I had the sense that I'd been asleep for a very long time my body was stiff, like I hadn't moved once through all that time, either.
I was irritated. Why? I have spent hours trying to figure out a way to explain to Dad why I up and left. I couldn't tell him that I had to stop Edward from committing suicide in Italy because he thought I was dead, then I would have to explain why Edward would think I was dead and it was just to much.
As my mind became more alert, I tried to focus. I couldn't remember what day of the week it was, but I was sure Jacob or school or work or something was waiting for me. I inhaled deeply, wondering how to face another day.
Then something cold touched my forehead with the softest pressure.
I squeezed my eyes more tightly shut now that I knew he was here.
I groaned. I opened my eyes again and Edward was still there, his face just inches away from mine.
"Did I frighten you?" His low voice was anxious.
He watched my changing expressions, with alarm. His irises were pitch-black, with bruise-like shadows under them.
"No." I sighed, a bit angry.
He rolled his eyes. "Maybe you should go back to sleep. You're not coherent." He thought my angry sigh was from waking up.
"I'm not tired anymore." I sat up. "What time is it? How long have I been sleeping?"
"It's just after one in the morning. So, about fourteen hours."
I stretched as he spoke. I was so stiff.
"Dad?" I asked.
Edward frowned. "Sleeping. You should probably know that I'm breaking the rules right now. Well, not technically, since he said I was never to walk through his door again, and I came in the window... But, still, the intent was clear."
"Dad banned you from the house?" I asked, disbelief quickly melting into fury. Why would he come here if he was banned?
His eyes were sad. "Did you expect anything else?"
"What's the story?" I asked, genuinely curious, but also trying desperately to keep the conversation casual, to keep myself from flipping out on Edward and waking up Dad.
"What do you mean?"
"What am I telling Dad? What's my excuse for disappearing for... how long was I gone, anyway?" I tried to count the hours in my head.
"Just three days." His eyes tightened, but he smiled more naturally this time. "Actually, I was hoping you might have a good explanation. I've got nothing."
I groaned. "Fabulous."
"Well, maybe Alice will come up with something," he offered, trying to comfort me.
"Edward, we need to talk." I looked at him.
He phone chirped. I whipped my hand out to keep him answering. "I'd prefer that you hear this from me."
"We can't be together anymore, Edward." I told him, ripping off the band-aid in one quick movement.
"What." He scoff. "Of course we can."
I shook my head. I realize while in my depression I had become too attach to Edward and the Cullens and that was not healthy.
"No Edward. You and me are too attach to eachother. I was depressed while you tried to committed suicide because you thought I was dead. When couples break up they aren't hung up on eachother because they move on. When one finds out the other is dead they don't go commit suicide, they morn and move on. That's the opposite of what we did." I sighed and removed myself from the bed. "We both have to move on."
"No Bella, we both love eachother. You were born for me. You are mine."
I was pissed.
"First Edward, I don't belong to anybody. Second, I don't love you anymore. I love you, but just not in that way. Now can you please leave."
He started growling I got my shield ready just in case he pounced.
Then a knock sounded at the door. "Bella?" Edward was gone when the door opened.
Dad poked his around the door. "Are you okay?" He asked. He knew Edward had been here.
"Yeah, just..." I couldn't think of a word to describe what i was feeling.
"I'm sorry." I told him. He seemed to understand what I was talking about because he face turned red.
"Don't you have any idea how worried?" I flinched because he didn't sound angry, just broken.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't let him do it." Before I slapped my hand against my mouth, wishing that I could sew it shut.
He looked at me suspiciously. "Bella." He said in a you-better-tell-me kind of way.
I sighed and motioned for him to sit.
"Before I left I went cliff-diving-"
He leaped up. "WHAT! HOW COULD YOU-"
I got up and tackled him to the bed. "DAD CALM DOWN." I lowered my voice. "I'm fine, right here."
We sat up and I finished what I was saying. "I went cliff-diving and Alice saw. She was on the cliff behind me but I didn't hear her. She thought that I was.. ahem that I was dead. She called the Cullens house and Rosalie picked up and she told Rosalie that I was gone.
"And Rosalie called Edward and told him. Then he went Brazil to so he could join me. Alice waited here, at the house so she tell you but was shock when she saw me and Jake come through the door.
"She told me that she thought i was dead and that she had already told the Cullens about my death. When got a text saying that 'Edward left and is going to join Bella' from Emmett. Then we just left to stop him from doing it." I finished my story.
It was quiet for a while, when Dad pulled me closed and hugged me. "I just glad you're alright. Jake just said you left with her. No telling where you were going."
"I sorry to make you worry, Dad."
A series of beeps rang through the room. It my watch. I looked at it, pushing the button on the side letting the mini screen show me my next location 'New York City 8'. I sighed.
"Where and how many?"
"New York City and 8 kids." He whistled. It was my job and I loved doing it but I was stressed.
"Maybe this is what you need. Go and come back relaxed."
"Kay, Dad." I got up and started packing after sending a message saying I accept the job.
6 Hours Later
Someone knocked at the door just after I finished the dishes from breakfast. I opened the door and saw a man with blueish green eyes and brown hair. He looked like he didn't smile a lot.
"Isabella Swan?" He asked.
I nodded. "Mr.?"
"Phil Coulson. I'm hear to escort you to New York."
I nodded again and let him come in. He grabbed my bags and took them to the car.
I grabbed my coat and locked the door seeing as dad was at the station. I got in the car. There was another driver in the car as well, he had brown eyes and brown hair, but he looked liked he didn't smile much.
"Can we stop by Forks High. please?" I asked. I needed to get my work forwarded to my email.
"Yes, Miss Swan."
When we pulled up at the school it was loud but then it got quiet as I got out of the car then loud again with people running up the car. Mr. Coulson pushed them back and guided me to the main office.
"Sorry about that Mr. Coulson." I apologized.
He nodded and waited by the door. I walked up to Mrs. Cope's desk.
"Morning Mrs. Cope."
"Morning Bella," she handed me an envelope, "here are the emails that you need to stay in contact with your teachers and their numbers if you have any questions."
"Thank you Mrs. Cope."
"Your welcome, dear. Get better soon, okay."
I nodded and went to locker with Mr. Coulson behind me. Then I got ready to face the swarm of gossipy teenagers.
"Bella, I heard that you..."
"Bella, that hot Indian guy said..."
I whistled very sharply. I took a deep breath. "Guys I'm taking a time away in Brazil with to take care of my aunt for a little while. Bye." By then I was already in the car with Mr. Coulson driving off.
