Rachel lay absolutely still, her only movements was the slight rise and fall of her chest. I'd like to think of her as asleep, but I knew better to than to have false hope. She was much to still. Not even a twitch of muscle, or eyes moving beneath her pale pink lids. She only inhaled, and exhaled. That was all.

I sat in a cushioned chair at her side. Since she didn't necessarily need to be on life support, I had her moved here. He demon said there wasn't much that medical attention could do for her. I wasn't so sure, but he claimed all that was actually needed is to make sure she was well-fed. And to have her washed every time she crapped herself. He said to pretend she was Sleeping Beauty until further notice. What an ass. He hadn't even seemed all that concerned for her, repeatedly saying he had a plan B. Each time that I demanded that he fix Rachel, he'd warn me to be patient and to shut up. Before the sun had risen, he had sat in the chair on her other side, his alien eyes on her face, and occasionally on mine. He was silent the entire time.

Now, after two hours since he'd gone, I still sat next to Rachel, holding her limp hand. "Come on, Rachel," I begged in a low voice. "Please, do something. Open your eyes, love." Nothing. I brought her hand closer to my face and kissed her knuckles. Nothing. My breath left me in a rush. "Please, my love, do something. Anything. Squeeze my hand. Punch me in the face." I pressed her palm to my cheek. "Come on. It's okay. I'll allow it this one time, Rachel. I know you've been dying to." Still nothing.

I sighed, turning my face to kiss her warm palm. I glanced at my watch, grimacing. It's been five minutes since Quen had alerted me that Rachel's friends had arrived at the front gate. Of course I allowed them entry. Quen told me to expect Tamwood, Jenks, and Rachel's alpha male, David hue. He'd also said to expect them earlier than I'd expect it to take driving the three miles of my driveway. Ivy was behind the wheel apparently. They should be bursting through Rachel's suite door any time now.

Sending my breath over Rachel's fingers, I returned my attention to her. There she lay, because a stupid human hadn't been able to keep his word. I stood and leaned over her "slumbering" form, pressing my lips to her forehead. "Oh, Rachel," I whispered, my breath shifting a few of her curly strands. "Please wake up before your friends get here. You know it'll make them happy to see you healthy as a horse. If you can't open your eyes for me, than maybe you can do it for them?" My voice shook at the end and I took a calming breath that did me no good.

After a moment, I kissed her cheek and left my forehead resting on hers. I hoped that in the influence of her friends, she'll awaken. When I told that to Algaliarept, shortly after getting a hold of Jenks minutes before the sun rose, he told me not to get my hopes up. I doubted it to, but I couldn't help thinking that maybe, she would. But again, I doubt it.

I heard them before I saw them. Especially Jenks. I kissed Rachel's forehead again, and sat back down. I released her hand from my near death grip, and placed it gently at her side as I listened to the commotion the vampire and pixy made. From the sounds of it, my staff was unwilling to let them enter the bedroom until they could clarify that that was alright with me.

"Move the hell out of our Tink-blasted way before I prick you in the ass!" I heard Jenks shrill. I shook my head. Ivy didn't seem all that better, what with snarling at whoever to get their hands off of her. I sighed.

This ought to be joyful.

Okay, so I apologize for this extremely short chapter. Hopefully, the next one isn't.

Oh, and the room that Trent moved Rachel in is Ellasbeth's old room.

Double oh, and next chappie, Rachel's slumbering will be explained.

Triple oh, and Ivy is finally making an appearance!
