Natsu had been walking for about an hour or so after he had been able to calm Erza down. It had taken a lot of bribery and groveling but she had relented after a while. Though the path of destruction that they left in their wake was probably why she stooped in the first place. Then he had to explain why he was leaving since the minute he told her, she immediately responded with trying to throw a chair at him, giving him no chance to explain and the chase began. She had only agreed to let him leave after he promised to buy her as many strawberry cakes as she wanted. And also some...private time upon his return.

Natsu could still feel the ghost pains in his wallet and the blush that had covered his cheeks after he made the promise. Now he was walking through the dense forest leading to the mountain directly North of the guild hall, his senses on full alert. He had come here a lot as a kid and knew that if he let his guard drop for a moment he would pay for it. Even more so since this area was one he had not explored as thoroughly.

Natsu stopped to survey his surroundings as he climbed up the nearest tree as he turned his gaze back towards the city in the distance. Even now he could see the guildhall in the distance, thinking on all he had done since Makarov took him in. the tears the laughs but most importantly where he met Erza for the first time all those years ago and the adventures they'd had. He smiled as the most recent memories came to mind and vowed that no matter what, he would do everything imaginable to make her happy.

After a few minutes Natsu asked his new partner something that had bothering him when they left. 'Why exactly are we going to the mountains anyway Rebellion?' Natsu asked as he made his way down the tree, 'I mean there is nothing there except a small plateau of rock and a cave network, not to mention the beasts that live there.'

'We're going for a reason. That is all I can say for now.' The ancient sword explained as Natsu began to walk deeper into the dense forest, its memories of these same woods with someone different running through its mind. 'Just trust me.'

'Alright, I'll leave it be…for now.' Natsu said as he jumped up a tree and began climbing to reach the top of the small cliff in his path. Natsu received only silence, until the sword spoke once more.

'Although I can give you a slight hint as to why we're going. It has to do with your family.' Was all that the ancient blade said before retreating within Natsu's mind leaving the young man to his thoughts.

'Rebellion! REBELLION!' Natsu called within his mind in a vain attempt to reach the sword, and he was met with nothing but silence. 'What the hell does he mean by this has something to do with my family?' the young demi-devil thought as he continued his journey. Natsu had to admit that ever since he had awakened his devil blood, a part of him had yearned for freedom, the chance to let loose, let his instincts guide him, just like when he was a kid with Igneel. He missed this feeling, except now he had his demonic instincts to guide him this time around.

Natsu stopped next to a small stream that ran from the river that he had seen about a few kilometers east of his location and stopped to gather his bearings. Natsu was glad he had forgone his new clothes and switched back to his old clothes, with the only new addition being the back holsters for Ebony and Ivory. They were just normal hip holsters he had borrowed from Alzack with the belts crossing his chest in an x-pattern so that he could reach them easily. The forest and rocky terrain was difficult to travel in what he was wearing now, let alone how much a pain in the ass it would be in leather and long baggy pants.

It had nothing to do with the fact he didn't want his really expensive clothes to get dirty or damaged. Honestly.

After refilling his canteen, Natsu grabbed his small bag of supplies and continued his journey towards the mountains that seemed no closer than when he began, the setting sun casting the trees in a golden glow as if aflame as the sounds of beasts awakening for the night time hunt reached his keen ears.

A few hours later Natsu had set up camp for the night, setting all of his gear high in the largest tree he could find, as he gazed out into the night, the stars and moon reminding him of when he had confessed to Erza the night she woke up.

'I hope she's alright.' He thought to himself, while unbeknownst to him, his dragon and devil shared that same feeling.

He was brought out of his thoughts with a start as Rebellion spoke up once more.

'She will be fine. You worry for nothing.' he said as Natsu continued to stare out into the night. Natsu sighed before leaning back into the tree his eyes closed, with the sounds of the forest all around him. 'I can't help it.' He said after a few moments of listening to the sounds. 'I just got her, only to leave her alone again.' He explained his expression turning slightly forlorn at the thought.

'Do not fear young one, she has been through worse.' A deep voice interjected as Natsu sat upright his head on a swivel looking for whatever spoke his sadness having vanished to be replaced by an alertness honed through life in the wild.

'What the hell? What was that?' he thought, reaching behind him to grasp one of his guns his eyes narrowed, sweeping over his surroundings looking for anything out of place.

'Have you already forgotten about me, young one?' The voice asked, the deep baritone voice sounding familiar to the young demi-devil when realization struck Natsu.

'Are you…my inner dragon?' he asked with his response being a deep barreling laugh.

'Hahahaha. It's good to know that you are as alert as ever ahahahahaha.' His dragon responded after the laughs subsided before they began anew.

Natsu despite being tired, shot to his feet a tick mark on his head as the dragon began to laugh, 'OI, SHUT THE HELL UP YOU OVERGROWN REPTILE!' he yelled within his mind. The laughing abruptly stopped and was followed by a roar of rage that caused Natsu to fall to his knees his hands clutching his head, grunting in pain as his head felt as if it would split open in moments.

'How dare you, you insignificant little whelp!' The voice roared in indignation at the insult. 'I can still kick your tiny ass you pathetic excuse for a dragon! You may possess my power but you have no idea how to wield it to its full potential and that is going to get us all killed!' it continued as Natsu was able to gather his thoughts, the pounding in his head beginning to vanish.

'What the hell are you talking about?!' Natsu asked as he shook his head to try and get rid of the ringing in his head from the roaring and yelling. 'I know damn well how to use my magic otherwise, how do you think I survived this long.' He exclaimed in his defense before sitting down and leaning back on the tree.

'You don't know the first thing on how to use YOUR magic.' His dragon countered as Natsu listened, 'You only know how to use MY magic. And even then it is nowhere near the level it should be with your vast potential.' He explained causing Natsu to scratch his head with his face set in a confused expression.

'What the hell do you mean by that?' Natsu asked, 'Aren't they the same thing?' trying to understand the dragons words.

'You are not a fire mage by birth; you just conditioned your body to use fire magic.' The dragon explainedas Natsu sat and waited for it to continue. 'Neither of your parents could use fire magic, the only reason you can is because of Igneel.' He paused letting the information begin to sink in, 'he taught you how to use your magic to make flames, whereas if you had met, let's say Metallicana, he would have taught you how to make iron with it.'

'So what you're saying is I could have any type of magic as long as I knew how to transform my pure magic energy into that specific type. That about right?' Natsu asked after a few minutes, running over the explanation in his head. While internally his counterparts were dumbfounded at his simple, yet quite accurate assumption. Considering the fact he only received very little information.

'That is…mostly correct.' His dragon said after a few moments of stunned silence. 'You got the main point, but not the context. For children, yes they can have any type of magic as long as they get training in it and are exposed to the inner workings of said magic. Though at birth, they have a higher chance of being more attuned to use one of or both of their parent's magic and more often than not the child manifests those abilities after being exposed to that type of magic at such an early age. As well as receiving training from their parents. Though there in some cases where the child cannot use the parent's magic but a different one entirely.'

He stopped and let Natsu digest the new info. 'But, if exposed to enough of a different type and receiving instruction on how to use it, it can cause their bodies to begin manifesting and producing that different type of magic on its own. Provided of course, they absorb enough Ethernano to allow the process to occur.' He paused as Natsu sat wide eyed before he continued, 'For adults, it is the opposite. They cannot learn a new type of magic since their body is already accustomed to one type of magic as a primary: their strongest, while any new magic they learn will be weaker, and more difficult to master. Like you and your transformation magic, you can use it but it is nowhere near as powerful as it could be if, let's say it was your primary magic.' He explained, as Natsu nodded his head thankful for the explanation.

'So I can only use fire magic because I was found by Igneel? And because he trained me in the Fire Dragon Slayer arts?' He asked as he sat on the branch, the slight breeze causing his vest to flutter as he sat in silence. Then a terrifying thought crossed Natsu's mind, as a look of panic crossed his face. 'What about my original magic? The one I got from mom and dad?' he asked nervously, slightly worried that his Dragon Slayer magic had replaced the abilities he would have got from his parents.

Natsu's dragon counterpart answered to alleviate the worry from the young man before it could take root, 'I can still sense a large source of magic deep within you, young one. It is merely locked away, until you find a way to access it. And from what I can tell from the few times I sensed it, it's Holy magic. And I think you know where that came from.'

Natsu smiled as he gazed at the forest, with the tree tops bathed in moonlight, already knowing the answer. He was glad that he had inherited both of his parents' abilities, afraid he may have lost them. Though he supposed his father's power was hidden in his blood, so he couldn't lose that. What he had been worried about was losing possibly the only physical reminder he might have of his mother besides the strange journal they had left him.

His mother, before he knew her as such, had been famous and feared for being one of the most powerful Holy magic users Fiore had ever seen, with her secrets and spells now lost to time after she disappeared all those years ago. And now Natsu had the chance to learn how to use her magic, if the journal was what he believed it to be.

He would make her proud, wherever she was and he would master his power, to try and surpass her, prove himself worthy of her gifts, which she had unknowingly given him. He was brought from his thoughts by his dragon's next words.

'And you need not fear about your father's abilities, that is where your devil comes in. Besides that part of your power is passed through your blood so it can't be replaced.' was the response Natsu got. Natsu sighed in relief, before directing his attention to all of his companions.

'So now that that's all settled I have a question.' The young demi-devil said gaining the attention of the others. 'What the hell am I going to do while we're at the mountain? ' Natsu said frustrated and at the same time excited, with him learning that he potentially, had a whole new power to master. Before any of his companions could respond he asked something that had been bothering him.

'And another thing,' Natsu said directing this towards his inner dragon and devil, 'What the hell am I supposed to call you two?' The two aspects of his power turned towards each other before addressing Natsu.

His dragon answered first, 'Call me…Naitoro' (1) Natsu nodded, before his devil answered with a dark chuckle.

'A most wise choice, Mighty One and a rather fitting one if I must say.' He said his voice conveying approval and if Natsu guessed right a little sarcasm, similar to what he had with Grey. When they weren't trying to beat each other stupid that is. 'I have none but perhaps one in your father's native tongue would suffice. Any thoughts?'

Natsu crossed his arms and thought it over in his head for a moment before looking at his arm and it came to him, 'How about, Wrath?' (2) Natsu suggested causing both inner spirits to look at one another in thought before Naitoro did the equivalent of a shrug as the newly dubbed devil turned his attention to Natsu.

'What made you choose that if I may be so bold?' Natsu shrugged despite the fact the three couldn't see it and answered, straight and simple.

'It was my desire to kill and beat that bastard Jellal that released you with the right circumstances and I get the feeling that only when I truly need it and lay waste to my enemies will you release all the power you are withholding from me. It seemed like a good choice.'

The newly dubbed Wrath mulled it over for a moment before a psychotic grin appeared ready to split its face in half if it grew any wider. 'I think we are going to get along just fine, hahaha.'

Natsu was brought back to reality by Rebellion's response to his first question.

'We will be training you in each of our respective powers. I and Wrath will teach you for the next two days on how to use me in combat as well as some other techniques your father knew while you will learn some of your unique demonic abilities alongside. While Naitoro will teach you how to better use your dragon abilities the next day. Maybe coming up with some new ones while you're at it.' Rebellion paused before asking Natsu a question, 'Is this alright with you?'

Natsu grinned before a thought came to him, which Rebellion hadn't addressed. 'What about my own magic, the one I inherited from mom?' he asked his brows furrowed in confusion.

The sword responded the only way it could, 'I am sorry, but you will have to discover that on your own my friend, that is your journey to take, not ours. But do not worry you will have the last two days of the schedule to focus on this task.' Natsu merely sighed a slight smirk on his lips, before he began to feel the days travel catch up with him as he lay down and closed his eyes.

'Thanks, partner. Wake me when it's time to start.' Natsu said before he shielded his thoughts, from them as he felt his fatigue begin to take hold, 'Only 5 more days until I see you again…Erza' was his last thought before he succumbed to his fatigue, his dreams filled with the image of a beautiful woman who gave him the strength to fight on. He smirked in his sleep, as something Igneel, and Makarov told him long ago came to mind. He had finally found something worth dying for. And he would send anyone and anything straight into the bowels of Hell to keep her safe, as long as he drew breath into his lungs. Let the training begin.

While within Natsu's mind the three figures that represented the physical forms of his power and his Devil Arm stood upon a cliff overlooking a vast ocean that glowed an ethereal blue as it was slowly fed to the area around them as they could feel their power as well as Natsu's begin to grow ever so slowly. The tallest of them, Naitoro turned to his right, to gaze at the man in a black cloak with a familiar broadsword strapped to his back. Naitoro was a fairly large dragon considering his age being only 17 and having a wisdom beyond his years. He easily reached 30ft from snout to tail, with his wings reaching 40ft across, his scales a dark iridescent red that shifted as he moved the light from the fires within Natsu's mind causing it.

"Are you sure he can handle the strain from the Ethernano?" he asked noting how any energy that went to Natsu and was absorbed, automatically replenished itself, as the cloaked figure turned its head, the flaming skull under the hood looking up at him. The figure turned back towards the large pool of energy before answering.

"I will only give him the amount his body can handle until it stops adapting to the changes it is going through. The rest will be here to act as a reserve should he ever need it." Rebellion said as he too noted how the Ethernano was absorbing the ever present energy outside to replenish itself whenever any was lost.

Wrath merely smirked at the thought of all the raw power that Natsu now had at his disposal not to mention his own locked up portions of holy and demonic power. Natsu would be as strong as his father had been in his prime and if not, he would be even stronger. Wrath didn't know how he knew this, he just did. Like instinct.

'He's literally a walking source of power." He said quietly bringing the other two's attention to him.

"I hope that he just doesn't unlock his Second Origin anytime soon. Otherwise there is no telling how much power he will wield. How will we be sure he can control it, better yet can he even handle the power?" Naitoro said his words showing his concern for his human counterpart.

"He will just become what he was meant to. A guardian for those who cannot fight back themselves .A warrior who must fight using the power granted from darkness to serve the light. The next Dark Knight, like his father before him. You must merely have faith that he will succeed. Doing the impossible is in his very nature even before we could speak to him. Have faith, my friend." The ancient spirit of Rebellion said with the other two nodding in agreement. Rebellion turned to the others, "You should get some rest, we have a long day tomorrow."

The other two merely shrugged before going to their domains within Natsu's mind, Naitoro towards mountains in the east while Wrath walked into the lava fields under a towering volcano to the north.

"Stay strong my friend, for I fear you will face a challenge that will require all of your power. And if you can hear me, know that I will always stand by your side, ready to slay any who threaten you and those you hold dear." Rebellion spoke before vanishing in a pillar of pure energy.

While within a remote part of Natsu's mind a thriving oasis had grown over what had once been nothing but volcanic rock and sand. And in the center of the expanding growth, a lone figure kneeled, chained to the rock pedestal, his armor a brilliant mix of silver and gold he appeared to be the same height as Natsu with jet black hair that spiked up towards the front with a single bang in the front, with the rest reaching to his lower back. This was Natsu's Holy magic given physical form that had been sealed away, until it had been activated by Rebellion activating Natsu's devil blood, and Natsu consuming the Ethernano crystal. The figure's eyes snapped open, the iris a pitch black, that shifted between silver and back, before he stared around taking in his surroundings, before a light smile adorned his face.

'The time has finally come. Prepare yourself Natsu Dragneel, for your trials have only just begun.' He said as the chains binding him began to rust, signifying that his imprisonment would soon end, and he could finally do what he was meant to when he first gained life thanks to Mavis. Now all Natsu needed to do was find this place, and unlock the last of his power. No time like the present.

A few hours later we now find Natsu once more hiking towards the mountain, his hair and clothes dishevelled from his…rude wakeup call mumbling under his breath. Wrath had decided Natsu had slept long enough, and decided to have a little fun. By fun I mean Wrath screaming at the top of his lungs within Natsu's mind scaring the hell out of Natsu, who proceeded to fall from the top of the tree, miraculously hitting every single branch on his way down.

'I swear to Kami I'm gonna kill you.' Natsu muttered within his mind, with Rebellion and Naitoro nodding in agreement about an hour or so after Natsu woke up. Wrath in his lapse of judgement forgot to make sure only Natsu would hear him, so when he woke up Natsu, he woke the others as well. The two had not been happy and had attacked Wrath with the demon merely smiling in anticipation shortly before going back to sleep.

'I must say rather aggressive in the morning aren't you?' Was Natsu's response. Natsu merely tuned it out before he directed his thoughts to Rebellion.

'How much farther do I have to walk, before we get there?'

'About 3 miles.' Rebellion said with a shrug that was unseen by Natsu. Natsu sighed as he travelled farther into the overgrowth.

'This had better be worth it Rebellion.'

The spirit merely spoke in an assured tone, 'Trust me, it is more than worth it.' Natsu merely trekked on his mind racing over all the possibilities and was about to speak until he was interrupted by Wrath.

'If you are finished I feel it's time for your first lesson.' The devil said in a slightly annoyed tone, as he was thinking on what to teach his human counterpart. Until it came to him and a shit eating grin spread across his face. 'And I know the perfect thing.'

Natsu stopped on top of a large boulder looking down into a large valley near the base of the mountain. 'What do you have in mind?' he asked his eagerness to learn a wicked technique beginning to grow.

Instead of answering him, Wrath merely chuckled before speaking, 'What I want you to do is to channel your demonic energy to your Devil Bringer and then swing it at the nearest tree.'

Natsu quirked his head to the side confused, 'What the hell is a Devil Bringer?' he asked.

Wrath within Natsu's mind face-faulted as he realized he forgot to tell Natsu the name of his knew arm before he stood and answered Natsu. 'The Devil Bringer is the demonic ability currently activated on your right arm.

Natsusmirked, 'Easy.' However, Wrath continued in his instruction.

'While standing at least 5ft away, NO EXCEPTIONS. Now get to it.'

Natsu merely stood in the same spot, a small tick mark appearing on his head. 'What the hell is that supposed to do? I can't hit the damn thing if I'm that far away.' He ranted angrily at his devil half.

Wrath instead was cryptic in answering while trying to keep himself from laughing. 'it is as they say, that sometimes one must first learn how to run before they can walk. Now begin!'

'Alright, now shut up and let me focus.' Natsu exclaimed.

Natsu merely sighed before looking around, and stared at a decent sized tree, about 6ft away. He then drew back his right arm; feet shoulder width apart, while channeling the little devil energy that he could towards it, unknowing of the slight flicker of a spectral arm appearing above it. Natsu after a few moments felt that he had enough and launched his arm forward, and watched wide-eyed as a red spectral version of his arm appeared and copied the movement and decimated the tree causing it to collapse, before vanishing just as quickly.

Natsu stared at his arm in shock, the lines having a more noticeable glow to them before it dimmed to normal. 'What the hell was that?' he asked in shock, waiting anxiously for a response.

'Most impressive, to be able to perform that ability on the first try.' Wrath exclaimed, in a smug tone. 'It's called Buster.' He explained as Natsu stood listening with rapt attention, 'It causes your devil energy to manifest as an arm separate to your body but follows your every move with your right arm. And the more control you have over your demonic power, the larger it can become.' Wrath paused, before he continued with a grin, 'You can also grab things and people from a distance, along with a few special abilities but we can save that for a later time.'

Natsu stared in a stunned silence, before a Cheshire cat grin crossed his face at all the possibilities that came to mind now that he knew how to use it. Mainly to humiliate his ice using rival. 'This is gonna be fun.' He said before chuckling evilly in his mind which concerned his other two companions especially Rebellion after noticing Wrath doing the same thing out of the corner of his eye.

Rebellion turned to Naitoro, and the young dragon looked at the ancient blade with a look of slight apprehension. 'I have a very bad feeling about this.'

'It can't be that bad.' Rebellion said with a dead panned expression as Naitoro sighed in defeat.

'True, he could do worse. I just hope that Erza doesn't find out.'

'...We are so dead.'

While the two rational spirits conversed of Natsu's imminent doom, the other two were discussing all sorts of schemes to get back at everyone at Fairy Tail, for tricks and insults from when Natsu was a kid. Meanwhile in Fairy Tail, all the guild members suddenly felt a chill go down their spines along with a sense of foreboding.

'What the hell was that about?' they all thought simultaneously before going back to what they were doing. Although a few were still wary looking over their shoulder as if waiting for something to go wrong.

Except Erza who was sitting at the team table eating a slice of strawberry cake before, she suddenly had the urge to laugh and at the same time beat the shit out of Natsu for no apparent reason. She scratched her head in confusion before shrugging, deciding it could wait until Natsu returned.

Wrath decided that in light of Natsu's apparent success in the usage of Buster a new and more versatile technique would be a good idea to add to his arsenal. 'Now than I have a new exercise for you. I want you to use your buster and grasp a tree, and pull yourself to it and travel like this the rest of the way.'

Natsu nodded, his face schooling itself into a serious expression, before he tried to reach the nearest branch, and made it half way there before the spectral arm stopped and returned to him. 'Damn it!' he yelled in frustration. Before he tried again…and again…and again, until he finally managed to grab the branch as he flew like a bat out of hell straight towards it, a large grin on his face at his triumph.

WHACK!

Until, branch met face anyway. Natsu fell to earth leaving an imprint of his face in the branch. As Natsu gripped his sore nose tears at the corner of his eyes, Wrath burst out laughing, with Naitoro not far behind.

Rebellion merely shook his head before he turned his attention to Natsu, 'Excellent work on getting the technique down. But…I think you need to work on your aim.'

'Screw you, you skull faced senile old man.' Natsu grumbled as he stood up and dusted himself off.

'Ungrateful moron.' Rebellion answered in turn. 'We're about a mile out, I want you finish the exercise and travel the rest of the way like this.'

'Let's get going then; I still have 5 before we have to go back.' Natsu said before he launched the arm at the same branch, making sure he wasn't aimed directly at the trunk before launching himself upward and vanishing into the thick forest growth.

After about an hour, Natsu was still flying through the trees taking turns between grappling and jumping from branch to branch. He stopped momentarily gazing towards the sky and the rest of the forest to get his bearings. He used the position of the sun and figured it was about, 1 in the afternoon. He was ready to move on when Rebellion stopped him mid jump.

'Natsu, that's enough. We're here.'

Natsu leaped down to the forest floor landing in a crouch, his senses on high alert for any possible beast that may be nearby. After a few minutes he relaxed slightly, his body still tensed, ready to move as he looked around. He now stood at the base of the mountain with the area consisting of a large clearing with a river running through near the edge, with a cave leading into the mountain.

Natsu stared around confused, having expected…something. 'Rebellion…are you sure we're in the right place?' he asked as he walked into the center of the clearing.

'No doubt about it. This is the place.' The ancient spirit said, his mind assaulted with memories of his time here with Dante, when he finally began to learn and accept his darker half. 'This was your father's old training ground, when he was first learning to master his powers' Rebellion explained, as Natsu looked around, imagining an almost exact copy of him running around and going through the various exercises and moves.

'So…that's the only reason you brought me here? A fucking, clearing!' Natsu yelled in annoyance and anger.

'No, the reason I brought you here is because there is something your father left for you here. You just have to find it.' Rebellion responded calmly having expected Natsu to react that way.

Natsu sighed in frustration, 'Did he leave any clues as to where or what the hell I'm looking for?' he asked after a few minutes trying to calm down.

'Only one. That only those born of mortal enemies may find it.' Was his cryptic response.

Natsu stood in the center of the clearing, utterly confused. 'What the hell does that mean?' he said.

Rebellion knew what Dante had hidden and where, but he wanted Natsu to find it himself. Then Rebellion realized that when he had been given the clue, Dante had believed that he would be around to raise his son, along with Mavis before that chance was taken from him. By Zeref and Mundus rise to power. But that could wait for a more appropriate time. Rebellion decided that maybe he could give Natsu a little more to work with.

'Natsu,' Rebellion said, snapping Natsu from his thoughts, 'I may be able to better help you understand what he meant. And I think it's time you learned a little about your father.' Natsu stood silent as the sword finished. He silently moved and sat underneath a large oak tree, which stood near the edge of the clearing. After noticing, Natsu seemingly waiting, Rebellion began.

'Where to even begin?' Rebellion mused aloud, before he decided that Natsu could learn more later. Natsu only needed the basics. 'Your father was an extremely…colourful individual. In many ways you are almost a carbon copy, right down to personality. Though your father at an early time in his life, was as different from the man I knew to how you are to Gray.' Rebellion paused, as Natsu asked him a question.

'What do you mean by that?'

Rebellion paused thinking over his answer, before he responded. 'Your father was a very…angry individual when he was younger. Especially when the subject of your uncle came up-' Rebellion was interrupted when Natsu stood up his eyes wide in shock and disbelief.

'Wait, I have an uncle!?' he exclaimed a smile appearing on his face. After all these years of believing he would never know and in less than a week he finds out about his mother and father and now his uncle. It filled him with happiness that he never thought he would experience. Maybe he could ask Rebellion where he could find him, maybe he could ask him about his parents-. Rebellions next words however shattered those thoughts.

'Not anymore. He died shortly before your father did.'

Natsu visibly stiffened, eyes wide hearing how his only possible connection to his past was already long dead and buried. 'Wh-What. How!?' Natsu asked his eyes betraying him as a tear trailed down his cheek. It pained him to have gotten his hopes up only to learn that it was impossible to meet his uncle, unless he could speak to the dead.

Rebellion was silent, staring at the vast ocean of Ethernano in Natsu's inner world remembering the times long since passed, his gaze settled firmly on the sand and rock beneath his boot clad feet as he spoke.

'A great evil, one who was hunting your father and mother for years suddenly got to close. This was around the time you were born so your uncle decided to confront this danger alone, knowing that your father had more important things to worry about now.' Rebellion lifted his gaze a single ember falling to the sand.

'He fought valiantly, but it wasn't enough. He was defeated and…' Rebellion paused, cautious to reveal what happened to the eldest Son of Sparda. Natsu took the choice from him however.

'WHAT HAPPENED? ANSWER ME GODDAMMIT!' Natsu yelled tears of rage and utter hate falling from his eyes. He wanted desperately to know how his uncle died, even if only to say that he knew what had taken him from this earth.

'Your uncle was enslaved and tortured; his mind turning into a prison for what little sanity remained and his body became a mockery of what he once was, before he was ordered to execute your mother and father, leaving enough of your uncles' mind to witness as he was to murder and slaughter the last of his family.' Rebellion sighed knowing the next few words would deeply pain not only Natsu but himself as well. 'Your father had no choice but to kill him. Your father desperately tried to save him but it was too late, nothing we could have done would've been able to save what was left of him. I'm sorry Natsu.'

Natsu stared at the ground his tears having stopped only moments ago his hand bleeding as he clenched his fists his eyes, becoming slit as his rage began to grow, instinct hardwired to kill, destroy that which had harmed his family most.

'Who captured him.'

'Did Igneel tell you of the demon war?'

'Yes.'

'Then you already know, who. The man who led the campaign to exterminate the human race.'

Natsu knew who he spoke of, the tales of the mad prince being something Igneel had told him once in a while to pass the time.

Mundus.

And Natsu swore then and there that he would find the Demon Prince and he would utterly annihilate him leaving nothing but ashes in his wake. But that was for a different time. Now all he could think about was the family he never knew, all taken from him before he could even know them. Fresh tears fell to the ground as Natsu let the feeling of anguish that he had hidden for years finally flow as he mourned in the large clearing.

'It is alright to mourn for your loved ones Natsu but you must also remain strong. Do not let your sadness consume you for only your rage, your determination can lead you to greater heights.'

Rebellion watched helpless as his partner continued to grieve. Just like his father before him. 'Your father spent most of his life, mourning your grandmother and in the last year of his life, his older brother as well. You too will one day have your time to grieve but it is not now. You should focus on the good memories of them, many of which I would be glad to share with you.'

The flames atop Rebellions' head dimmed to a soft blue as he looked back on the good years he spent with Dante as one memory in particular came to mind. I know that I and my brother have never seen your uncle as happy as he was when Dante told him that your mother was pregnant.' Rebellion chuckled at the memory,' To be honest it kind of unsettled the three of us at seeing Vergil smile like that.'

Natsu nodded as he wiped away the tears. Rebellion was right, there would be time to grieve and mourn but it was not now. Thankful for the advice, and council, Natsu lightly smiled at the thought of growing up with his family, as the image of a man in blue sitting on the deck of a small house talking to a man in red as his mother chased him around the yard before he chuckled, 'Vergil huh? My family had some unique names.' He said. Before something Rebellion said came back to him.

'Wait a sec…did you just say, YOUR brother?'

'Yes I did. My elder brother Yamato, who was wielded by your uncle, who received the sword from your grandfather, just like I was given to your father.' But we can discuss that later. Right now I need to return to my story and banish these depressing thoughts'

Natsu chuckled hoarsely his throat slightly dry from his crying. 'Sorry.'

'Quite alright. Now where was I? Ah yes. The root of your father's anger I suppose stemmed from the conflict between him and Vergil as children whom changed upon the death of your grandmother were they both went their separate ways. Until a few years after that your father received a message from your uncle. It said that Vergil wanted to meet at the ancient gateway to the demon world.' Rebellion said as Natsu sat in silence.

'It turns out your uncle, in exile had…changed. He sought the legendary Force Edge, the blade wielded by your grandfather in the Demon War. He wanted the sword to make himself a full demon, believing that the human half he possessed would only make him weak. Your father was the opposite.' Rebellion paused hopeful that Natsu would understand why he said that.

'Dante despised his demonic half, with a zeal that bordered on absolute fury. He wanted nothing more than to be human, to leave the life on the run, of being the hunter far behind-'

'Why did dad hate his demonic half so much?' Rebellion paused at the sudden question. Natsu had listened patiently but after he heard that his curiosity got the best of him.

Rebellion was silent for a few minutes, and Natsu began to get anxious, believing he had offended the spirit, 'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have interu-'

'Your father hated what he was because a demon murdered your grandmother when he was 7.' Rebellion cut Natsu off deciding that Natsu needed to know.

Natsu sat in stunned silence as he slumped against the tree, his head looking towards the ground, at the thought of what his father went through, constantly reminded that a part of him was related to what had taken his mother from him.

'The demons were loyalists of Mundus and sought out your father and uncle to get revenge. Your grandmother tried to stop them and was killed. That was also the night your uncle and father went their separate ways until Vergil contacted Dante. But that is enough for now, we can talk about your father's history some other time.' Rebellion said, before he asked Natsu a question.

'Now do you understand what your father meant by his clue?'

Natsu shook off the depressing thoughts of his family and thought over Rebellion's question. 'Only one born of mortal enemies can find.' Natsu sat in his thinking pose as he looked over what he was told. Suddenly Natsu's eyes snapped open, a grin on his face.

His father was born from a demon and a human. Natsu had learned of the Demon War from Igneel where humanity was pushed to the brink before Sparda turned the tide for them. The greatest of enemies. While, in his grandparents' case and he chuckled to himself at his next thought, star crossed lovers.

Natsu grinned after putting what Rebellion told him to use. 'Only a person who has demonic and human blood can find it.'

Rebellion smirked within Natsu's mind proud that the young man had figured it out. 'Good work. But now we have no more time to waste. We have to begin your training.'

'How?' Natsu asked.

'Look around. You should be able to feel the traces of demonic power in the air.'

Natsu nodded he could feel his body reacting to it as he felt a need to fight begin to build. 'Why is there demonic energy here?'

'Your father found a way to create a makeshift Hellgate. It allowed demons E-class through S-class to enter the world and he trained by fighting them. It also allowed him to collect other Devil Arms with some of the higher class demons.' Rebellion explained.

'Why didn't I just go on a monster extermination mission?' Natsu asked slightly annoyed. 'I get paid and I get to learn how to use my powers.' He goes and kicks ass, gets paid and learns how to use his family legacy. Fuck yeah he would do it. Not to mention the utter havoc he would cause with said powers.

'Though that maybe the case, this is a more controlled environment than a mission. Besides this way you don't get in trouble with the council for destruction of property.'

Natsu huffed his arms crossed pouting slightly, 'I am not that bad old man.'

Rebellion merely spoke in a deadpan tone. 'I saw what you did to the tower. And your memories. You have a habit for destruction just like your mother and father. To be honest you are even MORE destructive then the pair of them.'

Natsu grumbled under his breath about 'shitty old swords' and 'it's not my fault.' He schooled his face into a serious expression after he finished. 'Alright, now how do I activate the Hellgate?' he asked as he looked for anything out of the ordinary.

'Merely channel some demonic power through your body. And the gate will respond. I suggest having a few E-class come through first as a test run, see where you stand.' Rebellion told Natsu, who nodded before he channelled some of his demonic power causing his body to be shrouded in a crimson aura as he flashed between his normal body and his Trigger form as he slowly increased the amount. As he did a magic seal appeared underneath him that was jet-black in colour with the image of a demonic skull as the centre piece, with a pentagram surrounding it.

Rebellion meanwhile was awed at the raw power Natsu was unleashing. His father at his age had nowhere near this much demonic power even after his awakening. He knew Natsu was powerful but this was simply unreal. The ancient blade knew that Natsu had potential but it still amazed him at how easily Natsu was learning how to use his abilities. Rebellion smirked within Natsu's mind as he watched his wielder harness the chaotic power within him.

'You would be proud of the man he's become…Dante.' After a few more minutes, Natsu began to tire, when Rebellion stopped him, 'Natsu that's enough, the gate should be open.'

Natsu slowly let his energy return to him and stared at the ground noting how the magic symbol, became solid stone beneath his feet, with the designs staying jet-black while the earth underneath turned a dark grey. Natsu tapped it with his foot testing to see if it was real stone and not an illusion.

'Cool.' he said simply. He turned his attention to Rebellion. 'Now what happens?'

'Watch and you will see.' Rebellion said. 'I suggest you get ready.'

Natsu had a fanged grin spread across his face, as he summoned Rebellion and propped it on his shoulder. 'This should be fun.'

'Oh and Natsu?'

Natsu quirked his brow, 'Uhh…yes?'

'No Fire Slayer magic. Just sword skills and demonic abilities'

Natsu smirked, 'And if I do use my magic?' he asked thinking that Rebellion couldn't do anything to him.

'Then I have Wrath make you grope Mira, in front of Erza.' Rebellion said simply, causing Natsu's eyes to widen.

'You wouldn't…' Natsu said horrified as the thought of what Erza and Mira would do to him ran through his mind. Little did he know that one of the two wouldn't mind in the slightest.

'Try me.'

'… I fucking hate you.' Natsu grumbled under his breath.

'Noted.'

Natsu sighed, 'Alright you win. No Dragon Slayer magic.' He watched as the symbol on the Hellgate glowed before a large dark mass of what looked like…were those bugs? They rose to form a small…hill before splitting into 7 separate entities.

The top layer shifted until it looked like rotten rags that were hastily stitched together. What Natsu noticed the most were the large cleaver like blades that made up the right arm of each demon. They looked similar to something he remembered seeing in his childhood.

'Scarecrows, I should've known.' Rebellion said after using his connection to Natsu to see what came through the gate.

'They dangerous?' Natsu asked as he watched the scarecrows began to hobble towards him.

'Alone, not really. But be careful if you're surrounded. They can become a real problem even if they are low E-class.'

Natsu gave a fanged grin, as he watched one of the scarecrows crouch, its arm drawn back. "Good. I needed a decent fight. Now let's rock!" he yelled as the scarecrow launched itself at him its arm descending in an ark trying to cleave him in half. Natsu raised Rebellion and slashed at the scarecrow the blade on its arm erupting in sparks as Rebellion made contact, sending the demon flying.

The others took that as the signal and they all launched themselves at him. Natsu grinned and waited until the first one swiped at him. He sidestepped and smashed his elbow into its back, sending it into the first one which turned around just as the other one made contact. Natsu used the side step and the added momentum and slashed at the nearest scarecrow and was satisfied with the resounding shriek that came from the creature after he left a large gash, from shoulder to shoulder before he kicked it in the chest sending it to the edge of the gate.

Natsu saw the last 4 all come closer and he merely smirked, grabbing Rebellion with both hands, legs shoulder width apart, slightly bent as he waited as the scarecrows came closer and closer. And then he vanished appearing beside the first and swung Rebellion in a flash of silver and continued on and landed in a crouch, with Rebellion ready to skewer the second one, as the first erupted in a shower of blood, the top half separating from the bottom.

He launched himself forward his sword skewering the scarecrow, and watched as it swung its cleaver like arm at his head. Natsu ducked before he swung the Devil Bringer at its knees slicing them off as it shrieked in pain before tumbling to the ground Rebellion holding in place. Using the momentum from the swing he spun and faced the other two and pulled Ebony from its holster and fired as they collapsed onto the ground.

Natsu frowned as he stared at the unmoving demons. "That was way too easy." He mumbled to himself as he heard a grinding sound as he turned to look over his shoulder at the scarecrow he had knocked away with Rebellion. He looked around and noted how the others all stood, save the one he sliced in half. He watched as the wounds on the scarecrows all filled with dark ooze before they sealed shut, covered in new stitches. The one pinned by Rebellion managed to split open wide enough to rise up as it began to heal itself.

"Figured as much." He said as he yanked Rebellion out of the gate before propping it against his shoulder Ebony gripped in his left hand the dark metal seeming to gain a shimmer feeling the intent of its user after so long without real battle. A grin slowly made its way across his face as he watched them all begin to circle him, appearing to be more cautious.

Good it meant they would no longer underestimate him and he would make them fear him before all is said and done.

Suddenly two of them stood beside each other and merged together. He watched his head tilted to the side as the figure that emerged stood a good 8ft with two bladed arms that were easily 6ft long and shaped similar to a butcher's knife. It spoke in a raspy voice after staring at Natsu for a few minutes.

"So." It said its head tilted to the side as it stared at Natsu. While the other scarecrows backed off a little bit as it began to circle Natsu, his eyes never leaving the creature for a minute his grip on Ebony solid as he flexed his fingers anticipating the attack sure to come.

"The blood of the traitor still lives on." It said simply its beady black eyes showing untold hatred for the man before it.

"What the hell are you?" Natsu asked his eyes narrowed. "And what do you mean by blood of the traitor?"

"It does not matter for you will be dead soon anyway. So there is no need to explain myself to you, insect." It said as it stared at him before it disappeared. Natsu looked around his senses running wild looking for the new foe. Suddenly he felt his body scream at him to dive and with no hesitation launched himself to the side the two blades that made up the creatures arms slammed into the ground.

"Impressive for one so young." It said with some respect in its voice, as it raised its weapons once more. Natsu could almost see the malevolence and hatred flowing in the blades all desiring one thing.

To separate his head from his shoulders. Yeah not gonna happen. Erza would probably bring him back to life just to kill his sorry ass again for letting such a weak enemy kill him.

Natsu smirked as he gave an exaggerated bow his head tilted so he could keep his eyes on the demon. "Not bad yourself from a freaking compost heap in rags." He said with a smirk as the creature hissed in anger at the insult before it spoke.

"Insolent brat!" The creature reared back as Natsu continued to smirk. "Let's see if this proves to be any fun before I gut you and crush your skull like an egg!" It launched at Natsu who lifted Rebellion and slashed at its midsection with Ebony unloading into the creatures side black blood staining the stone beneathe their feet as it hissed in pain. With first blood going to Natsu the other crows finally attacked with Natsu having his back turned. Natsu heard the shrieks from the other crows behind him.

He turned and fired at the crows not taking his eyes off the bigger threat though he could hear the shrieks of pain before silence returned.

Natsu looked over his shoulder keeping the larger demon within his peripherals and saw the scarecrows dissolve into black ooze and vanish. After seeing that only the large one was left Natsu launched himself towards the larger crow, coating the blade in his demonic energy and launched a crescent wave of black and crimson towards it tearing up the gate as it went before it sliced its left arm off when it jumped to the side to try and avoid the attack, and it screamed in rage and pain.

Natsu stared straight at it, his face a blank mask, while his thoughts were racing a mile a minute. 'Rebellion, what the hell did I do?'

'You used one of my abilities.' Rebellion said, his voice having a tone of pride. 'It's called Overdrive and was one of your father's personal favourites.' Natsu was about to ask how to use it again when the creature turned towards him the stump of its arm covered in a new piece of rotting cloth.

"AHHHH! DAMN YOU PATHIC INSECT!" It roared and slashed at Natsu who merely blocked and parried each slash, his instincts taking control, and Rebellion subconsciously aiding him. Natsu knowing that he would need both hands put Ebony back in its holster as he switched Rebellion to his left hand the Devil Bringer now free to do its work.

To Natsu the creature was moving in slow motion and he bided his time waiting for the perfect moment. Biding his time Natsu saw the opening he needed and let loose as he summoned all his demonic power and launched a solid uppercut to the creatures exposed side.

It was launched skyward when Natsu used his spectral arm and grabbed it before he slammed it into the ground. He leaped and once he was above it slammed Rebellion into its stomach pinning it to the gate. Natsu leaned back to avoid one of the blades trying to take of his head as he reared back and launched a flurry of blows with his right hand the demonic arm causing the stone underneath to splinter and crack before he sensed the demon was no longer living. It vanished in the same black ooze as Natsu calmly resealed Rebellion.

'I thought they would be tougher than that I mean for Christ's sake Gray was tougher than this when we were kids!' Natsu whined unsatisfied with the fight. While it had gotten a little exciting it was far too easy to kill those E-class demons. Hell he was an A-class wizard before he unlocked all his other and hidden powers. Natsu pouted starting to wish he had brought Erza along at least then he would get a good fight, hell he might even finally win! A grin burst across his face as he thought of what winning against Erza would feel like until his mind took a more mature turn at the thought of Erza wearing one of her more…revealing armors as he gained a slight blush.

Hey he may have been an idiot but he still knew the 'Birds and the Bees' and if he was being totally honest with himself Erza was absolutely gorgeous. Thank god that when she wore her armor he sense of modesty was highly supressed.

'An excellent first step Natsu one of many upon the path you now walk.' Rebellion said breaking Natsu from his foul mood. 'But do you truly believe that this one step towards obtaining your legacy is enough to prepare yourself to battle a demon horde?' Rebellion questioned as he turned towards the temple at the peak of the volcano within Wraths claimed territory.

'If that is the case then you are truly naïve.' Rebellion stated as he continued with his lesson, critiquing Natsu on stance, reaction, anything and everything to the too strong grip he had on the hilt of his weapon to the arrogance that reared its head with the scarecrows defeat. Time would bring experience and that would be the key factor in whether Natsu would survive the trials ahead.

'Now enough chit-chat you still have plenty of sunlight so get back to it. Show that you are worthy of your legacy.' Rebellion exclaimed as the gate roared to life once more as Natsu stared at the setting sun his fanged grin appearing once more.

'Wherever you may be dad, and if mom is with you, I'll make you proud. And I will stop Mundus, even if costs me my last breath.' Natsu closed his eyes as he turned to watch the new demons spawn in front of him as he pulled Ebony and Ivory side by side his eyes glowing with power and tattered vest blowing in the breeze.

"Let's party!"
