I was hoping that I could post on January 1st but I had a small author's block. I got thousands of new ideas for other stories. When I'm done with this story (which hopefully is only a few more chapters) I will write a KokoXMikan story. Please check it outtt! Hope you guys like this new chapter!
Natsume stood frozen at the doorway of Mikan's hospital room.
His forehead was creased and in his arms were a bundle of roses.
No one disturbed him as they walked by, seeing that he was thinking deeply.
Natsume didn't even blink as he kept quarreling with himself.
Just knock.
She might have heard the fight with me and Teru.
Who cares, just explain.
She won't believe me.
He sighed for the millionth time in 5 minutes.
He ran his hand in his silky raven hair and made it the messiest it has ever've been.
Taking a deep breath, heart pounding and desperately trying to keep his face calm, he knocked on her door.
A cheery voice answered immediately, making his heart beat a thousand times faster.
"Come in!"
Natsume slowly and carefully opened the door and peeked inside.
Mikan widened her eyes at the sight of him and he was sure her smile wavered.
Mikan quickly smiled again and greeted him cheerfully.
"Hi Natsume! I didn't see you just now when the class came. Were you busy?" Mikan asked sweetly, cocking her head to on side in that cute way that she does.
Oh about that, I was hiding.
"Yeah. I was talking to Narumi about a test." Natsume lied easily and calmly, when he was actually freaking out.
Did she see through me?
"Are those for me?" Mikan asked, her eyes looking at the roses in his arms.
Natsume nodded and walked over to where a flower pot was.
There was an awkward silence as Natsume sat next to the bed.
The silence was killing him. He stared intently at her waiting for her to say something, but she just looked down at her hands.
Silence is definitely not something Mikan Sakura does.
After a few more minutes of silence, Natsume finally cleared his throat.
"Seeing that you're more conscious around me right now and not talking your head off, I can assume you heard our argument." Natsume started, concentrating his crimson orbs on her.
Mikan nodded her head slowly, still watching her hands.
Natsume sighed. He knew it.
"Mikan, I can expla—"
"Let's break up." Mikan cut him off with her soft whisper.
Natsume's eyes widened and looked at her unbelievably.
Mikan sneaked a peek at him but quickly regretted that.
His usual cold crimson eyes now showed pain.
She quickly looked away, her eyes brimmed with tears.
"What?" Natsume asked incredulously, feeling more pain than he ever did in his life.
"Let's break up." She repeated, giving his heart another painful stab.
"Why!? Mikan, please, I love you. I can—"
"Natsume, I'm sorry." Mikan whispered again, tears falling.
"It's not your fault, really. I know I'm not a good girlfriend, I'm not good enough for you." Mikan started, tears falling uncontrollably.
"When you told me you loved me, it was like a dream come true. I wanted to be a good girlfriend. Natsume, I really tried, but I know I'm clumsy and stupid and naive." Mikan looked him straight in the eye, tears still falling.
"That's why, I should feel happy, now that you found a girl that's worth it." Mikan finished, her tears seemed never ending as it continued to stain her rosy cheeks, but even so, she forced out a smile.
What hurt him most was that, the smile was genuine.
She actually meant what she said.
He looked down, covering his eyes with his silky raven hair.
"No." Natsume hissed.
"Natsu—"
"NO." Natsume said louder, his voice strong.
Mikan was taken aback from his reaction. She thought he would hug her and thank her for giving him happiness.
For setting him free.
Natsume gripped her hand tightly, making her flinch from the pressure.
"We are not breaking up. You. Are. Mine. I will do anything to keep it that way." He hissed at her, crimson eyes now became a dark maroon color.
Mikan shivered as he looked at his eyes, her face showed fear.
Seeing this, his face became softer, and his eyes became tender.
He wiped her tears with his finger and then tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I admit you're clumsy, stupid and unbelievably naive. You don't get anything and always find me and other people to help tutor you. You're so stubborn and annoying that sometimes I really wonder why I fell for you." Natsume said, smiling at her.
Mikan chuckled a little even though her tears were still falling.
"But you're a wonderful girlfriend in a way that only I know. You're everything I need. No one is more worth it than you, okay? Get that in your head." Natsume said, tapping her head lightly making her giggle.
He hugged her tight and then whispered.
"Please don't leave me."
"Welcome back!" Confetti and balloons flew everywhere.
Mikan laughed as she walked into the classroom after 3 weeks of being stuck in the hospital.
She had insisted that she was ok and she could check out of the hospital, but her doctor strictly ordered her to stay put until she is completely healed.
"The whole class is happy you're back." Narumi said, smiling his warm smile.
He was wearing a decent brown suit, the one he wears to important events.
"We all missed you." Yuu came up and gave her a big hug.
Tears were threatening to fall as Mikan hugged him back.
Two violins started playing and to her surprise it was Sumire and Akemi who were playing.
"I improved, didn't I." Sumire said cockily after they played their song.
*Cough* "Not really." *cough* Koko feigned coughing, making everyone around them snicker.
"Actually, Permy...I haven't heard you play before." Mikan said, patting Sumire on the back.
"Ugh It's not like I play for anyone." Sumire announced, swaying her hair back.
"You played for me? Aww that's so sweet!" Mikan squealed as she jumped on Sumire, choking her in the process.
"Uh, Mikan...I think you should get off her..." Yuu said as he sweat dropped.
Realizing she was chocking Sumire, Mikan quickly jumped off her.
"I-I'm sorry...hehe..." Mikan said as she rubbed her head in apology.
"Mikan-chan, I'm glad you're ok." Akemi said with a friendly smile.
Seeing Mikan and Akemi talk made Natsume uncomfortable.
He gave a silent curse and then made his way towards them.
"Thanks." Mikan said as she forced out a smile.
Natsume kept his distance, scared that if he interrupted it would turn worse.
Mikan saw him from the corners of her eyes and smiled.
"Sorry, gotta go." She smiled and then waved good-bye.
She skipped over to where Natsume was casually leaning on the wall.
"Chill-lax." Mikan whispered to him and then giggled a little.
Akemi pursed her lips as she looked at them.
An arm swung around her shoulders in a casual hug.
"Onii-channn!" Akemi whined slightly as she watched the couple laugh and talk.
"I know Aki. I'll fix everything, okay?" He said soothingly.
Akemi held back tears but felt a little better hearing her brother use her nickname she had back when she was a child.
She nodded a little and hugged her brother back.
Hotaru looked at the couple with disapproval.
Getting her Baka Gun ready, she walked up to them calmly.
BAKA!
Natsume evaded the attack easily and glared at Hotaru.
"The hell?" Natsume growled at her.
"Mou, Hotaru!" Mikan whined as she hugged her best friend.
"Don't be mean to Natsume! He didn't do anything wrong!" She continued, still clinging onto Hotaru.
"Didn't do anything wrong? Mikan did you hit your head or did you lose your mind?" Hotaru screeched.
Natsume pulled her to the side and whispered dangerously to her.
"Listen Imai, I know I was wrong and I will do anything to gain her trust again. I love her and you can't change that. I will compensate what I did wrong."
Hotaru glared at him, her violet eyes were cold enough to freeze hell itself.
"I'll make sure you don't do anything that will hurt her again. If you do, I'll personally make sure you end up dead." She hissed and then stomped off.
"What happened? Hotaru looks really angry." Mikan whispered when her boyfriend came back.
"It was nothing. Just a little disagreement." Natsume answered flatly and he left it like that.
Mikan nodded mechanically at him and wobbled after him as he went to his friends.
"So...You guys are ok now?" Ruka asked with a tone of playfulness.
Natsume smirked a little and nodded at him.
"I'm hungry!" Mikan suddenly bursted as she shook Natsume's arm uncontrollably.
"Natsume can we pwease go and buy Howalons?" Mikan begged with her puppy dog eyes.
Natsume sighed and Mikan dragged him away.
"Mikan!"
Mikan whipped around to see who called her.
Her eyes instantly lit up when she saw the familiar box of Howalons.
"I bought extra, you can have it." Teru smiled sweetly at her.
"Really!? You're amazing!" She squealed and then hugged him out of joy.
Natsume hissed venomously at him and grabbed her arm so that she would crash against his chest.
Mikan looked up at him questionably only to find Teru and Natsume glaring at each other murderously.
The room temperature suddenly went up several degrees.
No one dared to talk and break the awkward silence, not even Mikan.
After a couple of minutes, Natsume dragged Mikan out.
The temperature went back to normal.
"Uh...so...anyone wanna play poker?" Koko and Kitsu asked, forcing a smile.
The class agreed and so everyone went back to normal.
"You do your jobs well." Hotaru whispered to them.
"Job? What job?" Kitsu asked confusedly and stared at Koko.
"Our job is to break the awkwardness of the class." Koko said, shrugging.
"Oh..."
"You can count on us!" They saluted and then high-fived each other.
"Mou Natsume! Hey! W-wait!" Mikan yelled as he continued to drag her.
"Natsume! You're hurting me!" Mikan shrieked.
When Natsume finally stopped at their favorite Sakura tree, Mikan wiggled her hand free and examined the new bruise with a pout.
"Honestly, he's not that bad." Mikan sighed, caressing her wrist.
"Not that bad? That guy is evil. How is it that you heard all the bad things I've done and not the bad things he's done?" Natsume roared.
Mikan flinched from his sudden outburst.
"I know what he's done. He was being mean to you and trying to make you admit you like Akemi-chan so we would break up. I know how he feels about me." Mikan uttered.
"If you know then why are you still so nice to him? Why can't you just be clear and tell him you don't like him?" Natsume buried his face in his hands from exasperation.
"Well...we could still be friends..." She trailed off as a few students came wandering by.
"Hey, have you heard?" One of them asked.
"Heard what?"
"Natsume Hyuuga was kissing that new girl. What was her name again?"
"You mean Akemi Ikeda?"
"Yeah her!"
"They were kissing? No way! Are you sure?"
"Positive! It's all over the school papers and they even got a photo of them!"
Mikan's eyes widened. Natsume was at the verge of burning them into ashes.
"Mik—" He couldn't finish as Mikan bolted away.
Natsume cursed and then raced after her.
"Please give me a copy of the school paper." Mikan said calmly to the person that was passing out the papers.
"Sure." Mikan snatched the paper and on the very front page was what she was looking for.

"Mikan—"
Everyone fell silent.
Maybe it was because Mikan was crying but made no sound.
Or maybe it was because the innocent and kind Mikan Sakura has just slapped The Natsume Hyuuga hard on the face.
"Natsume Hyuuga." Mikan started with an ice cold voice.
"You lied." With that she slapped him again and walked off leaving him heart broken and guilty.
