Miku picked up both of the rag dolls and held them close to her chest. "I'm sorry," she said over and over. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Tears streamed down her face and began to cover the ugly rag dolls. "I promise I will never leave you two again," she sobbed. "We will always be together. Together forever."
With the tears failing to cease falling from her eyes, Miku stood up and began to walk. Where to, she didn't know nor she didn't care. She paid no heed to her whereabouts and only continued her stride. Then she began to walk faster and faster until she was running. Miku ran without looking where she was going until she tripped on a root. Both Rin's and Len's doll bodies flew out of her arms and landed in th dirt. Miku sat on her knees, looked at the two, then sobbed in her hands.
"Forgive me!" she wailed. "I just don't know what to do! Because of me you two have suffered so much!"
Suddenly Miku felt a pair of arms wrap around her. "And because of you we have gained so much more."
Miku snapped her head around. Len was sitting crouched next to her, his arms wrapped around her shoulders. Neither was he a doll nor was he dressed the way he had previously been.
"H-how . . . ?" Miku stuttered. Len was supposed to be a doll, so how was he hugging her?
Len stood up and took his place by Rin's side. Both were wearing white robes and, to Miku's surprise, their eyes were no longer pumpkin orange but the same blue they had been before she saw their true forms. Rin and Len were even glowing, shining beautifully like angels.
"You freed us from our curse," Rin said, her voice angelic and more beautiful than it had previously been. "You taught us what love is and how to love. Now we may go to Heaven after all these years."
Miku smiled as tears of genuine happiness slid down her face. Rin and Len were going to be okay. They were going to spend the rest of eternity in Paradise.
"Those," Len pointed to the dolls, "are now no longer us but nothing more than rags. As ugly as we were, Rin and I pleaded to have our souls placed back into them. Our request was denied, but we were at least allowed to say good-bye."
"Why would you want to be dolls again?" Miku asked. "Why would you pass up Heaven in favor of being dolls?"
Rin broke into a sob. "Because we want to stay with Miku-Sama!" she answered as she ran towards Miku and threw herself at the teen, giving Miku a tight hug. "We don't want to be separated from you!" Rin cried. "We want to always be together with you!"
Miku hugged the sobbing girl. "Don't cry, Rin," she said. "We won't be separated forever. One day we'll meet again and then Len, you, and I will be the best of friends."
Rin's face brightened a little. "Really?" she asked with wide eyes.
"Of course!" Miku said cheerfully. "I promise!"
Miku and Rin both stood up and gave each other one last hug. When the two separated Miku walked towards Len. "Don't think I have forgotten about you."
Both Miku and Len held each other in a tight embrace. Len stood on his toes and whispered in Miku's ear. Miku smiled and gave Len a kiss on the cheek.
Both Rin and Len stood next to each other and held hands. "Good-bye, Miku-Sama," they said in unison.
"Good-bye, Rin! Good-bye, Len!" Miku waved.
The whole forest lit up as Rin and Len finally crossed over.
Author's Note: What a beautiful ending. TvT Wait . . . we still have one more chapter! How will this end, I wonder? Wait, why am I wondering? I wrote this!
Cartoon-Slash-fangirl: Well I didn't want to kill Miku-Sama so I went for a happy ending. :) Them killing her just wouldn't make sense when you include the backstory I gave the twins.
Just one more chapter, guys. Just one more chapter.
