Author Note: I hope that you enjoy this rewrite for this story. I had originally written this story back in 2012 and was in needed for a rewrite. I decided to change a few of the characters that I own because I was not feeling the original story any longer.
Chapter 1
Today was going to be a big day for Steve. He was getting his family back and he could not wait. He had just come back to Hawaii following his father's death. He knew that Marissa needed to close the ties on the mainland before coming home.
Steve knew that he needed to come up with a cover story before getting Marissa and the girls from the airport. He did not know the team as well as he wanted before telling them about his family, so he was planning to keep it a secret for a bit.
"Hey, I have something to do regarding my dad so I will be in a little bit later today." Steve said in the text message.
"Okay." Danny responded back to him.
He put his phone away in his pocket while waiting for Marissa and the kids to land. They were supposed to be there in about two minutes.
"Steve" Marissa said to her husband as she walked over with the double stroller.
"Daddy!" Lexi yelled for her daddy as she ran over to him. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too baby girl." Steve said before getting down to her level. "Were you good for mommy?"
"I was, baby girl." Lexi responded to her father with a smile.
"She was okay." Marissa to her husband before he stood up to give her a small hug. "I missed you."
"I missed you too. We need to get you to your place." Steve responded to her. "Remember what we talked about last night."
"I know and as much as I don't like it. I agree that we need to be careful a little bit but maybe we should not lie to the team. They have the right to know about our family." Marissa responded to her husband.
"I know, you are right. Steve said as they got the kids into the truck. "Let's go home."
"Yay!" Lexi yelled as her father smiled. "Daddy, are we going to your house?"
"Not for a little bit. Daddy has a few things to figure out before we can all be home together, but I will be with you girls every night." Steve responded to her.
"Okay daddy." Lexi said sadly. She knew that there was a bad man that was keeping her away from her dad.
"Baby, it's only going to be for a little bit." Marissa promised her daughter as she checks on Lexi. They managed to get to the house in recorded time. Steve had brought over all the kid's items that he had his father moved to storage before he went away on a mission just to be safe.
A few hours later, Marissa was sitting outside. She kept thinking about Steve and how hard this would be since they were both in the same state but could not be together yet. She heard her phone ring.
"Hey, did you managed to find him?" Marissa asked her husband.
"Not yet. We were able to find some guy that he recently hired and got a few answers. We will find him soon." Steve responded to his wife. "Hey, listen, this will be over as soon as we can."
Two weeks went by before Marissa got into her car after dropping the kids off at daycare. She was about to start at Five 0 and truth be told that she was nervous about this.
Meanwhile in headquarters, Steve knew that Marissa was coming in today. He had to mentally prepared himself for what was going to happen with the team. He got up and walked out of the office. He walked over to the table.
"Alright guys. There is a new girl joining our team today." Steve revealed to them.
"Yes, I won't be the only girl on this team anymore." Kono responded to her team with a smile.
"Well hopefully Steve won't get her shot." Danny responded to Kono.
"Hey, I already said sorry about that plus that was the suspect that shot you not me." Steve argued back with him.
"But it should never happen in the first place." Danny responded to Steve.
Before Steve had a chance to answer, Marissa came walking up to the table.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Marissa." She introduced herself to them. She had walked over to stand between Steve and Danny.
"Hi, I am Steve." Steve greeted her as he shook her hand. It felt weird to him to shake her hand but knew that he had to play it this way.
"Hi, my name is Danny, but this tough guy likes to call me Danno." Danny revealed to her.
"If you don't mind, I think that I will call you Danny." She responded to him.
"I like her." Danny responded to her with a smile.
"Hi, I am Kono, and this is my cousin Chin." Kono introduced herself and her cousin.
They had a few minutes before getting a call from the Governor with a new case. They managed to finish the case before heading back to Marissa's house to see the girls.
"So, I see what you meant about Danny." Marissa said to her husband. "I hope that he turns around."
"I am sure that he will once he likes our team." Steve responded to her before getting the kids down to bed. "I have to head home. I will see you tomorrow."
"Okay." Marissa said as she watched her husband walked out of the house. She hated this and she knew that he did to.
The next morning, Marissa pulled into the parking lot to find Steve getting out of the truck.
"Hi." Marissa said to her husband.
"Hey, how was your night?" Steve responded to his wife.
"It was fine." She responded to him.
They walked into the office together and head to their office separately. Kono walked into Marissa's office. She noticed a few photos on the desk. She went to look at them.
"Who are these girls? Are they your daughters?" Kono asked her.
"Yes." Marissa responds to her as she walked over to look at the same photo. She so badly wanted to say that the girls were also Steve's but couldn't right now.
"How old are they?" Kono asked her.
"Lexi is four, Zoey is two and Khloe is a little over eight months old." Marissa responded to her with a smile. "I should let the boys know about the girls."
"You should." Kono responded to her as they walked out to the table to see what the boys were working on.
"Hey, so I need to let you guys know about something." Marissa responded to her team.
"What is it?" Steve asked her. They had talked about letting the team know about the girls right away to build some trust between Marissa and them.
"I have three daughters, Lexi, Zoey and Khloe." I know that I don't look like I had three daughters." Marissa responded to Steve's question.
"Wow. Maybe we could have a playdate with the girls sometime. I have a daughter named Grace." Danny revealed to her with a smile.
"I am sure that Lexi and Zoey would love that." She responded to them.
