JPOV (Jace POV, whoop whoop!)
"Come on Jace! Let me help you." Clary whined. I sighed and dropped my hands. I had struggled with my tie last ten minutes and she got it right in less than a minute.
"There you go. Now comb your hair." God Clary knew how to be bossy. She walked into our bathroom to finish her make-up.
"Yes, ma'am." I muttered and put on a black suit jacket after combing my hair. "Clary?! Where are my shoes?!"
I heard the clicking from her heals. She took them from our closet and shoved them to me. I took them and did a deep bow and Clary rolled her eyes and went back to her room. I sat on the bed after putting the shoes on and took my phone.
I scrolled down, looking at the photos. I felt a lump in my throat as I saw a picture of me and Jonathan. Jonathan looked so healthy and happy in the picture. Not like last time, really last time. All memories of Max's funeral came again and my heart ached. I remembered Isabelle's tears, Maryse's paled face and Robert's hurt expression. I remembered Alec sitting next to me, squeezing the Bible in his hands. The Lightwoods weren't that religious' but I won't blame them for searching every possible way to ease the pain the death of their son caused. Maryse and Robert made sure they had work enough to keep their minds off of Max. Isabelle was always at the mall and Alec, well, Alec was always at his friend. Back then I didn't know who it was. But I should have known. Magnus. Who else would've it been? And I had Clary. She helped me through it, always told me everything will be alright. She made everything alright. Max had told me to keep Clary in my life, to marry her. And I promised him I would do that.
Clary came from bathroom and sat next to me. She was wearing a simple black dress, black high heels and her red flaming hair was in soft curls. She had only mascara and eyeliner, her green eyes looking sadly at me. I took her hand in mine and she leaned into my shoulder. I played with the ring on her ring finger and kissed her hair.
"You know I love you, right? More than anything." I whispered into her hair. She nodded and looked up.
"Yeah. And I love you. I couldn't do this without you." She whispered back. "But now we have to go."
I nodded and helped her with her coat. It was raining and winding hard and we ran to our car. I helped her into the car and ran to my side. We drove in comforting silence, hand in hand. Clary was looking out of the window and I saw few tears rolling down on her cheek. I rubbed her knuckles and lifted her hand to my lips. She turned her head to look at me and smiled weakly.
"I don't know how I'll be able to do this." Clary said quietly looking at me as if she was looking for answers.
"I'll help you get through this. We'll do this together. I promise."
"I know. Thank you for standing by me." She said and looked out again.
"Anything for you."
I helped Clary out of the car and we ran inside. I saw Alec and Magnus with their 6 months old adopted daughter, Alyssa, talking with the priest. Isabelle and Simon were talking with Clary's parents. I took Clary's hand and we walked to Alec and Magnus. Alyssa was sleeping and Alec smoothed her hair gently. Ali had everyone around her little fingers and everyone adored her. She was always dressed in sparkling clothes, thanks to Magnus and her dark brown curly hair was always brushed into smooth waves. Now she was wearing a black dress with a little sparkle in it. Not a surprise.
"Clary darling you look fabulous!" Magnus said as he kissed Clary's cheeks. Clary blushed, like she always does when someone compliments her.
"Thank you Magnus. Love your vest." She smiled. Magnus had a dark blue dress shirt and a black silk vest. His black pants were surprisingly normal comparing to his normal pants. "What happened to your glittery pants?" Clary continued laughing.
"Oh, Alec happened. He forced me to wear these. But that's okay, I actually like these pants!" Magnus wrapped his arm around Alec's shoulder. Clary smiled a little but then the smile faded as she looked at the coffin. She turned her head away and tried to keep the tears in.
"It's okay, let's go." I whispered and she nodded. I took her away and sat her down on the first bench row.
"Jace I can't do this. I can't do this. I-I ca-can't d-do this-s." Clary had started to breathe heavily. She was hyperventilating.
"Shh, baby. You can do this. It's not easy but you're stronger than you think. Shhh, honey, breathe. Focus on my voice. Now breathe in." She inhaled through her nose. "Good. Now breath out. That's right, good. And then again breathe in and out slowly." I continued talking to her calmly and eventually her breathing was normal again.
The priest began to talk but I focused on Clary. She was really pale, paler than she normally was, and her hands were ice-cold. I rubbed her knuckles with my thumbs and whispered calming words to her. Then it was her turn to talk about her brother. She squeezed my hand one time, then got up. She walked slowly to the stand. She took a few calming breaths and looked up. Her tiny hand was trembling and she squeezed her fists together.
"I… I'm not good with words. At all. So I'm going to sing. I loved my brother more than he would've ever imagine, he was my hero when we were younger. So yeah, this is for him. Jon, I love you." She said before walking to the piano. She sat down and took a deep breath.
Always you will be part of me
And I will forever feel your strength
When I need it most
You're gone now, gone but not forgotten
I can't say this to your face
But I know you hear
I'll see you again
You never really left
I feel you walk beside me
I know I'll see you again
When I'm lost, when I'm missing you like crazy
I tell myself I'm so blessed
To have had you in my life, my life
I'll see you again
You never really left
I feel you walk beside me
I know I'll see you again
When I had the time to tell you
Never thought I'd live to see the day
When the words I should have said
Would come to haunt me
In my darkest hour I tell myself
I'll see you again
I'll see you again
You never really left
I feel you walk beside me
I know I'll see you again
Someday I'll see you again
I'll see you again
You never really left
I feel you walk beside me
I know I'll see you again
I'll see you again
I'll see you again
I miss you like crazy
You're gone but not forgotten
I'll never forget you
Someday I'll see you again
I feel you walk beside me
Never leave you, yeah
Gone but not forgotten
I feel you by my side
No this is not goodbye
No this is not goodbye
No this is not goodbye
Tears were falling down on my cheeks as I looked at the girl I loved the most. I realised how much she meant to me and how I wanted to make her officially mine as soon as possible. She was the one I wanted to have kids with, she was the one I wanted to see my first grey hair. She was the one I wanted to wake up every single morning and fall asleep every night. I saw her breaking down, still sitting on the piano bench. Quickly I got up and rushed to her side. I pulled her up and she buried her head into my neck. I held her tightly as she cried.
"I love you, I love you so much. You have no idea how much I love you." I murmured into her hair as we walked back to our seats.
Jocelyn talked about Jonathan and how he was always the responsible one in their family. How Jonathan had beautiful wife, an amazing daughter and second child on its way. Everyone sat in silence and listened to her words. Then spoke Valentine, an older version of Jonathan and I knew Clary could see it too. She cried silently and put her hand on her mouth. Isabelle sat on my other side and she reached over me for Clary's hand and grabbed it. Clary looked at Isabelle and tried to smile but failed miserably, fresh tears rolling down on her cheeks.
4 hours later Clary and I were sitting on our couch, Clary's feet on my lap and I massaged them gently. She had a big tea cup in her hands and was resting her head against the wall. Her eyes were on me and she just stared.
"What are you thinking?" I asked quietly.
"You." Was her answer.
"Okay." I laughed. "I'd like to get little more information, please." But she just stared at me.
"Hey? Are you still there?" I waved my hand in front her face. Clary just smiled and nodded.
"Okay now you're scaring me. Tell me what's on your mind?"
"I want to marry you. Soon. Today I realised that I want to make you my husband as soon as I can." She said. Now it was my turn to stare.
"Y-you what? Are you serious?" I managed to get out.
"You don't want? Oh, umm.. I mean… W-we don't have to get married now, I uh… I me-" I cut her off by kissing her.
"Shhhhh. I do want to marry you. As soon as I can. But that came kind of out of blue." I kissed her again and put her cup down.
"Good." She said.
6 months later
CPOV
"Hold your breath, Clare. I need to get this closed." Isabelle commanded and I obeyed. "Okay, that's it. Now turn around."
I turned and looked at myself in the mirror. I saw a beautiful young woman, her bright red hair was combed into a low bun and a few curled strands framing her face. Her petite face was flawless and her big green eyes shone. Her make-up was quite simple, like her dress. It was A-line lace dress with a long-ish ( A/N: is that even a word? But I hope you understood what I meant!) train with golden beading.
"You're beautiful." Said Sarah. She closed the door and walked to us, holding my flowers in her hands. She and Isabelle were wearing dark purple floor length sleeveless chiffon dresses. Sarah was 8 months pregnant but the dress was so beautiful on her.
"Thank you Sarah, you too. Where's Tori?" I asked smiling.
"She's with your father. Valentine promised to bring her here in time, don't worry." Sarah smiled "Everything will be alright."
"I know." I said as my father and my niece walked into the room. "There you are Tori! Come to aunt-Clary!" I said and kneeled down.
"Clary, don't! You'll ruin your dress!" Isabelle yelled
"Shut up Iz, my dress is fine." I laughed. "Come here Tori." I said and opened my arms.
"Well, don't come to me when your dress is ruined. Just saying." She said and flipped her hair around her right shoulder and went to get Victoria's flowers. Victoria jumped into my arms and stroked my cheek.
"You look beautiful Aunt-Clary." I smiled to her and put her curly blond hair around her ear.
"Why thank you Tori. You're beautiful too."
My father tapped my shoulder and I turned around, Tori still in my arms. "It's time, sweetheart." I smiled and nodded, placing Tori again on her feet. She ran to her mother and Sarah took her hand, kneeling down to explain once more what Tori's job was. I looked at Isabelle who was busy with her hair.
"Izzy." I said and she looked up from the mirror. "Thank you. I mean it. I wouldn't be here without you."
"Aww, Clare you're welcome. And I see your dress is still in one piece." She joked. "But seriously, I should be thanking you too. For letting me do this for you."
I laughed and turned to my father. "I'm ready." I said and took his offered arm. He was handsome in his tuxedo and his white hair was combed back.
"Are you still sure? I can get a helicopter here in less than a minute!" He laughed and I joined him.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I love Jace with my whole heart."
"I know you do. And I love you. You will always be my little princess. And I know Jonathan's proud of you, wherever he's watching right now." He said smiling down at me.
I really had to struggle to keep tears in. "Dad you make me cry. Stop. " I laughed and waved my hand in front of my face to prevent tears from falling. He just laughed and kissed my hair. Isabelle came like a flash to fix my make-up and then we were ready.
The door was opened and Sarah whispered to Tori to go. My little niece started walking down the aisle dropping rose pedals. Sarah went after her daughter, Isabelle following them. Then the music started and dad nudged me, making sure I was awake. I rolled my eyes at him and he laughed. I smiled too as we walked slowly after my bride maids. I looked for Jace and saw him standing at the altar. He was handsome in his black tuxedo, his gold tie matching with his eyes. His hair was combed into neat waves and he was smiling to me widely. He was breath-taking. Alec stood next to him and smiled to me. He was handsome too in his tuxedo, his dark purple tie matching with my bride maids' dresses. Magnus was sitting on the bench with Alyssa who was dressed in white dress with purple bow. Her dark brown hair was in cute curls and her big brown eyes were watching Tori, as she walked.
I lifted my eyes back to Jace as he began to walk towards us. He bowed to my father as he took my hand that my father offered. I took a tight hold on his sleeve, preventing myself from falling. My feet hurt already in the ridiculously high heels and I had walked at least 30 meters with them already (Note the sarcasm..!).
"These shoes are killing me." I whispered to Jace as we stopped at the altar. Jace laughed soundlessly.
"Why that doesn't surprise me?" He whispered back. "Don't worry; I'll carry you if that's what you wanted." He continued and winked.
Everything went like in a blur and before I knew it, it was my time to read my vow. I took a deep breath and looked into Jace's eyes.
"Today, as I give myself to you, my mind is clear and my commitment is strong. All that I am and all that I have to offer you in love and in joy. Because of you, I laugh, I smile and I dare to dream again.
Today Jace, I join my life to yours. Not merely as your wife, but as your friend, your lover and your confidant. Let me be the shoulder you lean on, the rock on which you rest and the companion of your life.
I consider it as an honour and a privilege to be the one you've chosen as your life's mate. I promise to be a true and faithful wife. To love, respect and be honest with you always. I promise to be supportive of your goals and as you grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. I will never be afraid to confide in you. I promise to be a good listener and a safe confidant. You are always safe and welcome in my innermost world. I promise to share my goals and ideas with you. As we grow together throughout our relationship, there are no limitations on the possibilities of our relationship.
Jace, I believe in you and I will always be here for you. Now, always and forever."
"Damn you Clarissa." Jace laughed quietly as he wiped away his tears. He really was crying. I smirked at him as I put his ring on his finger.
"I love you and I meant every word I said." I whispered to him. He looked into my eyes and said:
"Clary,
As I stand here before you, my eyes looking so deeply into yours, I see all of the things I fell in love with.
As I stand here before you, my heart beating so loudly in my ears, I find myself so lost for the right words to say.
As I stand here before you, this ring in my hand, it makes me remember how complete you make my life.
With every smile, every embrace, every word you say.
It makes me remember how blessed I really am to have you in my life.
It makes me remember every laugh we've ever shared, every hard time we made it through together, and every beautiful moment there is to come.
Clary, I give you this ring, my heart, my soul. I give you the everything I am today as I stand before you.
I promise to love you, protect you, be with you forever, and cherish every moment as if it were the last moment on earth.
Clary, I love you. With this ring, let it be known, that over every other person in the world I could be with, I chose you. Let it be known, that with this ring, I'm promising to be here for you for all eternity, 'til death do us part."
"Damn you Herondale." I laughed through my tears. " I thought I was good."
"I love you so much, Clarissa." He said and wiped my tears away.
"As I love you." We turned back to the priest and he pronounced us husband and wife.
"You're mine now. And I'm notletting you go any time soon!" Jace announced happily before he kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.
"Get a room!" Someone yelled and we pulled apart. I looked laughing at the crowd and saw Magnus smirking. Of course it was him. Jace laughed too and pulled me to his side.
"Clarissa Herondale.. Hmmm… I like how it sounds." I said to Jace as we walked away from the altar.
"Oh you have no idea how much I like it. It proves that you're mine now." He said winking.
Isabelle and Sarah helped me into the car and got in as well. Our driver drove us to an old barn where our reception was. We hugged our friends and relatives as they came to congratulate us. Then we cut the cake and fed each other. I never loosened my hold on Jace's hand, not even when some of my California-friends came to congratulate us. It was kind of awkward to hold Jace's hand as I hugged someone else but I didn't want to let go. Who knew if it all was just a dream? I didn't want to take any risks. When it was time to dance out first dance as husband and wife, Jace pulled me from my seat to the middle of the room where he took me in his arms. The band began to play our song, even though it definitely wasn't a traditional wedding song, or even a slow dance song. But then again; neither were we. We were nothing like other couples.
If the heart is always searching,
Can you ever find a home?
I've been looking for that someone,
I'll never make it on my own
Dreams can't take the place of loving you,
There's gotta be a million reasons why it's true.
When you look me in the eyes,
And tell me that you love me.
Everything's alright,
When you're right here by my side.
When you look me in the eyes,
I catch a glimpse of heaven.
I find my paradise,
When you look me in the eyes.
We swayed slowly from side to side and Jace lowered his head down to my ear and sang along. Then he lifted his head back up to look me in the eyes. Then he sang along again.
How long will I be waiting
To be with you again?
Gonna tell you that I love you,
In the best way that I can.
I can't take a day without you here,
You're the light that makes my darkness disappear.
When you look me in the eyes,
And tell me that you love me.
Everything's alright,
When you're right here by my side.
When you look me in the eyes,
I catch a glimpse of heaven.
I find my paradise,
When you look me in the eyes.
More and more I start to realize,
I can reach my tomorrow,
I can hold my head up high,
And it's all because you're by my side.
When you look me in the eyes,
And tell me that you love me.
Everything's alright,
When you're right here by my side.
When I hold you in my arms,
I know that it's forever.
I just gotta let you know,
I never wanna let you go.
When you look me in the eyes.
And tell me that you love me.
Everything's alright,
When you're right here by my side.
When you look me in the eyes,
I catch a glimpse of heaven.
I find my paradise,
When you look me in the eyes.
Oh.
"I love you so much. I don't know how many times I've said it already but I don't care." I whispered to him.
"I love you too." he said and kissed my hair. "Are you ready to leave?" I nodded. Jace took my hand and guided me to our friends and family. We said our good-nights and Jace and I left the party.
He helped me out of the taxi and carried me to our suite. He had decorated it beautifully, very un-Jace-likely (I bet that's not a word either!). There were blood red rose pedals everywhere, clod champagne and strawberries waiting for us.
"Oh Jace, this is so beautiful. You did this?" I asked looking around. He kept quiet and waited for me to look at him. Eventually I did. I saw the love and affection in his amber eyes and it was almost too much for me.
" I still can't believe I married the man of my life, my saviour." I said as I slowly walked to him. He was still silent as he pulled all the bobby pins from my hair and let it hang free against my shoulders and back.
"I can believe I married to most important person in my life, the one who makes me want to wake up every morning and who is the reason I am who I am." He said as he opened my dress and let it fall down before placing kisses on my neck, slowly making his way down to my collarbone.
Finally it came to me as well. I've married the love of my life. I got My Pianoman.
THE END
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING! So yeah. This is it. I made it. I knew thought I would get this done but I did!
