"Do not forget, class, that your essays are due tomorrow"

All of us nodded to the teacher as we scrambled to make it out the door. It was a Friday and I was quite eager to start my, much needed, weekend.

When I walked out the front entrance to the school I could already see Edward waiting for me next to his silver Volvo. He met my gaze and gave me his lopsided grin that I love so much.

With my full attention on Edward, I failed to notice the four steps outside the front entrance of the school and the binder lying next to the boy who was trying to tie his shoelace.

I, ever so gracefully, tripped over the binder, and proceeded to tumble down the steps. I looked up in shock to see the high school's quarterback staring at me holding his binder that I had just tripped over. This was not a kid you ever wanted to mess with. He was really huge, a bit smaller than Emmett, actually. I turned bright red and quickly apologized. The boy suddenly surprised my by bursting out laughing,

"No, I am sorry. My binder was just lying there!"

Feeling embarrassed enough for one day; I got back onto my feet and ran to Edward's car.

"Hey, where is everyone else?" I asked as if nothing unusual had just occurred. And in truth, what had happened was not unusual at all.

It was a bit odd though, that Edward was the only one of his family members by his car. Had they gone home early?

Edward gave me a strange look, "Well, Bella. None of them were that comfortable with the idea of being in a car with a bleeding human."

Wait, what? I looked down at myself, and sure enough both of my elbows were scraped-up and bleeding. All I could do was shake my head, I mean, hey what's new?
