And here's the next chapter! I honestly was hoping for at least 2 reviews but one is review is better then none! Anyway this chapter will be a slightly short dialogue chapter. Please readers please just review.
Assassin master ezio 91: Glad that you loved it! Well you'll just have to wait until the sequel!
Diao Chan sat in silence, she didn't want to do this but she knew she had to. A banquet was in place to celebrate their 'victory' over the forces of Yuan Shao and Cao Cao. 'As if' Thought the dancer to herself as she put her hand on forehead.
A soldier walked out but before he could get any words out Diao Chan had already asked him a question. "Is it time for me to entertain yet?" The soldier who was flabbergasted by her beauty only nodded. 'Basically every man is a pig. Beauty is only skin deep and I'm not beautiful inside.'
She found the idea stupid to have a banquet to celebrate a loss. There was no victory, the only thing they achieved was losing the smartest member of this army and the only person who would be celebrating that would be Li Ru.
Entering the room everyone's eyes immediately found their way to her, some of these gazes were lustful, others sympathetic and some were gazes of jealousy an pure hatred, courtesy of Li Ru. "Everyone Diao Chan will perform a dance in honour of our victory." informed Dong Zhuo as he had a disgustingly lustful look on his face.
Diao Chan started slow as did the musicians, eventually she'd do some trick like falling into the splits and incorporating some gymnastic skills but she closed her eyes during the dance as she made sure to keep the dance relatively slow.
There was a lot on her mind and she could barely focus on dancing in front of people, for the first time in her life dancing did not provide the comfort she needed. As soon as she opened her eyes she knew that what she was seeing wasn't real and it was her mind playing tricks on her.
But she still believed in what she was seeing anyway. Everyone was laughing at her, mocking her and booing her. Her eyes had a battle with her tears but the tears won as they began to escape. Thud! Even before it happened Diao Chan knew she stuffed up.
The room went silent as she slipped and landed on her face. Hard. The shame was to much for her to bear as she broke into sobs, shaking as she slowly stood up and looked around the room. Everyone, bar Li Ru, had concern, worry and sympathy written on their faces as Li Ru was chuckling but was soon silenced by an elbow being slammed into his ribs.
Knowing she would only cry and embarrass herself even more she stood up and begin to ran out of the room. "Master Dong Zhuo I beg for forgiveness, please accept my apology!" She shouted out as she hid her face behind her hands.
Lu Bu was going to go out and comfort her as Wang Yun witnessed but he knew that he couldn't afford to have that happen, Diao Chan as his daughter and he'd be the one to do it. The other reason was that Dong Zhuo would get suspicious and their plan would be ruined.
"I'll handle this Lord Lu Bu, she is my daughter and I feel obligated. You go and enjoy the banquet." Wang Yun said as he didn't wait for an answer. His poor daughter, he felt awful for putting her up to this mission and Wang Yun was going to make sure they had a nice talk like they did before.
The room decorated in gold was silent, Zhen Ji appreciated this. Her mind was overflowing with concerns, questions and things she should and shouldn't be doing. But deep down she knew this was right for her. Ji felt obliged to stay with her former father in-law and help him with his conquests but she was not going to be married to either Shang or Tan. The beauty knew Yuan Shao well enough to know he would do that.
After all her bored wife of a Yuan days were over. "I suppose it is sad that I won't be able to take Diao Chan's head in this battle but my future is more important that slut's skull." She said to herself, her haughty tone still present.
Wind blowed into the room from the windows and she loved the cool breeze it was giving but the sound it was making reminded her of the quiet whispers of the jealous court ladies and her mother in-law. If there was one person she wouldn't miss it was her.
Zhen Ji could only wonder when death would claim the old hag and finally take that bitch to hell. Packing the rest of her stuff her thoughts trailed off to her future husband, Cao Pi. "Is he going to treat me right? Or will I just be a trophy?" Voicing her concerns out loud didn't provide the comfort she wanted.
"Regardless I am Zhen Ji and there is nothing that I can't surpass. I hope your ready for me, Cao Pi." The woman stated inspirationally as she did catwalk out of the room. "Yuan Shao this is goodbye, I'm sorry for doing this but I wish you good fortune." Whispered the black haired beauty as she glanced back at her room.
Wiping her eyes proved to be futile as the tears kept coming, 'God I'm pathetic, look at me. I'm crying over nothing!' Her face was buried by her hands as she sat in solitude, politely declining the handmaidens' offers to keep her company.
All she seemed to be good at was sobbing, her body was shaking as she let her emotions run wild. "It's ok to cry my dear. It's natural, let it all out." A soothing voice told her as she looked up and from her red, puffy eyes she saw her father smiling sadly at her.
"Father..." Croaked out the dancer as her father sat next to her. "Shh Diao Chan, I'm hear for you. Just let it all out then you can tell me everything." Despite the tears and the mental break down Diao Chan smiled at her father's kindness.
After a few moments she finished crying and Wang Yun spoke up once more. "Now tell me, what's bothering you Diao Chan?" "Father, everything is bothering me. The mission I just always fear that someone will find out and you'll be killed."
Diao Chan paused briefly as she continued, "Jia Xu's death.. He was there for me, I didn't like him but he knew about my mission and seemed to be helping me. I feel conflicted, I don't know if I should be glad or sad about his death."
Wang Yun didn't speak up as he knew there was one more thing on his daughter's chest. "And I'm changing, I can feel it. I don't want to change, I find myself wishing for everyone to die during a battle, hoping that Li Ru, Dong Zhuo and anyone else I don't like get skewered like a pig. And I hate it! I hate it! I loathe the fact I'm turning into a monster and I just can't stop it!"
After a moment of silence Wang Yun grabbed Diao Chan's hand and smiled at her comfortingly, a gesture she appreciated. "My dear, beloved daughter everyone changes, the change can be either on the inside or the outside but the important thing is to remember who you really are and not let these changes take over your life. About Jia Xu, forget about it, he was very perceptive and that is the only reason he figured out the mission and don't let him get to you, he is now a past ghost and it's ok to feel sad about his death, all death is sad to some degree regardless of who it is."
The world seemed to stay still as Diao Chan slowly looked into her Father's eyes and with a real smile on her face, one he hadn't seen since the start of the mission, she spoke. "Thank you... For everything." And she truly meant it.
"That's what fathers are for." However the peaceful moment was shattered when the same soldier from before came rushing to them, huffing and puffing. He eyed a certain part of Diao Chan's body as he spoke, this didn't go unnoticed by the two.
"Yuan Shao is attacking! Hurry and get prepared!" Both father and daughter raised an eyebrow at the lack of discipline the soldier had, Diao Chan put on a fake smile. "Thank you for informing us soldier but keep in mind, I like people to look at my face when they're talking to me."
A few minutes laughter, Diao Chan armed with her weapon and her lady guards behind her spied on Lu Bu who was rallying the army. When he was done she stepped out and walked towards him. Hearing the noise, he turned his head to face her. The nineteen year old had a coy smile as Lu Bu's eyebrow raised at the words she spoke.
"Allow me to accompany you."
After this chapter, there is only the battle left and then the epilogue! Were nearing the end of the fic, I really hope this was a good chapter and portrayed real emotions. And no, the Zhen Ji bit wasn't entirely pointless.
