In her moment of complete terror, Miku quickly rolled off the bed and ran out the room. For some reason, she didn't sense the two following her. However, she kept running through the mansion trying to find the exit. She found some stairs and decided to climb them; to where they lead, she didn't know nor she didn't care. The stairs, it turned out, led to an attic-like room. Miku slipped into the closet just in time to not be noticed.

"Are you sure she went up here?" Rin's voice echoed as the footsteps told Miku the children were getting closer.

"If you have doubts check where you're most certain!" Len snapped, his tone filled with obvious annoyance.

"Sorry," Rin whispered sadly. Her sniffle was heard above her and her brother's approaching footsteps.

"Hey, don't cry," Len said, the echoes of footsteps completely gone. "I'm sorry Rin, I shouldn't have snapped at you."

"It's not you," Rin said as tears slid down her checks, "it's just that I don't want to lose her again. Miku-Sama was the only person who ever cared about us, so why did she abandon us? Why is she not happy to see us again?"

"In her defense, I would be scared too if my dolls came back to life," Len said with a hint of a laugh. "Ow!" he exclaimed. "Why did you punch me?"

"Be serious!" Rin roared. "I'm glad we can be humans again and that after everything you and I can finally be together like when we were alive, but it still feels lonely sometimes. I guess I just want to know I'm being cared for by someone."

"At least either way we'll still have each other," Len said.

"But you don't want her to leave either, do you?"

"No," Len shook his head, "I don't."

Miku listened as the two of them left without searching for her. She sat down and thought about everything she heard. These two weren't demons like they appeared to be. They truly were just children. Innocent, lonely children that only longed for her company. They had spent about two hundred years as dolls with no way to communicate with one another, and Miku figured that must have been hard on the both of them. They didn't know love so it was obvious by their actions that they craved it from here, so much that they would kill her for it. Miku shook her head, she was being incredibly selfish. All these children wanted was for her to care for them as she did when she was a child and how did she react? She ran away and obviously hurt their feelings.

Miku stood up and walked down the stairs. She looked through each room, trying to at least find one of the kids. Miku continued to search until she gave up and sat down on the floor tucking her knees to her chest. She sat there for a few minutes before she heard footsteps coming her way.

"Miku-Sama," Rin said. She held the knife in position. "I hope you know what this means."

Miku stood up and said in a shaky voice, "Rin, remember how I used to tell you and Len stories?"

Rin, unsure why Miku was asking such, lowered the knife and answered "Yes. I remember every one Miku-Sama ever told me."

"Would it be okay . . . ," Miku paused. "Would it be okay if I told you one more?"

"I can't deny Miku-Sama such a request," Rin said, though her expression showed that she was unsure.

"Once," Miku began, "there was a girl. She had no friends or playmates. All the kids didn't like her because she had a weird hair color. The girl felt very lonely much too often.

"Then one day the girl saw two dolls on the street. 'Nobody wants you two either, I suppose,' she said. Ignoring her parents, she took the dolls home and washed them up. Because the dolls' normal clothes were ripped, the girl took the time to make some new outfits, repeatedly stabbing her fingers with a needle in the process. She felt herself growing towards the dolls, and they became her friends.

"Despite many people asking why she loved those 'ugly old rag dolls', the girl knew she could never leave her only friends. Then one day," Miku's face grew sad, "she took them to the woods to play like she normally did. She sat them against a tree and told them she would be right back. Turned out she lied to them. She left them behind so she could climb some trees but ended up twisting her ankle on the way down. Her parents found her, but they wouldn't go looking for her best friends. Before she could recover she and her family moved away. She never saw her beloved dolls again." Miku stared into Rin's orange eyes. "That is, until tonight." Miku slowly walked over to Rin. Rin didn't move the whole time as she was digesting everything she just heard.

Miku put both of her arms around Rin's shoulders and began to cry. "I'm sorry I ran from you, but you don't know how scary it all was for me. I never meant to abandon you, I promise! Believe me, don't believe me, I don't care. I just want you to know that I never stopped caring for either you or Len, and that I missed you both more than you can ever imagine!" Miku tucked her head into Rin's shoulder, a hard feat since Miku was a head taller then Rin, but Miku did it anyway. "I'll stay," Miku whispered. "I don't want either to suffer anymore because of me. I'll stay."

Rin dropped the knife and put both of her arms around Miku. Somehow, Rin felt different. She should feel happy that Miku was going to stay, but she didn't. Rin began to feel . . . guilty.

Len walked in on the scene. He had been listening to whole time so he already knew what Miku had decided. Miku, noticing his presence, let go of Rin and went over to hug him too. "I'm sorry," she whispered in his ear.

Miku let go and wiped her eyes. "Don't worry, from now on we'll always be together."

"Miku-Sama," Rin said in a hushed voice, "would you mind giving me a minute to talk to Len?"

"I don't mind," Miku said, surprised at Rin's sudden and unexpected request. "I'll just try to find the kitchen and get something to drink."
