Nights in Paris – Chapter 6

Sonny had a hard time sleeping that night. All he could worry about was that creepy phone call. And Heather said that she received them often?

"Don't worry, she'll be fine."

He bit his lip, remembering Heather's words. Would she be alright?

How would I know? Heather has been there longer than me. There's really nothing to worry about. But it doesn't hurt to do a little investigating!

Sonny brightened at the smell of J-J's cooking. He wasn't too surprised by her cooking when she baked such delicious cookies. He sat down across from the Australian.

"Guess a letter."

"A." J-J shook her head.

"Nope. Try again."

"I".

"One down!"

After much guessing, Sonny said what the word was.

"Cookies." The woman grinned.

"Correct! That was fun! We should play again sometime." They both rose from their seats, heading towards the door.

"Sure." He smiled at her.

"I see it's time for work. I need to be at Minette's today for fitting." The young man's worries came back to him when she said that.

"Okay. Let's take the Metro. Saves us both some gas."

"So, Minette tricked you into all of this?"

"Yeah. Now I have to stay here in Paris much longer than I have wanted to." J-J Ling adverted her gaze from him, her arms folded. "But it isn't so bad, ya know? I get to see and take pictures of France, which will be great for my blog when I arrive back at the States."

"You don't want to live in Australia?" Sonny asked.

"It's great and all, but very crowded there. Besides, my home is in the USA. In Florida."

"I take it you have been to Disney World?"

"At least twice, yeah." J-J grinned at the boy.

"I have never been. How is it?"

"Seriously? Oh... it's very fun. Especially the rides and the cotton candy. I have never had much of that back home."

"Maybe we can go back to the States together." The two shared a laugh.

"We're here." When the two stepped into the moulin, J-J went into Minette's office and closed the door. Sonny turned to face his coworker. He noticed that she looked pretty angry. Curious, he walked over to the girl.

"I'm not in the mood for your games, Joon," She snapped.

"I was going to ask you what was wrong..." Slowly, Heather lifted her head.

"Yeah, right."

"Honest. You seem angry."

"Because I am angry!" She began to sob. "You know Deiter?"

"Uh, huh?"

"Well, he and I were taking a walk in the park together. Then he stopped me and told me that the timing just wasn't right for us. Later, I see him dining and talking with that red-headed freak," Heather explained, hissing the last few words. "Does he like me or not? I'm confused. So confused," She cried. Sonny thought back to a few nights ago...

"H-Heather?" She paused in between whimpering and stared at him.

"Um, well, I have actually seen her with Hugo." Heather's brown eyes widened.

"Hugo Butterly? Her sworn enemy and all?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"When?" Sonny then proceeded to tell her about the night he had came over the the wealthy man's mansion. Heather was silent. Then a slow grin, spread across her pink lips.

"Really? Thanks for letting me know this," She thanked, then headed out the door, slamming it behind her. What's wrong with her?

Sonny then realized where she was going.

Jean-Michelle!
