Trigger Warning: Mention of abuse
Dani's POV
I was on an airplane headed to Seattle to move in with my Dad and his girlfriend, Meredith.
Living with my mom had become unbearable. She blamed me for Dad leaving and her drinking had gotten worse. A few nights ago, she hit me repeatedly. It wasn't the first time, but I knew I couldn't stay with her any longer. (A/N: I know Addison wouldn't do this, but imagination.)
Dad bought me a plane ticket to Seattle as soon as I called him crying.
After almost five hours, I landed in Seattle. Dad and Meredith were waiting for me.
"Hi, Dad." I said as I hugged him.
"I'm so glad you're here." Dad said, holding me tightly.
"Okay, a little too tight." I laughed.
Dad let me go and I looked at Meredith, giving her a small smile and wave. We had only met through FaceTime calls, so it was our first time meeting in person.
Dad, Meredith, and I made our way out of the airport and to the car. Dad put my suitcase in the trunk while I climbed into the backseat.
We eventually arrived at the house, which I was happy about.
"Just to warn you, we also live with two of my roommates." Meredith said as we got out of the car.
"Okay." I replied.
Dad grabbed my suitcase from the trunk. We entered the house, and I smelled someone obviously baking.
"Mer, is that you?!" A female voice shouted.
"Yes!" Meredith replied, making her way to the kitchen, and she had me go with her.
"I made muffins." A pretty blonde woman said, smiling. "Who's this?"
"This is Derek's daughter, Danielle." Meredith replied.
"C-Call me Dani.. please." I begged, not wanting to be called by my full name. Mom always used my full name, and I wanted to leave that behind me, or at least try to.
"Of course." Meredith gave me a reassuring smile, realizing how nervous I probably looked.
"Well, I'm Izzie." The girl named Izzie said, smiling. "Izzie Stevens. Want a muffin?" She asked.
"Uh.. sure." I answered.
Izzie handed me a muffin, and I quietly thanked her.
"I'll show you to your room." Meredith told me once I finished eating the muffin that Izzie gave me.
"It looks nice. Thank you." I thanked Meredith as she showed me the room I would be staying in.
"This used to be George's room, but he decided to turn the attic into his bedroom." Meredith replied.
"I feel bad for taking his room." I spoke quietly, feeling guilty.
"Don't worry about it. We're all glad you're here." Meredith reassured me, putting her hand on my shoulder which caused me to flinch.
Meredith quickly removed her hand from my shoulder and apologized, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to overstep."
"It's okay." I reassured Meredith. "I'm just not used to people touching me."
"I understand." Meredith said. "I'll leave you to unpack. But if you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out."
"Thanks.." I responded, feeling grateful for her kindness.
After finishing unpacking, I lay in my bed, ignoring the messages from my mom. I hadn't told her I was coming to Seattle to live with Dad and Meredith because I knew she wouldn't approve. My phone buzzed again, but I didn't want to deal with her right now.
Dad knocked on my door and entered my room. "What's up?" He asked.
"I'm just being lazy." I admitted. "Mom keeps messaging me."
"What is your mom saying?" Dad asked, concerned, as he picked up my phone.
"I didn't tell her I was coming here." I explained. "She keeps texting me, asking when I'm coming back."
"I'll talk to her." Dad promised, handing me back my phone.
"I'm sorry." I said quietly.
"What for?" Dad asked.
"I don't know.. for everything." I shrugged.
"You don't have to be sorry for anything." Dad reassured me. "Try to get some sleep, okay?"
"Okay." I said, feeling a little better after our conversation.
"Goodnight." Dad said, giving me a hug before leaving the room.
A/N: Sorry if this isn't good
