Chapter 5
~Vince's PoV~
Today was the day, I was going to make the team. I just knew it. I had been practicing for what seemed like forever and it was all about to pay off. I was determined to make the basketball team and I didn't know what to do if I didn't, I was sure that I was going to make it. Last week, Spinelli had dragged us to Getch's audition and she planned to do the same when I tried out for the team. I was impressed with Gretchen's singing and I had never heard her sing like that before. She was amazing to say the least.
"So," Teej says out of the blue. We were in study hall, just the two of us. "I can't believe you're going to homecoming with the she devil." He's brought this up a million times and I tell him the same thing every time. "She begged me till I said yes," I reply. I was trying to get some math done before next period, which was when I had math. "Are we really going to talk about dating?" I give him a look, he should be the last person to talk about dating. He hasn't even admitted to liking Spin.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He replies, hands up in defeat. "I didn't say we had to talk about dating, I just can't get over it."
"You also can't ask Spin out." I stick my tongue out at him.
"I bet I can."
"Do it then."
He then realizes what he has said. "Uh, maybe later…"
"Nope, you already bet."
"What about you? What are you gonna do?"
"What do you mean? I don't have to do anything."
"You bet me and now I bet you. I bet that you…won't tell me who you like."
"That doesn't even make any sense."
"Just tell me who you like and I'll ask Spinelli out."
"Will you really? Or will you chicken out?"
"I swear I will not chicken out."
"Fine, I don't like anyone."
"You didn't give me a good answer so I can't ask Spinelli out." I roll my eyes and turn back to my homework. "You going to the party tonight?"
I shrug. "Wasn't planning on it."
"You should go, the whole group should go."
"You're going to try to convince Gretchen to go to a party, good luck. Remember how long it took you to convince her to go on that camping trip? You had to tell her it would be a good learning experience just for her to consider going."
"Don't worry about Gretch, I got it. Are you going or not?"
"I will, if you can get Gretchen to go."

"A party? No way." I roll my eyes at TJ, he was crazy to think I'd go to a party. "Even if it is Friday, a party is not my place to be." Parties were wild and crazy, I've seen movies.
"Oh, come on Gretch, it'll be fun," TJ challenged. "And wouldn't it be nice to get a break from homework and studying?"
"I think it will be fun," Spinelli joined in. "If we don't like it, we can leave." She takes a bite from her sandwich. "I've already asked my parents if you can spend the night. They said yes," she said with a mouthful of sandwich.
I groan, there was no backing out of this now. They already had plans and I was stuck. "Fine," I mumble. "I'll ask my parents if I can spend the night." This was a terrible idea, but there was no backing out now. I was in and there was no way to escape. I can't believe I got dragged into this!

The music was loud and drunk people danced around the living room like they were in a club. It was kind of disgusting, teenagers were disgusting. Was this really how high schoolers acted? I did not want to be a high school girl if all they did was twerk and get drunk. A girl bumps into me and almost drops her drink. I couldn't get too mad, she was drunk as fuck. "Oops, sorry," she giggled, she slurred her words. She patted my cheek then walked away, tripping over herself as she went.
I shake my head and look around for my friends, we came separately instead of coming together. I spotted TJ in the crowd, some girls surrounded him. Ugh, stupid girls. Could you even consider those shorts shorts? I make my way across the room before getting stopped by some guy. He looked older, maybe a junior. He flashed me a smile, but he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at my chest. "Wanna take your eyes off my boobs?" I glare, I cross my arms over my chest. It wasn't that they were big or anything.
"Oh, I'm sorry." He's drunk, he doesn't look away. I punch him in the arm and he hurries away. I turn to continue towards TJ, he's right behind me. "You gave me a heart attack," I punch his arm softly.
"Having fun?" He points toward the direction the boy went. "Looks like you handled that well." I just shrug. "Want a drink?"
"Yeah, I'll take a drink." I smile a little at him, he looked so cute in the dimmed light. I was regretting this plain t-shirt and jeans. Other girls relied on makeup and pushup bras, I didn't see the point in all of that. I look around the cramped room; that girl stuffed her bra, that's a pushup bra, those are fake. He comes back with our drinks a few minutes later, he hands me my drink with a smile.
"Come on," he says, grabbing my free hand. "Let's go somewhere quieter." We go outside to the backyard, it smells like cigarette smoke and drugs. "So, this is what high school parties are like." He sips his drink and looks out onto the lawn.
"So much fun," I say sarcastically. "Everyone gets laid and can't remember the next day. Sounds like so much fun."
He laughs and looks at me, I blush slightly. "So much fun." He sighs and looks away again. "So, I was talking to Vince and I need to tell you something." He pauses and I nod, telling him to go on. "I…I really like you."
I drop my cup in surprise. Did he just say what I thought he just said? "W-what?"
"Erm, never mind."
"I like you too," I plant a kiss on his cheek.
A/N: I know it took so long, I'm sorry. A lot has happened in my life and it has been hard to write lately.
