I looked up then screamed.
The little girls face was inches from mine and she had this sadistic smile on her face.. blood seeping out from her eyes, mouth, nose, ears, even pores.
She looked like the devil.
"Mom, do you want to me to cut some apples for you?"
I knew this day...I was still in junior high, my hair in its usual braided pigtails. I went straight to the hospital after dismissal to take care of mom.
"Yes please...Mai?"
"hnnn?"
"You know I'll always love you right?
Just then the scene started to twitch, like a poor copy of a movie. And the image started to look distorted...as if...it was just recorded. Why does this feels like a lie?
Drip
The scene changed, I saw a five year-old version of me beside a woman with long jet black wavy hair. Her back is facing me and she was caressing my chocolate curls.
"Mommy, why does my room have no windows?"
And then I noticed that the cream colored room didn't have any windows. Just four cream walls adorned with pink accents and beautiful frilly decorations, glow in the dark stars, a set of plush toys complete with all kinds of animals. A typical dream room for little girls
"To keep the bad men away from you honey..."
Drip
This is so wrong! what is wrong? I don't know. The surroundings change again and now I see a little girl with raven hair with bangs covering her forehead. She had dark brown eyes that reveal innocence. A woman which I assume to be her mother was holding her tiny hand and entered a huge facility that looked like a mansion. A brunette started walking towards them dressed in crisp business attire underneath her white lab gown. The little girl's mother told her to play with her teddy bear while she talks to the woman in which the little girl obediently complies.
"I can't take it anymore doctor, she's just too...different" she choked out a sob.
"Don't worry dear, we'll take good care of her." The woman placed her hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Sweetheart, mommy found out you are sick and you need to be cured. Will you be a good girl and let Dr. Saya treat you? Mommy will be back once you are all better okay?" she kissed the little girl's temple and reluctantly leaves the facility.
Drip
"Sweetie, time for your shot..." the doctor finds the girl in the corner of the room shaking like a leaf and looking at her with wide-scared eyes.
"NO! IT HURTS!" she protested
"No it won't sweet pea, Dr. Saya already adjusted the medicine so that it wont hurt" she coaxed but the little girl started wailing. Dr. Saya signalled something outside and big men went inside the room forcibly immobilizing the little girl. Then two nurses brought out a tray and a huge metal syringe.
"Don't worry sweetheart, this will just feel like a bite of an ant" she injected the girl and my body immediately started to burn. I feel the medicine being pushed in my veins like searing fire. Pain is an understatement. It feels like I'm being burned from the inside. I screamed as much as I could but it does not placate the pain.
"Dr. The patient's brain waves are going haywire, it showed more psychic activity that the last experiment." The nurse said
"So increasing the dose increases psychic activity huh? I wonder if it could go higher."
"MAKE IT STOP!" the little girls screamed while they observed outside in the glass window.
"Doc, the patient's vital stats are going crazy, the PK level at max as well and-"
Crack
"This is getting dangerous, the patient's brain might literally explode we should stop."the nurse said worried about the crack in the huge glass window.
"Do not let her die, I still need a few experiments before my research is complete. Prepare to electrocute her."
"Yes maam" the nurse pushed a button and sent electricity to the wires she was connected. The little girl started convulsing and after a few seconds went limp. A huge man went inside the testing room to pick her up.
"Why mommy"
"Doc, the patient is still conscio- ARGHHH!" the bouncer screamed and fell on the floor. Blood oozing from his mouth, ears, eyes, pores etc. The girl looked up and stared at the nurse and a few seconds later met the same fate as the bouncer.
"You idiots! She is PK-LT do not look into her eyes!"She started punching red buttons but the system broke down and exploded causing a certain button to malfunction. The medicine stated running through her veins again this time nonstop. The little girls screamed in pain
"WHY?! I was a good girl! Why do you punish me like this? Argghhhhhh! I hate you!" Just then the air became heavy and an electrical field started to form around the child. Everybody started clutch their heads in pain. One of those was in those very similar rooms like the little girl screaming.
"NO! Were not psychics! Let me out! Believe me.."
I clutched my chest which was burning. My breaths were shallow and I feel like I'm going to puke.
"Mai wake up!"
Naru help me, it hurts
"Noll, I'm going to send my shiki to suck her energy. Her Ki is a real mess now."
"Whatever Lin, just get her out of there"
I hear Lin whistle and I feel like someone is sucking the life out of me. I groaned and let out a mourned cry.
"Mai" I ignored Naru and dashed to the bathroom, not even making it to the toilet I vomited on the ivory tiles.
~Noll's POV
"Holy shit, Ayako you'd better do something about this now" monk said. After Mai opened her eyes she pushed me out of her way and made a dash for the toilet. Apparently she never made it before she vomited.
"Oh god Mai, monk get kit, I need to take her blood pressure. Lin carry her back to the bed please and people don't cramp on her space!" everyone cleared out of the way and maintained a good distance from Mai's bed and she was pale, clammy and heaving like she having an asthma attack. When I saw the state of the bathroom I nearly gasped at the realization...she vomited blood.
I went to the other side of the bed where I can't disturb Matsuzaki-san and held her pale hand. Shit, her situation is getting worse! Maybe I shouldn't take cases for a while and do something about Mai. She can't continue being like this, if her psychic powers are going haywire she might...die. I choked and swallowed hard as I gripped her small hand tightly as if she was my lifeline. Are you even serious? Don't you realize it yet you idiot, she is your lifeline!
"Okay, she's fine now but she lost quite an amount of blood. Although transfusion is not necessary, I will have to let her take some iron pills. And she will be very weak Naru, I don't think she could get up for a few hours..or a day."
"That will be okay Ms. Matsuzaki."
"Dr, Davis, you have to see the tapes. There was a huge activity while you were trying to wake Mai up." Taylor said I hesitantly let go of Mai's hand and asked Ms. Matsuzaki to stay with her.
"I'll stay with them" Eisen said What the fuck? As if id-
"It's better for someone to stay with them in case something happens" he gave me a look that told me to back-off and though that pissed me off he did have a point. I gritted my teeth and nodded then went back to the base with the others.
"Is Ms. Taniyama okay?" dad asked and I nodded
"Oliver, I know you know this but I think you should not let this incident drag out any longer. Will it be okay of Ms. Taniyama went to England so stabilize her psychic condition?" dad said with a serious tone.
"I was already planning that dad, I will book tickets to England after this." He nods and went back to the cams and replayed the tapes. While we were in the bedroom, there have been moaning sounds going on in the living room, the not fixed objects were rattling and scratching, thumping and knocking noises are evident. After setting up a routine and a plan on taking turns to watch the feeds I went straight to Mai's bedroom and informed Matsuzaki-san that I'll watch Mai for the night and she and Hara-san sleep in the next room. I also asked them to make some charms for everybody before heading inside.
When I opened the door I winced at the sight of Eisen gently caressing her face with the cak of his hand whispering something I couldn't make out. Noticing my presecnce he stood up and looked at me with those strange violet hues that give off something I am not fond of. Before he is completely out of the room I said
"I don't trust you" he turned to face me, his face impassive
"I don't need you to" he answered
"You hide a lot of secrets, and I don't want Mai to be involved in whatever you are planning." I glared at him, he sighed and looked Mai with what...Lonigng, painful eyes?
"Some things are better left unsaid." He said and closed the door behind him. I looked at the brunette sleeping peacefully and sat next to her watching her even breaths and mesmerized by her peaceful look. She stirred when she felt the bed dip and opened her eyes slightly.
"Naru..." she called softly
"Yes?" she looked at me eye-to-eye. Her brown orbs looking straight to the depths of my soul, she started to tear up a bit but managed to choke out a sob.
"I'm scared, don't leave Me." she whimpered like a lost little girl and out of impulse I took her in my arms where she should be and caressed her soft brown hair.
"What makes you thing I'm going anywhere?" I said softly while sniffled and clutched my shirt, leaning more in my chest.
"People I love always leave me...will you also do the same thing?" she looked up and starts tearing up. I wiped her tears with my thumb
"I won't go anywhere Mai, I won't survive without your tea." I smirked and she rolled her eyes at me and smiled.
"I hope so..." she said quietly. And before I could filter what my mouth will say...
"I won't survive without you too" I looked at her wide eyes, loving how brown they are then blushing like a teenager. You are one moron. Dammit! The things she does to me...
"I love you Naru" I felt my heart race and my breath hitched. I want to say something but I can't find my voice.
"But I feel like I'm changing..." she buried her face in my neck.
"I'm not going to be the same anymore..." silence met us after that statement and a few minutes more her breath evened out and I figured she was already asleep.
"I will still love you Mai, that won't change." I kissed her temple and pulled her closer to me afraid she'll somehow slip through my fingers. And I realized I had so many things I regretted in my life. Now I won't let this one slip away.
A/N: So I finally had my charger fixed. Well I hope this chapter will keep your interest *wink* but since I'm an evil author, I still have things planned for our favorite couple...mehehehehe stay tuned guys...the fun has just begun!
