*Sniffle* Hey, guys. This is the *sniffle* last chapter of *sniffle* Taken. I-I promised myself I wouldn't cry because I'm doing an epilogue so it's not even over yet, but I just can't help it, okay? *sobs* I loved writing this so much, and I'll do all the mushy-gushy (hehe, you'll get why I'm telling myself I made a reference later) stuff in the epilogue. I dunno when that'll be up, but it's gonna be up, so look out for it. Um... I dunno what else to say except don't hate me for... a certain thing. And also I know the ending is cheesy and crappy but I suck at endings so deal with it. :) And now... THE FIRST OF THE FINAL TWO DISCLAIMERS OF TAKEN! *SOBS EVEN MORE* This prompt is from amillipede: R5 visits Ross on set, and they find out that Ross and Laura just got together. So they have this little family talk to Ross and tell him how to treat Laura and everything, while Laura just laughs the whole time.

Maddie's Incredible Disclaimers: Part XIV

*R5 goes to visit Ross on set*

Ross: Hey, guys!

Riker: Hey, Ross! Whatcha been up to?

Ross: Oh, ya know, just work.

Rocky: How many times have you kissed Laura in this episode? *Raises eyebrows knowingly*

Ross: Guys, you're actors. You know I don't feel anything.

Ratliff: Quite on the contrary. Granted, most actors don't feel anything when kissing their costar. But you, my friend, are head-over-heels for Laura Marie Marano.

Ross: I wouldn't say-

Rydel: Just admit you like Laura, Ross!

*Laura walks up and intertwines her fingers with Ross's*

Laura: Well, of course he likes me. We're dating, remember?

Ross: *Eyes widen* Laura!

Laura: *Realizes she just told the secret* *Eyes widen*

Riker: *Eyes widen*

Rocky: *Eyes widen*

Rydel: *Eyes widen*

Ratliff: *Eyes widen*

Ryland: *Eyes widen* *Then they un-widen* Eh, I figured something was going on between them. *Goes back to watching a movie with me :)*

Me: *Eyes widen* So did I but I'm freaking out!

Ryland: We should make a plan to totally embarrass Ross in front of her later.

Me: We are so perfect for each other.

*We start planning*

Stormie: *Eyes widen*

Mark: *Eyes widen*

Damian: *Eyes widen* (that'd be really awkward if her dad's name isn't Damian. If it's not, don't tell me cuz then I'll be embarrassed and I'll start crying)

Ellen: *Eyes widen*

Ellen (from the talk show idk how to spell degenasoeijjfhnfjd): *Eyes widen*

Obama: *Eyes widen*

Aliens: *Eyes widen*

That Random Llama That Keeps Appearing In My Disclaimers: *Eyes widen*

R5: WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US YOU STARTED DATING LAURA!?

Ross: CUZ I KNEW THAT'S HOW YOU'D REACT!

Riker: He's got a point... Anyway, sit down.

Ross: *Sits down all confused*

Rocky: Now, Ross. Laura is an amazing, kind, funny, talented, beautiful, fun-

Ross: Also my girlfriend. *Gives Rocky a look*

Ratliff: What Rocky is saying is that Laura is a great girl, and she deserves the best. We believe you can give that to her.

Riker: But we also believe that one wrong move could break her heart.

Rocky: So, you need to promise to treat her well.

Ratliff: Respect her.

Riker: Make her feel special-

Rocky: Like a princess.

*Laura starts cracking up and can't stop laughing at their conversation*

Ratliff: Put her first, and make sure she knows you love her.

Riker: Also-

Ross: *Blushing redder than Santa's suit* I'll do Maddie's disclaimer, no complaints, for a month if you guys stop this conversation.

*They look at each other*

Riker, Rocky, and Ratliff: DEAL!

Rydel: But, remember that she's one of my best friends. If you hurt her, I will not hesitate to kill you.

Ross: *Gulps* Got it.

Rydel: Love you baby bro!

Ross: Maddie doesn't own anything you recognize.

R5 (except Ross): Bye. *Walks away*

*Laura's still laughing*

Ross: You enjoyed that too much.

Laura: Yes, yes I did. *Kisses him*

Ross: I enjoyed that too much.

Laura: *Laughs*

The End

An Unexpected Turn For The Worst

(Ally's P.O.V.)

Chunks of the concrete wall fly everywhere. One large piece of the wall lands on top of Sarah, pinning her to the ground. She loses consciousness.

"What the-?!" Austin exclaims. I peek out from behind him and see a blonde girl run through the hole in the wall.

"That was awesome! Please tell me you guys saw that!" she exclaims.

"Piper?!" I say in disbelief, walking over to her.

"Ally!" she squeals, crushing me in a hug. "You're alive!"

"Yeah," I say, still in shock. "Thank you." She grins.

"I couldn't let my first friend ever die on me, now could I?" she replies with a playful wink.

"What about your favorite pop star?" Austin says, mocking hurt. Piper laughs and hugs him.

"You know I could never forget you, Austin," she says. "I mean, you're on the cover of, like, every magazine I own." We all laugh.

"ALLY!" we hear. Just then, Trish comes running in and she tackles me in a hug.

"Trish," I say, "I love you and I'm super happy to see you, but I'm having trouble breathing." She apologizes and loosens her grip, and then I return her hug.

"Austin! I'm so glad my only client's not dead!" she says when we pull apart. She and Austin hug, too.

"I'm glad I'm not dead, either," he says. "Where's-"

"AUSTIN!" Dez shouts, running in. He and Austin hug and then do their signature handshake. Then, Dez comes and hugs me.

"Aw, this is such a great reunion! We should take a picture!" Piper exclaims. She snaps her fingers and a camera appears in her hand. "My phone sucks at taking pictures," she explains. The rest of us shrug and lean in as Piper turns the camera around and takes a picture of all of us. Then, she turns it back around and looks at the picture.

"We are adorable," Dez says.

"Agreed. Silly picture time!" Piper exclaims. She turns the camera back around and we all pose. I kiss Austin's cheek with my cheeks blown up, while Austin shuts one eye and bites his lip. (1) Dez goes cross-eyed while Trish pretends to punch him. Piper raises one eyebrow dramatically, tilts her head, and makes her lips form an 'o.' She takes the picture and we look at it again.

"Okay, reunion is over. Let's go home," Trish says. We all nod. Just as we're about to leave, I'm blinded by a green light. I look over and see Sarah shoot out another green light at Austin. A red light hits her and she goes still.

"I thought she was already dead!" Piper exclaims.

"Did you just kill her?" Trish shouts. Piper nods.

"She just-" Piper starts. She's cut off by me screaming in pain and collapsing on the floor, closely followed by Austin. "-cast the pain spell!" Piper finishes in a panic. Trish, Dez and Piper kneel next to Austin and I. We're still screaming. "If the pain spell isn't stopped, they'll die because the pain will be too much to bear," she continues fearfully.

"Well, make it stop!" Trish screams.

"Only the caster of the pain spell can make it stop! There's nothing I can do!" Piper yells, tears rolling down her face as she watches Austin and me.

"So they're just gonna die?!" Dez exclaims.

"We… Can't… Die!" Austin manages through clenched teeth.

"There's-There's no way to stop it," Piper says in a smaller voice, still crying.

"There has to be a way!" Trish exclaims.

"I thought you were a Shadow with… Powers and stuff!" Dez exclaims.

"I am! But powers have rules. And spells are spells. This one can't be revoked by anyone except the caster, and Sarah's dead!" Piper says.

"Make it… Go away!" I exclaim, the pain becoming too much to bear.

"It'll go away soon, Als. I promise," Piper says, trying to calm me down.

"Not… Soon… Enough!" I shout.

"Don't… Call her… Als!" Austin exclaims.

"Seriously, Austin? You're worried about the nickname at a time like this?!" Piper exclaims at the blonde.

"AHHHHH!" Austin yells as he starts feeling even more pain. I feel it, too, but I don't have enough energy to yell.

"It's almost over," Piper tells us. "Then it'll go away. Just hang on for a little longer."

"Then they'll be dead!" Trish exclaims. "Ally, you're my best friend. You can't just-just die!" She starts crying with Piper. I can tell Austin and I don't have much longer.

Austin presses his lips to mine in one last kiss. It's barely even a kiss, as we're both in too much pain to kiss properly and we're both curled up on the floor. I hear Piper, Trish, and even Dez start crying even more. They probably feel so helpless, with no way to save us.

"I…love…you," Austin manages, just above a whisper. I nod, my eyes shut tight, because it's all I can muster. I'm not making any noise; the pain is too much for even that. I can't even begin to describe it-just imagine the most painful thing you've gone through, and that literally doesn't even exist compared to the pain I'm feeling right now.

Then, just like that, it's gone. And so is everything else.

After a while of darkness and eerie silence, I open my eyes in a white room. But, it's not the usual white room. This room is more comfortable. It has white furniture and windows, looking out on an entire white neighborhood. Before I'm able to look, I'm tackled to the ground.

"Whoa!" Austin exclaims as he falls on top of me. "Sorry, Als. I just randomly opened my eyes to falling on you." He stands up and reaches out a hand to help me up.

"Where are we?" I ask.

"I think we're dead," he says in seriousness. "I mean, Piper was saying how that spell was gonna kill us and how we didn't have much time. And all the white makes sense. I mean, we're even wearing white." It's true. Austin's wearing an open white button-up over a white t-shirt with white jeans, white high-tops, a white tie, and a silver chain clipped to his belt. I'm wearing a white sleeveless dress that flows to my knees, white wedges, white bangles, a pearl necklace and earrings to match, a white right, and a white rose pinned in my hair.

"Wait, so…" I trail off.

"Sarah finally got her wish," Austin finishes. "After a whole year, she finally killed us. Painfully. Maybe evil can win after all."

"But, this can't just be it," I say.

"But I think it is," Austin replies. "C'mon, it's not so bad. Unless you don't like the fact that you're stuck with me for eternity."

"I've known I was stuck with you for eternity since we met," I tell him. "You're like one of those super loyal puppies who would find their owner's grave and sleep by it."

"You're my girlfriend, not my owner," he says, raising an eyebrow. "And I'm not a puppy."

"Whatever," I say. "So, we're really dead?" I say.

"I'm, like, seventy-two percent sure," he replies.

"What about the other twenty-eight?"

"That's my illogical side that's saying we've been transported to the future where everything is white." (2)

"Oh. So, now what?" Austin shrugs.

"I dunno. We could-" Before he can finish his sentence, I black out again.

I'm honestly not sure how long I stay unconscious, but when I open my eyes, I see that Austin's lying next to me. His eyes are fluttering open as well.

"Now where-" I start. I stop talking when I look around the room and see concrete walls, a concrete floor, and a gigantic hole leading to the outside. "We're back? I thought we were dead!" I say. Two people help me up from the floor and hug me.

"You were!" Trish exclaims. "But then-"

"Ally, I'm so glad you're okay!" Dez says. "Now we better help Austin." Trish and Dez help Austin up and hug him, too. I think the both of us are still in shock, because we don't really react to much.

"You guys were dead, and-and-and-"

"And then Piper saved you," Dez finishes for Trish. He points behind us and we see Piper lying on the floor.

"Piper!" Austin exclaims, running to our blonde friend. Trish, Dez, and I follow and the four of us kneel next to her.

"What happened?" I ask. Piper looks up at us with her big blue eyes.

"You guys broke your promise and died," she replies. "So I brought you back."

"How?" Austin asks her.

"I have powers, stupid," she says. "See, Shadows can bring someone back to life, but they have to give that person their life force. I wasn't sure if it would work on both of you, but your life forces are so tightly knit, that it did work, thank goodness."

"Wait… Give your life force? Doesn't that mean-" I start, putting the pieces together.

"Hey, you wouldn't even be in this mess if it wasn't for me. I deserve to die to get you out of it," Piper says. Tears start rolling down my face.

"Piper, you didn't have to give up your life to help us!" I tell her, hugging her.

"Yeah, I did," she says. "Trust me, you guys aren't supposed to die yet. Me, well, I didn't really have much anyway."

"You have us," Austin says. "You shouldn't have done that, Piper! You had so much!"

"Not really," she says. "I'm a Shadow. Nothing good ever comes to us. This is a peaceful death in my world. I'm okay, guys, really."

"Well, thank you, Pipes. I have no idea how we'll ever repay you, especially since…" Austin trails off.

"Piper, really, thank you. When we met, I never would've imagined you'd do this for us. So thanks, so, so much, but why'd you do it?" I ask. Piper shrugs weakly.

"I dunno. You two are the closest-the first-the only friends I've ever had, aside from Trish and Dez, and I figured a friend would do that for a friend, yeah?" she says.

"Not most of the time!" I say.

"And you guys deserve a long, happy life together. And I still love Austin, even though I'd never, like, make a move or whatever."

"You told me that," I remind her.

"Well, I'm telling you again," she replies. "Now will you all just give me a hug before I, you know, die?" Trish, Dez, Austin, and I all laugh through our tears and hug Piper until she goes still. Then, we pull away slowly, and Austin-who had previously had her head in his lap-gently sets her back down.

"She was too young," Dez says quietly. We all nod and Trish and I cry even harder. I know the boys are trying to be strong for us, but they're crying pretty hard, too. Trish and I hug Dez and Austin and we all hold each other and cry for who knows how long.

After we've calmed down enough to somewhat function, we decide we should leave. I pick up the camera Piper must've dropped when she saved Austin and me and hug it to my chest. We all say one last goodbye to Piper.

Just as we're about to leave, Sarah and Piper's bodies disappear in a flash of white light.

"Where did they go?" Dez asks, sniffling. We all shrug, silently deciding that it must be a Shadow thing. The four of us slowly walk outside.

"This-this should take us back to Sonic Boom," Trish says through her tears, motioning to a cloud like the one that took Austin, Trish, and Dez here in the first place. Austin and I nod and the four of us jump into the cloud.

The long ride home is a silent one, other than the sounds of our crying. The four of us have our arms around each other, and we're all letting the tears flow freely. Austin's arm is tight around me.

"She-she wouldn't want us to be like this," Austin finally says when we get back to Sonic Boom. "She's probably saying, like, 'Okay, you've cried, now get on with your life.' She wouldn't want us to be so upset about her saving us." Trish, Dez, and I agree. We hastily wipe our tears from our faces and try to blink back the new ones.

"I just-it isn't fair," I say. I lean into Austin and start crying again. Austin hugs me tightly, rubbing circles on my back.

"I'm gonna go home," Trish says. "All I wanna do is sleep and pretend this was all a crazy nightmare." She leaves the store, and Dez leaves as well with about the same reason. So, it's just Austin and me left.

"She-she gave her life to bring ours back, Austin," I say, having trouble actually believing it. Austin nods.

"She was such a good person-she doesn't deserve the fate all the evil Shadows get," he adds.

"We need to have some sort of service," I decide. "A small funeral, just for the four of us." Austin nods.

"Let's do it tomorrow. But we have to promise that once the funeral is over, we'll try to be happy again. Piper didn't give her life so we could live being sad and depressed. She said herself that we deserve a happy life together, and the least we can do is try to live up to that," Austin says. I nod.

"I'll go buy the flowers for her." Austin nods and says he wants to go home and get some sleep, too. He kisses me goodbye and leaves the store. I sigh and head to the flower store.

I shop in the store for hours, having trouble deciding which flowers Piper would like best. Then, I see them. There is a bouquet of white and light pink flowers. Some of the flowers are small and delicate, but others are a big bigger and bolder. I buy the bouquet and go straight home.

That night, I have trouble falling asleep. When I finally do, I'm surprised to wake up in the white room.

"Ally?" Austin says, walking over to me. "What's going on?"

"The communication still works," I say. "No one got rid of it, and it was already there before Piper…" I don't finish my sentence. Austin nods in understanding. Then, he sighs.

"I just… Can't believe that she's gone, and that everything's over," he says, sitting down on the floor. I sit next to him. "Like, I keep expecting her to appear in here any second and start arguing with me over something stupid." I smile a bit.

"You guys did that a lot," I remember. He chuckles and nods.

"I keep thinking she'll randomly appear and announce that it was all a prank and Shadows can just bring people back from the dead anytime, you know?" Austin continues. I nod.

"Yeah. And then after we got over her shock, she'd tell us to kiss in celebration while she fangirled." Austin smiles and nods.

"And you guys would start comparing me to Ross Lynch, and she'd say Ross is better, while you'd say we're the same, and I'd be saying I'm better," he adds. "And then she'd eventually just give up and start talking about Sarah's latest plans."

"But then she'd get bored and start talking about us again," I say. Austin sighs.

"But…that won't happen. She's actually gone." I nod and lean my head on his shoulder. He leans his head on top of mine.

"I wish it wasn't this hard," I say. "I wish she was a terrible person and I hated her so it wouldn't be so bad that she died. I wish she was actually on Sarah's side and we managed to escape on our own."

"I don't. Everything happens for a reason, and so I guess that was her time to go. I mean, think about it. If she really was on Sarah's side, would we even be together? She's the one who tricked you into saying you still liked me, which made us get back together. I'm happy things turned out the way they did, I just wish Piper didn't die at the end." Whoa. Since when did Austin get so…intelligent? I have no idea what happened, but intelligent is a good look for him.

"Yeah, you're right," I agree. "And we still have each other, right? We may both be scarred and broken beyond repair, but we're still together, and we got through it. Just like we said we would." Austin nods.

"I love you, Als. So, so much."

"I love you, too," I say without hesitation. He leans in and kisses me softly and gently. It's exhausted, as we've both had a long day, but it expresses more love than any other kisses we've had. When we pull away, Austin claps his hands.

"Alright, enough with the mushy-gushy stuff. Piper would not want us sitting around and talking about our feelings unless we were broken up and getting back together. And since that's not the case, we need to do something fun."

"I have an idea," I tell him. "We should have a pancake making contest." His eyes light up and he picks me up and spins me around.

"Ally Dawson, that is the best idea you've ever had and this is why I love you!" he says excitedly. We both imagine up our kitchen stations and a timer. We give ourselves a half hour to make the best pancakes we can muster.

"Ready, GO!" I exclaim, hitting the timer button. We both start rapidly making our pancakes. I carefully measure out all the ingredients, and then add blueberries. I make them into shapes of guitars, microphones, and drum sets. When they're on the plates, I let them cool while I make colored whipped cream.

I add different colors of food coloring to different cans of whipped cream and shake them to mix in the color. Surprisingly, it works, and I decorate the pancakes with the remainder of my time. I think they turned out pretty well.

The buzzer on the timer goes off and Austin and I imagine up a table to bring the pancakes to.

"I present to you, Austin Moon's famous Only-Eat-If-You-Wanna-Stay-Home-From-School-With-A-Stomach-Ache Pancake Sundae!" Austin exclaims dramatically, making me laugh. He pulls the cover off his plate of pancakes and I see…something.

I think the pancakes are chocolate-chip, but only because that's Austin's favorite kind. The huge stack of pancakes is so covered with whipped cream, maple syrup, and different chocolate candies, that I can't even see the actual pancakes.

"Wow. That's…" I trail off.

"Amazing? I know," Austin says. I laugh and roll my eyes.

"And now I present to you, Ally the A-Dawg Dawson's famous Instrument Pancakes!" I exclaim, unable to think of a better name. Austin starts laughing.

"Never say A-Dawg again, Als," he says, in between laughs. "I, King of Pancakes and Prince of Moon's Mattress Kingdom, hereby declare this pancake-making war a draw!" he exclaims. I start laughing.

"What shall we do now, King and Prince?" I ask in a terrible British accent.

"Oh, Ally, don't you know you call people by their highest title?" he replies in a British accent as well.

"My apologies. Allow me to rephrase. What shall we do now, King?" I say.

"Why, the answer is simple, my dear queen. We must eat the beautiful pancakes which we have created this very night! And thus forth and forever, this competition shall be known as the Hungry Games, and shall commence every Saturday at the Moon household at one o'clock p.m. sharp!" Austin says.

"As you wish, my king," I say, doing a curtsey. Austin and I sit at the table and start eating the pancakes we made.

"I'm so glad I got you to like pancakes," Austin says.

"Now, now, kings don't eat with their mouths full," I tell my boyfriend.

"Sorry," he says, swallowing his bite. We both finish eating quickly.

"We should probably wake up now," I say. "Then we can wake up Trish and Dez and have the funeral." Austin nods and gives me a hug.

"See you later, Allygator," he says.

"See you soon, Mr. Moon," I reply.

"Ooh," he says, "rhymey."

"You're so weird," I tell him. He laughs, waves goodbye, and disappears. I wake up as well.

The morning was uneventful, and now the four of us are at the funeral. We've set up a memorial, using a cutout from one of the pictures we took as the centerpiece. The flowers are laid in front of it, and there are a bunch of little gifts for our lost friend scattered around on the table.

"Piper," I say, starting my speech, "was an interesting girl. She could be sassy, unpredictable, and very talkative. She was just like any blonde you'd find on a TV show, except she was a lot smarter than that. After all, she did manage to save us from Sarah.

"Piper was a beautiful girl who didn't deserve the fate she got. She was born as an evil creature, yet she was good and actually helped us. She was so innocent, fangirling over singers, actors, and Disney movies. She did nothing wrong, yet she's still not standing here with us today.

"I hope she has a good place wherever Shadows go after they die. She gave her life to protect Austin and me, and that's a debt we'll never be able to repay. I was so excited to grow up with her as another friend, but her life was cut short before I even finished high school.

"Although her passing is devastating and unfair, I believe that the four of us can learn from this. Ever since everything with Sarah started, we've been closer. We've agreed to never fight, no matter how angry we are. We've learned never to wish anything bad on anyone, and we've learned how to work together. Also, Austin and I are together, and while it's hard to admit it, it probably wouldn't have happened without Sarah and Piper, so we have to thank them. Especially Piper, who helped us get back together after our breakup.

"So, I guess what I'm trying to say here is that Piper's death is sad and terrible. But we can't spend the rest of our lives crying over it. We can be sad-we should be sad. But, we need to be able to pick ourselves back up and walk away from this experience. We need to show that not even the most terrible deed of all-the death of our friend-is enough to break us completely." I nod in conclusion and step off the stand. Everyone else makes speeches, we say goodbyes to Piper at the memorial, and then we all go out for ice cream, knowing that it always makes us feel better.

It's when we're sitting there, enjoying our ice cream, when I realize that Austin and I are more special than any of the couples people have seen in books or on TV. Sure, they have trials, but they get happy endings. Our ending isn't necessarily happy. Our friend gave her life to save ours, and that is a tragedy just as bad as Romeo and Juliet's. But not having a completely happy ending is what makes us real.

We're not some made-up couple for the entertainment of others. We're not some cheesy, sappy couple who spends all their time making out and complimenting each other. We're not some best-friend-turned-boyfriend/girlfriend-but-it-doesn't-work couple. No, we're much more than that.

We have endured more pain in about a week than most people will endure in a lifetime, and yet we promised each other we'd make it through. We stayed strong not for ourselves, but for each other. We've broken up, made up, and died together. We were music partners, then best friends, then boyfriend/girlfriend. But now, we're so much more than that. Our bond, our connection to each other is so great, we practically share the same life force. We literally can't live without each other. Some evil Shadow can't simply break us apart and expect us not to find each other. We are inseparable. Our love is real, and nobody can take it.

*Sigh* Well, that was so cheesy I think I might kill my whole story because of the bad ending. Just kidding. I love it too much. It's like my baby, except the baby is really ugly, but I love it anyway. So, again, I'll do all the fun end-of-story stuff in the epilogue. Right now, I'll do the numbers. Fun.

(1) Guys, he would look so freaking adorable in this pose like I had to stop typing for a second when I wrote that to regain my sanity after I imagined it.

(2) Heh heh, Future Sounds & Festival Songs. I just went there.

Me: Hey!

Ross: Hey, me? Hey, you! I know you guys got the guy to put me and Laura on the Kiss Cam!

Ryland: We wanted to embarrass you.

Ross: Well, it worked!

Me: We also wanted you and Laura to realize your feelings for each other and start dating.

Ross: *blushes* That worked too...

Me: So, I believe the word you're looking for is 'thank you.'

Ross: Maddie, that's two words.

Me: Whatever.

Ryland: Where is Laura, anyway?

Ross: I took her home.

Me: Oh. Well, I have to go. Bye guys! *waves goodbye*

Ross: I'm still mad.

Me: No you're not.

*Ross sighs but knows I'm right so he waves goodbye with Ryland*

The End
