"Tessa, Come in."" Jem said with the smallest smile

Tessa gave the smallest smile back to Jem, as she came and sat on the other side of Jem's bedroom Will got up and left to give Jem and Tess a moment to their selves and to be together.

Jem looked at Tessa to see tears forming in her eyes he grabbed her hands in his. "Tessa, what his the matter love?" he asked sweetly

Tessa looked up with a sad smile and said "I need to tell you something James."

Jem looked up at Tessa and frowned.

"What is it Tessa, what is the matter?" he asked quietly

Tessa sat on the chair to the side of James' bed and grabbed his hand and sniffled.

"Jem, I'm scared for you. I have this horrible feeling that if I leave you, that if I even close my eyes to rest I will never see you again. Maybe I am just paranoid or I'm worrying to much but I just can't shake this feeling of that you'll leave me alone in this dark world. James a world without is such a dark and horrible place I won't be able to handle it." Tessa finally stopped talking and looked up at James with tears running down her face.

Jem leaned forward and wiped the tears out of her eyes and brushed back her hair and caressed her cheek.

"Tess, I can't make any promises that I can't keep you know I can't but if I could I would say that; I will grow old with you and that will have children of our own and then will be grandparents, and that will see the world together as it evolves. I want to promise you all of those things; to give you those things that you deserve dearly but if I do I'll break them and let you down." Jem said with his voice breaking at his last thought.

He took a deep breath and looked Tessa in the eyes and said softly;

" I can make this promise though Tessa, we will get married right away once I am well and I will be standing at that altar, watching you come down the aisle in that beautiful dress. Then we will say our vows and then I will kiss my bride. We will live in the moment with no looking back. I want to spend as much time with you as I can because I love you Tessa Gray and there is nothing in this world that will change that no matter what."

Jem finished his promise by leaning toward Tessa slowly and kissed her gently on the lips.

"I love you James." Tessa said gently

"And I love you Tessa' he replied back.

Tessa stayed with Jem for a couple more hours before saying good night to James. Once Tessa made it back to her room and got ready for bed she finally relaxed and closed her eyes and fell asleep. As soon as sleep came it was swiftly taken away with a cry of pain from a male. She sat up abruptly and listened to the cries for mere seconds before running to Jem's room. She stopped in her tracks and gasped.

Jem was no where to be found. Only the parabati was remaining in her fiancés room and clutching his chest in pain hunched over with tears coming down his face.

"Will?" was all she said

Tessa finally realized what was happening as soon as she saw where Will was clutching; the parabati rune was faded, gone, like it was erased from ever existing. Only a faint silver outline of what was once binding two brothers was gone.

"No, no, no this can't be happening. Will! Where is he where is Jem, tell me please. Tell me he's alright and that he is fine please, please." She frantically cried out

Will looked up at Tessa with pain in his eyes and shook his head

"He's gone Tess, and I can't handle it, I- I feel like I am being ripped in half." Will said in an empty, emotionless voice.

"No! He's not gone not my Jem he- he can't be gone. He promised, he promised me that he would get to marry me that he would get to have that precious moment no! You're wrong Will. I just left him he was fine, he was fine. He was happy. No. This is not happening it can't be" Tessa was sobbing and soon fell onto her knees shaking with every breathe she took.

"Tess, he's gone and I feel it in here, in my heart. The parabati bond is broken."
