Primalbit22: Sadly, the Zerg will not make an appearance, my friend, but fortunately for you, two vastly different worlds will finally meet. But the Zerg invasion, hehe, they will come. That I promise you.

Something unexpected

Aboard the Twilight are Anakin, Ahsoka, Captain Rex, a squad of clones of the 501st, and the new Astromech droid R3, though Anakin refuses to accept it as R2's replacement. Where its very presence is more like a curse than an actual asset. More than once, the golden astromech tried to either do something wrong to get him or his padawan killed or was too slow to act. And already he wishes R2 was here instead of Stubby, who is slowly getting on his nerves. Anakin stood near the two pilots' chairs, looking out into the vastness of space, with Rex and another clone piloting the bucket of bolts. Meanwhile, Ahsoka and R3 were listening for any enemy transmissions, hoping for the separatists to slip up.

The silence continued until Rex looked up at Anakin after checking the area. "We've searched their supply grids, sir. There's nothing to indicate an enemy outpost."

Anakin frowned at this. There was one out there; he just knew it. If only he had R2 with him. Behind the Jedi Knight, Ahoska continued to listen for any transmissions when one started to bleep in her montrals, causing her to frown and lean her head away. She then brought it to her master's attention.

"Master, I'm receiving a strange transmission. I can't seem to make it out, though." She said this, catching Anakin's immediate attention as R3 beeped. She pressed a button above the console that R3 was plugged into to let Anakin hear the transmission. She then smiled at R3. "Boost the volume, Goldie."

The black and gold astromech beeped in reply before he started to lower and lose the volume.

Anakin's eyes widened, mentally wondering if this droid was somehow defective for getting the opposite idea of what his padawan Ahsoka wanted. R2 would never do that.

"No! You're losing it!" He rushed over and pressed a button, locking onto the transmission as well as boosting its volume, where they heard a familiar whistle from a certain blue and white astromech that made Anakin's expression light up with hope. "That's R2!"

"Uh..." Ahsoka said, sounding unsure. "That doesn't sound like R2."

However, Anakin wasn't deterred from finding his droid and best friend. 'It's him. I could never forget that voice," he replied, turning to Rex. "Trace it, Rex."

The captain nodded and got to it. "Sir."

"Master, our orders were to find the Separatist listening post," she reminded him.

Anakin smirked at her. "Maybe R2 is at the listening post. Did you consider that?" he asked cheekily, causing Ahsoka to pout at him with annoyance that made him chuckle.

"We've got a lock on the droid's location, sir," Rex reported, causing Anakin to smile.

"Prepare to jump to those coordinates," he ordered.

"Yes sir." As the clones got to work, Anakin stared out into space with a look of hope and relief. The hope that R2 can be found and brought back home in one piece, the relief that they had found the droid via transmission R2 sent, which meant they wouldn't be finding him in pieces or worse, destroyed

"Hold on, R2," he whispered. "We're coming."

The twilight then shot off into hyperspace towards R2's supposed location.

Ruusan was a planet in the Mid-rim most famous for the Ruusan campaign, the last stand of the Brotherhood of Darkness under Lord Kaan, and the birthplace of Darth Bane's Order of the Sith Lords. The planet lent its name to the Ruusan reformations enacted after the battle.

Originally a temperate, pleasant world with rivers and forests. It was inhabited by Ruusanians, humans, and a strange sentient species known as bouncers. The fauna included some insects and other bugs. Mineral deposits proved disappointing, but they were the only source for the Russan crystal. The planet had three moons, referred to by the locals as the 'three sisters.' Smugglers claimed that at least one of the moons had the ruins of an ancient civilization. Vegetation included some low-growing bushes with some scent; they had the potential to provide aromatic oils, although nobody cared to enter this procedure. Lichen could grow on some rocks. As in the mornings, the planet's landscape was painted in lavender and gold colors by the light of its rising sun.

First colonized between 15,000 BBY and 8000 BBY, sometime between the Kymoondon Era and the Rianitus Period. But in 2200 BBY, Ruusan was one of the ore-rich planets of the Teraab sector claimed by the mining guild until the planet proved disappointing. All that remained on the planet were a few optimistic claim jumpers and fugitives. However, in the year 1000 BBY, it was the site of seven battles between the Sith's Brotherhood of Darkness and the Jedi's Army of Light, destroying much of the planet's surface, including vegetation and several cities, in the process. It was the host of a number of ancient relics, strewn across many historical battlefields.

Despite the devastation, the expanding nebula of the sector erased the hyperlanes connecting Ruusan and the world and was quickly forgotten as the Galactic Republic turned inward. Isolation and crossbreeding among the inhabitants produced a near-human population that became known as the Ruusanians. Shifting nebulae within the stellar nursery of the Teraab soon erased hyperspace routes to Russan, leaving it inaccessible from the galaxy at large. Until now.

Above the planet, the Twilight flew. Inside the cockpit, Rex pulled up a map of the system and showed Anakin what had been found as well as where R2's transmission came from. "Sir, the last transmission came from that moon's upper atmosphere, directly ahead."

Anakin frowned as he saw the image of a sphere-shaped object and recognized it instantly. "That's a separatist battle sphere."

"I'm picking up a lot of encrypted chatter," Ahsoka informed him, getting a nod from Anakin.

"Contact Obi-Wan," he said, looking at R3. "Stubby, scramble secret code set 1477. I don't want that station to pick this up."

From the in-built holo-device at the cockpit's controls, an image of Obi-Wan was displayed, placing his fists on his hips. "Anakin?"

"Master, I believe we've found your Separatist listening post," Anakin said with a smirk.

Obi-Wan nodded in approval at this. "Excellent work. Back off and wait. I'll send two mainline cruisers to help you destroy it."

"But R2?" Ahsoka said it hesitantly. Quietly pointed out to Anakin, upon realizing R2 would be destroyed and getting a nod from the Jedi general as he turned his attention back to Obi-Wan.

"We believe my droid, R2, is on board." He told his master, hoping they could rescue R2 first. "He's the one that led us here."

Obi-wan frowned and cupped his chin, stroking his beard. It was something Anakin knew Obi-Wan did when he was thinking, contemplating, or in deep thought. "Hmm, this complicates things. You must sneak aboard that station and destroy it before they crack R2's memory banks." The Jedi master saw Anakin's expression and his own soften, but his tone still held sternness, a firm voice, as well as understanding. "I know you're fond of that droid, but he's fallen into enemy hands."

Anakin internally sighed, knowing Obi-Wan was right. But they had to rescue R2, especially since Anakin never wiped R2's memory, which was full of Republic secrets the Separatists should never get their hands on, for it could turn the entire war effort around in the Separatists' favor. So that meant one thing: "I could rescue R2." Anakin suggested slowly.

"No, this is not a rescue mission." Obi-Wan immediately shot that idea down with a look at Anakin before his hologram form fizzled out, the contact ending there.

Trying not to look deterred, Anakin turned to Rex. "Keep jamming their scanners. If they spot us, we're dead." Anakin told the clone captain, who nodded in reply.

As the freighter flew towards the moon, Ahsoka and her master, along with R3, Rex, and a few clones, made their way to the cargo hold where Anakin's yellow Jedi Starfighter was located. Everyone is packing up for their mission to get aboard the station and destroy it. However, as they prepared, Rex noticed Ahsoka was kneeling beside R3.

"We're bringing the droid?" he asked, raising a single eyebrow.

"We'll need Goldie to open secured hatches and access the station's computer for us." Ahsoka pointed that out while standing up, and Rex nodded, seeing the logic in that. However, Ahsoka then shot him a grin. "Oh, and, Rex, you get to carry him." She told him before walking away.

Rex's eyes widened a little, and he looked at R3, who beeped and whistled. Mentally, the clone captain groaned. On the outside, he just exhaled, shooting a small, annoyed look at his brother when he saw them snicker and chuckle at his assigned job as a droid carrier. "Ah, that's just great," he mumbled.

After getting ready, the cargo door opened up, and they all took a step outside. "Follow me, boys!" Ahsoka yelled, smiling, before running toward the edge of the ship. And without second thought jumping over the edge and into the storm clouds. Enjoying the feeling of the rush and the wind against her skin as she fell through the sky while Anakin looked at the clone troopers who were a little surprised that he didn't go first before going right after her.

The moon's turbulent atmosphere with frequent lightning storms as they pass through the giant clouds. A small spark of fear erupted in her stomach worrying that one of those lightning bolts might hit one of their strike team. Electrocuting one of them to death. But whatever fear she might've shown was replaced with anticipation and calmness.

After free-falling for a little over an hour, Anakin soon managed to catch up to her. At the same time, coming through the dense clouds, the separatist's battle sphere came into sight. Anakin turned to Ahsoka, who already know what to do. After they ended up passing a window with a few battle droids who, luckily, never caught sight of them. The two Jedi used the force to land on the station's surface without harm. The clones landed a few seconds later with their jet packs, with Rex tumbling over backward when he landed.

"Next time, you're lugging this astromech around!" He said this, pointing to his brother beside him. But the other clones just chuckled at their captain's expense.

Anakin ignited his lightsaber and used it to cut a man-sized hole. They jumped in and were followed by the clones, with Rex and R3 unhooking R3 and setting the droid down with a thud. resulting in them coming in last as they made their way down the corridor. Eventually coming across two B1 battle droids in the middle of a conversation.

"All this moisture is corroding my servo-motors." One droid complained to another.

"Go to level eight. Get your head adjusted. It feels great." The other droid suggested the first.

"That'll feel great," the first droid started before one of the clones grabbed its head and snapped it off with little to no effort.

"What the!" the second droid started, surprised. Only to be shot by Rex. They started running in the opposite direction from where the droids were, soon coming upon an astromech console.

"All right, Stubby. Get to work." Anakin told R3, who plugged in and brought up a hologram of the station.

"We are here," Rex said to them, pointing at an area before continuing. "The reactors are 30 levels below us, there." He pointed to an area lower on the battle sphere.

"Ahsoka, you take a squad and blow up the reactors. Gravity will do the rest. We'll meet in the landing bay." Anakin said to her, handing over the backpack filled with demolition charges.

"Where are you going?" Ahsoka asked her master, starting to slip on the pack.

"I'm just going to have a little around," he replied nonchalantly, and Ahsoka just smirked.

"I hope you find R2 in one piece." She said, slipping the pack on all the way.

"Get going, Snips," he said to her before running off to find his close friend.

"Looks like it's up to us to complete the mission, as usual," she said to the others. Ahsoka, along with R3 and the clones, made their way to the reactor so they could destroy the separatist battle sphere once and for all. It wasn't until one of the clones noticed something off. "Wait," he called out; the others stopped as well and looked at him. "Where's the Astro droid?" he asked, looking around.

"He must have fallen behind somehow," said Rex.

"You guys continue as far as you can while I go back and look for Goldie," Ahsoka told them. Rex nodded as he took off, with his men following closely behind.

Ahsoka started running back. "Goldie, where are you?" Ahsoka called out as she stopped to look around. A small part of her hoped that the little Astromech droid didn't run into trouble. If it did, then the entire mission would be in jeopardy. However, as the torgruta padawan continued searching for the gold and black R3 unit, a sudden coldness took her focus away from her search. A devoid feeling that felt unnatural and, most of all, unwelcoming.

It almost started to suffocate her of air as it held her in a vase grip, as it was frighteningly familiar to the one from her dreams—no, the being from her dreams. But like a candle to a small gust of wind, it suddenly disappeared. Leaving Ahsoka baffled about what just happened a few seconds ago. Trying to find that endless cold void that never seems to end I'm wondering what has caused it.

It was then that R3 interrupted by suddenly coming out from around one of the corridors, and Ahsoka walked up before speaking. "What are you doing back here? Come on." She said this, waving for it to follow. R3 rolled past her and started walking after it.

The two of them managed to catch up with the clones, only to be stopped by a sudden shield. "We found the reactor room, sir. The alarm triggered another security door, ray-shielded." Rex told Anakin on his communicator.

"This could take a while to bypass," Ahsoka said to him.

"Good luck with that," Anakin said simply, ending the transmission.

Ahsoka took off the backpack and placed it on the ground before smiling at R3. "Go ahead, Goldie. Make me proud," she said to the droid. R3 beeped before rolling over to the console.

"Oh, this'll be good," Rex said sarcastically as R3 plugged in. The sound of droids marching was getting louder.

"Those droids are getting close, sir," Denal said as they all looked in the direction the sound was coming from.

"Do you think R3's going to open up that door any time soon?" Rex asked Ahsoka.

"He's working on it. Patience, Captain." She scolded him. The sound of marching started to get louder.

"I can always hot-wire it, sir," Denal suggested to the Jedi padawan.

"Hurry up, Goldie," Ahsoka told the droid impatiently, hearing the droid herself.

"I think we've run out of time," Rex said, stating the obvious as the droids finally came around the corner and saw them, but at that moment something unexpected happened. Turning around, she saw a humanoid coming around the corner with the speed of a speeder skid to a stop as a human suddenly appeared right behind them. Brown's eyes widened in surprise, clearly not expecting at all to encounter the Republic strike team. And judging by the clothing, the two of them are wearing cargo clothing.

Appearing a second later on the opposite side of the corridor behind the new arrival is an older human male whose frown has deepened to the point he looks like he might want to murder something and an unknown astromech unit. The teen's eyebrow raised as he stared at Ahsoka's orange face along with the clones for full minutes before saying one word that would be the ultimate understatement of all time.

"Well, this is unexpected."
