Chapter 12: Epilogue
*Three months later*
I glance in the mirror, selfishly taking one last look at myself before I walk down the aisle. My hair is swept up into a loose French twist with a few curls falling down to frame my face. My makeup is soft, a hint of blush coloring my cheeks and mascara darkening my blonde eyelashes. A pearl necklace hangs around my neck, accenting the ivory shade of my wedding dress. This is probably the only occasion that it would be acceptable to wear white in Dauntless.
I look at Christina and nod that I'm ready, as she, my maid of honor, hands me my bouquet of flowers -red and white roses with dark grey and black carnations- and walks down the aisle ahead of me. I glance to my right and send a smile to Uriah who will be escorting me to the end of the aisle in lieu of my father and Caleb. Neither of them wanted to come. Oh well.
When the soft music of a piano begins to play, we start walking down the aisle. My eyes are downcast with a soft grin pulling at the sides of my lips. I remain looking at the floor until Uriah softly nudges me and whispers to look up. I do as he says and see Tobias staring at me with a look of immense love. I can only hope my features display the same emotion, if not stronger. Nothing has ever felt so right.
*Time lapse because I've never been to a wedding and I don't know how to write it.*
"I never wanted anything so much, than to drown in your love and not feel your rain…"
I look up at Tobias as we dance our first dance as a married couple and smile at him. "I love you," I say softly as our song plays in the background.
"…you're keeping me dooooowwwwnnnn," I let out an airy laugh as Tobias dips me mid spin when Sara Bareilles hits the climax of her song.
"I love you, too, more than anything," he whispers against my lips as he brings me up from the dip. We share a soft kiss before Tobias twirls me just as the song comes to an end.
"Something always brings me back to you, it never takes too long."
He pulls me back to him and our first dance comes to an end, both of us beaming with smiles that couldn't be any brighter.
Zeke stands on a table and shouts across the room, "Let's party!"
Cheers are elicited from the crowd that has gathered, half of them not even invited. Oh well, I'm too happy to care.
Music, much faster than before, begins to play and before I have a chance to blink the dance floor is crowded with the many Dauntless. I hear a shriek behind me before I'm pulled into a hug by Christina.
"I'm so happy for you!" she cries.
"I've never been happier," I tell her. I've never been more truthful.
The men of our group walk up and clap Tobias on the back, giving him congratulatory wishes.
Max walks up, "Congrats, Four, Tris. Four, let me make you a leader as a present."
"No, Max, I'm happy in the Control Room," Four replied, still smiling.
"I figured you would say that. A guy can try, can't he?" Max replied.
After a few more congratulatory wishes, Tobias and I join hands and begin to dance. We dance and dance, it seems as if we could go on all night, too caught up in each other to care, but we halt when Zeke tells us we should probably cut the cake.
The cake, Dauntless Chocolate, of course, is cut and Tobias and I share a piece. We open a bottle of champagne and celebrate in true Dauntless fashion: cake and alcohol.
*I think you understand that they're going to dance and eat cake*
Tobias and I walk to the chasm and stand by the railing, reveling in its beauty. "I love you," he whispers.
"I love you," I respond, we kiss and join hands, once again, walking home for the first time as a married couple.
The end. Maybe? Read below.
A/N: Hello, my fabulous people! I told you there would be an epilogue, and an epilogue there was. It's immensely late, I know, but I'm a high school senior. Free time is a rare thing.
I'd like to take a little bit of time to respond to a review.
S (guest): I appreciate your review. The previous chapter wasn't meant to be the last chapter, as a matter of fact I had planned on immediately posting an epilogue and/or sequel. However, as I previously stated, I don't have much free time. I have a lot of coursework, college entrance exams, and very little time. I would also like to address the fact that you think I'm proud? It makes me wonder if I came off as a bit cocky. If I did, that was unintentional. I believe I was simply happy that so many people even took the time to read this story, let alone follow it. My sincerest apologies. You also stated that it this is a good story, but at the end of your review you said that no one can make a good fanfic for them? I'm just a bit confused. Is it a good story or do you believe it is bad? I suppose it doesn't really matter, I was just curious. Again, I appreciate your review. You encouraged me to write this epilogue on the little bit of time I have to myself. Thanks.
And now for all of you, I LOVE YOU! You guys are great. I'm thinking about posting a sequel, but I don't know when that will happen. I have a lot of ideas (thanks to two special people) that I want to incorporate into the sequel. Very angsty ideas. Tehehe. Anyways, I will hopefully be able to post a chapter soon. Maybe later this week? If you want I can send you a PM when it gets posted. I love you all! Let me know what you thought of this! Sorry it was short, weddings aren't really my forte. Adios, mi amigos!
