Chapter 14

"How are you feeling?" Callie questioned the obviously hungover blonde.

Arizona rubbed the sleep from her eyes and squinted. This room was way too bright for her. She grumbled and turned her back to disappear into the darkness of her cave once more.

Callie half-smiled, turning back to the television and nursed the coffee she had made for herself.

"Callie, you can come in here," a light voice could be heard from the bedroom. She stood to her unsteady toes and made her way to the doorway.

The Latina stood silently, waiting for something, anything, to happen, "Did you mean it?" she finally asked, using every last ounce of courage that she managed to build up inside of her.

"Mean what?" a mumble came from the mountain of pillows.

Callie's heart began to beat hard in her chest. Any reserved faith that she had to make this work with the blonde had combusted into flames. She turned on her heels, heading towards the living room to gather her things.

"Wait, Callie," A shuffle was heard from the bedroom and the Peds surgeon stepped back into her living area. She took a good look at the Latina. Tears were swelling in her eyes. Maybe Arizona had knew that she herself was broken, but now she knew that she wasn't the only one.

"I meant what I said," she confessed, "I meant everything that I said." She wasn't sure about all of the details of what had gone down last night, but she remembers those unforgettable words. She couldn't deny the truth.

Callie wasn't sure what to say. She hadn't thought this part through. Most of the sleepless hours were spent churning through what Arizona had said, but she never once thought about what she would say if they were indeed the truth.

Callie stepped forward, taking the blonde's chilled hand and sitting her on the couch.

There was a long pause. Arizona didn't question it because she knew Callie was collecting her thoughts.

"I'm so sorry for everything that I've put you through. I don't deserve your love at all," Callie swallowed hard, "Is this truly what you want? Roe and I are a packaged deal. I want you to understand that."

"Of course I do," Arizona spoke quietly.

"So, what happens now?"

Arizona picked up the remote for the television and fiddled with the buttons for a few moments. She put it back down when she had come up with her solution.

"What if we just start over? We can just go back to where we first met and we'll figure it out from there. No more lies and no more secrets," Arizona suggested.

"That sounds like a great idea," Callie cracked a smile, "but do you really want to relive knocking all of those paper towels on the floor?"

Arizona giggled and in that, all of their worries were eased. Maybe Arizona was still hesitant about letting the Latina back in, but she did what she always did, which was give love a chance.

Callie put her hand on Arizona's and they quickly emersed themselves into a long, tight embrace.

"I heard you took a spill yesterday. Was everything okay?" Arizona asked, playing with the brunette's hair.

"My iron was just low. It freaked Roe out a little bit though." Roe. Now that things were settled with Arizona, he daughter was the only thing on her mind.

"I can't believe you slept with Mark," Arizona scuffed, almost reading Callie's mind.

Callie couldn't believe it either. She wasn't at her best when she met Mark. She couldn't find the right career choice and felt completely trapped under the wing of her parents. One impulsive decision changed her life forever.

"I know this might seem too soon, but I'd like to see Roe. I'd like to meet her properly," Arizona explained, melting the Latina's fiery heart.

"She'd love that. She's been asking about you ever since you helped get her arm fixed up," Callie articulated.

Arizona beamed one of those super magic smiles. It was almost as if her mood over the last few weeks had done a complete one-eighty now that Callie was back in the picture.

Callie looked around the apartment and stood up. "I'm not even going to consider dating you if this apartment stays the way that it is. What a little piggy you are."

Arizona laughed and the two started picking up the trash and dirty laundry all over the room. They cleaned for hours, dancing around to Callie's playlist on her iPod. It was almost as if they fell right back into the groove. Arizona wasn't sure exactly what would come of this. Taking on a woman and her tiny family was something she'd never thought she'd do. There was something about Callie that made her want the whole deal. She wasn't questioning anything tonight though. Tonight, it was all about she and Callie.

Callie peaked her eyes open and before doing so, she prayed that the fabric gripped into her fist gently of Arizona's t-shirt. When her eyes focused, a pair of sweet, pink lips came towards hers.

"Good morning, pretty lady," Arizona hummed sleepily, pulling the tanned woman closer.

Callie grumped a 'good morning' back and nestled her head under the blonde's neck.

"Can you come today?" Callie asked, half awake. It seemed that she was still in limbo with reality and the dream world.

"Come to what?"

"Mark and I have to tell Roe," she whispered.

"I don't know, Calliope," Arizona articulated, "it's not really my place to be involved just yet. This is between the three of you."

Callie knodded. Arizona was absolutely right. This was between herself, Roe, and Mark. Although the blonde's presence would ease her nerves, she knew it was better off this way.

"I'd love to take the two of you ladies to dinner after my surgery tonight. If that is okay," Arizona kissed the raven tresses atop of Callie's head.

"It's a date."

Arizona tapped her fingers on the wooden bench beneath her. She checked her phone once more, waiting for Callie's arrival. She had to admit that she was nervous. Making a good impression on Roe was important to her. The opinion of tiny humans impacted her life greatly. She always felt obligated to make sure they were on their side. Tonight was even more important. It wasn't a surgery to save Roe's life, it was a dinner date to show her mother that she could do this. That she was worthy of being in both of their lives. Her future was in a four-year-old's hands.

The door opened open from behind her. She spun on the seat, hopeful to see Callie but disappointed to see that it was only Lexie Grey.

"Hey," she said, pulling off her lab coat and stuffing it into her cubby.

"Oh, hey," Arizona sprung up from her spot on the bench and started gathering her things.

"Is everything alright?" Lexie questioned, slipping out of her scrub pants and into her casual jeans.

"Oh, yeah. Everything is fine."

"Is this about Teddy?"

Teddy? Where did Teddy come up in all of this? That's right. She hadn't spoken to her best friend since she had made the comment about Callie. She knew she needed to forgive the poor blonde but that wasn't on the agenda for this evening.

"Have Teddy call me in the morning," she told Teddy's fiancé before stepping out of the lounge.

Just as she turned the corner to the lobby, she saw them. She took in Callie's appearance. Her curves were hugged generously by a pair of dark wash denim and that same leather jacket was rested gently over her shoulders. The blonde looked down at Roe, the spitting image of her mother. Arizona giggled when she saw the little one in a fluffy, neon pink tutu that was pulled over her regular clothes. Her little stuffed moose was in her free hand, hung by his raggedy ear. She imagined the fight that Roe had put up just to wear the tutu but of course, Callie gave into her.

"Dr. Robbins!" Roe cried, letting go of her mom's hand and running for the blonde.

Arizona crouched down to hug the tiny Torres.

"I haven't seen you in a long time!" Roe exclaimed, beaming at the Peds surgeon.

"I know! How is your arm feeling?" she asked, resting a hand on it.

"Good as new," Roe claimed confidently.

"That's great news!" Arizona stood back up and looked at Callie, who was grinning from ear to ear.

"Hi," Arizona smiled, pulling her into a tight hug.

For the first time in a while, Arizona could read exactly what was going on inside the Latina's noggin. She appreciated how amazing Arizona was with children, especially her child.

"Mommy, I'm hungry! Let's go!" Roe demanded, grabbing the two women's hands and heading towards the exit.

Approximately six weeks had passed since then. Things couldn't have been going better. Callie and Arizona were spending most of their off time together. Lexie and Teddy were closely approaching their wedding day, a wedding the couple had both been invited to be in. Mark had kept his promise to Callie to be in Roe's life. They spent most weekends together and Roe was slowly turning into a daddy's girl as well.

Arizona was making her morning coffee in the silence of her apartment. She took a glance around her living room. She'd never think that it would look this way. It was thoroughly lived in. Two empty coffee mugs from the previous morning sat on the table, princess sippy cup between them. Three dolls were sat against the entertainment center. A blanket was unfolded on the couch where the three girls were propped up for movie night just hours ago. She wished that she had woken up earlier to say goodbye to them. Callie had taken Roe to Addison's to spend some time there today. It seemed that the little one would never run out of awesome parents.

Gentle knuckles rapped on the door. Arizona pulled the tie of her rob tighter and unlocked it, pulling it open.

Callie stood with tears rushing down her face. Her entire body shook like an earthquake, "I'm sorry...I...I...I forgot my key. I'm so so sorry, Arizona."

Arizona shot the brunette those sinfully bright blue eyes that pooled with sympathy, "What happened, Callie? Talk to me."

"I'm being deployed."
