Small

Molly walks to school like she normally does. A smile on her face, ready to take on the day. She's excited but overwhelmed, slowly starting to get lost in her thoughts as she looks up at the bright blue sky above her.

Today's going to be a good day, I can feel the joyful energy around me! I haven't slept in a few days which really messes with my head, but I'll be okay. It was for something really important. I just hope my family sees it that way when I tell them. They've been worried about me since the whole Sunnyland incident when I passed out from exhaustion…That's in the past though, I'm fine now! Time to move forward with a positive attitude!

Molly snaps out of it when she sees Libby waiting for her by the school entrance. She waves and rushes over.

When Molly gets there, she stops and holds onto the railing to keep herself up. Feeling off balance and out of energy with dark circles under her eyes.

Libby quickly takes notice of this and gets concerned.

"Woah, Molly are you okay? You look really tired." Libby said.

Molly closes her eyes and takes deep breaths, slowly coming back to herself. She knows it's not enough, but she'll use whatever energy she has left to keep everyone around her happy.

Molly opens her eyes and lets go of the railing, wrapping her arm around Libby. Not only to convince her she's okay, but also because she needs help standing.

"I'm fine! I've just been busy for the last few days working on a big surprise for the family. You know me, sometimes when I get in the zone, I forget to sleep." Molly replied.

Libby knows this act too well. The one where Molly pretends everything is normal when that's clearly not the case. She just wishes she'd learn her lesson after everything that's happened.

"Well, then you should go home and get some rest. School can wait. I'll bring your homework over after school, so you don't have to worry about missing anything. Also, did you forget to eat too? You look really pale and…Smaller. If that's even possible. You were already really tiny before." Libby said.

Molly thinks back to the days she spent working on her big surprise for the family. She remembers time flying by, drinking water here and there, but no sleep and no food. Even the week before that she was forgetting to eat most of the time, ever since Sunnyland.

Thinking about this, Molly realizes she should have set an alarm to remind herself to take breaks or have someone check on her. Both her parents have been working a lot, Darryl was hanging out with his friends, and Scratch was in the Ghost World actually doing his job as Chairman. She keeps trying to rationalize her decisions, but deep down knows why she stopped taking care of herself.

"Yeah, I must have forgotten to eat too…No worries! I'll just head to the cafeteria and grab something before class. And I'm okay, really. I can make it through the school day. Promise!" Molly replied.

Libby still looks skeptical and is very suspicious of Molly. She has a habit of lying to cover up pain and avoid being honest about her feelings.

"Okay. Just, let me know if you need help with anything. And if there's something you want to talk about, know that I'm here to listen." Libby said.

Molly nods and starts walking. She tries her best to keep up her usually hyperactive energy, but fails as she walks slowly with Libby at her side.

Libby sees the cafeteria. As they walk in together, she gestures for Molly to sit down while she goes to get some food.

Molly starts to feel nervous. She hasn't eaten enough in a while and is starting to like the feeling. She feels lighter, not just physically but emotionally as well. It feels euphoric and dreamy and she doesn't know if she wants to let it go.

Molly puts her head down on the table and starts to drift off, the world around her blurring. It's strange yet wonderful, like an escape. She feels lightheaded and dizzy, but is starting to like that feeling too.

Molly giggles as she takes in this funny feeling.

I feel like a ghost, light and free. Is this how all of the ghosts feel? When I was a Wraith, it didn't feel like this. I still felt connected to my body, but this is different. I feel weightless and happier somehow. Like I could just disappear and float away in the clouds…

Suddenly, Molly snaps out of it when she feels a hand on her shoulder trying to wake her up. Then a familiar voice brings her back to reality.

"Molly! What happened? Are you okay?" Libby asked.

Molly sits up and opens her eyes, looking around confused by all the colors and blurry world around her. Then everything slowly comes back into focus and she sees Libby, worried and nearly in tears.

Molly automatically smiles. Trying to reassure Libby she's alright by being her cheerful self.

"Yes, I'm fine! I must have fallen asleep for a little bit. I guess I really am tired. Maybe I should go home." Molly replied.

Just as Molly's about to get up and leave, Libby grabs her arm and forces her to sit back down.

"Not until you eat something. I'm glad you're going home to rest, but you can't walk all the way there running on empty." Libby said.

Molly sits there, frozen with fear as she stares at the lovely breakfast Libby got for them. It's one of her favorites, banana chocolate chip muffins, which she loves making for her family, as well as some fruit. Still, it scares her. Just knowing the heavy feeling will come back as soon as she eats something.

Molly tries her best to come up with an excuse. She starts to tear up realizing she might not have a way out of this.

"I'm not hungry. I just really want to go home. I'll feel better after I get some sleep." Molly replied.

Libby sighs, knowing how stubborn Molly can be.

"At least let me walk home with you. I don't want you passing out on the sidewalk alone." Libby said.

Molly nods, a smile on her face again as her tears fade. She avoided this meal and for some reason that makes her feel like she accomplished something. That dangerous euphoria of feeling empty is starting to creep. She's not proud to admit this, but she loves it.

"Thank you for understanding, Libby. And of course you can walk home with me! It'll be fun to just talk about random silly things that make us laugh. Not like the time I passed out at our family staycation in Sunnyland. Everyone should just stop bringing that up every time I overwork myself…I won't lose control like that again, okay? So will everyone just stop worrying about me!" Molly replied.

Libby's taken aback. She didn't even bring up the Sunnyland incident, but she was there. It was scary for everyone to see someone as energetic as Molly faint like that. She looked so fragile and sad lying in her bed for hours before she woke up.

Libby thinks about that and how traumatic it must have been for Molly. Realizing that's probably why she's not sleeping or eating. It must be to feel safe and in control. She just hopes this phase doesn't turn into something worse.

Deciding to let it go for now, Libby gets up and puts her hand out.

"Alright, no talk about that. Let's just enjoy this peaceful walk back to your house." Libby said.

Molly smiles, taking Libby's hand as they start walking slowly.

"Thanks, Libby! I owe you one." Molly replied.

Libby nods as she walks out of the school with Molly by her side. They get to the sidewalk and she can tell Molly's fading fast.

Molly continues to talk and talk about random things and Libby lets her put her arm around her. She can tell she still needs help walking and feels sad for her friend.

Once they arrive at the McGee's house, Libby smiles, glad they made it in one piece. She helps Molly inside and realizes nobody's home. This worries Libby, but she tries her best to stay calm.

Before Libby leaves, she makes sure Molly gets to her room and in her bed safely. She puts a water bottle and protein bar on her dresser for her, just in case she gets hungry.

Libby looks at Molly who's lying in her bed and starting to fall asleep already.

"Alright, Molly. You get some rest. I'm going to go now, but I'll call your Mom and Dad to make sure they come home and keep an eye on you." Libby said.

Molly starts drifting off, that wonderful feeling of lightness comes over. It's almost peaceful, but there's something beneath the surface. A coldness that feels eerie.

"Okay bye…I'll be okay…Haha…Sleeping is nice…Goodnight." Molly replied.

Molly falls asleep and Libby decides to stay, at least until her parents get home. She doesn't want to leave Molly alone like this, so she pulls up a chair and gets out her cell phone, dialing Pete's phone number.

"Hello, Mr. McGee. It's Libby. I think you need to come home. Molly's not feeling well and…She's just not herself." Libby said.

Libby listens to Pete and she can hear Sharon talking in the background, realizing they're together in the car and on their way home. She talks to them for a bit, letting them know what happened, and she can hear the worry and fear in their voices. Then says goodbye.

Libby starts to tear up, but tries her best to hold back her sadness. She knows Molly's asleep, but she's always had this ability to pick up on others emotions and energies, so she does her best to stay calm.

Suddenly, Libby sees something mystical. A glowing yellow aura around Molly. Putting the pieces together, she sits there frozen. It's Molly's ghost energy, her soul is starting to leave her body and that can only mean one thing.

"Oh no! Molly, what have you done…" Libby said.
