A/N:Let me remind you that this is not an actual chapter of the story.
Well, today we will some things. Hehe
-SPR are High school students! But Noll, Mai and Gene and some will be the only ones to mostly appear in this chapter.
-Mai is the same age of Noll and Gene (so I can make them classmates)
-Mai grew up in another country.
-She's timid and shy at first.
I actually wrote this a year ago but then I kinda got bored with it. It's supposed to be another story but if you like it I can probably continue it as a new story. But of course I won't publish it right away. Can't juggle with 2 stories much more 3…
Oh and this is also co-written by Naruisawesome! *applause*
Thank you again for being my 200th reviewer! Wohoo~ Thank you everyone for the support!
Naruisawesome: Hey everybody! Hope you enjoy this! It's great! I'm so excited that I'm the 200th review! ^_^ Now to let you read the chapter!
Chapter 20: The Transferee: An Oliver Davis Side-story
Oliver is definitely not enjoying this day.
From the moment he woke up, all the bad things in the world seemed to enjoy his company. He woke up to a horrible music entitled 'Gangnam Style' and was utterly caught in a situation where his brother barged into the room dancing…or more like galloping like a mentally disabled person, his feet sideways and brag about his 'awesome' coordination. And to make matters worse, he cannot help but think about why they look so much alike being twins and all. To be reborn as a girl would probably save him a lot of humiliation right now…or for a lifetime.
During breakfast it took all of his patience to supress the rage of pouring tea all over the new maid's face when he discovered the jasmine tea set in the table and not his usual Earl Grey. Really, even if she was new, she should know what he prefers!
When he got dressed, his twin brother—again—came barging into his room screaming, "The new maid got our underwear mixed up!"
And to his horror, he realized he was wearing his brother's brief and nearly passed out in disgust. The thought itself forced him to take another shower and wear newly sterilized clothes just in case. Who knows where his brother has been!
When he arrived in school, he was swallowed in a crowd of girls who looked like they were dying to touch even just his clothes; it made him shiver and throw a dirty look at anyone within a 5-meter radius of his personal space. On the other hand, his brother was completely engulfed in the horde which might be the only nice thing that happened since he started living this day. Currently, he was at the classroom sitting in his chair by the window and reading Homer's 'Iliad and Odyssey' in Greek. At the same time, he was ignoring the girls who were attempting to start a conversation with him. His brother whose seat is in front of him was happily chatting with their other classmates and was obviously the center of attention; he was grateful when the door slid open, revealing their homeroom teacher marching in and automatically sending 'things' in place.
"Today I would like to introduce a new transfer student. She grew up in New York so she might not understand Japanese yet. Ms Taniyama, you may come in now." On cue a petite brunette with shoulder length brown hair and cinnamon eyes entered the classroom cautiously. "This is Taniyama Mai, she had just moved in Shibuya last Saturday. Now be nice to her. Also, I would like Oliver and Eugene to tour her in the campus and orient her about everything she needs to know. It would also be convenient since you both are fluent in English since you both lived in England. I am confident that you will be able to do such a simple task, right, Davises?" We both nodded despite the inner remonstration of our thoughts. She gestured the girl to sit in the vacant chair beside me. I eyed her movements, in which she eyed me back. I find it weird that it's unlike the looks other girls give when they fall in love at first sight (A/N: Cocky basta** what made you think like that!) but instead she was staring at me as if I was set aside like I was no one special. And in the 16 years of living in this world, NOBODY tosses Oliver Davis aside like some cheap newspaper with a crappy headline!
~Eugene
I eyed the new girl and flashed my trademark smile but to my horror she just ignored me like I was never ever in the background. I, Eugene Davis, the most popular and hottest guy in the campus was thrown away like last year's cat litter! I looked at my brother, Oliver Davis who was practically #1 also since we have the same face. I stiffened when I realized he received a blow similar to mine; his eyes widened by a fraction and his book lay forgotten in his desk. Though he looks cool and composed on the outside, I can hear his pride shattering into millions of pieces.
"Eugene and Oliver, if you still haven't noticed, I'm here already." Our trigonometry teacher, Harizawa-Sensei, called our attention and I noticed everybody was waiting for us to stand and greet the teacher. I smiled and made an apologizing gesture in which she easily gave in. She started discussing about Inverse Trigonometric Relations where every relation has an inverse relation which is formed by interchanging the elements of each ordered pair in the relation. I pretend to copy notes but I was actually drawing her face with freckles and crooked teeth, though I have nothing against her. I was simply bored and I couldn't help it. Besides, Noll and I learned that waaaaaayyyy back when we were five. As I got tired doing my meaningless masterpieces, I carefully opened a pack of Lays in my bag and started munching potato chips. Again, you can't blame me because I have high metabolism and potato chip cravings; plus, I was bored. I glanced at Noll who was reading a book about Albert Einstein's Quantum Mechanics, Statistical mechanics and Cosmology. I rolled my eyes, typical Noll, always the NERD. We may be twins but the only thing common about us is our face. Heck, you would probably find it impossible to recognize one of us if we're both expressionless—which is part of the reason I smile and act more friendly. I mean who wants to be mistaken as an anti-social snob whose too good to make friends with anybody? Besides, I'm the cooler twin! I nodded my head unconsciously in agreement to my previous statement.
"Eugene. I can see you're having your own mental discussion over there, and tell me what is log 97 (978964753147)?" She crossed her arms and waited for my reply. I saw calculators on my classmates' desks and wondered how in the world did Inverse Relationships turn into Logarithm.
"It's 6.538520345 or simply 6.54, S-E-N-S-E-I." I grinned victoriously. She wrinkled her nose in irritation and scowled as a sign of defeat. She was about to say more when God's divine intervention made it possible for the bell to ring before she got to say something. In between classes some of the boys tried to man up and start a conversation with our pretty little transferee. When she didn't even look up, they sent me an SOS signal and I smirked.
"Come on guys, maybe Taniyama-san doesn't understand Japanese." Even though I found it weird for someone with a Japanese name to not understand Japanese disturbing. I dropped the thought for a while and approached her and held out my hand. "Hi, Eugene Davis, pleasure to meet you Mai." I said in my British accent with a matching, charming smile. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw some girls fanning themselves to maintain consciousness while the others are figuratively and literally drooling over my accent. But the girl just looked at my hand and I SWEAR that she looked hesitant to accept my handshake before giving in! I mean NO GIRL thinks twice on me! I bit back a scowl and instead leaned down to her eye level and smirked.
"Aww come on, no need to be shy. We're basically family here RIGHT?" I waited for an enthusiastic response but there was silence. I realized that I was still talking in English and my poor classmates might be having haemorrhages there somewhere. I did a quick translation and they finally shouted in unison…
"YEAH!"
However, Mai only seemed to avoid everyone's gaze and found the hem of her skirt more interesting than any of us. I sighed dejectedly. "You know, why don't we just tour you later after dismissal…"
~Oliver
Playing tour guide was never in my list of "Things to do before I die" so naturally, normal people would run away screaming like crazy when they're stuck with me as their tour guide. But this girl is beyond normal to be able to withstand my silent tour guiding skills. I think she's the type who is used to awkward situations, or maybe she enjoys silent treatments. I mean I'm practically leading her to various rooms, opening the door, pointing to obvious things like shelf, piano, lockers etc., and all she ever does is nod whenever we go on to the next room. Stupid Gene! Leaving me to play Mr. Tour Guide while he runs off since he's one of the regulars of the Tennis Club. I opened the door to the infirmary and showed her the beds and the medicine cabinet. Luckily Ms. Matsuzaki, our school doctor, was there polishing her nails.
"This is Ms. Matsuzaki Ayako, our school doctor." For a moment, she looked shocked and instantly I was intrigued by this reaction.
"Nice to meet you Taniyama-san, feel free to consult me regarding health issues. But if you want advices on love, I am actually quite adept at that also." She winked at her and I saw Mai nod shyly, blushing into different shades of red. When we exited the clinic, I told her that it's Gene's job to tour her for the remaining spots in the campus. I wanted to just walk away like I always do but I couldn't resist looking back and saying,
"You should talk or something, I know you can understand Japanese." I said.
"...you..." She whispered words I couldn't make out.
"What?" She flinched at the sudden tone of my voice.
"Thank you…" She repeated softly. I nodded and walked back to the classroom.
"She's definitely weird…" I mumbled to myself before I opened the door.
