Gah I was so excited to continue this storyline I actually put DWTD on hold to complete chapter 2! XD

If you get time, please review! It does mean a lot to me.

I want to make you aware that of the Avenger films I've only seen Captain America and Thor, so the only source of character development for Stark is from Avengers itself- if he seems incorrectly portrayed and his language/vocab is off then please let me know! I haven't seen Iron Man or Iron Man 2 .

Haunt me Chapter 2- Back into his arms

That night I didn't dream. I simply watched the darkness in front of my eyes for the whole night. A loud clang roused me from my slumber.

"Morning Sigyn." A familiar woman's voice greeted me.

"Greetings, Natasha." I said, yawning. I realised how rude I was being, and cut myself off mid yawn.

"How rude of me- I apologise for yawning." I said, looking down. There was a long moment of silence. I looked at Natasha, and she was staring at me, wide-eyed and her mouth slightly open.

"Yawning is a good sign- it means you slept well. Trust me, it's not considered rude here." She assured, snapping out of her reverie.

"What is for our breakfast?" I asked, snapping to change my dress and freshen up my skin. I had no time to bathe. Her jaw dropped briefly, but she came to her senses.

"Umm whatever you can find." She said, with a smile. I'll put you on some toast." She said, walking out of the corridor. I assumed I was meant to follow. We came into a large white room, with none of the magic cubes I had seen last night. Instead there stood Clint, Fury and four other people I didn't recognise. Fury stepped forward to greet me.

"Sigyn, good morning. I'd like you to meet some acquaintances of mine. This is Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Dr. Banner and Agent Hill. They're all part of the prestigious Avengers initiative I came up with myself." He introduced. All four of the people I was introduced to seemed reasonably welcoming- but I was still unsure. The man named Tony Stark stepped forward first- the way he held himself suggested he was highly important- or at least he thought he was. His dark brown hair stood up in an odd pyramid shape, and his skin was lightly tanned. He had a smug grin on his face, the kind of grin I didn't like to see, especially on the face of a stranger.

"Greetings, Sir." I said, curtsying. Slightly taken aback, Tony Stark stopped short in front of me, looking me up and down. I didn't like being looked up and down- I felt like I was being judged.

"Please, call me Tony." He said with a warmer smile. I gushed in gratitude. Next stepped forward Steve Rogers/ He was incredibly well built- his muscles showed through his clothing- he didn't look like he fit in with the modern setting- like he was of a different era.

"Greetings ma'am, I'm Steve." He said, shaking my hand. I wasn't used to this custom- on Asgard a man would kiss a woman's hand, and a woman would never shake a man's hand. Steve seemed to recognise I wasn't familiar with this action, and whispered helpfully to me.

"That's what we do here, don't worry." He winked and stepped back to allow Dr. Banner to greet me.

"Dr. Banner, greetings." I said, shakily trying to keep up with this strange custom of shaking one's hand.

"Greetings, Sigyn- what a pleasure to meet you. Please, call me Bruce." He was charming and young faced, with short dark curly hair. His hand shake was strong but gentle.

The only one who stayed behind and didn't greet me was Agent Hill. She had dark brown hair tied up in a tight bun, and she wore the same type of clothing as Fury- dark and sinister.

"Hello Sigyn- I hope you won't cause us any trouble." She said, chiding me for something I hadn't done.

"I am not here to cause harm. I didn't even intend on being here- I'm just a series of unfortunate accidents." I sighed, looking around at the group of people I had just met. There was a rather uncomfortable moment of silence. Luckily, Tony seemed to break the tense atmosphere.

"I don't know about anyone else, but I'm hungry as heck. Who's up for breakfast?" He walked to the table, not even waiting to hear if anyone else would join him. One by one the rest of the group sat down, apart from Agent Hill and Fury. Uneasy, I approached the table. Tony gestured for me to be seated beside him.

"Thank you." I said, before sitting down. I had no idea what any of the food was. There were bowls of little biscuit objects suspended in milk, and bread that was hard and covered in an unknown red substance, and little pastries oozing chocolate. There were also green rectangular packages that had "Granola" inscribed on them. With a shy glance at Tony, I leaned into him and whispered in his ear.

"I don't know what any of these foods are." With a small chuckle, he explained to me everything.

"This is cereal. It's complicated to explain- you'll have to discover its taste for yourself." He gestured to the bowls with the biscuits. He went on to explain what granola bars were, and toast with jam on it was.

"Thank you- I imagine it will take a long time for me to establish what everything is. For instance, what are those magic cubes I saw yesterday? They have moving images in them." I said, picking at a granola bar.

"Magic cubes?" He repeated, pondering the words with his tongue.

"Yes- they are silver cubes and one person uses each one. They use a circle on their hands to make a clicking sound to change the picture in the cube." I explained. Realisation dawned on Tony's face.

"They're called computers. It's one of the most stable examples of technology we own." He laughed- it must have been strange for him to have to explain something he must of considered so obvious to an adult.

"So Sigyn… you married?" Tony said, with a very lustful wink. I felt the blood rise to my cheeks- he laughed at that.

"No- I wasn't even engaged- I didn't get that far." I said sadly.

"Whaddaya mean?" He said, looking around the table. I realised all eyes were on me- it seemed that I was an interesting object to study. With a blush, I explained.

"I was thrown off of the Bifrost by my insufferable father. I admired Loki you see, and when he discovered this he was so embarrassed he chose to end my life. Lucky for me, Heimdall pitied my misfortune and sent me to Midgard, to meet Loki, I believe." I breathed- it felt pleasant to tell others my miserable tale.

"How can a father do that? Don't families have a code of loyalty to one another?" Steve said, confused.

"My father never liked me- he still grieves the death of my mother. He blames me for her death. She died giving birth to me. Every night, before I retired to sleep, he would tell me how disappointed he was in me, and how he never wanted a daughter." I could feel tears welling in my eyes. Fury approached from the corner of the room.

"I guess you'll be staying a while then."

"Can I see Loki again?" I asked, looking up hopefully at Fury. He deliberated over this a moment, and then nodded.

"Don't see why not." He left the room.

"Am I to follow?" I asked Tony, confused.

"Yeah- you'll have to be sharp around him- his mind's like a razor- just like his temper." He joked. I nodded and ran lightly out of the room to catch up to Fury. He seemed to be a difficult man to follow.

We went down the familiar passages and rooms with "computers" and entered the white room which Loki slept in. I ran through the door, pushed in front of Fury and entered the light. He was standing close to the glass- his face calm.

"Loki." I breathed. I didn't hesitate in approaching the glass. I couldn't understand why everyone was so fearful of him.

"Greetings, Sigyn. How are you this morn?" He asked, his smooth and masculine voice sending delightful shivers down my spine.

"I'm incredibly well, now." I smiled.

"Did you sleep well in your cage?" He asked, a hint of menace pronouncing "cage".

"I slept perfectly fine, thank you. How are you this fine morn?" I asked, my nose almost touching the wall between us.

"I am well, thank you for your concern." He asked, a delicate smile shaping his lips. I began to blush- I averted my gaze to look behind me. Fury was frowning at us.

"Is he listening to us?" I whispered, leaning closer still.

"He's trying to. I placed a spell on the cage so we sound like we're whispering. He'll have to strain hard to hear what we say." He whispered back, clearly impressed with his own magical talents.

"How's your magic coming along? When we last spoke you mastered shape shifting." He noted, his emerald eyes glazing in remembrance.

"Yes, I have worked incredibly hard these many moons to harness all the magic I can. I am the most able enchantress on Asgard! Or I was." I corrected, my smile fading. Loki's eyes softened at my words.

"We need to be closer." He said, changing the subject swiftly. He cast a hard glance at Fury again.

"Leave this to me." I said, with a wink. I walked over to Fury, my face innocent.

"Can I get in the cage with Loki? I've missed him so, and we crave being in the same space. He's my only and oldest friend and ally and I trust him with my-"

"Fine, as long as you're content with CCTV." He said, gesturing at a small box in the corner of the room.

"What is a CCTV?" I asked, confused.

"It allows us to watch what you're doing from another room. That way you don't have anyone in the room, and we're content you're not up to mischief." He explained. With a sigh, I nodded. Fury nodded too, and left the room abruptly. I walked up to the cage door, and with a soft vibration it slid open. With a soft gasp, I ran the last few steps up to Loki and hugged him. He gently laughed and spun me round once.

"Oh I have missed you trickster." I said affectionately.

"You have no idea how much I miss being called that." He said, putting me gently back on the floor.

"To think we haven't seen each other since we were young children makes me incredibly sad." I commented, my smile staying on my face. I warned it mentally to stay exactly where it was. My hair fell in front of my right eye. With another chuckle, Loki gently tucked it behind my ear.

"You seem in a much more congenial today." I noticed.

"I am jovial to see you again. I have been so lonely these past moons." He said truthfully.

"Oh I heard! I leave and all Hel breaks loose!" I exclaimed.

"Suddenly you're adopted, a Frost giant, taking over Midgard and summoning Chitauri as you please!" I continued.

"Was your life without me as exciting?" He said sarcastically.

"My father was a delightful hraumi as always. He was more pompous then he was when a subject of Odin, but that's hardly surprising." Loki laughed a humourless laugh.

We spent several hours more reminiscing about each other's past since we left the other. It felt so refreshing to talk to him again- he was my oldest, best and wisest friend and I hadn't realised just how sorely I missed him until I was back into his arms.
