Last Thing I Remembered

Disclaimer: Butch Hartman does; I don't.
So, no bells shall toll for me come May. We decided to stay friends, and he informed me about three weeks ago, he was getting back in the dating game. So don't cry for me. Grab the popcorn and enjoy this final installment of "Last Thing I Remembered."
The Son's Blade
"What is the very last thing you remember?" Bullet asked, sitting down on the edge of Phantom's bed. The boy had been found wandering in the Zone close to edge of Frostbite's territory. The yetis didn't take too kindly to those who wandered near.
Phantom opened hazy green eyes for the third time that morning, then quickly shut them. "My mom," he hoarsely whispered. "She looked at me with such a look of distrust and...and...and..."
"Hate?" Bullet suggested, supplying the word for the boy.
"No," Phantom shook his head. "Not hate. Something akin to sorrow. Maybe a hint of anger."
"He'd do well in my realm with his choice of words," a dark baritone said from the doorway opposite the bed. "And don't get up on my account. The Warden instructed me on where to find the knight who found my sister's amulet. This is Phantom, I take?"
"Yes," Bullet stated, through gritted teeth. "He's had a bad run-in with the Fentons."
"Attempted to go through their portal?" Aragon cocked his head in puzzlement. "For one so young, you should know by now the difference between eggs and apples."
"Huh?" Phantom was now really confused by this strange man with blue skin, red eyes and stringy gray hair. "Who are you?"
The blue-skinned ghost's eyes flashed an angry red, then stopped, sniffing slightly. He frowned and then stared stupidly at Danny for a minute, then a shot a look of horror at Bullet. "Another one?" he asked, horrified at the thought.
"Yes," Bullet admitted. "He's the Fentons' only son. Within moments of his birth, when their portal was activated, I found him. With the aid of the Time Master, the Warden and I have taken the boy under our tutelage. His parents have recently gained knowledge of their son's new life, and he chose to come to us rather than face their wrath."
"A wise child," Aragon mused. "The Warden has given me the amulet and has confirmed the boy's role is its lost and recovery; it coincides with my sister's own story. I had the thought of thanking the boy with a gift of gold, but perhaps a more suitable reward will be offered in the near future."
Phantom paled, imagining what the medieval prince would do to him. "Yes, Your Grace?" Bullet had drummed into him the proper addresses for different important ghosts following his session with 'Capture Klemper'.
"Phantom, I would havest thee reconcile thyself with thy parents," the ghost prince told him, a stern expression on his face as he slipped into more the modern speech Danny was used to. "Dora and I have many regrets in our wardrobe and I wouldst not have you repeat them. You are young, halfling, and have found strong allies in the Warden and his lieutenant, and a powerful mentor in the Clockwork Chronos. No other ghost has does this before, ever to my knowledge. Use your gifts wisely."
"Yes, Your Grace," Danny said, bowing at best as he could with his injuries. Bullet clucked at him and shoved him back down into the mattress.
"I will see to the reconciliation, Your Highness," Bullet said, taking charge. "Phantom will rest for a sennight, then he, myself, and the Fentons shall have a talk."
"And of Plasmius?"
"He has no knowledge of the boy's existence, of that I am sure," Bullet stated.
"Good."
Waiting until Aragon had left the room, Bullet gave Phantom a nuggie. "Well done, ghost child. You remembered all your lessons, though I do have one question."
"Yes?" Phantom paled.
"Whatever were you doing in Frostbite's territory? That place is bitingly cold."
"I don't know," Danny confessed. "Felt kinda warm to me."
"Ice core," Bullet said. "I will have to consult with the Clockwork Chronos on this. Get some rest, Phantom. You have a busy day tomorrow."
"Yes, sir."
"Why didn't you tell me he was a ghost?" Jazz yelled at her parents the next morning at the breakfast table. "You could've found a cure to fix him."
"It's not that simple, Jazzypants," her father said, taking off his goggles. "This is something that happened to Danny because he tried to fix one of our inventions. Your brother is very lucky to not have a worse fate befall him."
"He has friends and an employer in the Ghost Zone, sweetie," her mother chimed in. "It's not like he's really alone in there. " She looked up at the ceiling for the longest moment. "I just wish he'd come home."
"Me too," Jazz admitted. "He's a pain in the butt, but I wouldn't want him any other way."
"I can bring him home," a sultry voice sing-songed from above them, emerald-pink smoke wafting it way into the room around them. "But what price will you mortals be willing to pay?"
A Few Months Later
"Jazz, you sure this is a good idea?" Phantom asked his sister, as they stood on the threshold of the Fenton Portal.
"Yes, Danny, for the last time," she told him, running her fingers through his hair, trying to make him look more presentable. "This was a bargain Mom and Dad made with Desiree, that wish-granting ghost I told you about."
"Yeah," he grumbled. "Walker told me about her."
"So are you ready to come home?" she asked him.
"As ready as I'll ever be," he muttered.
The Clockwork Chronos turned off the viewing portal. "Are you satisfied?"
"Yes," came the clipped response. "You've all done remarkably well dropping hints to the boy. Now the ball is in my court, I suppose."
"We are in one accord with the Fentons' wish, Plasmius," Clockwork warned him.
The vampirish half-ghost chuckled. "Then I shall send out the invites to the reunion tomorrow."
Author's Note: So the rest of the series progresses normally from this point in time starting with Danny's and Vlad's first meeting in "Bitter Reunions". I'll be doing a special oneshot sequel covering the events of the episode "Prisoners of Love" and tying it in with another fanfic story "Poor Flower, Poor Heart" for Valentine's Day. I may know more of the details of the Fentons' bargain with Desiree by then.
