Chapter Sixteen:

Mystery Solved

With the Ghost Biker unmasked and the town spared from further trouble by the masked Eggman, even spared from having its bank robbed of money, this meant Sonic and Amy could enjoy the rest of their vacation without having to deal with crazy villains causing trouble for a while.

In fact, regardless if there was a Ghost Biker out there, Sonic and Mystery Inc, all considered it a job well done.

"Well, guys. Looks like this closes another mystery..." Fred told the gang, "...And you were very helpful, Sonic. I didn't think we'd be doing the whole "solve the mystery, catch and unmask the bad guy" thing when we first met, but we worked as a team together and I'll say that it was a real blast."

Sonic nodded. "No probs, Freddo." He said, "This hedgehog's glad to be of help. And you're such a nice dog, Scooby."

Scooby jumped up and started licking the hedgehog's face manically, much to the speedster's surprise.

"Okay, okay!" Sonic laughed, "Take it easy there!"

"You wanna play some Frisbee, Scoob." Amy asked, bringing out a pink-colored disk.

Scooby barked excitedly. "Oh yeah, oh yeah." He said, wagging his tail.

The pink hedgehog threw the Frisbee and Scooby raced over to where it was going to land and caught it in his mouth, then he raced back to Amy and gave it to her. The pink hedgehog giggled and threw the Frisbee again, watching as Scooby caught it just like before.

"I hope we team up again sometime, Sonic." Velma said to the hedgehog, "If there's a mystery up our alley and you're in the area."

"Just let me know if ya need a blue blur if there's a crook in a mask you can't catch." Sonic said with a smug grin, "And perhaps if you don't have any Scooby Snacks on hand in the event that Scooby is too scared, I'll be glad to get some chili-dogs from the nearest diner in town and your problem will be solved."

"Like, actually, that sounds generous." Shaggy remarked.

Fred yawned. "I think it's time to hit the hay with the mystery wrapped up..." He said, "Daphne, you wanna cuddle in Room 69?"

Daphne kissed Fred on the cheek, "Actually, I could go for a special massage, scarf boy." She whispered.

Sonic laughed. "Wow, it's just wild that you two got a room numbered 'sixty-nine'." He remarked, "Man, that motel sure does have everything that anyone could need. Now that you think about it, I wonder if there's a Chao Garden in the motel somewhere waiting for me and Amy, Chao are everywhere."

Sticks stepped forward. "I know where your Garden is..." She said, "Since you saved the town, may as well, show you and your girlfriend where you can find the little guys. We're darn lucky the Chao in there ain't secretly tickin' bombs waitin' to go off and start the Chao Apocalypse with the water deity Chaos."

"CHAO APOCALYPSE?!" Shaggy screamed.

"YIKES!" Scooby leaped into his owner's arms.

"STICKS?!" Amy cried, dropping her Frisbee that she was using while playing with Scooby.

"Oops..." Sticks shrugged, "Didn't mean to scare anybody by bringing up a crazy Chao legend I heard the Chao talkin' up."

"Let's go to our room..." Fred rolled his eyes and walked towards the motel with Daphne, ready to call it a night.

He excited the bathroom, wearing drawers and a towel around his neck after a shower. Fred felt refreshed and ready for some shut eye before he and the gang wrapped up their vacation in another day. Just then, he saw Daphne laying upon the bed, wearing a pink bra with the sheets covering half of her.

"Shall we wind down after busting some Egg-Biker Ghosts...?" She asked in a seductive whisper.

Daphne turned on the radio and attractive music began playing. She lay on her front, unhooking her bra, as Fred climbed upon the bed. He leaned over to kiss Daphne on the cheek, making her smile, and then adjusted his position.

Fred rubbed his soft palms together, grabbed the nearby lotion, spread it in his hands, and began massaging Daphne's curved back. The tall mystery-solving leader went up and down her spine, massaging every inch of Daphne's back all the way to her shoulders as the music continued on.

Perhaps they could do with a visit to the spa another time, but for now, Fred was more than eager to give Daphne some special attention. Oh, they both could use a night of intimacy after catching the Biker. And hopefully, the culprit had some success with the bill that Sonic had given him.

Eggman flew in on his Egg Mobile, gently parking it, a calm smile on his face. He'd just visited the landowners and given them the bill, making sure to sign his name on it before he did so. Luckily, they had listened and accepted the check. Hopefully, he would keep his park.

After hours of making it, compared to the minutes he spent while making his doomsday machines and battle robots along with the other Eggmanland, hours of planning and making sure everything worked, he couldn't imagine how much of a pain would be to watch all of that hard work be for nothing.

The doc didn't tell them that Sonic had given him the bill, they didn't need to know that. And yet, he owed his mortal nemesis. They'd battled for years with Eggman trying to beat the speedster at every turn, only to face defeat time and time again.

And as much as he despised Sonic interfering with his plans, he had respect for the blue blur and he was grateful that Sonic offered to help him.

Oh, and that gratitude, it was worth it!

Eggman gazed upon the theme park, walking past the sign that read: 'Eggman's Eggs-cellent Eggmanland Park, have some fun, legitimate business. I may be a villain, but I'm not a complete monster.'

And he could see it standing, the sign demanding a loan and threatening a foreclosure was gone. Those landowners had accepted his paycheck and they'd agreed to let him continue running the park.

Eggman laughed with delight, a true human laugh, a slight tear running down his cheek. And why didn't he tell Sonic sooner, before he was unmasked as the Ghost Biker?

The doctor heard motorcycle engines and turned; his eyes fixed upon the mountains. He brought out his binoculars, watching as a tall being in leather with a flaming skull rode to the peak on a motorbike and back down.

Eggman lowered the binoculars, recalling a time from his youth, a time where he met a man in leather on a motorbike at a rally.

And then his mind flashed to a few months before the landowners threatened to shut down his park, he'd just been beaten by Sonic, and he'd returned to his lair to find the Biker causing trouble and wrecking robots left and right before driving off.

He couldn't help but chuckle, wondering how that hoodlum would react to how someone impersonated him, after hearing the news of the Area 87 attack and the raids in Resort Town.

For now, the Biker didn't matter, it was good to have a legit theme park up and running...

Somewhere else, in a lush green garden, little blue creatures played together, some of them sang tunes and others munched on coconuts. The garden was peaceful, no disorder, just calm and happiness.

In the middle of the garden, two hedgehogs, one blue and one pink, sat together as they lovingly pet the Chao and often gave them fruit from the trees. Despite it being night out there, the garden's fake sky was blue as day, but not as blue as the Chao themselves or even Sonic.

And the little guys never knew of what had happened, almost no one knew of the biker attacks from the last few nights.

"Just got a text..." Amy said as she looked at her phone, "Oh man, you won't believe who it's from."

The pink hedgehog showed her boyfriend the text message she just received, allowing Sonic to see the symbol of the Eggman Empire.

'Park saved; landowners accepted check.' The message read; 'See you soon, hedgehog.'

"Heh-heh, Eggman." Sonic grinned.

"On the bright side, he's not carpet-bombing anybody or putting animals into Badniks." Amy nodded, "We did the right thing in the end. And there's some pictures of the park, look at those rides, they even have a Chao attraction there. Not a single trap in site..."

"Who's sending these pictures?" Sonic chuckled, "I mean, how do you have a line to Eggman, Ames?"

"It's not actually Eggman..." Amy explained, "They're from a pretty friendly robot I met a while back, one of Eggman's lesser evil and more harmless assistance robots who does janitorial duty... Oh!"

A Chao started nuzzling its head against Amy's shoulder and the pink hedgehog put down her phone, petting the creature back. Sonic grabbed an apple and fed it to a nearby Chao, watching it eat before it started purring and nuzzled the hedgehog's leg in a happy manner.

Sonic and Amy held hands, feeling relaxed and happy, everything felt alright.

A brown dog pounced on a Chao with a bark next to the hedgehogs in a playful manner, catching Sonic and Amy by surprise until they laughed. Scooby had found them here, no doubt he wasn't ready to sleep yet. The Chao became curious about the canine newcomer, who barked again as the hedgehogs ruffled his head playfully, looking forward to spending a little more time with him.

"Scooby-Dooby-Doooooooo!" Scooby said.

The blue hedgehog glanced at Amy, who activated the camera in her phone and raised it, pressing the button. And in a flash, the post-mystery Chao Garden group picture was taken...

THE END

"So, they caught the fake."

A black-cloaked figure stood on the hill overlooking Resort Town, face hidden beneath a hood. He looked up at the sky, staring at the stars, before lowering the hood to reveal a pale scaly humanoid face with tan eyes, pointy elf-like ears, traces of light-pink hair and two small horns on his head.

A gray-ish aura surrounded him, moving like the evening breeze.

"They did their job well. But all of that for a park, really? That scientist is quite the fool of a human." The unearthly man said, "However, it is quite the treat to see there are good people on this planet."

Just then, he heard a noise and frowned. It couldn't be, not now.

"How unexpected." The being remarked as he reached for his belt, hearing the noise again, "Who is messaging Maniphesterio'Loriv'Vogo'rhn now? I swear, I didn't send the Ghost Biker to attack a town or the military base. The real Biker would never attack an army outpost, even though he's inclined to cause trouble."

He brought out a small device that beeped and blinked in the dark, the contact receiver kept going off until Maniphesterio pressed the 'receive' button and a holo-message appeared. He read it and he froze, eyes going wide with shock. 'Return to the Apokalypse Sector.'

"Not now!" Maniphesterio whimpered, "Oh, I can't bear setting foot there... Oh, why?"

He sighed and raised his hands in surrender, then he sheathed his device and vanished into the night...
