Chapter 32-A Legend revealed

Cole remained stationary, the fire from his sword illuminating those strange, feline features, and his inhumanly pointed ears. Adam had no clue of the events unfolding before him, it was wierd enough for this man to trap him inside, all alone, just them two, in a dark bunker on a military base. And even wierder that the man had the features of a...well, something not human.

Adam stared at Cole with an impassive contortion, his poker-face. "Listen, I could be more impressed with this sword of yours, well both of them, but I'm not really that type of guy. What your doing isn't going to tempt me." He leaned in closely. "I'm more after the opposite sex, not those of my gender. Now what your doing is fine, but as long as your doing it with someone that isn't me, you might be that kind of person, but theres nothing..."

Cole arched an eyebrow, and lifted his lip in disgust. "What? No, that is not what I was trying to do, at all. I am married to a woman."

Adam shrugged. "Well I understand the reason to change the subject too. I also, would be quite embarrassed."

"I was just trying to make my revealing more dramatic."

Adam lifted both eyebrows in shock as a means to highten his argument. "Your revealing?"
"I didn't mean...you know, just forget it." Cole sheathed his sword, the flames dispersing into sparks that drifted through the breezless room until they burned out.

Adam sat back in his chair and calmly said. "Would you like to start over?"

"Yes." Cole shrugged nonchalantly.

"Good." Adam then shifted around, his back twisted so it was facing Cole. Then he turned and made a suprised face as if seeing Cole for the first time. "Ah, Hi, how are you? My name is Adam." He held out his hand to Cole.

Cole huffed, but shook it and replied. "I'm Cole, it's nice to meet you." Then he switched to an undertone. "For the first time."

"Don't go for the sword thing agian." Said Adam as Cole reached for his weapon.

Cole acceded and began speaking. "So your a magic user."

Adam shrugged. "It depends on which angle you look at it."

"Well, I know. You are a magician. I am from the past, that much is true. I was mysteriously sent here one day, centries ago."

Adam believed that Cole was from the past, for he had been from the past also. But then Cole said the word 'centries'. "Now how is that possible."

Cole shook his head. "To this day I still haven't found an explanation for what occured, but in a flash of light and swirls of flawless colors I awoke here, me and my students."

Adam gaped in wonder, he hadn't been the only one. "That same thing happened to me."

"I had seven students, each magnificent in every way, but they were very different from the other. We were fighting an enemy, one that attacked the land of Du VardenShur'tugal, or 'The Guarding Dragons'."

"Wait, I've heard of that. It was a mythical country that merchants would tell stories of, up until the riders disappeared a thousand years before my time."

Cole seemed as if he were longing for something. "Is that all we have been reduced to, stories, myths? We were legends once, we were the salvation for Alageasia, we were Dragon Riders."

"Your name isn't really Cole is it?" Observed Adam, piecing all the variables together. "Your Eragon, the leader of the Riders, King of Du VardenShur'tugal."

"Aye, that is I. When I awoke here I thought that I was captured by the enemy, and when people asked for my name I said Cole, for fear of them realizing the truth about me."

Adam pondered the previous words. "Is that why you never came back when the Salazians took over Alageasia?"

Cole shook his head. "No. I was preparing to return and fight off the Salazians."

"If your knowledge of history is correct, then you should have heard that when the elves abandoned their home of Alalëa and came to Alageasia, not much was known about their origins. Well when some elves, my dragon Saphira, and I sailed across the eastern sea, we found land. At first we believed it to be an island, so we decided to sail around it. Me and Saphira flew over the island several times, surveying the landscape and such.
"Then we found it. A glorious city built atop a hill, over a large expanse of plains surrounded by mountains. The elves aboard the vessel claimed it to be their ansestors' home and that the land was Alalëa. But it was inhabitated by humans, and when we went to greet them, they responded in violence. So we fled and hid, for we were gravely outnumbered. We went undiscovered for two years, during which the first wild dragon egg hatched. It was a tough job to keep the dragons life style hidden, evidence of it's existence was everywhere, more so as it grew over the next year.

"We later established communication with the elves and explained our predicament. We wanted them to know first that we had found their ancestors' home. They agreed to come and help. The humans attacked us, so we took that as an act of war. We overthrew them a month later, and took the city as our own, the rest of the Salazians retreated and fled Alalëa. The wild dragon stayed with us, and fought beside us the entire time. And as a result he was named VardenShur'tugal, Gaurding Dragon. We later named the continent Du VardenShur'tugal in honor of the first wild dragon. The city was thereafter named Orasiuex, the 'Golden Mountain'."

"Orasiuex is the city just outside, the one under attack." Adam said, then realized something else. "There are riders here, those were the people exiting the jet with you, the ones with the swords. So that means we are in Du VardenShur'tugal not Salazier."
Cole nodded softly, then continued. "Over the years during the riegn on Orasiuex I recieved seven riders in total within twelve years. We lived in peace for three more years until we recieved contact from Alageasia. They were under attack, and with most of the elves gone, they were taken over by the very people that we expelled from here. We quickly prepared to leave and help out friends fight agianst the Salazians.
"Just before we left, while we slept the night before, Orasiuex was under attack. Our forces were all ready for war so we reacted fast and quickly won the first battle. But then an unbearable amount of enemies flooded in, these creatures were quick, slim, and in great numbers. We were pushed away from our city, during all this we lost a dragon, his rider was gravely injured, near-death in fact.

"I ordered a retreat, our armies fled for the already prepared ships. I retreived the injured rider and healed his wounds, then I cast a spell that would erase any memory of this place, for at the moment, and by the elves requests, we didn't want the island's location common knowledge, even though he was a trusted rider. "Many fled, but some remained to fight. I lead the six riders and the elves army back. As we fought I noticed that there were swirling lights whizzing through the air. It was like a tsunami spreading over the plains, these lights flooded my army and covered my students. When they disappeared the riders and dragons were gone. Then they came for me, the last thing I saw was Orasiuex in flames, then darkness."
