Chapter 2
Those were definitely not the questions Musa was expecting. Musa raised an eyebrow slightly confused but amused.
"Those are some.. um.. interesting questions? It sounds like you know what you're talking about. However, I did promise to try and answer truthfully so I guess I should tell you I don't know what a patronus is and I have never used a wand. Which, I'm guessing, is what you have in your pocket there." Harry's jaw dropped. But he closed it after a second and frowned thinking for a second before deciding to explain.
"A patronus is the only spell that supposedly can get rid of a dementor, it's powered by happy memories. Also, in the wizarding world, not using a wand is incredible! It takes an extremely powerful witch or wizard to do that kind of magic without a wand." Musa narrowed her eyes at the words witches and wizards.
"Well the only witches and wizards I've met, haven't used wands and are extremely evil. Actually, majority of the ones I've met have tried to kill me at least once if not more. After those experiences my views of witches and wizards are not the best." Musa looked away from Harry and stared at the ground lost in the memories as they walked. Harry frowned at her for a moment before looking down in silence too. After a bit of thinking Harry quietly began to talk again.
"I thought you were a witch when I saw the power coming you. I apologize if I offended you by assuming that, but I go to a school for witches and wizards and none of them are really, evil per say…" Under his breath Harry muttered, "I mean slytherin house are kind of pricks but not really evil..." Harry glances at Musa before looking up to the sky. "But if you aren't a witch, what are you?" Musa looked over at Harry then turned back to continue looking forward.
"I'm sorry if I offended you by speaking so poorly of your kind, I've simply not had very many good experiences with witches and wizards so I didn't realize there were a bunch of good ones out there. I mean the headmistress of Cloud Tower school for witches is pretty nice even if she's a naturally sour woman. But to answer your earlier question, I'm a fairy." Harry frowned in thought but then pointed to his house as they arrived.
"That's the place." As Musa and Harry got Dudley up to the house, Petunia opened the door and shrieks.
"My Duddykins, my poor Duddy… Vernon! Come quick!" Vernon comes rushing to the door at her call where he quickly grabs Dudley's arms. "Dudley! Who did this to you?" Dudley raised his hands and pointed a shaking arm in Musa and Harry's general direction. Vernon turns to Harry angrily.
"Are you happy? You've finally done it! You've finally drove him loopy!" Petunia gasped.
"Vernon, don't say that!" Vernon turned to her, face bright red.
"Petunia. Our boy has gone yumpy." Vernon faced back towards Musa and Harry. "I've reached my limit, do you hear? This is the last I'm gonna take of you and your nonsense." Vernon and Petunia quickly climbed in the car with Dudley and left. Harry glared angrily at the car as he watched them drive away.
"Yeah that was my Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. I live here with them." Harry sighed and turned back toward Musa. "You wanna come in?" Musa frowns in the direction the car had gone for a second before turning to Harry to answer him hesitantly.
"Sure.." Musa walked into the house behind Harry and closed the door before following Harry into the kitchen and sitting down at the table. Harry opened his mouth to ask Musa more about fairies when the doorbell rang. Harry frowned but got up to answer it and Musa followed him into the hallway. Harry opened the door, revealing a man with a long white beard and wearing robes.
"My dear boy! How nice to see you!" The man leaned over and looks around Harry to see Musa standing behind him down the hall a few feet. "And you must be Harry's Savior...I'm Albus Dumbledore. Headmaster of Hogwart's school for witches and wizards."
"Nice to meet you sir. I'm Musa. Guardian Fairy of the Realms and Alumni of Alfea's School for Fairies." Harry's eyes widened at this new information but turned back to Dumbledore with a frown.
"I could have handled the dementors." Dumbledore smiled,
"Ah, but she didn't save you from the dementors. She saved you from the ministry. Your patronus would have been under-aged magic in front of a muggle. That would result in your expulsion from Hogwarts. Now if you would excuse me, I'm here to speak with this delightful young lady." Harry stepped back in stunned silence allowing Dumbledore to walk into the hall toward Musa.
"It's pleasure to meet someone as great as a Guardian Fairy." Dumbledore held his hand out and Musa shook it and looked into his seemingly happy eyes. It was a little frightening that such a happy looking man could hold so much sadness and wisdom in his eyes.
"I would like to ask you to come with me and Harry to the Order of the Phoenix headquarters. Oh! I've also alright talked to the Guardians' Council and they have told me that it's your decision whether you will come or not, however, they believe it's for the best if as few of people as possible know where your true power comes from. That is, if you do decide to come and help us." Musa calmly studied his face before smiling widely at him.
"I will go with Harry. But I wish to alert Faragonda of this job so my friends can know." Dumbledore smiles again. "I have already alerted Headmistress Faragonda and she told me that would be your decision." Musa nodded seriously.
"I am a Guardian Fairy and it's my duty to help those in need." Dumbledore nodded understandingly.
"Some of the order will be here soon to pick up Harry. You may go with them to headquarters, but since I would need you to attend Hogwarts as the same year as Harry I was wondering if you could change your appearance to 15 before you meet the rest of the order. Now I have business elsewhere. So I'm pleased to have met you and I'll see you again soon." Then Dumbledore disapparated with a loud CRACK. Harry and Musa sat in silence for a second before Harry rose out of his seat and walked towards the kitchen.
"I'm going to make something to eat. You want some?" Musa turned towards Harry.
"I'll have some of whatever you're making. Thanks." Harry turned and went to the kitchen and began cooking while Musa sat down on the stairs where she magically summoned a flute and began playing a tune her mom once sang to her. Harry turned his head towards the sound for a second then turned back to cooking with a smile, enjoying the music.
An hour later Musa and Harry sat at the kitchen table done with their food, sitting in silence. Musa began humming the tune she had been playing earlier that night.
"What song is that Musa?" She stops humming and turns to Harry. She looks at him a second before looking out the window. "Just a song my mom used to sing to me." Harry's eyes softened understandingly.
"My mother is dead too... She and my father were killed by Voldemort. He tried to kill me to but for some reason the spell bounced back and killed him instead. All I had left was this scar." He lifted his hair off his forehead and showed her the lightning bolt. Musa smiled sadly.
"Maybe her love protected you. The natural magic of love is the strongest and least understood..." Harry smiled too.
"That sounds like a great theory. I like the thought that I'm alive because my mother's love was too strong for someone to destroy..." Musa turned to Harry,
"Sometimes love is what destroys though. My dad's love for my mom is what destroyed him. He went crazy and destroyed everything of hers and his that had to do with music. His love for her and music destroyed the music and our relationship. But he's working on fixing them both. I don't even know why I'm telling you this... I'm not the sharing type..." He nodded.
"I figured as much. Maybe I'm just easy to talk to." Musa nodded in agreement with that. "Oh! You're suppose to be 15 for attending Hogwarts... How will you do that It can't be a polyjuice potion since you can't look like someone else and you would run out of ingredients..." Musa quirked an eyebrow at Harry as he rambled.
"Remember Harry. I'm not a wizard. I also wasn't raised in the wizarding world. So for one, I don't know what polyjuice is, but also I can change my appearance with a spell or with fairy dust." Harry's jaw dropped. "You mean fairies actually have fairy dust like in the muggle stories?" Musa smiled.
"I had a friend that was raised on Earth. She loved Earth stories about fairies... But hell yeah we do! I suppose our dust is somewhat like the stories. Our magical fairy dust isn't unlocked for our use until we achieve our enchantix form though. Fairy dust is suppose to be able to reverse any dark magic. It can also be used to shrink us down if our bodies and minds are ready. My friend Bloom couldn't shrink until she had her Enchantix for a while cause she had to achieve her enchantix a different way since she was the only person from her realm left alive. But maybe I can explain all of our forms and such some other time. I should probably change myself now." Musa breathed in deep before drawing a sparkling shape in the air. The sparkles seem to hover there for a second before she spun them and it formed a little bottle. Musa popped the lid off and dumped some dust on her. Harry watched in awe as She got slightly smaller and her face slowly got less mature. Her hair got a little shorter and then the sparkles went away. Musa reached up and pulled her still decently long blue hair into pigtails and used magic to shrink her clothes down to her size.
"Do you have to get that bottle out all the time to use fairy dust?" Musa pulled her now shorter legs up onto the chair so she sat with her legs crossed.
"Thankfully no, that would be seriously a pain in some situations. If I'm in my fairy form all I have to do is flutter my wings and think of releasing it out my wings. But I'm not transforming right now to do it." Harry got quiet for a second then they heard something outside. Harry turned his head towards the door and smiled at the voices.
"I think our ride is here." Harry and Musa got up and walked outside.
