Claudia laid still in the bed as we waited for the doctor to come. She looked so fragile laying there, and I knew that it was my fault. If only it was me there in her place. Claudia, please forgive me.
"Stop staring at me." Claudia said, her voice barely a whisper. "It was not you fault."
But that is where she is wrong. If only things were different.
"Steve," Claudia called out to me. I slowly walked over to her and picked up her hand that did not have an IV in it. He fingers were small and cold compared to mine. Claudia closed her eyes. Her breathing was slow and shallow. I ran my hand through her hair. " Don't leave me alone."
Claudia weakly took my hand and placed it on her cold face. Tears were streaming down her face. She slowly opened her pain filled eyes. Her brown eyes locked with mine. "I promise." I whispered to her.
" Glad to see that you are a wake." The doctor said as she walked in the room. She reached over and pumped some hand sanitizer into her hands and rubbed it in. Then she pulled to gloves out of the box and put them in her pocket. "How are you feeling?"
"Like I was in a car wreck." Claudia answered sarcastically back. I was glad to see her more like her normal, not broken, self.
The doctor grabbed Claudia's chart off the wall and walked over to the bed. She quickly read over it. "Well, I can give some pain meds in about another ten minutes. Are you thirsty or hungry?"
Claudia shook her head 'No'.
"Well you have been out for about three days. You will need to eat. I will have a nurse get you something light to eat. Until then I would like to run some test to see ow everything is."
"I am going to call Artie and tell him that you are awake." I told Claudia.
A/N: I am so sorry for not updating soon. I will never go that long again. I am going to add a chapter between four and five here soon. It will not have anything important in it I just feel like things would bee better with it.
