If you guys could leave a comment (anything) just to say you're still with me that would be great. I just want to make sure everyone is still here, getting updates with my username change. You can literally just say hi, or type out a comma or something, just so I can see people are still with me. This one's a little short, hopefully I should have another chapter up by Thursday maybe Friday at the latest. Things are finally moving along between the ladies:)

In hindsight, staying in her freezing apartment may have been a better idea.

Myka was furious to find out that while she had all the training of a cop; she was shit at laser tag. She didn't understand it. She hid behind what appeared to be a foam like substance pretending to be a rock while the entire room buzzed and lit up in nauseating proportions.

She had just been about to venture out from her pathetic hiding place when HG slammed down next to her. "There is a vicious little nine year old determined to take us down."

Myka glared at her. "I suck at this, it's childish, I want to go home."

"What? You're having a great time, though your skills wouldn't hurt from a little improvement. Really darling, you are a police officer, we're simply shooting at our opponents, it is not actually a difficult game."

"Why are we doing this?" Myka asked.

"To have fun." HG jumped up and shot a scrawny teenage boy who glared at her as he walked off in defeat. "Also, to warm you up so you don't die of hypothermia in your apartment."

"I was hardly about to die HG." Myka lifted her gun and – finally – successfully shot another teenage boy who had been about to sneak up on HG. "Duck." She ordered right before hitting him. HG looked up and smirked as he stalked off to go find his friend.

"Well done darling, shall we smoke out the nine year old and win this thing?"

Myka couldn't help herself, she grinned and stood up. She refused to be bad at this, especially while HG excelled. "Game on."

They managed to beat the nine year old girl – only just – and Myka felt satisfied enough not to be embarrassed in her laser tag skills. She wasn't a huge fan of admitting that HG was definitely better at this stupid game than she was, but she bit her tongue and let HG have this one.

They bundled back up and walked out to get a cab, it was well after ten by the time they reached Myka's apartment and the lights were on. Myka unlocked her door and saw her landlord fiddling with the heater. He waved and went back to work.

Myka turned to HG as the pair stood in the doorway. "Thanks for this, it...I actually had fun."

"You keep saying that." HG said softly.

"What?"

HG stepped closer to Myka, her back already pressed against the door frame made it impossible to back away. "You keep saying, 'you actually had fun' as if you don't think you will. Or as if you're surprised you could enjoy your time with me."

"No, that's not what I meant..."

HG cut her off. "Myka, I'm aware you've had a rough couple of months, but please stop being surprised that you can enjoy yourself."

"I..." Myka trailed off. She had been about to protest. To insist that she knew how to enjoy herself, that she wasn't talking about HG specifically, but it wasn't worth explaining. Myka could see from the look HG was giving her that she understood. Arguing back would have been part of the problem, so Myka nodded. "Okay." She finally said.

HG rose her eyebrows and suppressed a small smile. "Okay?" She asked.

"Yes okay."

"Well, it feels warmer already." HG said, changing the topic slightly. Myka frowned a little and studied the other woman. Something had been different since she had come over earlier that evening. Myka had seen it then, but had been unable to put her finger on what it was exactly. She had chalked it up to just herself being unused to enjoying time with HG, or enjoying herself in general, but that wasn't it. HG was...fidgety, and nervous since they had left the laser tag game. Myka didn't think she had ever quite seen HG act like this, not since she admitted to digging into her mother's case.

Instantly, Myka was worried.

If HG had gone and done something with her mother's case again, or dug into something she shouldn't have, Myka was well and truly done with her. Forgiving her the first time had been hard enough, Myka wasn't about to do it a second time.

"HG, what..."

Myka was cut off by HG stepping even closer and pressing her lips against hers.

Myka froze.

The kiss was over almost before Myka could register what was happening and HG stepped back, smiled nervously, and tucked a loose curl behind Myka's ear. "I had a lovely evening Myka." She said. "Until tomorrow." She gave Myka a small shrug of her shoulder and before Myka could utter a word, HG was down the hall and gone.

"Heat's working." Her landlord said, shocking her back into movement.

"Um...thanks." Myka stepped aside and let her past her.

"You're girlfriend's pretty." He said.

"Oh...no, she's...I'm not..." Myka just nodded and waved. "Night." She spat out sharply and shut the door on him. "Shit." She whispered to herself. Myka stood leaning against the door for probably a good five minutes before she willed herself to move. HG had just kissed her. She had done it casually and relatively chastely. Myka had seen HG kiss other people without much thought, though it was more often than not on the cheek. Myka didn't know what to make of what had just happened. HG hadn't acted like it was anything...romantic, not really, but it had also been longer than a friendly, quick peck goodnight. Myka couldn't keep thinking about this right now, it was late and she had work in the morning and thinking about it made her head hurt. She went into her bedroom, changed into some pjs, popped a sleeping pill and shut off the light.

Pretending HG hadn't kissed her wasn't working all that well, but Myka was determined to keep doing so anyway. The entire morning as she got ready for work all she could think about were HG's lips on hers, and what that meant, and that she was going to have to face the other woman in a matter of hours.

She had decided to pretend it was nothing at 7:19 while she downed her second cup of coffee.

When she walked into the station at 7:58 on her fourth cup of the morning she knew that wasn't going to work out so well.

She sat down at her desk and Pete immediately walked over to her. "Did you get laid last night?" He asked with a grin.

"No." Myka said harshly. "Jesus Pete, don't be so crude."

"Okay, did you make loooove last night?"

"No!"

Pete frowned and sat down in HG's chair. "You did something, you've got that look."

"I do not have any look!" Myka whispered. She went to take a sip of her coffee only to find it empty.

"You've got a look my friend. Also, your hands are shaking." Pete pointed out.

"I've had a lot of coffee, I didn't get much sleep." Myka insisted.

"Cause of all the sex."

"No! Because I have insomnia. Leave me alone Pete." Myka stood up and headed for the break room to get herself more coffee.

"I think you should switch to some water." Pete took her coffee cup and threw it into the sink. He handed her a glass of water instead and stood waiting with his arms crossed until Myka sighed and drank it all.

"Happy?" She asked once she had finished.

Pete shrugged. "Depends, did your date stay the night and make you breakfast?"

"Pete, I didn't have a date last night."

Pete's eyes widened and he leaned in, "did you sleep with a hooker?" He whispered.

"WHAT? NO!" Myka yelled. "Jesus Pete! I. Did. Not. Have. Sex. How can I get that through your head?"

"Tell me what did happen last night."

"Pete..." Myka pinched the bridge of her nose. She was going to have a wicked headache by lunch.

"Myks it's me, no judgement. I mean I told you about that time I woke up in pink lady underwear after I was with that girl from..."

"Stop talking." Myka said quickly. "I didn't want to hear that story the first time, I don't want to hear it again."

Pete huffed. "Well I do want to hear yours." He said with a slight pout.

Myka sighed. There was no way he would let this go. He would pester her all morning, then he would drag Claudia into it by lunch. The two of them would be relentless and Myka did not have the energy to deal with them today. "HG kissed me last night." Myka practically whispered.

"WHAT!" Pete yelled out happily. "I KNEW IT!" He jumped up and clapped his hands. "I knew it! I knew it! I KNEW IT. Are you guys gonna start making out at work, because yes it would be hot, but also, you're like my sister so it kinda wouldn't be all that hot. Ohhh, Captain is gonna FLIP can I be the one to tell him. Please? Please? Please? Please? Plea.."

Myka covered his mouth with her hand and stomped down on his foot. He yelled out in pain against Myka's palm and she only glared at him in response. "I am going to move my hand and you are going to shut up. Deal?" She asked. Pete nodded and Myka removed her hand.

"Ouch." He mouthed and rubbed his foot indignantly.

"It was just a...it wasn't...she didn't mean anything by it Pete. It was just like a goodnight kiss or something. Like friendly."

"Was there tongue?"

"What no!"

"Was it like a one second kiss? Like a peck on the cheek but on the lips instead?" He asked. Myka shrugged. "Well was it more than five seconds? Cause if it was more than five seconds she wants in your pants. If it was just a quick two second peck than she was just being british or something, but if it was more than that..." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

"It was...I don't..." Myka bit her lip. She didn't know what it was, but it had definitely lasted more than five seconds. Not by much; but she knew now it wasn't nothing. She had been trying to rationalize it as such since she had gone to sleep last night.

"You guys are gonna bang, Claud owes me fifty bucks!" Pete pumped his fists in the air.

"Excuse me?" Myka whipped her head around and glared at him. "You two had a bet on me?"

"Oh yeah." Pete reached for an apple on the tabletop and bit into it hard, getting some juice on Myka's face. She wiped it off exaggeratedly. Pete ignored her. "We made it way back when HG first started here. Kinda revamped it when she came back the second time, I'm totally winning. So, when are you planing on boning her? Cause I could win a hundred instead of fifty if you do it in the next two weeks."

"I am gonna shoot you with this gun." Myka said seriously.

"If you help me win, I'll use some of the money on you." Pete promised. Myka wound up and punched him – hard – in the arm. "OWWW" Pete whined. Myka ignored him and grabbed a fistful of his shirt, slamming him against the wall and causing him to drop his apple onto the floor.

"Lattimer, I will kill you do you understand me?" She asked. Pete nodded. "Shut up, do not mention this to anyone. That includes Claudia. This bet is off nothing is going on between me and HG; and I swear to god I will cut off certain body parts of yours if you act weird."

"Fine." Pete agreed. "But you totally would make an awesome couple and I think you're scared." Myka released him. Pete bent down and picked his apple off the floor, picking a large pice of dust off it he took another large bite. "And you've got nothing to be scared of, she kissed you, which means she likes you back. You haven't really dated anyone since Sam died years ago, you deserve to be happy Myks." Pete bent down and kissed Myka on the cheek, his mouth full of apple, sloppily. "That's a friend kiss. In case you were wondering." He said as he walked off with a smirk.

Myka brushed apple juice off her cheek again. "Shit." She whispered.
