"Thanks again Dr Miller!" Blaine called back over his shoulder as he limped out the ward.
"That's ok Blaine, see you in a few weeks to see how that arm's doing – look after it and it should heal pretty quickly."
"O.k. Dr, I'll look after it and in the meantime it's going to be an absolute pain in the a-"
"Yes it will be I'm afraid." Dr Miller laughed. He and Blaine exchanged a final wave before he turned and walked off down the corridor, undoubtedly heading straight for another patient, doctors always worked so hard. Blaine took a bit longer to travel down his section of the corridor. It was his knee that was giving him trouble, there was nothing seriously wrong with it, it was just a bit battered. Then every time he got to the door it was a whole other challenge! The hospital double doors were heavy and swung shut fast and with only one arm available to use, Blaine found himself getting squashed often. By the time he got to his forth door he was getting really tired and he could feel his shoulder start to bruise, so he was glad when a passer-by saw that he was having trouble and helped him out by holding open the door.
Kurt waited for Blaine to realise it was him. After Blaine has limped through the doorway, he looked up. His face had mostly survived the crash, apart from a stitched up cut along the top of his head. His arm was in a sling and Kurt could also see it was in plaster too. He was heavily limping, but what was wrong Kurt was not sure. His non-broken arm was covered in greenish bruises and little cuts. Blaine's lips had already started to thank him before he realised who he was talking to.
"Tha – oh, it's you." He said quite simply. He wasn't angry or sad or annoyed or happy, he was just emotionless and that hurt Kurt so much more. Blaine had always had some emotion whenever he saw him, whether it was happiness or love or anger or sadness, Kurt was sad that he no longer had any impact on Blaine's feelings, he remembered when he used to make his day.
"Um, yep it's me… Tina told me what happened and I was just coming to… visit." Blaine had been in hospital for three days now; Kurt had no idea that he was going to leave today. He felt really awkward now. This was stupid he never should have come.
"Well, as you can see I'm leaving now so I must be fine. Goodbye." And with that Blaine turned away from Kurt and started to limp away. But Kurt was not having it.
"Oh no you don't," he said, stepping in front of Blaine, "I flew in from New York to visit you; I am at least getting a conversation, even if it's small talk."
"Well I think you lost the right to talk to me a long time ago Kurt." He tried to step around Kurt, but it was fruitless, Kurt wanted to talk and there was obviously no way he could outrun him on a knee like this.
"Fine. The weather's good today isn't it?" Blaine mocked Kurt's earlier comment on small talk.
"All I want to know is how you are!" Kurt said exasperatedly, Blaine was acting like a five year old.
"Fine. I have thirteen stiches in total, I had minor concussion, my knee is killing me, I'm covered in bruises, my arm is broken and my heart is shattered." And this time Kurt let Blaine limp away. He didn't know what he had expected by coming back here. He realised that he still loved Blaine, he realised that three days ago. But he didn't know what he was doing. He was just making everything worse; he didn't even know what he wanted. He hadn't thought this through; he should never have come back. Did he want Blaine back? Yes. Then why was he coming back when he's still got a boyfriend back in New York? What good would that do? He was going to have to break up with Adam. He had to be a gentleman though, he owed Adam that. Adam had never been anything but kind and loving to Kurt and Kurt had cheated and lied and manipulated him. The one thing he deserved that Kurt could give him now, was the truth.
Sorry it's so short but I am going to update both my stories today for the first time in weeks - so I am improving and finding more time! This Friday I break up for summer so the week after that you will have a lovely long chapter again! Promise! :)
