Officer Dave's finger twitched. A shot. Missed. 'Oh, my Lord..., oh no, no, no, no... That was stupid, just stupid!' Dave already regretted his decision as the mountain of muscles turned his head to face his attacker.
"Aren't you out of your league?" The tall giant grinned at the puny Officer along the street before him.
Dave gulped, "F-f-f-freeze... or we'll- we'll o-open fire!" and raised his GCPD badge. 'I'm not getting paid enough at all for THIS CRAP!' His partner equally shivered in fear, unable to move. 'He is huge! How are we supposed to stop him?! Why did we have to take that call... Fuck, but all those people. To serve and protect... How am I to protect anyone against some humongous blob of muscles in this hellhole of a city?!' Sweat dripped down the Officer's forehead as he emptied his magazine. Dave could barely take his eyes off Bane; that guy simply kept walking as most bullets simply sprang off him like bouncy balls. That menace made his way over, stopping at nothing, not even flinching. 'What the heck is that guy made of?!' As Dave felt the clip emptied out and only the clicking noise from the trigger resounded, the ground vibrated beneath his feet. Like a walking earthquake, Bane stomped through the street, laughing in amusement. People on the sidewalks were still running from the scene, screaming. Nobody stopped for help—of course, they wouldn't, that would be suicidal. They ran! While others ducked for cover in the stores or froze in fear, just like Dave as he watched Bane single-handedly pick up the squad car, his biceps twitching only slightly. This wasn't even hard for him, not at all. Bane tossed the car behind him. 'Oh, crap!' Dave made a deep dive roll as the car missed him by a hair. The alarm went off as it crashed onto the asphalt. The noise of scratching metal on stone, sparks flew. The car alarm died down like a dying deer on its last breath as the car set on fire and an explosion went off. The shockwave set off more car alarms—a howling symphony joined by fire and smoke for the coming execution.
"St-st-stop, o-or or I will-" Dave's words got stuck in his throat. 'What exactly can I even do here!? Screw this!'
Unimpressed by the threats of the Officer, Bane charged at the Officer with lightning speed, now that the way was clear, and threw him off his feet by the tremors alone. He pinched Dave's pistol barrel. "Or what? Shoot me? You should've brought a bigger gun... Ooooh, don't tell me, you're a courageous one, think Bats will save you in time?" In the blink of an eye, he had grabbed the tip of Dave's gun. Metal screeched as it bent upwards, and Bane yanked the gun along with him.
It took Officer Dave a moment to realize he dangled from his own gun. 'Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!' His partner ran for the hills, screaming in fear. He was already halfway through the alley. 'Seriously!?' In disbelief, the Officer looked back at Bane, and the giant grinned at him face to face like a reaper. Doom upon Dave, he quickly let go of his sidearm and dropped to the floor, crawling backwards, trying to distance himself. The people on the sidewalks didn't fare any better. Hands up in the air to protect their faces, as still-burning oil from the squad car flew. Children cry at the hands of their mothers, dragging them to safety. A biting stench in the air from the smoke and dust. Dave's hands were sweating wet. 'I'm dead...'
"Seems that you are outgunned, amigo," Bane cracked his neck as he completely flattened the gun to a pancake between his hands and tossed it like a Frisbee into the next window. Screams of surprise and terror from the people still inside the café. More ran out—they ran like their lives depended on it. Probably did.
"Whoa, shit!" a young girl, hardly a teen, cursed, as she just barely had ducked away in her hastened escape from the Frisbee. Pale white, she turned her head toward Bane and Dave.
Dave got grabbed by his collar. There was no way out. He clawed into the wrist and arm of the giant. Kicking and swinging his feet, but they hit Bane's muscles as if it was stainless steel. Bane didn't care whatsoever, was amused even by the futile struggles, chuckled, and hurled Dave. "DON'T STOP; RUN!" Dave called out mid-flight, too late. He crashed into the girl and with her through the window. Shattering glass, pure chaos erupted in the café—people stormed out and jumped through the other windows. Anything was better than to face off with that walking death herald.
"Ouch..." The girl struggled to get up again, her eyes wandering across the floor, disoriented, Traces of shattered glass left their mark on her arms and hands. Somehow, she scrambled to the side and ducked away behind another table as the tremors came closer once more.
'Batman would be great to show up right about now... PLEASE...' Dave looked over his shoulder as the shadow grew and jumped to his feet. Panicked, he searched his belt for something, anything! 'No... no...' Wide-eyed, Dave stared at the supervillain and jumped to his feet. Adrenaline rushed through his veins, his heartbeat pounding in his head, he backed away and away and away... his heels hit the counter of the café. Afraid, he raised his arms as Bane reached out. 'It's all over now! Should have taken the job in Star City!' His feet shook so much that he was about to hit the floor again.
WHAM! A shadow of black swooshed in and kicked the giant in the head, who tumbled sideways and crashed through the furniture, breaking under Bane's pure weight. "Only bullies pick on the small guys." Batman!
'I'm saved...' relieved Officer Dave sighed. A cold glance from the Bat to get the fuck out of there. How could one MAN spark so much hope in him? Dave, inspired, got a grip again. "Come on, people. Move, move!" He waved hurriedly, and the last people in the café used their chance as stuff began to fly as the two legends fought each other. About to nod to Batman for thanks, the two adversaries went at each other's throats. 'Yikes! Maybe later! Time to get the hell outta here! Wait, where is—!' Dave turned to leave but in the corner of his eye he spotted the girl. 'Fuck! The girl!' He watched her crawl on all fours as all hell broke loose around her. Plates, batarangs, wood, cups, cakes, spilled coffee. Those two powerhouses kept going like a tornado. They stumbled through the room. "KID, MOVE!" Dave shouted and waved toward the door. 'Come on! We gotta get out of here—' He felt the ground vibrate as the dark yet shiny metal robot suit charged through the wall to his left into the café as well, and it rammed Bane into the wall like a bull. A grunt of pain from the supervillain.
Enraged, the fighter's roar filled the air as he launched himself off the wall, shattering it and hurling the robot backwards and grabbing the next-best table to throw after Batman.
"GO!" Batman, in disbelief, glared over his shoulder at the officer, only now noticing the child the officer was trying to save.
"WATCH OUT!" Officer Dave called out as he pointed at the flying table. 'Shit, if Bat—' It was magnificent—one smooth move, a press-up over the table. One would think it would hit the Dark Knight, yet his nose passed by the table surface, and he landed slick as a cat on his legs. 'Wow...' was the only thing that came to the mind of Dave. The table crashed against the wall a good part away from the girl's head and splintered. The girl shrieked and ducked for cover yet a gain scrambling along the floor. Electricity zapped. Sparks, shouts, and screams of pain and anger. Dave's head shot around and Batman had drawn his teaser to stun Bane before he could activate the drug infusion as he suddenly got bumped in the side. The girl ran straight past him, heels in her hands. 'Finally! She took FOREVER!" The girl dashed away and didn't stop. 'Time to get the hell out of here! Thanks, Bats!'
