Evaluation

"What's this?" Jack said peering at his computer screen at an email that had just dropped into hid inbox

Clarissa looked up from reading the very same email Jack was pondering "End of year evaluation apparently," she said with a frown

"Bureaucratic bullshit apparently," Jack mimicked, early a loaded look from Clarissa

"Knuckle down Jack and get on with it," she said repeating an oft spoken phrase regarding Jack's attitude

He was silent for a moment as he read the finer points of the email "Do you know what this means?" Jack said suddenly with a grin; the kind of grin that Clarissa knew meant Jack was up to something.

"Enlighten me," she said sarcastically

"I get to appraise you" he said wit a smug grin

"My work you mean," she corrected "Who I am and what I do are two separate things. Anyway, this evaluation works both ways. I get to evaluate your work just as much as you get to evaluate mine,"

"Ooh looks there's a nice big box for you to write all about me," Jack said swinging the computer monitor around so Clarissa could see "You can tell our bosses about my dashing good looks, scintillating company and masterful forensic skills,"

"Big words there Jack," she said rolling her eyes "Do you even know what they mean?"

"Of course," he said looking ever so slightly doubtful

"I can think of far shorter words to sum you up. Forget four syllable, I can sum you up in a four letter word,"

Jack frowned for a moment as he tried to work out whether Clarissa was complimenting or insulting him. He had a feeling it was the latter. It was usually the latter.

"Genius?" he asked

"That's six letters," she said shaking her head

"Adept?"

"That's five," she said "I was thinking of one beginning with 'f',"

"Fab," he said "And even one letter left over. That's efficient for you,"

"Fab?" she repeated incredulously "Did you travel back to the 90s on your way to work,"

"Whatever," he said shaking off her comments "Maybe I'll write something similar about you,"

"You wouldn't dare," she said self-assuredly

He pondered this for a moment before agreeing. He was not stupid enough to go up against Clarissa's sharp tongue.

"Hey Clarissa?" he said after a short silence

"What?"

"Are you open to bribes?"

Author's Note: Yay Series 17 is on! Let's hope for more Jack and Clarissa moments. 17x01 provided us with some gems. Let's hope this continues.
