Author's Note: Sorry this is late but it was Thanksgiving and I had a project due. This is also the last chapter. It's a time jump since it won't be exciting to have them just sitting in a hospital room while Stiles heals. I hope you like this chapter

Chapter 23 (Epilogue)

Stiles POV

So after weeks of pining, Derek and I are finally together. Waking up to find him waiting to declare his love for me was awesome. Ok I know that is kind of corny but who cares, it was romantic as hell and I don't give a crap what anyone thinks. I never thought that he'd actually have feelings for me, let alone love me. I was completely prepared to deal with these feelings as one-sided, but I'm glad I don't have to.

The days in the hospital were perfect. We might not have spent the entire time speaking and all that, but lying there with his hand in mine made everything awesome. Ok, now that was really corny. When we did talk, I finally got to know the Derek that was hidden under that famous glare. He told me about what his family was like before the fire, what his life was like in New York, and what he hoped to do one day. Seeing him talk about his family made me fall for him even more. Though there was a sadness in his eyes, there was also an innocence and love that I had never seen before.

The one thing that did suck was having to recover. I was in the hospital for a week while they made sure my stitches could heal and that the chances for infection were lowered. The pain was definitely bad, but luckily Derek was there to help me with it. Thank you freaky wolf powers. When I finally went home, I was put on bed rest to keep from tearing out my stitches. The bright side of that was I was now in a bigger bed which meant I could snuggle up with Derek. I always knew he was a snuggler.

I can tell you one thing now. Derek is one hell of a good kisser. Every time he kisses me it literally makes me light headed. He knows exactly what to do to make me forget everything besides what I am doing in that moment. We haven't progressed past that, but considering we haven't even gone on a proper date yet, I think it's understandable.

Today, I finally got my stitches out. I stand in front of the mirror looking at the scars that they left, another reminder of the dangerous life I am living, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It keeps my life exciting.

Just then my phone beeps and I see that I got a text from Derek.

Sourwolf: What are you doing right now?

Stiles: Checking out my awesome body in the mirror

Sourwolf: Ok…you free to do something with me?

Stiles: Of Course…I'm always free for you, Sourwolf.

Sourwolf: You know I hate that nickname

Stiles: We've had this discussion before and you've agreed that it could be worse

Stiles: What do you want to do?

Sourwolf: True…how about I pick you up in 15?

Stiles: Sounds good…see you then

Stiles: Love you

Sourwolf: Love you too

It looks like I might be having my first date with Derek after all. I wonder what he is planning. I doubt it is something romantic, but you never know. I get dressed in jeans, a graphic tee, and a jacket and wait downstairs for Derek.

I hear the Camaro drive up and am up off the couch before Derek can even knock on the door. I open it to see him standing there in a grey Henley and his signature tight jeans. I swear, no man will ever be hotter than him.

"Hi" I say with a smile plastered on my face.

"Hey" he responds before bending down to place his lips upon mine. Before I can move to deepen the kiss he is pulling back. "Come on, let's go. I have something planned."

I followed him out to his car and we drove off. It looked like he was headed out of town, but at the last minute he turned down a familiar road.

"We're headed to your house?"

"Well not exactly. There's a stream behind it that is really nice when the sun is setting. I thought we could go by it and have a little picnic."

"Wow that sounds really sweet and romantic. Part of me was expecting something a little different than that, but this is perfect."

We pull up in front of his house and head behind it towards the stream. "I never realized this was here. And that it's so close to your house."

"Well you never really had the chance to check out the property. You know considering you were more focused on either getting me arrested or killing Peter or helping Scott."

"Well, you moved out of this house a while ago so I haven't had the chance to hang out here, though to be honest. I don't think I would want to hang around here. I get this is your family home, but it looks like a death trap." I saw his face drop just a little bit. "I'm sorry if that was insensitive."

"It's ok. I have been thinking about rebuilding it, but I just didn't have the time."

"Wait, can you actually afford to do that?"

"Well, I do have money from my family's life insurance and the insurance from the house."

"Wait, are you loaded?"

"I wouldn't say that. I can afford to redo the house and I have enough money to cover my expenses, but I still want to get a job to make money."

"Wow, my boyfriend is rich. Awesome."

"I'm not rich."

'Whatever." I say wrapping my arms around his shoulders. "But I am glad that you're thinking of rebuilding. It's time for you to get rid of the bad memories here and make some new ones. Plus I don't want to be dating the weird guy that lives in the burned down shell of a house in the middle of the woods. That's creepy."

He moved to wrap his hands around my waist. "Oh, is that true?"

"Yea, very creepy." I move in closer to place my lips upon his. He quickly moves to deepen the kiss. Once again I get wrapped up in the kiss. The way our lips move together is hypnotic, it was as if we had been doing it for years instead of just a few weeks. He pulled away and my breath was coming in gasps. A small chuckle escaped my lips. "What's so funny?"

"We can officially be one of those corny couples from those TV sitcoms. Your kissing took my breath away."

"Well I guess that's better than some supernatural TV show. Now let's get this whole picnic thing going. I kind of would like to have an actual date with you for once instead of just sitting next to you while you lie in bed healing."

"Like you didn't enjoy doing that."

"I'm not saying I hated it, but it is nice to be with you outside the walls of the hospital or your room."

"Well I'm glad to be outside with you as well. Now let's this date going."

We spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the stream and just talking. He's once again freer than I've seen him. I'm glad I get to see this side of him. We talk back and forth and the conversation is easy. After a while we find a nice calm silence. We spend a good half hour just lying down together and enjoying being together. My mind is left to wonder about where this will all lead.

"You've been really quiet." Derek says while gently stroking my arm.

"So have you."

"Yes, but you're never this quiet."

"I'm not quiet. I'm being thoughtful."

"What are you thinking of?"

I roll over and sit up wanting to look at him when we talk. He sits up and faces me as well. "I was just thinking about the future and what it will be like?"

"Well what do you want it to be like?"

"Well I can tell you what I know it will be like. It's going to be crazy. We know that the odd of us having a mellow life is not going to happen, but I'm actually ok with that. I mean what is life like without rogue werewolves and witches. We're always going to be in danger, I mean you're a werewolf."

"Don't you think everything will be easier if you weren't dating a werewolf?"

"I hate to break it to you, but I'm not going anywhere. I'm here as long as you want me to be here."

"Good, because I already wasted enough time denying my feelings, now I just want to be with you."

"That sounds perfect."

We get up and start to head back to the car. He moves to grab my hand and intertwine our fingers.

I think over everything that has happened and come to a realization. "You know, this whole thing is kind of crazy."

"What is crazy?"

"The only reason we are finally together is because both of us realized our feelings unexpectedly after the other was hurt during a fight."

"We would've probably figured it out eventually. Though given the two of us it would probably have taken us a lot longer."

"True. Even though all of this wasn't what I was expecting, I'm glad it all happened."

He stopped and turned to face me, wrapping his arms around my waist. "Even the part where you were nearly killed by an Alpha?"

"Yes, even that part." I moved in and pressed our lips together. Life was not going to be easy for us, but at least we finally figured all our crap out. Now we just have to face whatever challenges lie ahead. No matter what happens, I hope we face those challenges together.

Author's Note: So that is the end. Sorry if it is too corny for you, but I have a cheesy mind. Thank you to everyone that read this story. Don't forget to check out my other stories. I found out when I read my other two stories that not everything matches up and I'm sorry about that, but I do swear that they are pretty decent. I don't have any ideas as of right now for future fics, but I know that I'm most definitely going to find some sort of inspiration when the new season starts. Thanks for reading.
