Heeeeey guys, sorry for the late update! I've been super busy with my classes because my Professors have been assigning work like crazy! I will be updating again this week and it's absolutely certain. The chapter's already written I just have to pick a day, and upload it! Read, review and most of all enjoy!
Klaus walked into the training room wondering why the hell they were still training at 9 o'clock at night. Slamming his fist against the door he growled and demanded there attention.
"What the hell do you want?'' Damon witted out first as he stood up from the ground where Matt had just pinned him down. Narrowing there eyes as a group they all paced back a bit when Klaus began storming towards them.
"I want to know just how good of a shadowhunter Caroline is?" He asked, completley taking the american group by storm. Katherine raised her eyebrow and stepped forward.
"I beg you're pardon?" She asked curiously as to where in the world this question came from. Fighting the urge not to laugh as Klaus huffed in annoyance and started pacing the room.
"I think I made myself clear." He answered quickly eyeing each one of them carefully.
"What do Caroline's abilities have to do with anything?" Bonnie stated first having been the one to singlehandedly view every single one on the teams training. "If this is about her going on a mission with Rebek-" She had tried to continue before Klaus cut her off.
"Of course this is because she's out with Rebekah! In case the 5 of you haven't noticed they are on a very dangerous outing, one they may never come back from! Your friend has been entrusted to have my sister's back and how can I be so sure she's even remotely capable." He blurted out. "Aren't you the least bit concerned for her?" He concluded in a voice that was slightly shakier than when he started.
"You think you're the only one with a sister to worry about?" Katherine answered in anger. "My own sister is stuck here with not a single clue of who she is let alone who we are. Undoubtedly there are things after her and you have the nerve to to accuse us of not caring? Caroline is Matt's sister and believe me he's just as worried as you but with a little more faith." She spat out.
"Look man, Caroline is...the best of the best okay? She's the best one of all of us and probably one of the best in the country. She's more than capable of looking after your sister who in case you've forgotten, doesn't exactly need to be looked after." Matt spoke softly and freely.
"And if we're going to get to the bottom of all of this then I suggest the home team gain a little more trust in the visitors. We haven't exactly given you reasons not to." Damon answered softly.
"Whether you like it or not, we're in this together and if you guys would let us help every once in a while...I think it'll go a long way." Jeremy offered carefully. Klaus took a deep breath and glanced at the groups confused and bewildered faces. "And since we're on this questions outing here, how do we know that you and your sister will keep Caroline's secret safe? Liz has been continuously worried since about as long as I could remember about her daughters hidden ability. How do we know that you're not going to snap and turn her in to the Clave?" Jermey instigated cautiously. Caroline had assured them all that neither one of them would tell but that didn't mean they believed her. Klaus supposed he couldn't exactly be angry at the question, it was one they had every right to ask. Would he rat her out on a whim? It wouldn't exactly be the first time, it was a tendency he was known to have.
"Caroline and Rebekah have become exceedingly close therefor I'm quite confident she wouldn't breathe so much as a word. I however don't see the problem in her gift, it wasn't her choice so she shouldn't be held accountable for it. The Clave and my brothers won't find out, at least not from me." He answered honestly.
"Well then, glad that's settled." Damon grumbled accordingly as Klaus eyed them carefully and backed out of the room. Rolling his eyes as he heard them immerse in conversation he walked even faster, making sure to leave that entire encounter behind him.
If it were up to Caroline right now, she'd be anywhere but here. It took every power in her being not to completely gag at the advances Tyler Lockwood was making towards her. Not only was he a werewolf but he was a werewolf that loved to host and shack up with demons. She'd heard of the Lockwood family as well as all the infamous rumors that followed them all the way in Virginia. Quite frankly she'd rather be poking her eyes out instead of dancing with Tyler. His arm was wrapped firmly around her as if he was making a statement to everyone in the ballroom that for tonight, she belonged to him—and that made her nauseous.
"What do you say we get out of here and have a party of our own?" He offered huskily and she had to push back the vile coming up slowly in her throat. Clearing her throat she moved back a little bit and lowered her eyes.
"What do you say—you try getting to know a girl first?" She answered as flirtatiously as she could without sounding angry. "You haven't even asked me to dance yet, thought you were a gentleman." She teased carefully. He'd known her for all of what—two minutes?
"Didn't pick you out as a girl for foreplay but sure, we'll play it you're way—for now." He answered slightly annoyed but intrigued that she wasn't giving in so easy, that didn't happen so often with him. "You know my name, I see it only fair that I know yours. Plus I might wanna find you again some day." He spoke softly.
Caroline smiled slightly and thought of the first name that came into her head. She moved herself further apart to look him in the eye. "Kaitlyn Selyse" She whispered quickly and narrowed her eyes once more. Not being able to help the little giggle that escaped her throat when he mentioned seeing her again she glanced at the ground with caution. After today—he'll never see her again, not if she has anything to do about it.
"Well Miss Kaitlyn Selyse, do please join me for a dance." He requested forcefully as he gestured towards the dance floor where she spotted Rebekah being absolutely flawless in her cover. She'd been keeping an eye on her crime fighting partner all night so far. A task that was rather easier said then done, her and Mason have been all over the dance floor and it was starting to get difficult to keep track of her. She could only hope that she was being careful, not that she didn't believe in Rebekah's abilities but because one can never be too sure. Realizing she hadn't given an answer yet she quickly recovered from her massive train of thoughts.
"It's about time you asked." She lied through the skin of her teeth as she placed her small hand in his. He squeezed it forcefully and dragged her on to the dance floor. Sighing in relief as they were now closer to Rebekah she smiled sincerely this time as their bodies swayed slowly to the music. Letting her thoughts drift off to her mom and wondering how things were going in Idris with the Clave meeting. The Clave is sure to be absolutely furious that this happened, right under their noses. Elena, Katherine and Jeremy's parents were murdered because they failed to kill one man. That action drove Elena to slight insanity and sent her on a vendetta that got her memory wiped. Caroline was a girl all for action but at this time in her life, she'd kill to be back in Mystic Falls where everything was relatively quiet.
"What's that beautiful head thinking about?" She heard Tyler ask softly. The abrupt end to her thoughts put her in a daze, for a second she'd almost forgotten where she was. She was about to answer him when Mason hauled Rebekah over to them and whispered something in Tyler's ear. Caroline tried her absolute hardest to hear what was so urgent but it was practically hopeless. Glancing over at Rebekah with a raised eyebrow she gave her a questioning glance, only to get one in return.
"Ladies if you'll excuse us for just a few minutes, there's some uh—business that needs our attention." He started as he beckoned over a guard with his arm. "Jake here will escort you both to the lounge, be so kind as to wait for us there." He politely ordered and followed Mason out of the ballroom.
"Well that was rather fast-paced and rude." Rebekah blurted out as she trotted to stand next to her. The guard they left us with gave us a cautionary look. "You heard the man, take us to the lounge" Rebekah continued bluntly. Caroline used every force in her to make sure she didn't laugh right in the guards face at her outspoken authority. Jake grumbled in distaste and turned around, motioning for them to follow as he led them through all the crowds at the party. It wasn't long till they arrived at what is sure to be the most secluded place in all of London. The dark burgundy and black room was filled with couches and a full bar, surely a place of business—and nonetheless pleasure. Jake nodded at them and exited the room quickly, clearing showing not even an ounce of interest in them.
"Alright Rebekah, here's our chance to gather something useful and then get the hell out of here." Caroline said as soon as the door closed.
"Don't have to tell me twice, those Lockwoods make me want to gag." Rebekah answered quickly as she scanned the room for anything of use to them while she untied her mask. They both stood upright as they heard the unmistakeable sound of glass breaking. "What the...bloody hell?" She whispered, her grip tightening on the edges of her masquerade mask. Caroline leaned towards the book shelf on the opposite side of the room and pulled out her stele from the bodice of her dress. Tapping it against her knee and held it against the bookshelf so that they could see through to the other room. (Got that from the City of Bones movie haha). Snapping her head towards Rebekah's gasp of horror she glanced back into the room with curiosity. They could clearly see Mason and Tyler among other werwolves and the rare thing about it was that they too stood in fear. In the center of all of them was a tall man with dirty blonde hair and a large vein sticking out of his forehead in anger.
"That's my father." Rebekah whispered to her in complete awe and fear. "I don't remember him much but judging by the photographs in mother's office—that's definitely him. No doubt about it." She confirmed not only to Caroline but to herself. Turning their attention back to the other room they couldn't help but cringe at Mikael's forceful yell.
"I want all the founding Clave families dead! We've been at this for about a year and we've only managed to kill Miranda and Grayson Gilbert yet, there children still live!" Mikael yelled in discontent.
"To be fair sir, the eldest Gilbert has no memory." A Rowan demon whispered in the corner, proud of his recollection. Mikael flipped the blade in his hand and shoved it through the demon's chest. Both girls's eyes widened in horror at the penalty for simply speaking up.
"Sir, we have pack members watching the Institute at all times. Problem is, the Shadowhunters from the institute in Virginia are now residing with your children. There's at least 10 of them now, and they're all rather good at what they do." Mason responded timidly. "Plus all of the one's who voted your banishment have been called to Idris for an emergency Clave meeting. Surely they know by now just who's behind this. They don't call meetings for just anything." He concluded.
"Yes I am aware of that unfortunate piece of information. As for the american's if anything this makes the job easier, if there are more of them in one place that makes it easier and saves time. My demons require human sacrifices, have you acquired them?" He asked in a more civil tone. Caroline and Rebekah took a sharp breath, there was their confirmation on what Elijah asked them to uncover. However, it's doubtful that he was expecting all of what they'd actually discovered that night.
"Of course, the ceremony will be ready by the ball next Saturday. Your demons will uprise to their full strength and invading Idris will be all the more easier." Tyler confirmed. Both girls were staring with such disbelief and horror that they failed to see the door open behind them and figure slowly making there way to them. Caroline turned first and in time to see Jake snake his large hand around Rebekah's throat and hoisting her in the air.
"Now just what the hell are both of you doing?" He spat out in confusion as Rebekah struggled to catch her breath. Shoving her high-heeled leg out she shoved the heel into his stomach as his grip loosened and the other blonde fell to the ground in a heap. Jake was too large and it was only a matter of seconds till he got back up. There dresses hadn't left much room for disclosing weapons so they were ridiculously unprepared. Lifting his arm he placed a fast blow to Caroline's cheek that she wasn't quick enough to block. Rebekah took the initiative and locked his arms behind his back so that Caroline could knock him out. Sighing in relief as he fell to the ground in a large thud that surely the other room could hear. Picking up her Stele off the ground she drew the portal rune in the air and haphazardly smiled as the blue wall formed right before them.
"Let's go before he wakes up or worse, before someone else see's us." Caroline initiated and she grabbed Rebekah's arm, pulling them through the liquid-like surface. It wasn't long till they were standing in the Institute Library only to be met with Klaus and Elijah's surprised but relieved expressions.
"Oh thank the angel." Elijah muttered in relief as he let out a deep breath. Klaus had a more neutral but obviously content face as he stared at them both. "You've been gone for hours, I was beginning to worry." He continued.
"Is that why you were in here?" Rebekah teased softly as she sauntered over to where they sat and placed her silver and gold mask on the table. Her brothers easily noticed the red hand marks that were now imprinted around her neck.
"Rebekah you're injured, as are you Caroline." Elijah realized as he softly touched his sister's neck for any permanent damage.
"Nothing an Iratze Rune can't heal, nothing to worry about." She muttered as Caroline pondered in confusion. She didn't remember having an injury and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"You're left cheek, love." She heard Klaus say and she slowly brought up her hand to her face and winced when she poked. "I am very inclined to hear what happened to you both as well as what you've uncovered. You've both been harmed so I can only assume it was good." He inquired.
"Oh believe me it is. Just—let us change and shower first and then we'll explain. I can still feel Tyler Lockwood's hands on me and I'm dying to wash it off." She pleaded. Klaus's expression changed from playful to something Caroline couldn't quite read. Was it—anger? She couldn't really pinpoint why he would be angry, it's not as though something terrible had happened.
"Take all the time you need." Elijah offered politely as he sat back down in his chair and gestured for Klaus to do the same. It wasn't till they witnessed both girls leave the room that the real conversation began.
"I cannot believe this whole thing was you're idea. You're supposed to be the brother with reason." Klaus grumbled in anger.
"Niklaus, they're fine. A tad bit harmed but it's nothing they couldn't handle and they were our best shot at uncovering the truth about the rumors we've been hearing for months. You know it, I know it, everybody knows that so tell me brother, what's really bothering you about all this? Could you perhaps have taken a liking to Miss Forbes? Because if you ha-" He tried before he was quickly interrupted.
"Enough with the speculation brother and own up to what you've caused." He fired back.
"Oh I am very capable of owning up Niklaus, perhaps it is you who cannot." He answered and was left in surprise as for once—all Klaus did was sit and stay silent. Elijah smiled in victory and let his mind ponder endless possibilities.
Jake rubbed his forehead in pain and stomped the familiar path to the room at the end of the hall. Kicking the door open he ignored the infuriated gazes of everyone conversing.
"We have a serious problem. Those two blondes you were with all night, they were Shadowhunter's—spies." He revealed, much to their distaste. Tyler's eyes were livid.
"That's impossible, there were no runes on their arms!" He yelled in confusion as he glanced at Mikael apolagetically.
"Somehow they found a way to hide them, I'm absolutely positive they were Shadowhunters. One of them was using a Stele to see through the wall into this room. They heard—everything." He concluded as everyones face was the same pattern of horror.
