ALL THAT GLITTERS

DISCLAIMER: STEPHENIE MEYER OWNS IT ALL

Epilogue

BELLA

I was deeply engrossed in my nightly reading when the sound of my phone alarm distracted me. It was half past nine in the evening. I turned off the reminder before putting the book on the nightstand. I ran a hand through my almost-dry hair and made a beeline for the Family Den. I turned on the television, immediately switching to the channel that showcased the live telecast of the evening.

My lips curled into an excited grin staring at Jasper on the screen. He was appointed to host the evening honoring my husband with the first Dr. Hugo Fontane Award for his decade-long transformational contribution to new media and as a global humanitarian. My husband had consistently turned down the award for three years, but the RFA committee was adamant about having Edward as its first recipient. Edward appreciated their tenacity, and I coaxed him into accepting it.

The committee went all out to make it the biggest business award event of the year with a red carpet, media coverage, and inviting everyone Edward knew. People from Edward's professional life were asked to speak about him and honor his work. I knew being strapped to a seat and hearing people gush about his accomplishments was Edward's worst nightmare. But he deserved the recognition and a lot more. Even though it was a big event, my husband refused to have unnecessary attention drawn toward him. Nobody from the family was present for the evening except Jasper, Alice, and his beloved Uncle Eleazar and Aunt Carmen.

The award ceremony started at seven. Since I had seen the event's itinerary, I knew Edward's speech was at ten. I watched Siobhan walk to the stage and passionately share stories from her years working with Edward. Next, the President of RFA came to the stage to speak about Edward's humanitarian work before calling him to accept the award and make a speech. Finally, I watched a room full of people offer a standing ovation as Edward took hold of the trophy with a charming grin.

It was not a surprise that he gave a passionate and empowering speech. He thanked the people who spoke tonight and the mentors who shaped him into the person he is. Edward spoke about his grandparents, parents, siblings, and friends before sharing stories from his non-profit. It filled me with pride to watch his talk captivate an entire crowd. Edward ended the speech by thanking me, spending a few minutes with praises that made me blush and cry at home. I wiped away my tears and clapped from my seat on the couch while the audience gave him another standing ovation as he walked off the stage.

I grabbed my phone to text Edward.

I'm so proud of you, sweetheart. That was an incredible speech. Come soon. I can't wait to see you. —B

A chuckle escaped my lips when he replied within a few seconds.

I am leaving for the tarmac in twenty minutes. I'll be in Jackson soon. I love you. —E

I love you more. I'm waiting. —B

My gaze shifted toward the television screen when I saw a camera following Edward backstage. He had a gentle smile on his face reading my text before he put the phone in his pocket. I watched him greet the starstruck catering and event planning staff, who made the event seamless. Then, the coverage stopped, making me frown.

I flipped through the news channels before pausing on the network, replaying Edward's award win. I smiled proudly. Once the news became repetitive, I turned off the television.

We were spending our summer in Jackson, Wyoming, at my vacation home, which was a wedding present from Edward. It was our last week in town since we were heading to Italy on Thursday. Tanya and Senna were getting married at Lake Como next Saturday. As Edward was a part of Tanya's bridal party, she had demanded our presence earlier than the wedding guests. So I was looking forward to meeting everyone.

Edward had reluctantly flown to Los Angeles in the morning for the award ceremony, but he was returning the same night instead of staying back. Oh, my grumpy husband. I could make tonight a bit special for him.

I eagerly returned to our bedroom to rummage through my walk-in closet. I reluctantly decided to wear my new black floral backless lace teddy and a matching short silk robe. Edward was always insensitive to my expensive lingerie. This time won't be any different. I blow-dried my hair, applied a hint of makeup and perfume, and slipped into the lingerie. I completed the outfit with a pair of sexy black stilettoes. Since I had a little more than an hour to spare, I spent the time making a few arrangements around the house.

My eyes flashed toward the entrance when I saw a car pulling up in the driveway at quarter past one. Edward was home. My heart skipped a beat. I calmed the anticipatory butterflies in my belly as I made my way toward the Family Den.

I knew it would take my husband ten minutes to come to me. He would read the note I put in the living room and check the bedrooms. I mentioned where I was in the note and that Skylar was asleep in the guest room upstairs. He got disappointed if she didn't greet him at the entrance. Edward was going to have fun tonight roleplaying a fantasy he was always eager to try. Something he would never do in his real life.

I crossed my legs and loosened my robe when I heard Edward enter the dimly lit Family Den. I heard his sharp intake of breath as he walked closer. His smoldering green eyes stared at the champagne bucket and crystal glasses on the coffee table. Finally, he zeroed in on my outfit, and his eyes bulged out. Edward gawked at me with his mouth agape for a few seconds before recovering his expression. Edward looked incredibly sexy in his disheveled tux with rolled-up sleeves and an undone bowtie around his neck. He tossed his black jacket on the back of the couch with a shaky breath.

"Alright, get up," Edward said quietly; his voice sounded business-like and cold.

I frowned. I thought Edward would like this. Did I upset him? I slowly rose to my feet before facing him. "I thought you—"

"Who told you to come here?"

I smiled internally. Edward was already in character. "Your friend said you wanted to celebrate after your award win."

He stepped closer to tug on the sash swiftly to open the robe. His eyes darkened, staring at my outfit. "This will do." Edward reached for my waist, but I shook my head.

"I need to see the cash first," I murmured haughtily. Edward showed me the wallet before tossing it on the coffee table. "Good. I have some rules. I'm yours for the hour. Your hour began when you entered the room. Your friend booked me for a normal session. No kissing, blowing in my mouth, tearing clothes, or sex without a condom."

He raised his eyebrow with an intrigued expression. "No kissing? I can pay extra."

"That will fall under the Girlfriend Experience. So that's $250 more."

"Money is not a problem."

"Fine," I shrugged. "What do you want to do first?"

Edward took a seat on the couch. He beckoned me toward him, so I sat straddling his lap. His warm hands caressed my bare ass before landing on my back. I leaned closer as he connected our lips for an urgent kiss. I interlaced my hands behind his head to eagerly return the kiss. I missed him so much. He moaned when I deepened our kiss, feeling his warm tongue tangle with mine.

I decided to engage my hands in undressing Edward. I hurled his bowtie on the other end of the couch and quickly unbuttoned his shirt. I dragged my lips toward his neck before kissing his muscular chest. Edward groaned as my kisses went lower. I sat on my knees, breathless, while I undid his trousers. My husband lowered his trousers and boxers until his erection sprang free.

"Take off your robe," Edward murmured while leaning back onto the couch. "I need to see what I'm paying for." My lips turned up a little as I slowly peeled off the robe. "Keep undressing. Don't stop until I tell you."

I lowered the thin straps of my teddy but paused, hearing a familiar notification ping on our phones. Edward and I shared a startled look. It's too early. A louder ringing notification followed the ping.

I jumped to my feet immediately, forgoing the little roleplay we had brewing. I adjusted the straps before retying the robe. "We'll do this another night."

"Baby," Edward offered me an irresistibly pleading expression that wavered my resolve.

"Right now, our actual baby is awake," I muttered, and he grumpily pulled up his trousers. I sighed heavily. I knew it had been a few weeks since we did a sexy roleplay. "Stay here. I'll be back in fifteen."

My husband offered me a jubilant smile. "I love you."

I chuckled as I hurried out of the room. Opening the door to the nursery, I found our eight-month-old daughter standing inside the crib, holding the bars for support. Her cries turned to whimpers as she watched me approach her. My baby plopped on her butt before raising her arms, indicating to be picked up. I smiled gently while lifting my baby in my arms.

"Hi, baby," I kissed her forehead. "You woke up two hours before your usual time. What's wrong, sweetie?" I cooed while swaying her a little. I did a quick job of changing her diaper, which calmed our daughter. Then, we went to the kitchen to warm one of her bottles.

"Ma-Ma! No!" My baby leaned toward my breast. "Ma-Ma!" She demanded as her bottle was heating for her night feeding. I rocked my baby, who fisted her hand against my robe. I carefully cradled my little girl once the bottle was warm and tested. I stifled a chuckle as her mouth gravitated toward my breast. She struggled with the bottle for a few seconds but gave in after growing comfortable with the taste. Her tiny hands grabbed onto the bottle as we returned to her nursery. I sat on the rocking chair facing the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the gorgeous mountain range.

Mia Ginevra Cullen turned eight months old last week. Our baby daughter was growing up quickly. It felt like yesterday we got her home from the hospital. Mia stared at me with her big soulful green eyes resembling Daddy's. I stroked her wavy bronze hair and smiled. Our daughter had inherited three of her father's physical traits: hair, eyes, and height. The rest of her was all me, to Edward's delight. She had a heart-melting shy smile that instantly grabbed everyone's attention. I don't think anybody who met Mia would disagree that her personality resembled her father, through and through. But there was a little bit of me in her too.

Mia was our miracle baby. It took many miscarriages, years of longing, and suppressed hope before our daughter entered the world. She was born on December 10, during our favorite month of the year. She made it one of the most memorable Christmas of our lives. Edward and I have plans to go away for a mini-vacation two months from now to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. I wondered if Mia would be fine without us for five days. It's two months away, Bella. Don't overthink.

"Mia, you are so beautiful," I murmured, tracing my index finger against her little face. "We are going to have a busy week. Yes, we are. We're going to Italy. It's your second trip to Italy," I explained, and she hummed against the bottle. Our daughter was a talker. She loved babbling and listening to stories with rapt attention. "Aunt Tanya and Aunt Senna are getting married in eight days. You will be the prettiest flower girl ever," I kissed her tiny fist. "And then we're going to Polignano a Mare. It's Daddy's grandparents' place. You love the beach there, don't you?"

I patiently shared random musings with Mia while she continued drinking the milk until her eyes drooped. I put the bottle away before settling Mia back in her crib. I scooted her stuffed toy closer and covered them with the blanket. I kissed her rosy cheek with a smile. She won't wake up until early morning. I left the door slightly ajar before returning to the Family Den.

Edward put his phone away and offered an amused grin. "Is Mia excited about her second trip to Italy?"

I narrowed my gaze at him. "You were listening again?"

"Love, I'm always listening. I love watching you with our baby; you know that. As if you don't do the same when I put Mia to sleep."

I smiled shyly. "That's true."

"There's that smile Mia got from you," He whispered with a shake. "So fucking beautiful. Did she fuss about the bottle?"

"A little, but our daughter is accommodating," I shrugged. "She's getting used to breastfeeding since we're here. Switching back to the bottle will be difficult once we return to Seattle. I'm starting the transition early."

"Mia has a smart Mommy."

"Yes, she does." I disrobed before sitting astride his lap again. I ran my hands through his tousled hair. "I think we need to quickly recap everything before the interruption."

"I agree. I am paying extra for the girlfriend experience," Edward pressed his lips to mine for a kiss while his wandering hands brushed against my sides. He lowered the straps of my lace teddy before yanking it below my breasts. I moaned when he deftly fondled my warm breasts. He planted a gentle kiss between the valley of my breasts before pointing to the carpet. "Our time is running short."

I knelt in front of Edward while he lowered his trousers and boxers. I teased my husband, slowly licking the tip before running my flat tongue along the length. He groaned and leaned forward to gather my hair in his hands. He coiled my hair around his hand before forcing me to take him deeper into my mouth. I breathed through my nose as I obliged his demand. I felt his hips thrusting against my mouth as I pleasured him. I heard his satisfied sighs and moans while he tugged on my hair.

"Look at me," Edward whispered breathlessly. I gazed into his eyes as I bobbed my head against his erection. I moaned, sending vibrations through his length. I watched him throw his head back with a loud sigh. "Fuck, baby. I'm so close." I could feel a familiar ache in my jaw as I continued my ministrations. "Shit!" Edward groaned as he orgasmed in my mouth. I licked him clean, keeping my eyes on his flushed face.

I rose to my feet, and his eyes moved with me. "You just broke a rule," I said in a feather-soft voice. My hands tugged on the teddy until it pooled at my feet. I kicked it away. "You owe me," I leaned forward until my breasts dangled against his face. His hot breath on my hard nipples made me shiver. I tilted his head upward and tapped my index finger on his lips. "Your turn, handsome."

Without hesitation, Edward swooped down to grab my left foot. He put it on the couch next to him; the heel dug into the cushioned surface. His lips dragged wet kisses from my knee toward my inner thigh. My breathing sped up, and my body yearned for his lips to move closer to my clit. I buried my hands in his hair, keeping a tight hold on my husband.

We froze, hearing a loud cry down the hall. Edward groaned against my thigh before leaning back. We shared a defeated look. I put my foot on the ground while Edward donned his trousers and buttoned his shirt. I stroked his hair. "Your turn. I'll get dressed."

"I know," Edward kissed my flat belly before getting off the couch. He cleaned his hands with sanitizer in the corner of the room and left.

I grabbed a box of tissues to clean myself before I redressed in the teddy. After snugly wearing the silk robe, I plopped on the couch with a sexually frustrated sigh. I stared at the melting ice inside the champagne bucket. My ears perked, hearing something buzzing under the coffee table. I frowned curiously. I leaned down to see an orange plastic walkie-talkie carelessly lying on the carpet.

"Mommy? Can you hear us? Do you copy?" I heard Edward ask.

I stifled a chuckle. I long pressed the speaker button to reply. "I can hear you, copy."

"We have a 10-34 here."

"I don't know walkie-talkie codes, Edward," I rolled my eyes.

"We're experiencing trouble at this station, over," He replied, and I frowned with concern.

"What happened?"

There was some shuffling on the other speaker. "Mommy," I heard my baby's soft whimper. "Mommy, I have a big bad dream."

I dropped the walkie-talkie and removed my heels before rushing down the hall. I entered the bedroom to see my little boy deeply snuggled against his Daddy. Edward kissed his hair. "Mommy's here, baby boy. Look."

I sat on the bed just as our son crawled toward me. I hugged him close with a heavy sigh. His sniffles came to a halt within a few seconds. Edward scooted closer to put his arm around us. He seemed deep in thought about something.

Aiden Thomas Cullen will turn five years old in less than three weeks. Our baby boy was precious. His birthday will be a big celebration since he looks forward to inviting the new friends he will make at kindergarten in two weeks. It was difficult to fathom that our son would soon be off to his first day at kindergarten. He was excited but nervous about his big day, but our boy was the bravest.

Aiden pulled back slightly to stare at me. His hazel eyes were anxious. I stroked his brown hair with a gentle smile. I passed Aiden his favorite stuffed elephant, and he held it to his chest. I wiped away his tears. "Do you want to talk about it, Aiden?"

Aiden stared at Edward before looking at me. "We go to the big mall to get my favorite toy, but then you and Daddy weave me. I look evvywhere, but you do not come back, Mommy. Scary."

My heart broke, staring at the tears in his beautiful eyes. "Aiden baby, it's okay to feel scared sometimes."

Edward rubbed his back. "Yes. Even Mommy and Daddy have bad dreams sometimes. But do you know what? They are just dreams. They are not real. You are here with us. Safe and sound. When I was little, like you, I used to have bad dreams. Do you know what my Mamma told me? She told me to focus on a happy place."

Aiden offered us a cute frown. "Happy pace?"

I smiled. "Yes, sweetie. A happy place. It's a special place to feel happy, safe, and calm. A place that makes you relax and feel good. Close your eyes," I said, and Aiden obliged. "Now, think of a place that makes you safe and calm. Where you love being happy."

Aiden seemed thoughtful for a long second before his lips curled into a smile. "Mommy, I like when we bake in the kitchen with Daddy and Sky watching!"

My heart almost burst with joy hearing that. I grinned at Edward, who kissed my cheek. So we were his happy place. I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Now think why that happy place is special. Can you tell us what is happening in your happy place?"

"Uh-huh. Mommy and I bake choco-chip cookies. Daddy eats choco fwom the bowl, and Mommy catches!" He let out a tiny giggle. "And then I give Sky yummy strawberry 'cause Daddy says Sky is a good girl. And then we put the cookie in the big oven, and I watch them go round and round. Then Mommy brings Mia, and I tell her about the cookies. Mia smiles, Mommy."

I wiped away the tear from the corner of my eye. Edward gauzed my emotional reaction and decided to speak. "Aiden, that is a beautiful happy place. If you ever feel scared or upset, you can close your eyes and visit your happy place. Then you'll feel good again."

Aiden opened his eyes, and an adorable smile graced his face. "Daddy, I feel good now."

"That's great, bud," Edward kissed his cheek. "I think it's time to go back to sleep."

"Kay."

Edward and I got under the covers with Aiden, who grabbed each of our hands in his. I kissed his head and wiped away the tears from his long lashes. I loved that his happy place was a real incident that happened a few months ago. Aiden cuddled against me before turning to look at Edward.

"Daddy?"

"Hmm?"

"What is your happy place?"

Edward smiled and shut his eyes. "Hmm, let's see. We are back home. I'm sitting on the piano bench with Aiden, teaching him how to play. Skylar is sitting next to the piano, watching us. Mommy is reading a book on the couch, and Mia is watching us from her playpen."

Aiden gasped as he gave me a surprised grin. "Mommy, Daddy teaches me piano in a happy place."

"I know, baby," I stroked his hair. "Just like you practice during the week. Come on now, let's sleep. It's way past your bedtime."

Edward checked something on his phone before his eyes widened. Then, after he scrambled into a sitting position, he lifted Aiden off the bed.

I rolled my eyes. "Edward, what are you doing? Aiden needs to sleep. Who texted you?"

"The security. Follow me." That was all he said.

Edward threw Aiden over his shoulder before they ran out of the room. I could hear our son's carefree laughter echoing in the hallway. What the hell was he doing? Aiden will be grumpy in the morning if he doesn't get adequate sleep. I reluctantly left the room and heard their hushed voices coming from the Living Room.

I found Edward and Aiden seated on the day bed overlooking scenic views. It was our favorite spot in the house. It offered views of the rainforest, mountain range, and the pond. Aiden was sitting on Edward's lap, staring at the pond with a fascinated expression. I followed his gaze to see a pair of elks drinking water. I couldn't help but smile. The forest animals only came to drink water during the night, one of the reasons our son never got to see them. So tonight was a good coincidence for him.

"Daddy?" Aiden whispered. "I wanna go say hello."

Edward chuckled. "That's a sweet thought, boy baby. But we shouldn't disturb the animals who drink the water. They might get scared and never return. We are not scary, but the animals don't know that. So we should let them have their fun."

"They can go to their happy place, Daddy. Then they not scared of us," Aiden explained with an easy shrug.

Edward sent me an exasperated look. Our son always outsmarted Daddy. I stifled a chuckle. "Aiden, baby, Daddy is right. The animals love coming here because nobody disturbs them. We should respect their choice, don't you think so?"

Aiden pouted but nodded his head. "Yes, Mommy."

Edward wrapped a throw blanket around our son as I perched beside him. Aiden leaned into Edward while staring at the animals through his sleepy gaze. It didn't take long for him to drift off to sleep. I stared at his handsome face with a happy sigh. Aiden preferred me over Edward, but I loved the bond they shared. It was special to witness. Something similar to what Edward shared with Eleazar. Edward was Aiden's hero in every shape and form. Our son was right. His Daddy was the best in the world. He was a natural at being a parent.

Edward kissed my cheek, snapping me out of my musings. He stroked the hem of my robe with a bittersweet smile. "Raincheck?"

"Hmm, raincheck. Soon," I promised my husband with a kiss.

We had a slow Sunday morning since Aiden and Mia decided to sleep an extra hour. Skylar was up at her usual hour but waited until Aiden was awake to demand her morning walk. She loved playing with Aiden on her daily walk in the nearest park. After everyone's morning routine was complete, I put Mia on the Living Room carpet beside Aiden and Skylar while I worked. She loved playing with them while army-crawling inside her makeshift fence. Mia was quick to wander off, so a fence was a sensible way to restrict her access. She will find a way to take it down in the coming weeks.

"Mommy?" Aiden asked as he watched Mia suck on her teething ring.

I took my eyes off the laptop screen for a moment. "Yes, baby?"

"Mia not say my name. She only says, Mama and Dada."

"Mia is still learning, Aiden. She'll start saying your name soon. And Skylar's too."

"Mommy, the baby at Blue House, also says Mama and Dada. But she cries a lot. Mia does not cry lots," Aiden detailed with a thoughtful nod.

My heart skipped a beat. "Every baby is different."

It had been a long time since Aiden mentioned Blue House. I stared at my baby boy, who had casually mentioned something that made me anxious. It was the same home where Aiden lived with a foster family before Edward and I adopted him two years ago.

A year and a half after celebrating our first wedding anniversary, Edward and I decided to try for a baby. We were excited to start our family, something we had been looking forward to since we began dating. Four months later, we found out that I was six weeks pregnant. We were overjoyed. But our excitement of the imminent parenthood didn't last because I had a miscarriage a week later. I had never felt more pain in my life than losing our baby. Edward tried to be strong for both of us, but I knew that period wasn't easy for him.

We grieved for a few weeks before returning to our normal routine. Edward and I decided to let things happen naturally. I found out I was pregnant the following January. Since it was an early detection, we kept it to ourselves. Before my pregnancy could cross the ten week-mark, I had my second miscarriage. Things were numb for some time. Edward and I consulted fertility doctors to find the reason, but the doctors said that Edward and I had normal reports. Neither of us was the problem.

That was a dark period in our lives but nothing compared to the suffering after my third miscarriage within a few months. We had lost hope, and I was tired of feeling a few weeks of joy before things went downhill. Edward and I desperately wanted to become parents, but the grim reality hit us hard: There was a possibility we couldn't have children. Three miscarriage was rough, but Edward and I stuck by each other. We found comfort in each other and Skylar. Our baby did everything to try to make us happy. After the third time, I was done trying for a baby.

Getting over the grief, shock, and despair took a while. We felt gutted watching Emmett and Rose with their children or seeing kids play with Skylar in the dog park. Having children had suddenly become an impossible feat to achieve. We hadn't scouted for other options, but adoption was something we were open to discovering.

It was a beautiful spring morning in April when Edward and I met Aiden in the dog park. Skylar dragged us toward a child who got his foot stuck inside a fence, and the child was Aiden. We felt a connection to our little boy like nothing we had experienced. Edward and I instantly adored and loved him. After discovering that he lived with a Foster Family, we contemplated the decision to adopt.

We spent the next five months building a strong relationship with Aiden, visiting him in his foster home, and spending time as a family. Our boy was just three when we first met him. It was heartbreaking how Aiden had asked for a Mommy and Daddy for Christmas since he wanted a family. The five months that led to Aiden's adoption process were difficult. We wanted him home with us, and he refused to stay with his Foster Family. We had sleepless nights after meeting Aiden every day because his heartbreaking cries when we left him every night were difficult to bear. Finally, during one difficult storm night in August, Aiden made his Foster Family call us. It was the first time he called us Mommy and Daddy.

Since my husband ran a non-profit that had helped government adoption agencies, Edward used his connections to fast-track our case to adopt Aiden. I still remember Aiden coming home two nights before my birthday. Waking up to Edward and Aiden bringing a handmade card and breakfast in bed was the best birthday I had ever had.

Aiden blended right into the family. Knowing how much we had suffered with conception, our parents supported our adoption decision. In addition, since Esme and Carlisle had adopted Alice and Charlie and Renée went through a similar process to adopt Jake, they offered us guidance and support to make the transition easier for our little boy.

Our son was charming, brave, and curious. He always had questions running in his head that made us speechless sometimes. One of his talents was baking. Aiden and I loved baking during the weekends. He was a natural. Aiden also took piano and swimming lessons from his Daddy thrice a week. It was adorable to watch them together. Aiden was the smartest little boy we knew. Edward and I missed the first three years of his life, but there were memories to be made for the next few decades.

Edward re-entered the room with a smile playing on his lips. He settled at my side before draping his arm around me. He leaned against my head while staring at my laptop screen.

"What are you reviewing?" Edward kissed my hair.

"A few performance appraisals. It's due next week, but we'll be busy."

"Always so efficient, Miss. Swan."

Over the last six years, the company has undergone several organizational shifts and changes. Siobhan, who worked as the Chief Creative Officer, moved to New York to take over the reins of Devonshire, the leading market research company Edward purchased. She was reluctant to leave our company, but it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run a multinational firm. Edward was ecstatic at how well she was performing in her position.

Jasmine, the Head of Advertising and Marketing, worked in the Chicago branch of Cullen Advertising as her family had to move due to her husband's company. After many years of contemplation, Jane retired as the Head of Commercial Advertising four years ago. She moved to London to be with her two sons and young grandkids.

As employees, the changes were difficult to digest as our department had always been a big family. Not seeing Siobhan, Jasmine, or Jane for advice felt intimidating. In addition, we were uncertain if the new people joining could fill in their shoes.

While Siobhan was shifting roles, Edward took over her responsibilities as the CCO to make things easier for us. It was exciting to have a few meetings with him. My husband looked sexy when he devised creative solutions that made everyone's jaws drop. Edward did hire Siobhan's replacement. Her name was Janelle Ralph. She was amazing and a slightly less intimidating version of Edward. Everyone instantly loved and respected her. Since Janelle and Edward worked closely, she and I were on great terms.

We were told that somebody from the Vancouver office was transferred to replace Jasmine's gaping hole in the company. Noah Johnson became the Head of Advertising and Marketing. Noah and his husband moved to Seattle with their young daughter for a better job opportunity. We loved Noah. He was one of my favorite people at work.

As for Jane's position as the head of Commercial Advertising, the management wanted to hire someone internally to fill the position that worked closely with brand strategists, designers, and content production. Jane had shortlisted a few names for senior management, with me being one of them. The management looked at the shortlisted candidates' work over the years and the successful campaigns led by each one. They chose me to take over, and I was over the moon at the opportunity.

The CEO, Edward, didn't have time to know about the lower management changes. It wasn't until I took over Jane's cabin with my name on the door that I called him into my office. My husband being shocked and proud would be an understatement. Edward being Edward, hosted a party for our family and friends to celebrate the achievement.

Jane was just a call away during the initial months when everything seemed daunted. I called Edward sometimes when nothing made sense. He was so supportive and kind in making things easier for me. I had the best husband. Becoming a department head required me to hire an assistant. I took Bree's help as we shortlisted and interviewed candidates with HR. I chose twenty-two-year-old Zoya as my assistant. She was young, motivated, and incredibly kind. I wanted anybody who entered my office to come with a positive mindset after meeting the assistant. I still remember how disinterested Jane's assistant was with her job on my first day there.

Zoya, who went by the name Zee was great at her job. I had no complaints. It took a while for everyone to adjust to the changes, but things ran smoothly. Noah and I were close friends; we even planned playdates with his daughter and Aiden. Since I used my maiden name at work, Noah didn't know I was married to Edward during the initial weeks. It was then Noah admitted that he moved to Seattle, wanting to work closely with Edward. My husband wasn't a frequent visitor at other Cullen Advertising branches.

I snapped out of my reverie when Aiden skipped toward us. He got comfortable on Edward's lap with a boyish grin.

"Mommy, is Abby gonna come here?"

I stroked his hair. "Abby won't come to Jackson, baby. She's in Montana right now, visiting her family. But, like you, she's also on summer break," I tapped his nose.

Aiden giggled. "When are you and Daddy on summer break?"

Edward and I shared a chuckle. "We don't have breaks, baby. Only Abby does."

Abigail was Aiden and Mia's nanny. We hired her a little less than two years ago. I worked from home during Aiden's initial months at home after the adoption. When it became difficult for Edward and I to juggle our schedules, we reluctantly hired a nanny. After the terrible nanny incidents in the past, I let my husband take care of the agency. Abby was chosen after multiple background checks, interview rounds, and screenings. Aiden loved her, as did our baby girl.

I put my laptop on the coffee table just as Mia clutched onto my leg. Surprised, I laughed as I didn't notice my baby girl army crawl toward me. Instead, I watched in amazement as she slowly attempted to stand on her feet. Aiden gasped and clapped his hands. "Mia, good job!"

Mia offered him an adorable grin while leaving her hold on my leg. She clapped her hands to mimic her brother. Unfortunately, she lost her balance instantly and fell on her butt. She whimpered as tears gathered in her big green eyes. Being the Super-Dad, Edward instantly jumped to his feet and swept our baby in his arms. Mia's face broke into a heartbreakingly beautiful smile.

"Da-Da!" Mia clapped her hands again. She put her palm against Edward's mouth and kissed it. She giggled while pointing toward the floor-to-ceiling window. "Da-Da!"

"Does Mia want to go out?" Edward cooed gently. "We'll go in the evening, princess. After your big nap, alright?" He sneaked a glance at me before throwing our daughter in the air. I stopped breathing until he safely hugged her. Mia laughed heartily as she held onto Daddy.

I stared at my husband in shock. "Edward, you promised to stop doing that!"

Edward pouted. "She loves it."

"Da-Da!" Mia pointed to the ceiling, wanting him to throw her again.

Aiden bounced on the couch. "Daddy, me too! You didn't throw me yesterday!"

"What?" I threw a glare toward Edward. "Aiden, does Daddy do this every day?"

He giggled. "Yes, Mommy! Daddy is strong!"

Edward frowned at our son. "Hey! What did I tell you, Aid? We can't tell Mommy about it."

Aiden offered him a shy smile. "Sorry, Daddy. I want a big throw! I wanna touch the sky!"

"Nobody is touching the sky," I pulled Aiden onto my lap. "I will talk to Daddy later about this."

Edward and Mia quietly stared at me with their identical green eyes. They looked so adorable. It always broke my resolve to watch Edward with our babies. Aiden cuddled against me, drawing my attention. I kissed his head. My sweet baby boy. He played with my wedding ring as we watched Edward make Mia laugh. Nobody entertained our daughter more than Daddy. The years of miscarriages, the lengthy adoption process, and my pregnancy were all worth it to see Edward as the best father to our children.

When Mia saw Aiden on my lap, she stretched her arms toward me. "Ma-Ma!" She smiled, showing off her two pearly white incisors. Her tiny hand patted Edward's cheek. "Da-Da, Ma-Ma!"

Edward chuckled as he deposited our daughter next to us. I shifted Aiden to make space for Mia on my lap. She chewed on her thumb, making me sigh.

"Edward, sweetheart, get her teething ring, please," Once I passed Mia the teether, she began sucking on it. My daughter had an incoming lower incisor that was irritating her.

"Ew, Mommy!" Aiden wrinkled his nose as Mia drooled onto her floral dress. She offered him a smile.

I wiped her mouth with a clean napkin. "Aiden, Mia has new teeth incoming. That's why she is drooling."

Skylar barked feebly before jumping on the couch at our side. Mia grabbed Skylar's fur and cooed to herself. She felt comforted and safe in Skylar's presence. Our baby Skylar was seven now. Despite her age, she was young and fit. Since she was a puppy, Edward actively took her on outdoor adventures, and they still go hiking. But now, they have a little hiking buddy with them. Edward and I often say that we hit the dog lottery with Skylar. She did have a few medical conditions taken care of, but she was a healthy dog. She loved her runs, swimming days, and cuddles.

She was a natural protector of the children, always looking out when we weren't around. She loved playing with them and Aiden's big hugs. Even our dog had changed a lot since the kids came along. She was more careful with her movements around them and acted like a big sister. It was adorable. That didn't stop her and Aiden from always getting into trouble.

"Hi, baby," I stroked Skylar's soft fur. She nuzzled my neck before settling at our side. Mia dropped her teether before putting her hands on her eyes. She lowered her hands and squealed at Skylar. Our dog barked in response, making her laugh. They had their own version of peek-a-boo.

I glanced at Edward, who was talking on the phone as he tidied the fence. He was occupied with work in the morning too. I think he missed out on something important due to yesterday's event.

Once Skylar finished playing with the baby, she came to the other side to sit with Aiden. He stroked her head soothingly until she put her head on his tiny lap. He giggled in response. After Edward's call, he stood before us with a sad pout.

"Mommy gets all the love. There is no space for Daddy."

Aiden pointed to the opposite end of the couch. "Look, Daddy!"

I stifled a chuckle, and Edward laughed. "That's generous of you, Aid."

Edward sat at our side with Skylar on his lap. He put his arm around us and kissed my cheek. "We're all obsessed with Mommy."

I blushed and rested my head on his shoulder. "If you say so."

"I'll make lunch today," He murmured before kissing my forehead. "How about lasagne?"

My lips curled into a knowing smile. My husband was missing his grandparents. "That sounds delicious, sweetheart. Aiden loves it. Next week, he will tell Mrs. Platt that you make a better lasagne than her."

Edward smiled at Aiden. "I know. I think Nonna likes to hear that. I'll get started on lunch," His gaze shifted toward the entrance for a second. "Besides, you wouldn't want to get busy in the kitchen in a few minutes."

I frowned. "What does that mean?"

A few seconds later, the front door opened with a loud bang. Everyone simultaneously peered at the entrance. My mouth fell open when my parents entered the house with Jake and Leah trailing behind. Oh my god! I hadn't seen my parents in ages. Aiden gasped and leaped off the couch. He launched himself toward them with open arms. Skylar ran after him with an excited bark.

"Grandma! Grandpa!"

Charlie laughed heartily as he swung Aiden in his arms. "Hey, buddy! Look at you! You've grown since we last saw you. Isn't that right, Renée?" He stroked Skylar's head with a grin.

Renée kissed Aiden's cheek. "I know! So tall and handsome. We missed you so much, honey! Grandpa and I have a lot of presents for you!"

Aiden clapped his hands. "Yay! I miss you lots, Grandma! I make a big card foh you and Grandpa."

"Really? I can't wait to see it!" She bent down to kiss Skylar's head. "Hi, sweet girl. You are always so beautiful."

I rose to my feet with Mia on my hip. "Aiden, let Grandpa and Grandma come inside!" Mia cooed as she stared at her grandparents, immediately recognizing them. "I know, baby. That's Grandpa and Grandma."

Mom squealed as she rushed toward us. After giving me a quick hug, she immediately took Mia in her arms. "Here she is! And look at that cute dress!" Renée squeezed her into a hug until she whimpered.

"Ma-Ma! No!" Mia stretched her arms toward me.

I giggled. "Mom, don't squish Mia. Gentle, please."

"I'm sorry. She's just so adorable and cuddly." Mom kissed my baby's rosy cheek. "Let's go say hi to everyone, Mia."

Edward offered me a gentle smile from his position on the couch. I walked over to give him a quick kiss. God, I had the best husband in the world. Last week I was sharing how I hadn't seen my family in months. With work, kids, and everything in between, it was difficult to make time for them. But things will get better in the coming months.

Charlie would retire from the police force in October, and my parents were moving to Seattle. Jake and I purchased a Mediterranean-style four-bedroom home in North Capitol Hill for them as a retirement gift. My Mom was looking forward to living in a swanky neighborhood and attending fancy brunches. I knew they were moving to Seattle to stay closer to their grandchildren. The kids spent more time with Carlisle and Esme since they lived a fifteen-minute drive away. It would be amazing to live in the same city. Aiden and Mia could have fun with their second set of grandparents too.

Aiden greeted Uncle Jake and Aunt Leah with similar enthusiasm. Once Aiden finished showing his excitement about the surprise visit, Edward and I greeted everyone with welcoming hugs. My family had visited the vacation home a few times before.

"Grandpa, can we play ball outside? Peese?" Aiden pouted adorably while looking at me for permission.

"Sure!" I smiled. "Just come back by lunchtime. But, Dad, please don't take him to the clearing. Backyard only."

Dad rolled his eyes. "Yes, Bells. I'll take care of him. Skylar, let's go! And you know I've raised two children, right?"

"As one of those children you took to our neighborhood clearing when I was my son's age, yes, I want to clarify a few instructions."

"Parents these days," He shook his head. "Jake and Leah, try not to be so overprotective when it's your turn next," His gaze shifted to my husband. "Edward, is the boat ready? I haven't been fishing in ages. We'll grab a few beers and go after lunch."

Edward chuckled. "Sounds good."

I watched Charlie, Skylar, and Aiden leave for the backyard. My attention diverted to Jacob, who was hovering over Leah. She seemed mad at him. Leah was pregnant and about to enter her third trimester the next week. The pregnancy showed everyone a different side of Leah. While she was always confident, patient, and calm, her pregnancy mood swings were overwhelming.

"How is my nephew doing?" I asked with a smile.

Leah rubbed her protruding belly with a tired sigh. "Oh, he's quite active today. Plus, I have a headache from all the snoring on the flight," She eyed Jake with disdain.

Jake frowned at me. "But I wasn't snoring."

"You were breathing too loud!" She shouted at him, startling everyone.

Mia let out a soft sob before reaching for her Daddy. Edward took Mia in his arms and slowly rocked her. "No, baby girl. Don't cry."

Leah had tears brimming in her eyes. "I'm sorry for making Mia cry. I'm such a bad aunt."

"Leah, don't worry about it," I tried to comfort her. "I'm sure you are tired from the travel. Why don't you rest in one of the guest rooms? Go down the hall and take the first left. It's right next to the library. You can sit and read something if you want. Jake, take her."

My brother led Leah out of the room as he sent me a grateful look. I stifled a chuckle. Renée shook her head with exasperation. "Jesus Christ. Jake has no idea how to handle a pregnant Leah. Edward, how did you do it?"

Edward kissed Mia with a grin. "I just let Bella make all the decisions. But, of course, she had her moments in the later stages," He teased. "But I would give her hot chocolate, and she would be okay. Bella is always low maintenance."

Renée snorted. "That's true."

I frowned. "Is that a bad thing?"

"Makes life easier, love."

"Alright, let me spend some time with my precious granddaughter," Mom whispered as she reclaimed Mia. "Such a pretty baby. You're a mini-Bella, aren't you? She looks so much like you, Bella. Except for the hair and eyes," She chuckled.

I blushed and glanced at my husband, who was already staring at me. "She has her Daddy's eyes."

"I know. And her Nana's. This reminds me, we met Carlisle and Esme for lunch yesterday. I think they are leaving for Italy in two days. They seem excited about attending the wedding."

Edward rolled his eyes. "They wanted a vacation, that's all. I bet they won't stay for the reception. That's a good thing. Mia and Aiden can go with them. The reception is adults-only," He offered a smile. "I'll start with the lunch prep."

Renée smiled fondly toward my husband as he left. She glanced at me with a similar expression. "Edward called us a few days ago saying you were missing us. He arranged the flight, the travel, and everything. Of course, we didn't want to intrude on your vacation, but he was insistent that both sets of grandparents should get equal time with the grandkids," Mom rested her head against Mia. "I've been saying it for the last seven years, but he is one of a kind."

I blushed and smiled shyly. I truly was a lucky person. "Edward is the best."

"Let's sit and chat. It's been ages. I love the al-fresco dining outside. We'll also keep an eye out for Charlie and Aiden."

"I would like that," I stroked Mia's soft hair. "I need to feed Mia and make her lunch. I'll join you in a few minutes. Please take some of her stuffed toys when you leave. She likes to hold one of them when she is eating."

"Sure, honey."

When I entered the kitchen, I inhaled the fragrant aroma of spices and searing beef. I found my handsome husband humming something under his breath as he cooked the ground beef on the skillet. I walked closer to see a peeled sweet potato and carrot in the food steamer. My eyes softened. It was for Mia's lunch. He thought of everything.

"Baby, what are you doing here? Go spend time with Renée," Edward complained with a disapproving frown.

I kissed his shoulder. "I wanted to make Mia's lunch."

"Oh," He nodded toward the steamer. "Seven more minutes."

"Can I help with anything?" I put my hand on his back as I scanned the ingredients around.

"No, just stay with your parents. I haven't cooked since we came here. Everything is fine. I'll try to prepare lunch before Aiden complains about his rumbling tummy."

I smiled. "Sure. Thank you for flying my family here. It was an amazing surprise. I can't wait to spend the week with them. Maybe we can have a date night now that somebody will be here to look after the kids."

A burst of laughter escaped his lips. I frowned curiously. Edward gazed at me with a wistful sigh. "We are always on the same page, my love. I already told Charlie and Renée about our plans for tonight. A movie and a dinner date."

I arched an eyebrow. "We never go on movie dates."

"Well, your parents think we are. But I have different reservations for us."

"I'm listening."

Edward switched off the stove before turning toward me. I gasped when he pulled me flush against him. He connected our lips for a gentle kiss. "I made reservations in a fancy hotel in the Teton Village. It's a twenty-minute drive from here. I need to redeem the girlfriend experience I paid for last night."

My body shivered from excitement, but I maintained a calm demeanor. "We have a surge charge on Sundays," I murmured.

"Fine. Can you wear a tiny costume and get handcuffs? I would like to see you tied up."

I think we left a pair of handcuffs in this house from the last time we visited.

I blushed. "That's the porn-star experience. Additional charges."

"This is just extortion," He grazed his lips against my cheek. "I can swing that. I don't know whether to be disturbed or attracted that you know so much about this."

"I did my research," I giggled. "I'm looking forward to tonight, Mr. Cullen."

"Me too, love."

While Edward and I had numerous responsibilities with work and children, we kept things interesting in our private life. Whether it was bringing crazy sexual scenarios to life or just spending a day on the couch reading, it was important for us to spend time together. It gave us space to reconnect and stay in our bubble. We tried surprising each other, and Edward always bested me with his grand gestures. I always thank the lucky stars that led Edward inside Angela's café that night.

EDWARD

It was a balmy Italian summer night as the sun hid behind the mountain range at fifteen past ten. My seat at the restaurant offered a stunning view of Lake Como and the twinkling city lights that shimmered onto the water body. There was something about Italy that brought a sense of comfort. Maybe it was the air or the people. Either way, I loved visiting the country no matter the occasion.

I tore my eyes away from the scenic setting when I felt something soft touch my left shoulder. Bella tilted her head against me as she giggled at Jasper's detailed explanation about an old incident from college. I kissed her head before taking a deep breath against her fragrant hair. She smelled like home. My home. She continued listening to Jasper but interlaced our hands. I kissed her knuckles and casually stared deeper inside the restaurant. The room was crowded tonight due to the peak tourist season. I could see a few eyes curiously staring at our table before continuing their discussions.

Tanya and Senna insisted that we have an intimate dinner a day before the rehearsal dinner. She wanted to spend a night with just us. Jasper, Alice, Peter, Charlotte, Bella, and I readily agreed since it was their special week. Despite getting engaged two years ago, they waited to manage their schedules and had ample free time before and after the wedding to set the date. It was quite funny to me. Bella and I barely put in any thought when we decided to get married on the same night as our engagement. I wondered if she would ever regret not having a lavish wedding ceremony.

Bella controlled a shiver when a cool breeze wafted at our table. It would get colder in the next hour. I shrugged out of my jacket and wrapped it around my wife. Her beautiful chocolate-brown eyes softened at the gesture. She gently kissed me before tilting her head back on my shoulder. I played with a lock of her hair, listening to Jasper's story half-heartedly. I had heard that one many times before. Finally, I cracked a smile when everybody at the table burst into fits of laughter, drawing attention.

"Oh," Tanya frowned, staring at her phone screen. "Lola's not coming. Her kid has the flu. This sucks."

Senna began typing her name. "Let me text Jamie about it. That's four people down."

"She was already complaining about our no-kids policy at the reception."

I chuckled. "Well, it's quite off-putting, you know. But, of course, if children attend the wedding ceremony, you wouldn't expect them to be excluded from the reception."

Tanya rolled her eyes. "It's going to be a wild reception party. I don't want to get blamed for scarring the children."

"Point taken."

Senna chuckled. "Besides, not many of our close friends have kids. Except for you guys, Emmett-Rose, and my sister."

Bella and I chuckled. Jasper and Alice decided long ago, before their marriage, not to have children. Tanya and Senna loved being the fun aunts rather than raising children. Peter and Charlotte had an on-again-off-again relationship which was going steady for the last three years. There was no way Peter was ready to have children. Charlotte wasn't keen on starting a family either.

"That's true," Bella took a sip of her mocktail. "Our babies have way too many fun uncles and aunts."

Peter laughed. "I could attempt parenting by experimenting with your children. I'll take Aiden and Mia to New York for a few weeks."

I glared at my best friend. "No, thank you."

"Whatever," He grumbled unhappily.

Charlotte laughed and kissed his cheek. "That's alright, babe. We'll babysit them some other time."

Peter's face broke into a teasing grin. "Yeah, that's better than being on a lifetime ban like Alice."

Alice threw a toothpick at him before glowering in our direction. "See what I have to deal with since last year? This is getting out of hand, Edward! But, Bella, I can't believe you aren't taking my side on this one! We're best friends!" She pouted.

Bella straightened in her seat and nodded. "You're right. In the spirit of Tanya and Senna's nuptials, we remove your lifetime ban from babysitting our children."

Alice squealed while clapping her hands. "Yay! I love you, Bella!"

"Bella, what the fuck are you doing?" I hissed angrily. Alice poked her tongue out at me before laughing.

Bella rolled her eyes. "Don't be so dramatic, sweetheart."

"Let me remind you why she was banned," I said, making everyone groan at the table. "That's right, everyone knows the story, but I'll jolt your memories. Alice told Aiden that there are two queens in the world: Rihanna and Beyonce. Aiden gave the same answer in preschool, and we were called to discuss his exposure to pop culture. His preschool teacher wanted us to attend a parenting seminar."

Alice huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest. "It's the truth!"

"He's four!" I threw my hands up in exasperation. "You still don't get it, do you?"

Jasper intervened. "Alright, let's find common ground. Alice can babysit the kids when I am around; how about that?"

The suggestion appeased me. "Fine, that works."

"This is so insulting! I am your sister, Edward Anthony Cullen. I only want to cuddle and play with my nephew and niece."

Charlotte sighed with a hand over her heart. "Aw, that is so sweet."

I waved her off. "She has used that line before, don't worry about it."

Bella lightly slapped my chest as she laughed with the others. The table went quiet as dessert arrived. I finished my dessert within a few bites and reluctantly ate half of Bella's Pastiera Napoletana and vanilla ice cream. My wife never finishes her last course. After taking the last sip of my wine, I was done for the night. Bella wrapped her arms around my neck with a tired sigh. I lightly caressed her flushed cheek with my thumb. She was so beautiful. My eyes drifted toward the plunging neckline of her little black dress before staring at her gorgeous face.

"Sleepy?" I smiled.

She shrugged. "A little. I think I'll nap during the one-hour car ride back to the hotel. We have the whole night to ourselves after a long time."

My lips curled into a relieved smile. Our plans were still on for tonight. "I know, love."

Tanya paid the bill while the manager arrived with a thoughtful face. I knew he wanted to address the table as he didn't approach me or Alice—the only people who knew Italian. He thanked us for visiting the restaurant and introduced us to the Head Chef of the Michelin-star restaurant. We thanked them for the professional service and delicious food.

"A large crowd of photographers and people are gathered outside," The manager said in his thick Italian accent. "If we can contact your security to manage the crowd… that would be helpful."

"Of course," I texted Stefan to meet the manager at the reception. "My security will see you at the reception."

"Thank you, Mr. Cullen."

Peter cleared his throat. "Do you know how many people are outside? A ballpark figure?"

The manager smiled nervously. "Around 90-100."

"Jesus fucking Christ," Jasper muttered with a shake.

I stared at Peter until he gave me a defeated look. "You were right, Ed."

"I'm not going to say I told you so because that mob of people outside will do that for me."

Bella frowned at me. "What happened, sweetheart?"

I ran a hand through my hair. "I warned Peter we shouldn't have brought our cars here. An enclosed boat would've been safer. Tanya's wedding is already generating attention, and this moron is a big star or whatever," I motioned to Peter.

Peter tsked, disapproving of my comment. "This is because of the two of you," He pointed at Bella and me. "You are not in the public eye that often. The more you try to keep things private, the more attention you gather. You and Jasper are running one of the most successful global companies. To think of it, you—"

Charlotte cut him off. "Alright, all of you are equally responsible for the crowd outside. Can we please leave now? The longer we stay, the more people will gather."

Everyone murmured in agreement before leaving the table. My Bella offered me a smile as she tried to hide her nerves. I knew she got anxious when even a single camera pointed in her direction. She put on a brave face during any red-carpet events, but getting photographed during our private outings was her worst nightmare.

Bella interlaced our hands in a tight grip. She adjusted my jacket around her frame before taking a deep breath. Everyone said their goodbyes at the reception as we left in separate cars. The villas were located in various directions at the hotel where Tanya and Senna were getting married in two days. Ours was close to my parents, who looked after the kids tonight.

As the cars arrived at the entrance, Tanya and Senna were the first to leave. I could see a few women stretching their arms to touch my best friend. Stefan remained a step ahead as he led from the restaurant's entrance. Bella tightened her hold on my hand, hearing people yell her name. While I was immune to seeing people taking photographs, even I was slightly surprised to see the sheer number of people surrounding the restaurant and our car.

Bella was shaking as we settled into the safe confines of our car. It took a few minutes to get rid of the people around the car before we were away from the chaos. I gently shifted Bella onto my lap, who curled against me. I rubbed her back soothingly, and her teary gaze met mine.

"That was more than usual, right?" Bella murmured. "I—I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm crying," A tear trickled down her cheek. "The camera flashes, and the noise is a bit overwhelming."

"I know, baby. You don't have to apologize," I wiped away her tear. "I know it was too much tonight. Don't worry. We'll be home in no time. Do you want to rest your eyes?"

Bella snuggled against me with a sigh. "Once every few months, this happens when we're in LA or New York. It makes me uncomfortable. This lifestyle is not us. I love our life in Seattle. Our little family. Nobody to photograph our babies or us."

"I'm sorry." I kissed her forehead. "I wish I could make it stop."

She stifled a yawn. "It's not your fault."

My wife shut her eyes, and I watched her beautiful face in the moonlight as she drifted off to sleep. I knew she would forget about it after waking up. She had a few minutes of anxiety every time but overcame it. We had endured a lot worse than some strangers taking our photos. My wife was the strongest woman I knew. She could do anything.

We entered the private gates of the castle, which was converted into a hotel. Tanya and Senna were getting married in a stunning European castle. The car drove for another mile before stopping outside our villa. Bella stretched a little as her eyes fluttered open. She stared outside before reaching to grab her heels.

"Should we go check on the kids?" Bella mused as we stepped out of the car.

"Mom texted me a while ago that she and Dad are heading to bed. So let's not wake them up."

Bella and I entered our villa, and the house came to life. Bella shrugged off my jacket while dropping her heels by the couch. She made a beeline for the private terrace while I put our phones and her purse on the bed. I stepped onto the terrace to see Bella's dress and lingerie lying on the floor as she offered me an inviting smile from the jacuzzi.

"Come on, Mr. Cullen. We have a whole night to ourselves. Let's not put it to waste."

My erection stirred as I began unbuttoning my shirt. "Oh, you don't have to say it twice, Mrs. Cullen."

The next morning, I gained consciousness in a quiet room. My eyes fluttered open to see my beautiful naked wife fast asleep under the sheets. It had been ages since we had a slow morning. I slid closer to Bella before hiding my face against the crook of her warm neck. I took a deep breath against her with a smile. I heard Bella sigh as she stroked my hair.

"What time is it, sweetheart?" Bella whispered groggily.

I chuckled. "I have no idea."

"Hmm," She kissed my wedding band. "Good morning."

"Morning, baby," I brushed my hand against her breast, savoring her warm, slender body underneath me. For a moment, it reminded me of our mornings waking up in that lighthouse in Spain during our honeymoon. Then, it was just the two of us in the middle of nowhere.

"You know, staring at the lake from our window reminds me of that Spanish lighthouse. It was so beautiful," Bella whispered, making me chuckle.

"I was thinking of the same thing, Bella."

She giggled. "Oh, I love you so much."

"I love you more," I leaned on my elbow to connect our lips for a gentle kiss. Our lips barely touched when there was pounding at the front door. And we were back at a villa in Lake Como, where our children were wide awake to start their morning.

Bella pecked my lips and smiled. "Let's get dressed. Come on."

"Two months to go," I murmured, indicating our mini-vacation for our sixth wedding anniversary.

"Just two months." She patted my cheek before pointing to the closet.

I wore my sweatpants and t-shirt before heading to the entrance while Bella rushed to the bathroom with her clothes. When the front door opened, Aiden ran inside and disappeared from my sight within seconds. I shook my head at his morning energy. Mom stared after him with an amused grin.

"Aiden is so much like you, Edward," Mom whispered.

It warmed my heart when my parents said that. Although Bella and I weren't his birth parents, Aiden was our son. We loved him more than anything else in this world. Our sweet little boy.

"Da-Da!" Mia demanded attention from her position in my mother's arms. She stretched her arms toward me with a whimper. I noticed big tears in her soulful green eyes.

I gathered my beautiful baby girl in my arms. She clutched my t-shirt as her eyes looked around, searching for Bella. I kissed her cheek. "Hi, Mia. What's wrong, my love? Are you looking for Mommy?"

"Ma-Ma," My baby whispered, putting her head on my shoulder.

I smiled at my mother. "Thanks, Ma. I'll take her inside now."

"I just had two bottles from yesterday, so I had to bring Mia here for her meal. I'm sorry; I know you would've wanted a peaceful morning."

"It was nice to not wake up to a toddler jumping into bed or hearing someone crying on the baby monitor," I laughed. "That's alright. Thank you for giving us a night off. We'll see you at breakfast. There's a buffet, right?"

"Yeah, somebody from service will take you there."

I frowned curiously. "Where's Sky?"

"Carlisle went for a jog and took Skylar with him. She was excited to go."

"Skylar loves running." I smiled fondly. "Alright, we'll let you go now. Mia, say bye to Nana."

Mia offered a half-hearted wave as she pointed inside the villa. Mom chuckled and kissed her head before leaving. I shut the door and carried Mia toward the bedroom. Her green eyes were quietly staring around, carefully peering at her surroundings. She was an observant little thing, like her Mommy. As soon as we entered the Master Bedroom, she let out a piercing cry looking at Bella—who was making the bed.

Bella put her task on hold as she gazed at us. Then, her eyes softened, staring at our baby. "What happened, baby? Were you missing Mommy? Come here," Mia willingly went into her arms, and Bella gently rocked her. "Not my strong Mia. Are you hungry, sweetie?"

I touched our baby's soft head. "I'll heat up her bottle and—"

"It's fine, Edward. I'll just feed her." She kissed my cheek. "Where is our other child? Is he still at Esme and Carlisle's?"

"Aiden went straight to his room; I don't know why. I'll go check on him."

"Please do."

Bella settled on the bed with Mia cradled in her arms. She unbuttoned her pajama shirt before helping our daughter latch on. Mia went quiet as she got engrossed in her meal. Bella and I simultaneously gazed at the doorway when Aiden sprinted inside in just his undies. I threw my head back and laughed.

"Aid, what happened to your clothes?"

Aiden bounced on his toes. "Daddy, I wanna take a shower! Nana and Papa say there are donuts at the big breakfast! I wanna have donuts! And then Ava shows me her new game!"

I lifted Aiden in my arms and kissed his cheek. "Alright, it seems like you have a schedule to get through. So let's get started."

"Bye, Mommy!" Aiden giggled as I threw him over my shoulder.

"Bye, baby. I still need my morning snuggles. Edward, give his hair a proper wash."

"Yes, ma'am."

Tanya and Senna had the wedding of their dreams over the weekend overlooking Lake Como. It was a moving ceremony with a lot of tears and laughter. Tanya had chosen Peter and me to participate in her bridal party. She called us the bride's attendants. Jasper was given the chance to officiate the wedding. Peter and I had to deal with Senna's flirtatious sisters, her bridesmaids. We maintained our distance where possible. It was like they couldn't see the wedding band on my finger.

My parents planned to leave with the children before the wedding reception. Ava and Aiden readily agreed since they were bored. Jack was reluctant to leave.

"Dad, I'm a grown-up now! I'm the oldest one here!" An almost eleven-year-old Jack claimed with a stubborn look.

Emmett sighed. "Jack, I'm not listening to you. Don't you have to start on your summer project? Your school starts in two weeks. Go with Nana and Papa. Take their help."

"But—"

"No," Rosalie said with finality, making him sigh.

I put my hand on Jack's shoulder. "You are quite mature for your age, Jack, but the party might go on a little longer than expected. You don't want to be tired for tomorrow. We have to go mini-golfing early morning, remember?"

His blue eyes lit up. "Yeah! I forgot about that! Are we going with Papa?" He asked subtly while his eyes glanced at my little Aiden. Oh.

"No, bud. It's just the two of us. We'll get snow cones. It'll be fun."

"Yes!" Jack hugged me around the waist, and I chuckled. He was so much like Emmett. "Can we also get—"

"Daddy!" Aiden ran toward me with a boyish grin.

"Just a minute, Jack."

I smiled as I lifted my son in my arms. "Daddy, Mia, and I gonna go with Nana and Papa. Nana pomise we watch movie wif pop-corn."

"Wow, that sounds like a great plan," I kissed his forehead. "Have fun, and don't cause any trouble."

"Daddy, Ava, make me pay wif dollies, and we make bracelets," He wrinkled his nose.

I stifled a laugh. "Well, why don't you show Ava your games? Maybe you can play with trains instead of dolls."

He shrugged. "I'll try." God, I loved my kid's dry humor.

"Be good, Aid. I love you."

Aiden kissed my cheek. "Love you lots, Daddy. Bye."

"Give Mommy a kiss before you go," I put Aiden on his feet so he could skip toward Bella. "Sorry, Jack. What were you saying?"

Jack shrugged. "It's nothing. I'll see you tomorrow."

I stared after Jack's retreated form with a bittersweet smile. Jack has been the center of attention in my house for as long as I can remember. I loved Ava, but she was closer to Bella than me. She loved her Aunt Bella. Jack somehow felt threatened when Aiden came home. He was quite outspoken about how Aiden stole me away from him. He wasn't close to Aiden like Ava was. Ava was only a year older than Aiden, so they got along with each other. It made my heart heavy to think that Jack felt like I neglected him. But, Aiden had difficult early years and needed more of our love and attention. Of course, I would spend more time with my little boy. Things would've been different if Aiden had been home a few years early. Jack would know how to share his time with somebody else. I tried to make time for Jack and me to do something fun twice a month. It was the time when nobody else was invited on our adventures. Jack enjoyed that time with me.

Once the kids left, Tanya and Senna dragged us into taking photos. I sat next between Alice and Bella at the bridal party table while dinner was served. Tanya and Senna wanted to sit with their parents. Bella put her head on my shoulder as she listened to Tanya's father's speech. I smiled to myself. Bella and Mia had the same mannerisms.

"Bella?"

She smiled. "Hmm?"

"Do you ever think we should've had a big wedding?"

Her hand interlaced with mine. "Not even for a second. I will always love our sweet backyard wedding. It was like a fairytale."

I grinned, appeased by her response. I kissed her hair. "I feel the same way."

Alice scoffed next to me. "You should've gotten married somewhere on a mountain at sunset."

I threw her a glare. "Stop listening to our private conversation."

Bella turned red as she stole a glance at my sister before returning focus to the speech. Alice did plan Tanya and Senna's wedding to perfection. Since my mother had semi-retired from the job, Alice had taken over the reins of the business. I was proud of my sister and the success she had achieved. However, I could do without the unnecessary celebrity gossip she shared despite signing confidentiality contracts.

Peter and I made a joint speech before Senna's sister spoke. Once the meals finished and the first dance ended, I took Bella to the dance floor. She readily agreed since I never took no for an answer. I remember dancing with her for the first time in her parent's living room in Forks after Jake and Leah's wedding. Fuck, it seems like it happened ages ago and yesterday at the same time.

Bella laughed as I whirled her on the dance floor to the upbeat music. Her hearty laughter drew some attention as curious eyes gazed at us. I brought Bella into my arms and passionately kissed her. I touched her beautiful face before securing my arms around her waist. I wasn't planning to share her with anybody for the rest of the night. The reception was converted to an after-party for close friends when the guests had retreated to their accommodation. We stayed up dancing, drinking, laughing, and enjoying ourselves with friends and family.

Two days later, I found myself in my favorite place: my grandparent's home in Polignano a Mare. This home was important; it was special. I spent most of my summers at this home as a child, celebrated important festivals growing up, brought Bella here after our honeymoon, and now our children love visiting the same home.

I wrapped my virtual meeting for the night before making a beeline for the kids' room. I leaned against the doorway, watching my beautiful Bella playing with our children. She was building blocks with Aiden while Mia watched in delight. Our baby was holding Skylar's fur tightly to keep her close. The sight made my heart soar. There was a time when Bella and I thought we could never be parents. Now, we had two gorgeous children who were perfect. Bella was the best mother our kids could ask for.

My eyes drifted toward the kitchen terrace, and I did a double-taking in its direction. Then, finally, I quietly walked toward the expansive terrace overlooking the gorgeous water body. This was my favorite view from the house. The mountains, glazing water, and stone buildings were a sight. I gazed at my Nonna, staring toward the mountains with a bittersweet smile as she drank tea.

"Hey, Nonna."

Nonna grinned at me as she put her cup away. "Carino, are you finished with your meeting? That's great. Come sit. Would you like some tea? I was planning to make some for Victor and—" She paused and blinked a few times. Her lips curled into a sad smile. "There I go again. It's been almost a year; I can't believe I still do this."

My eyes instantly welled with tears. It was a trigger point for me. My Grandpa Victor passed away a year ago. He died peacefully in his sleep, but it still came as a shock to everyone. It was quite tricky since Bella was pregnant, and we were on edge about having a healthy pregnancy after three miscarriages. It was difficult to fathom that he was gone. Growing up, Grandpa Victor and Nonna Ginevra were my whole world. I still saw him sometimes, flashes of him around me. Or heard his laughter in the air. I missed him. I had never imagined my life without my grandparents; it felt like something had gone missing.

"Edward," Nonna squeezed my hand. "Sit with me."

I couldn't imagine what Nonna had been going through. Nonna and Grandpa were stuck to the hip for as long as I could remember. To keep her company, Nonna had Zia Amara, the housekeeper, but she must be lonely.

"How are you, Nonna?" I whispered, swallowing the lump in my throat.

"I'm okay, sweet boy," She touched my face. "Of course, I miss Victor, but that's alright. I see him in my dreams every night. He's been visiting a lot lately. Maybe he's calling me to him," She chuckled.

I glared at her through my tears. "Don't say that!"

"Oh, Edward. I'm not going to live forever."

"Yes, you are. You are going to outlive me."

Nonna laughed heartily. "Okay. How was your day at the beach? I wish I was there, but my joints are a pain."

Her distraction worked as I composed myself. "The kids had fun. Aiden forced Zia Amara to come with us. Mia loves her company too. Bella and I went to get ice cream for everyone, and a woman thought we were newlyweds." I rolled my eyes and chuckled.

"Of course she did," My grandmother smiled. "You still behave like newlyweds."

"No, we don't," I frowned. "Do we?"

"I don't mean it in a bad way, Edward. Despite kids and responsibilities, it's important to keep the romance going. You know, Alice made social media accounts for me to keep an eye on the internet."

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. "I'm sure the internet will be on its best behavior then."

She slapped my arm. "You know what I mean. I keep an eye on all the grandchildren. See what articles the internet posts about you. She put something on all your names so I know when something happens. It's called—" Nonna tried hard to recall the word.

"Alert, Nonna. Alert."

"È corretto! People are very interested in your marriage. I was just reading something the other day. Let me show you."

I stifled a groan. "Nonna, Bella, and I don't read what is published—"

She shushed me. "You will listen to it because I don't understand the meaning."

Fuck, it could be anything inappropriate. Jesus fucking Christ! Why would Alice do this? She knew how nosy Nonna was!

My grandmother wore her reading glasses as she unlocked her phone. I patiently watched her scroll through something. My attention was diverted when Skylar approached the terrace and made a beeline for me. I kissed her furry head with a sigh. She put her paws on my knee to stretch in my direction. Knowing what she wanted, I fed her a treat from the jar before me.

"Sky, baby, we'll go on a hike early morning. I know you love going on a walk with the kids, but you miss the hikes. So we'll have a special outing, just us," I stroked her back. "I love you so much." Skylar nuzzled my hand, making me smile. "I know, sweet girl. You love me too," Her head whipped toward the kitchen when Aiden called her name. She pranced inside the house again. "Ugh, my kids took my precious Skylar away from me."

"Here is one," Nonna peered closely at her screen. "Don't ask me to be a third unless you are Edward Cullen and Bella Swan," She stared at my ashen face. "What does that mean, Carino? On a date? That's so sweet of her to want to meet you. Should I message her a reply?"

"No!" I whispered in a horrorstruck voice. "Don't text anybody on the internet! Ever!"

"Okay, okay," She rolled her eyes. "It's still nice to see that people want to go on a double date with you and Bella as a third."

"That's not what it means," I buried my face in my hands. "Please don't read anything more."

"Someone wants you to step on her. That sounds violent. Oh, here's another one. Edward Cullen can split me in half. Edward, do you get into a lot of fights?"

"No, Nonna," I mumbled as I controlled a shudder. What was wrong with people? Somebody might tell my children about these when they are older. "Please stop reading."

"Fine! If you can't explain the meaning, it's useless. I will ask Alice when she visits next month."

I sighed with relief. "Thank you for sparing me."

"It feels so great to have you here, Edward. I would ask you to visit more often, but I know it won't be possible."

I looked up and twisted a little in her direction. It was time to ask her. "Ma wants you to fly to Seattle with us. Spend a few months there."

"You know I won't," She gave me an amused grin. "I want to spend my time here. In this home. Victor and I built this home together. It has our memories here. I can't abandon them."

"Nonna, you are all alone. I don't like it," I admitted.

"I'm not alone. I have friends in the neighborhood and a wonderful family who checks in with me every other day. Amara takes care of me. Everything is fine. I like sitting on this terrace and thinking of my evenings with Victor. I think I know I won't be around for long. It's making me want to stay here and savor this town."

My stomach dropped. "Can you please stop saying that?" I felt tears gather in my eyes. "You are a very important part of my life. You have to see my children grow up. Grandpa Victor was supposed to be here. He only met Aiden twice," I wiped away the tear from the corner of my eye. "Grandpa never met Mia. He would've loved my baby girl. You can't leave me too," A sad smile tugged on my lips. "I remember sitting here during my college days and telling you how we will sit in this spot with my children. And he's gone."

"Edward, your grandfather is around us. I'm sure he is happy to see you be such a wonderful father and husband. You have grown up with our values and lessons and will pass them on to your children. Victor and I were there for you through thick and thin all your life. But now, you have a family of your own. They are a beautiful little family. We can't be around forever. It's time to let go. We will always be a part of you. It's time to focus on the present and the future."

I glanced at my Nonna, who had tears on her cheeks. She held a loving smile, looking at me with the same adoration she did when I was a child. My ears perked, hearing little feet pattering toward the terrace. Aiden carefully descended the three stairs before running toward me with open arms. My heart melted, staring at the unbridled joy in his smile.

"Daddy!" Aiden giggled as I held him on my lap for a tight squeeze. I kissed his cheek soundly. "Daddy, a boat!" He pointed toward the sea.

"I know, bud. Maybe we can go on a boat ride tomorrow evening. You can see the buildings up close." I kissed his hair. "There is a place on that side," I pointed to the far end. "That makes the best pepperoni pizza ever! Do you know who likes pepperoni pizza?"

Aiden raised his hand. "Me! But Daddy, Mommy says you make the best pepponi pizza," He looked confused.

I couldn't help but laugh. "It's better than Daddy's pizza. So we'll go tomorrow, and you can have a big slice, alright?"

"With lots of cheese."

Ugh, Aiden loved lots of cheese like Bella. I tried not to grimace. "Sure, baby boy."

Aiden turned on my lap to glance at Nonna. He frowned. "Nonna, why are you sad?"

I curiously glanced at my grandmother, who had tears in her eyes. Nonna shook her head. "It's nothing, little Aiden."

"Daddy says that it's okay to have a good cry. It makes us less sad," Aiden explained as he crawled toward my grandmother. He hugged her, and she smiled at me through tears. My heart felt heavy at the sight. It was the same thing Nonna told me as a child, and now Aiden was comforting her with her words.

"Don't worry, Aiden. These are happy tears. Life always comes full circle, I suppose," Nonna chuckled. She kissed his hair. "Teach them Italian, please."

I smiled through my tears. "I promise."

Aiden forgot about the hug hearing a loud boom in the sky. Instead, he gasped in delight when the sky lit up with fireworks. He returned to my lap and clapped at the show. His hazel eyes sparkled, staring at the glittering lights that shone from afar. It was probably from a wedding ceremony. There were a lot of summer weddings in town this week.

"Daddy, so pretty!" Aiden kept pointing at his favorite streaks and colors until the show stopped. He pouted sadly. "Small show."

I chuckled. "I know. Small show. That's alright. We'll see the fireworks someday soon. It's important not to have too many fireworks shows. It's bad for the environment. It makes the air go bad. And we breathe the same air. It also scares the animals. Skylar feels scared too, Aid."

Aiden gasped. "Daddy, I'm gonna go tell Sky that fireworks stop now." He urgently hopped off my lap before running back inside.

Nonna sighed loudly. "Aiden is a special boy. Sensitive and smart. Like his father. And a talented baker, I might add. He can make a career as a pâtissier, you know."

"He has a good arm too. We play baseball thrice a week, and he is on a tee-ball team," I said proudly. "Aiden can do whatever he wants. I won't decide things for him as somebody did for me. He plays the piano too. Who knows what he will do? But, a terrible painter. Jesus Christ, his shapes and drawings never make sense."

"Kids are precious at this age. You are going to make some unforgettable memories with them." She said with a smile.

Bella entered the terrace holding our baby on her hip. Mia was sucking on her teeth ring as her big green eyes were transfixed toward the view before her. She stretched an arm toward me. "Da-Da! Da-Da!"

"Mia missed her Daddy," Bella whispered as she passed our daughter to me. Mia cooed as she touched my lips. I kissed her palm, making her giggle.

"Does my baby miss me?" I made Mia stand on my lap. She babbled in her language, staring at me. "I'm sorry I was busy with boring work, my love. Daddy is all yours for the next two days," I put two fingers on her arm, and she giggled heartily.

Bella chuckled. "She knows what's coming."

"Do you, Mia?" I whispered and pressed on her gentle arm. Mia loved it whenever I sang the Itsy-Bitsy Spider while crawling my fingers on her arms or legs. She was so attuned to movements she laughed even before I sang the rhyme. We tried singing her a few new songs, but our daughter loved the classics.

"… and climbed up the spout again!" I tickled Mia's stomach, and she giggled her familiar, beautiful laughter. Hearing my children laugh was the most beautiful sound in the world.

"Daddy! I got Sky!" Aiden said with a triumphant grin when he entered the terrace with Skylar at his side. I couldn't help but smile. Skylar walked toward Bella, who knelt to give her a proper hug.

"My poor baby. You're okay now, Skylar. Everyone's here, and there are no more fireworks," Bella kissed her head.

"Mia, move!" Aiden complained, trying to make space on my lap. "Daddy, Mia, take so much space! I was sitting first!"

I shook my head. "Aid, there's ample space for you. Just a moment," I made Mia sit on one side while Aiden sat on my other knee. "There we go. See? Mia is so happy to sit with you," My baby girl tried to share her teething ring with her brother.

"Mia, make it yucky like my puzzle piece, Mommy!" Aiden pouted.

"Mia is teething, baby," Bella explained to him for the hundredth time as she cleaned our daughter's face with a soft napkin. "She's getting a new tooth. That's why she's drooling."

Aiden hugged Mia and kissed her cheek. "Kay. I still love you, Mia. I'm gonna ask Santa to give you all teeth so you can stop making my games and blocks yucky."

Bella and I laughed at his comment. I expected my grandmother to laugh, but she didn't join. I turned toward the couch, but she wasn't sitting beside me. Instead, I found her climbing the steps to return inside. Nonna offered me a parting smile before she went to the kitchen. I didn't dwell on the bittersweet feeling as I focused on the present. Bella sat on the empty seat Nonna vacated and kissed my cheek. I stared at her beautiful face, which never failed to make my heart happy. The wind in her hair, her chocolate brown eyes radiating light, and the faint blush on her cheeks, just like the day I met her. So fucking beautiful.

"I love you," I murmured as I touched my forehead to hers.

"I love you too. So much," Bella whispered back before kissing me gently.
