Sebastian stared at the man in front of him, the rest of the world falling away as he was confronted by the source of his nightmares, who appeared to be paying him no attention whatsoever. Instead, Jonathan was heading straight towards Clary, oblivious to the other shadow hunter by her side, however this soon changed, and as Jonathan recognized Sebastian, he too completely froze. Sebastian and Jonathan stared at each other, neither quite understanding how it was possible for the other to be there, and Clary took what she knew was probably going to be the only opportunity for her to attack Jonathan whilst he was distracted. Clary lunged at him, a dagger already in hand, and even though Jonathan only turned his head at the last second, finally tearing his gaze away from Sebastian, he still managed to intercept her blow, although not as easily as usual. Clary already had another dagger in her other hand, but Jonathan dodged that attack as well, however to do so he had to drop his own dagger and grab Clary's wrist. Sebastian saw him tighten his hand around Clary's wrist, obviously about to break it with brute force, and Sebastian finally swung into action. Unsheathing his sword in one fluid movement Sebastian went to strike Jonathan, who again managed to duck away at the last moment, letting Clary go as he did so. Sebastian immediately went to attack again, and without having a weapon to defend himself with, Jonathan had no choice but to meet the blow, trying to angle his body so the blade only cut through his shoulder rather than piercing any more vulnerable areas of his body. Sebastian went to strike again, but as he readied himself Jonathan moved with lightening fast speed, and ran forward, a dagger suddenly in his hand. Sebastian tried to step back and regain his footing so he could take a defensive stance, but Jonathan was simply too fast, and a sudden flash of pain in Sebastian's torso let him know that Jonathan had hit his target. Still, the wound wasn't too deep, and Sebastian forced his body to continue to fight as he raised his sword again. Jonathan was already heading towards Clary again, who was trying to draw something with her stele, and so Sebastian thought he had a clear shot of Jonathan from the back. He was however mistaken, as Jonathan managed to turn and once again intercept Sebastian's blow, however the action did place extra pressure on Jonathan's shoulder, and Sebastian saw his wound tear open more, and blood started to run down his arm and chest. Just as Jonathan turned his full attention to Sebastian once again, his face fell, a look of panic coming over his features. Sebastian was confused by the expression, especially as the source of his horror seemed to be coming from behind Sebastian, but before Sebastian could ponder the situation any more, Jonathan turned on his heel, and ran. Sebastian was so stunned he didn't react for a few seconds, and by the time he went to chase after Jonathan, he disappeared into a doorway that had appeared, and had been completely invisible before. Sebastian followed Jonathan to the spot he'd disappeared into, but as he'd expected any evidence of what had provided the dark shadow hunter with an escape was gone. Sebastian stared at the place where Jonathan had vanished, his mind still trying to make sense of everything, when he felt a comforting hand on his shoulder, and Sebastian finally turned around. Jace, Alec, and Izzy all stood behind Sebastian, with the two younger Lightwoods pottering over Clary, having dispatched of all the demons. It was then that he realised what had happened, and why Jonathan's plan had fallen apart.

"Jonathan must have organized the attack, he knew we'd keep Clary out of harms way, and that she'd be open target for him to take," Alec said in between pants, as he'd run as fast as he could once he'd seen that Sebastian was in danger.

As Sebastian turned to face everyone fully Alec saw the wound from Jonathan's dagger, and he stepped forward, stele already in hand. He quickly started to lift Sebastian's shirt up and trace an iratze on the wound, and Sebastian whispered a thank you to him, as the shock of the attack wore off and he started to feel the pain from the injury.

"Are you hurt anywhere else?" Alec asked, and Sebastian shook his head.

"Then why didn't it work? Jonathan's plan," Sebastian said once he'd walked over to everyone.

"He obviously didn't expect you to be here," Jace said.

"Jonathan thought he'd killed you, it must be quite a surprise, seeing you back from the grave," Izzy said as she and Jace finally finished checking Clary for any injuries.

"Those few seconds of him not knowing what to do when he saw you, and then the extra fighting time with you instead of just Clary, it was enough for us to get through killing the demons early, and then come back. He knew that taking all of us on, especially when you'd already injured him, would not be a good idea," Alec said, emphasizing the fact that Sebastian had managed to get a good blow in.

"Good thing you were there," Jace said, and he was surprised to receive an angry glare from Alec.

"He shouldn't have been. Do you really think the only reason I wanted to fight along side Sebastian was because we're dating? If you had been with Clary, and I'd have been with Sebastian during the fight we would have been much more evenly spread, skill wise. None of this would have happened if you hadn't decided to throw a hissy fit over our parabatai bonding sessions," Alec snapped at Jace.

"So you're saying this is my fault?" Jace asked incredulously.

"It's no ones fault," Clary offered.

"Well, it is Jonathan's fault," Izzy added.

"I'm saying you should listen to me," Alec replied, ignoring both girls. "Your arrogance got Sebastian hurt, and he is the only reason Clary hasn't been swooped up by Jonathan and taken to Angel knows where."

As Jace was about to reply Izzy stepped in between the two brothers and put her arms up.

"Enough you two. Let's just be glad no one was seriously harmed, and go home," Izzy said, and Jace rolled his eyes and started to walk ahead of the group, Clary trailing after him whilst attempting to talk to him, weary of the slight glow he was already giving off.

Izzy gave Alec an understanding look and then followed Jace, soon falling into step with Clary, who had given up on reasoning with Jace.

"Thank you, for defending me, but I feel that you might be upset about something else as well," Sebastian said, and Alec linked their hands together as they started to walk home.

"You shouldn't have had to face Jonathan alone, I should have been there with you, I'm sorry," Alec said, and Sebastian chuckled softly to himself.

"None of this was your responsibility, so there is nothing to apologise for. Anyway, I think I'm actually okay. I've always liked to face my demons head on, and being able to stab them is an added bonus," Sebastian said, making Alec smile despite everything.

After the ordeals of the night Alec was expecting a quiet night once they all arrived, possibly with some Jace drama, but aside from that he was ready to simply relax with his boyfriend. It seemed however that fate had other plans as Alec saw once he arrived in the living room and was greeted by someone who he honestly hadn't expected to see anytime soon.

"Father, what are you doing here?"
