Emily is pretty sure there is nothing more adorable than a yawning newborn. Something about seeing such an ancient expression of exhaustion in such a young face always makes her heart contract. This is why she is currently sitting alone in a hospital bed gently stroking the cheek of her newborn daughter in order to elicit just such a display of cuteness. After a few patient moments, the baby delivers a massive yawn, causing Emily to giggle and coo delightedly at the daughter in her arms. She is contemplating seeing if she can get the baby to yawn again when Micah enters.

"I brought you food!" he says happily, setting his jacket and bag on the chair before placing a take-out bag on the table next to her and settling on the edge of the bed. He's been working on and off at the hospital in and around visits with Emily and their new baby, but she can tell he's relieved to finally have his work duties complete so he can fully concentrate on family.

"You've been trying to get her to yawn again haven't you?" he asks suspiciously when he notices her finger resting on their daughter's cheek.

"I can't help it!" exclaims Emily, embarrassed. "She's just so perfect, and it's so cute!"

Micah just shakes his head at her before holding out his arms. "Quit treating our daughter like a toy and give her here!" he demands lightly.

"Of course she's perfect" coos Micah once the baby is safely nestled in his arms. "She looks just like her Mommy."

"She does not!" responds Emily as she reaches for the bag of food. "I'm pretty sure that's your nose, Daddy."

"Uh uh" disagrees Micah. "She's your spitting image. We're going to have a mini-Emily on our hands."

Emily's retort is cut short by Micah's sister Liz at the door.

"I brought cupcakes!" she says as a tiny figure rushes past her and climbs onto the bed and into Emily's arms. "…And the proud big brother" finishes Liz humorously as she watches Emily cuddle her son and ask him about his day.

"Thanks for being willing to babysit" says Micah from the bed, still cradling his sleeping daughter. "I have no idea what we would do without you. Did he behave himself?"

"Oh yeah" says Liz moving towards the bed to get a look at the baby. "He's a good kid. I hope you two spoil sports will remember to let him have some fun once in a while. Wow. She looks exactly like Emily."

Emily turns from her son for a minute and makes a face as Micah laughs. "That is exactly what I keep telling her" he says happily before looking back at the baby. Liz can tell he's completely smitten. "Does Auntie Liz want to hold her beautiful new niece?"

Liz takes a quick step back. "Thanks, but I think I'll pass for now. Don't get me wrong, I love your kids, but I'm on my way to a date, and I really don't want to smell like baby."

"Suit yourself" says Micah with a shrug, turning instead towards his son. "And what about you, Buddy? Do you want to come meet your new baby sister?"

Emily keeps one hand on their son as he uses his wobbly little toddler legs to stand on the bed and lean across Micah's shoulder from behind. He peers at the tiny bundle before him curiously for a moment before lifting one hand and waving at the baby. "Hi!" he says happily.

Emily and Micah turn back to Liz when they hear her snort. Her face is incredulous. "Seriously? Sometimes you guys are so perfect you make me sick." She says before moving to the door. "Alright, I'm out. Love you guys! Enjoy the cupcakes and I'll see you tomorrow." She finishes, exiting the room.

Micah turns back to Emily and shakes his head in exasperation as their son plops back down on the bed and nestles into Emily's side, thumb creeping into his mouth.

"Even underneath all that new found maturity, she's still the same old Liz!" says Micah in amusement before turning his attention back to the baby.

Emily smiles at him, sharing the joke, but Liz's words are still ringing in her mind. She looks from the happy little boy snuggled against her to her handsome surgeon husband lovingly cooing at their healthy brand new daughter. Liz is right. Her life at the moment IS pretty perfect. Well….almost perfect. She just needs one more thing.

Emily reaches for the cupcakes.
