Emily may never forgive Tyra for talking her into flirting with Dr. Putnam. She hasn't been able to fully shake him since. Yes, she doesn't see him often, but on days and cases when their paths cross, he is in full pursuit. The more she protests, the worse he seems to want her.

One day after shift, Micah finally notices both the predatory actions of Putnam and the confused fluster of Emily as she barely manages to extricate herself from the conversation. As she hurries over to meet him, Emily is flushed and clearly agitated, but he can't help teasing her.

"Is there something I should know about you and Dr. Putnam?", he asks with twinkling eyes as he gently puts a hand to the small of her back and guides her out the door and towards his car.

"I was so stupid to listen to Tyra!" begins Emily, and out pours the whole story. She tells him all about how she had still been trying to win Will's heart, how she had allowed her friend to convince her no harm would come of flirting with Putnam, and how now, no matter what she does, the man can't seem to take no for an answer.

Micah finds himself equally amused at Emily's inexplicable ability to innocently get into such situations, and irritated at Dr. Putnam for not respecting his girlfriend's wishes to be left alone. He doesn't let the irritation show though, instead giving her hand a comforting squeeze. "Well, hopefully you won't run into him again for a while," he says and steers the conversation on to other topics.

Unfortunately for Emily, Dr. Putnam manages to corner her alone in the locker room only three days later. Within moments, she is out of exit strategies and floundering for excuses to avoid joining him for a drink. "How can anyone consistently be this disarmingly persuasive?" she thinks. Just as she's beginning to wonder what will happen to her career if she uses her pepper spray, the door opens. It's Micah.

"There you are, Emily!" He says conversationally as he confidently strides over to her, brushing past Putnam and pulling her into his arms. "I've been looking all over for you." The kiss that follows is passionate and, if Emily's being honest, a little possessive. It leaves her breathless and weak in the knees, clinging to Micah in order to remain standing. "Are you ready for our date?" he asks, finally pulling away. Still unable to speak, she smiles starry eyed at him and nods.

Only after he has picked up her bag and placed his arm around Emily's shoulders does Micah seem to notice they are not alone. "Putnam!" he exclaims with surprise. "I didn't see you there! You on your way to the bar?"

Emily doesn't miss the amused and admiring look in Dr. Putnam's eye, nor the silent momentary exchange that passes between the two men. "Hadn't decided yet. You kids have fun tonight, though." says Dr. Putnam with an obvious wink.

Emily feels herself blush, but Micah grins, nodding his head once in acknowledgement and leading her out the door. As it closes behind them, Emily looks at Micah with raised eyebrows. "I don't think he'll bother you again." He responds. They both begin to laugh.
