Caught In The Act
Chapter 21
People can evolve together.
Only if you find that person.
Its like my life isn't even real to me
Unless you're there and i'm living it with you.
"Where's Alex.?" Brooke asked. As i entered back into the house.
"She left. We're over." I announced.
"I'm sorry. You know what. I'm not she doesn't seem like you're type and all that stuff she said. Tells me she isn't a good person."
"I mean she didn't know anything about me in real life. Yet she was full of judgement." Brooke proclaimed.
"I'm sorry about what she said. I didn't have any warning she was going to unload like that. You didn't deserve to be attacked verbally like that. The relationship ending was the right decision." Lucas replied.
And with that they went into the kitchen to eat dinner together.
It was quieter then normal given Bridget's mood but still enjoyable.
Eventually the meal ended and Bridget went straight upstairs to bed.
Brooke followed behind to tuck her in.
While Lucas started cleaning up downstairs.
...
"Just because dad hates aunt Rachel doesn't mean i have too." Bridget announced. As she climbed into bed.
Brooke glared at her daughter. The expression on her face softened.
"Don't be so hard on you're dad. He's doing the rigt thing."
"Rachel has made questionable choices."
"Mistakes that can't be forgiven." Brooke explained.
"Dad made mistakes. And you don't hate him." Bridget replied.
"Alright enough of this now. The situations are not the same."
"Goodnight. I love you." Brooke said.
"I love you too." Bridget said as she clutched tightly to her purple monkey.
Brooke turned out the lights and left the room.
...
Lucas was finishing putting the last of the leftovers in the fridge.
When he spotted a bottle of alcohol with a note attached.
He grabbed the bottle and read the note.
From me to you. A delicious parting gift. Alex
Lucas placed down the bottle and closed the fridge.
"I'm going to head home. Unless you would like some company.?" Brooke asked. As she entered the kitchen.
...
Awhile Later
Seated beside each other. In front of the fireplace. Their ongoing conversation goes from surface level to substance.
"Stay you're company is always welcome." Lucas replied.
"I'm sorry about everything i did and said. In the past in our recent history. You deserved so much better from me and all i could do is push you away because i never felt deserving of you."
"And honestly i don't know if i ever will."
"I love you. I want you. I need you."
"I have yet to ever stop being in love with you."
"And i know without a doubt that i never will."
"I want to be with you. Now. And however long the future last."
"Our timing has never been right. I don't want to wait anymore." Lucas said.
As he leaned over and kissed her.
Brooke kissed him back.
