Okay, I know I haven't made a new chapter in a while, but I think it's time to come back. So here you go.
*1/2 moon later*
*Rainpaw's P.O.V.*
Foxleap assigned me, Lilypelt, Leopardpelt, and Pinepaw on the sunhigh patrol. We're patrolling the Windclan border.
Leopardpelt, who is leading this patrol, lead us over to the border. She sniffed around and stiffened. "Windclan scent and it's fresh."
As if on cue Crowfeather, Emberfoot, and Heathertail walked over a hill towards where we are standing. Leopardpelt bared her fangs in a snarl.
"Don't step any closer, unless you want shredded pelts!" She snarled.
Heathertail and Emberfoot stepped forward, claws unsheathed. Crowfeather however stood back, a calm look in his ice-blue eyes. "Heathertail, Emberfoot, stand your guard."
"What do you want Crowfeather?" Lilypelt asked angrily.
It was Heathertail who answered. "We're just on a patrol, to make sure flea-pelts like you stay off of our territory."
That remark caught my attention. Instinctively, I unsheathed my claws and stepped forward threateningly. I felt a tail on my shoulder and turned around to see Lilypelt shaking her head. "They aren't worth it." She whispered to me.
Lilypelt seemed calm enough, but Leopardpelt wasn't. She was shaking in fury, which caused me to wonder if there was a history between her and these cats.
Crowfeather padded forward and left his scent on the borders. He nodded his head to Heathertail and Emberfoot and then they stalked off.
During the entire ordeal, Pinepaw hadn't said a thing. He just stood there, calm and collected. At the moment, he seemed to be much more mature than his mentor. This caused me to wonder when his warrior ceremony would take place; he had already completed his 6 moons of training.
Lilypelt padded over to Leopardpelt and whispered a few things to her. That seemed to calm her down a bit. So we all left our scents on the border and padded back to camp.
When we got back, Leopardpelt went directly to Bramblestar's den. Pinepaw padded over toward his sister Puddlepaw, who had been talking to my brother Hawkpaw.
I walked over to the fresh-kill pile and picked out a plump vole. I wondered if I should bring it to the elders den, but when I looked over there, Brackenfur nodded to me. I took this as a signal that they had already eaten and padded over to the apprentice den to eat.
After a few minutes, I noticed Wolfpaw pad out of the tunnel with his mentor, Seedclaw. Both of them had prey in their jaws.
Then I noticed Leopardpelt walk out of Bramblestar's den, a proud look on her face. Not a moment later, Bramblestar followed her.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highledge for a clan meeting!" He yowled.
After we all gathered, he continued. "As Leopardpelt has kindly informed me, it is high time for two of our apprentices to become warriors. Pinepaw and Puddlepaw, please step forward." He told them.
The two of them exchanged excited looks and stepped forward so that they were in front of the crowd.
Bramblestar continued. "I, Bramblestar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these two apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code and I commend them as warriors in their turn." He paused.
"Pinepaw, Puddlepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this clan, even at the cost of your lives?" He asked.
Pinepaw and Puddlepaw looked him straight into his eyes and together they said, "I do."
"Then by the powers of Starclan I give you your warrior names. Pinepaw, from this moment forward, you will be known as Pinefrost. Starclan honors your bravery and your sense of calm even at the threat of battle, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan." Bramblestar jumped down and rested his head on Pinefrost's head, in turn Pinefrost licked his shoulder respectively.
Pinefrost stepped back as Bramblestar continued. "Puddlepaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Puddlestep. Starclan honors your wits and your courage in battle, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan." And then Bramblestar repeated the process he did with Pinefrost.
"Pinefrost! Puddlestep! Pinefrost! Puddlestep!" The clan shouted.
*Later*
The clan celebrated until midnight. Of course, the kits and elders went to sleep long before the celebration ended. I could tell Pinefrost and Puddlestep were enjoying the attention and Hawkpaw was soaking it in as well. I swear Hawkpaw is not the brother I used to have. At least Wolfpaw is still normal.
*1 week later*
Icecloud gave birth to Mousewhisker's kits a few days ago. She had two she-kits and a tom. The tom has grey fur, amber eyes, and his paws are as white as Icecloud's fur. They named him Blizzardkit.
One she-kit has silver fur and blue eyes, her name is Silverkit. The other she-kit has icy blue fur and green eyes, her name is Frostkit.
But there is other news, some of the clan has reported saying they've scented some strange cats in our territory. I remember Graystripe and Sandstorm telling me the story of the battle with the Dark Forest, they also told me how they scented strange cats in the territory then to.
What this means for the clan remains to be seen. But I hope the Great Battle doesn't repeat itself, the clans will never be prepared enough for it.
Alright guys, I hope this signals to you that I am indeed back. I hope you enjoyed this long awaited chapter and I know there was almost no action, but that should be different later in the story.
