DISCLAIMER: STILL DON"T OWN STARKID.
I peered around the boxes I was carrying, and used my foot to open the back door of UP Comedy Club. I set them down in the middle of the room. I had already taken the boxes with the costumes down to the other Starkids. It was the first day of 1Night2Last3Ever, and I'd been helping set up for the past hour. I heard the door creak behind me and I turned. Joe, Pat, and Jeff all walked in wearing there 'costumes'. I giggled.
"What?" Jeff asked defensively.
I shook my head. "Nothing. You guys look great." Joe winked at me, striking a pose, and I grinned.
Meredith, Denise, Lauren, and Daniel came in as well. Brian followed them in carrying a clipboard, and talking to Sarah Petty, the stage manager.
"Hey, Paige," Brian said, looking up from his clipboard, "Thanks for helping out. Where's Jim?"
Jim had been helping me carry in the boxes. "He's getting the last boxes, he should be back soon."
As if on cue, there was a knock on the back door. I pulled it open, and Jim came in, with two boxes balanced in his arms.
"I'll take one of those," I said, taking the top box. We both set them down, and then slouched onto the couch pushed up against the wall.
"That's it," Jim told Brain, "What's in them, rocks?"
"Nope," Brian responded, "Just props and microphones, and sound equipment."
I set one of the boxes on the couch and opened it up. "These are the microphones and sound equipment. What should I do with them?"
Jim pulled open another box. "This one has sound stuff too."
Sarah came forward and peered inside the boxes. "I can take those." I gave her the box and Jim followed her with the other.
"Paige, can you pull the props out?" Brian asked me, making a mark on the clipboard. He seemed a tad stressed.
"Brian," I started, "don't stress. Everything's going fine. I'll handle the props."
"Thanks, Paige," Brian said, looking slightly relieved, "I needed that."
I smiled, and pulled open the first box of props.
oOoOoOoO
I pulled open my laptop. I had finished setting up the props up about ten minutes ago, and Brian said I could take a break. The show started in less than an hour, and the others were reviewing their lines.
I opened a word document, deciding to work on my story. I hadn't worked on it for at least 4 or 5 months. I had finished the draft before getting out of college, and I was just editing now. I worked for a good half an hour, before I heard the door open. It was Joe. I signed out and closed the top of my laptop.
"Were you writing?" Joe asked as he sat down next to me.
"Nope, I'm editing," I said, "Not nearly as much fun. I just have a few more pages to edit, and then you can read it."
"I'm looking forward to that," Joe said, giving me a light kiss on the forehead.
We both stood up when we heard Brian shout 'Joe.' I checked my watch. The show was starting in fifteen minutes. Other Starkid fans were probably already filling the seats.
"You'd better get going," I told Joe, "Break a leg."
"Thanks," Joe replied, following me out of the room, "Go grab your seat. We're starting soon."
I grinned excitedly. "Brian had gotten me a front row seat, since I had helped set up. Joe and I continued down the hallway, and then parting. He was headed backstage and I had a front row seat to get to. As I got closer I could hear the excited chatter of fans. I pushed open the door. Most of the seats were filled. I walked down the aisle to the front row. There was an empty seat on the far side of the row. There was a sign taped to the backside of the seat that read 'RESERVED FOR PAIGE.' I grinned sheepishly and sat down.
"Hi," a young teenage girl in rectangular glasses and long blonde (maybe fourteen) said, smiling politely at me, "I was wondering who Paige was."
"Yup, that's me," I told him, laughing, "Excited?"
"Very," she said, "I'm Ali. This is my first time seeing the Starkids in person. How about you?"
I paused. "I've never seen any of their shows, but I've met a few of them."
"Really?" Ali questioned, curiously, "So you're a friend of theirs. That's so cool. So that's why they reserved you a seat."
"You could say I was a friend of theirs," I said, "But Brian only got me a ticket because I helped set up."
"Know anything about the show?" Ali asked, a mischievous twinkle in her eye, "Just kidding."
Shaking my head, I laughed. "They don't tell me anything. I guess you have to be a member of Starkid." I shrugged. "I wasn't allowed into any of their practices. I don't like being spoiled. I-"
I stopped, noticing the room was quieting down. The show was starting.
OoOoOoOo
"That was awesome," Ali told me as we followed the large group of Starkid fans pouring out of the room.
"Yea," I agreed, "Totally awesome."
We both laughed. I said goodbye to Ali (but not without sharing e-mails) and headed backstage. I wondered it Joe was there.
I didn't find Joe, but Lauren was there. "You were great," I said, giving her a quick hug.
"Thanks," Lauren said, "Joe's outside chatting with some of the fans, if you were looking for him."
"Why aren't you out there?" I asked.
"Just getting some water," Lauren said, taking a sip of the water bottle she had in her hand, "My throat always gets a bit dry after shows." She twisted the cap back on and set it down. "Wanna come out with me?"
I nodded, following her out of the room, and out into the cool evening air. Most of the people were gone, but a few fans were chatting with various Starkids. I followed Lauren over to where Joe was. He was chatting with several fans, and I spotted Ali among them. She spotted me, and waved. I returned the gesture.
The other three people talking with Joe saw Lauren, and said goodbye to Joe. They headed toward Lauren, and the four immediately started a conversation.
"Hey," I said to Joe and Ali.
OoOoOoOo
After talking for about ten minutes Ali said she'd better get going. "I'll walk with you to your car," I said, giving Joe a hug, "See you in a few."
Ali and I started toward the parking lot. "Can you keep a secret?" I asked Ali.
She glanced over at me. "You're Joe's girlfriend, right? Just guessing."
"Your right," I said, grinning; "Only the other Starkids and my family know, though. And now you. Can you keep it a secret, until Joe's ready to tell the fans about it?"
"Of course I can keep it to myself," Ali said, "That's so cool. I wondered if Joe was ever going to find a girl."
"We're just dating at the moment," I said, as we reached her car.
"See you, then," Ali said, giving me a hug, "Nice meeting you."
"You too," I replied, returning the hug.
I turned and started back toward the building, and heard her start her car and pull out of the parking lot.
Wow, that was a long chapter. I didn't even realize until I had finished with the chapter. Please FOLLOW/REVIEW/FAVORITE!
Starkidlov3r: Thanks for the review! There should be maybe 2 or 3 chapters after this one, and your have to wait and see if Paige becomes a Starkid. :D
