Emma and the Doctor joined Donna by the staircase.
"It's so odd being in a house with Agatha Christie when there has just been a murder." Emma said to Donna.
"Next thing you know, you'll be telling me it's like Murder On The Orient Express, and they all did it!" Donna and Emma laughed.
"Murder on the orient express?" Agatha seemed to appear from nowhere, "What on Earth is that?"
"One of your best!" Donna said as if the answer was obvious.
"One of my favorites." Emma agreed.
"Not yet." The Doctor put his hands in his pockets and shifted from his heels to the balls of his feet.
"Marvelous idea though; everybody being the murderer." Agatha mused.
"Well, I'll tell you what, copyright Donna Noble." Donna grinned.
"Anyway! Agatha and I will question the suspects, Donna, you search the bedrooms. Emma, you search the rooms on the ground floor. Look for clues." Then the Doctor whispered quietly , "Anymore residue. Take these with you."
"Your joking." Donna said when the Doctor handed Emma and Donna magnifying glasses.
"Go on. You are ever so plucky."
Lydia went off to search the office . Everything was immaculate. The books were arranged by genre, the writing instruments were aligned perfectly on the desk.
"It's odd how much humans worry about esthetics." Zedek said from behind Emma, "Place a few books on the corner of a desk and you become a hardworking citizen. Shove a plant in the corner and you become ecofriendly."
"Shut up." Emma turned to face him, "Don't be a jerk."
"Um, no?" Zedek walked around Emma to the desk and sat in the huge leather chair that sat behind the desk, "Do I look buisnessy?"
"You look like a child." Emma moved to go to another room but the door slammed closed and she couldn't pull it open, "Now you are acting like a child."
"I didn't do that." Emma heard Zedek say before blood started to pour out of her mouth and eyes and she fainted.
"Get up." A husky and angry voice said before hoisting Emma up by her forearms.
"Get off!" Emma tried unsuccessfully to get out of the strong grip that now held her nearly a foot above the ground, "Let me go!"
"Look at me!"
Emma opened her eyes and gasped. It was like looking in a mirror, the woman had the same bone structure, eye color, and hair color. Unlike Emma, the woman had muscles like titanium; slender but incredibly capable of whatever task was delegated to them. She had two tarnished silver wings that when folded up could touch the top and bottom of a doorway. She wore the same attire that Zedek did but had green pins on her shoulders. She didn't blink or make even a small twitch in her face that may indicate the presence of emotions.
"You're Dima aren't you?" Emma tried to get her feet back on the ground, "Please, stop."
"You must die." Dima said emotionlessly, "Kill yourself."
"No." Emma kicked at Dima's legs but hurt only herself, "Ow!"
"Resistance is futile." She shook Emma hard to make her stop squirming, "The Assassin is getting too close, you must die so that I can survive."
"Why do you get to live when I don't?" Emma started to panic.
"I matter more to this universe. I am the last of my kind." Dima tilted her head sharply to the side, "Much like your Gallifreyan friend."
"Last of your kind? Aren't you dead?!" Emma screamed.
"My body remains in homeostasis at the core of a large planetoid. I'm merely projection myself into the minds of others to insure that my vulnerable vessel isn't found." Dima strengthened her grip, "Much like your body."
"What will he do if he finds you?" Emma asked.
"Who?"
"The Assassin what will he do if he get to you!?" Tears started to stream down Emma's cheeks because her arms had started to crack and bleed.
"He would torture me then he would kill me in a way of his choosing. Perhaps he would throw me into a sun or abandon me to starve on a deserted planet." Dima continued, "Whichever way he plans to kill me I can guarantee it won't be pleasant."
Emma just whimpered in response.
Dima looked Emma up and down with the same expression as if somebody had just found a particularly odd fungus on a tree, "It was an illogical decision to hide inside humans, I should have chosen something that wasn't so fragile. Daleks would have been a better choice." Dima tossed Emma to the side.
Emma got a look at the world around her. There was nothing but a bright white light that kept them from falling.
"It is your soul. Peculiar place, most of the time there is a slight ringing. When you do something morally wrong to you a black light starts to overtake the white. When you were born the light was green, because you were uncultured. The world hadn't forced you to label yourself and taught you how to declare your actions good or evil." Dima pressed a hand to the ground be her feet. When she pulled her hand up a red spot was left in its place.
"The red spots are infections, they burrows through you and eventually enters your brain and takes control of your actions. Little hyphae that root themselves inside you." Dima took two steps back. Two red dots burrowed down through the white light. They looked like mycelia that had been singed in places and throbbed as it grew. Dima stepped back into place, "They grow faster when I supply them.
"If your still living by the time they root themselves in your brain, I'll take over your brain and kill you myself." Dima tried to smile, but it look like a growl.
"Don't do this please." Emma begged, "I don't want to die."
"It isn't your choice." Dima held her palm out to Emma and shot her back to consciousness.
