I OWN NOTHING RELATED TO GILMORE GIRLS

EPILOGUE

I was holding Logan's hand as we looked across our living room on Christmas Day, our two daughters. Their families, Lena had Kristen, Elizabeth(she preferred Beth) and Thomas. Kristen was just arriving as she spent the morning with Niki and her husband and she was single so she didn't have to divide her time with her boyfriends family. Beth was 13 and was really getting into make up, Lena was certain she'd be a make up artist in no time. She wasn't allowed to wear much in her day to day life but she saved up working at the Dragonfly, checking people in and basic admin duties she bought many nice palettes and she had a very willing model in her half sister whenever she was visiting which was often. Kristen was working towards her PhD at Columbia to be a doctor of social work so she could continue counselling those who abuse substances. Thomas was 8, and was obsessed with dinosaurs. It started when he was 3 correcting us on the names for dinosaurs, he wanted to be one for Halloween, he even knew the latin names for them. That was his interest, and music he played had played the piano and Belle had ballet but we didn't know where they got those streaks from neither Logan or I were particularly musical. Belle and Ty were sitting on the loveseat watching their god children and perfectly content with focusing on their careers. Belle had ended up in the hospital at 24 years old with a depressive episode she was diagnosed as Bipolar and after many tries with medication she found a combination that worked for her. We struggled to help her as we had never dealt with mental illness in our families aside from Logan and Ty's alcoholism. Ty's love for her never wavered, he had admitted her when he found her cutting herself, he visited her daily even though for the first 3 weeks she was in she didn't want to see him. We visited too and found Ty on more than one occasion crying in the lobby, but he didn't slip in his sobriety or in his devotion to our daughter. Belle had earned a day pass and Ty was worried she wouldn't want to spend the day with him and it was the first time in three weeks that Belle saw him she ran across the room and jumped into his arms wrapping her legs around him and cried into his shoulder that she was sorry and loved him. He fell to his knees wrapping her in his arms crying into her hair that he loved her. I think that was the moment that really solidified their relationship. Going through all that didn't make them question their relationship, didn't make Ty think she was crazy and that he should date someone else. He was Belle's soulmate and she was his. Belle still sees a therapist once a week and is still co-owning the gallery and occasionally goes on trips for her photography she does more stuff in New York though ever since everything happened.

"Beth, open ours next!" Belle yelled at Beth, she squealed and ran across the room. Belle fully supported having another artist in the family, even if it was with make up and was giving her expensive eyeshadow palettes and other expensive make up products. They gave Thomas an encyclopedia of dinosaurs, Kristen a new pair of pointe shoes (something she taught to pay her way through school).

"Thanks Aunt Belle!" she squealed as she opened a sample box of a bunch of different lipsticks, "And Uncle Ty, I know you brave Sephora for me."

"Of course I will," he smiled, "I'd do anything for my Godkids. Thomas if you ever want make up I'll do it for you too."

"I'm good but thanks," he waved his hand, adjusting his glasses. Lena put her reading glasses on and peered over his shoulder, she'd needed glasses since she was young and used them to read sheet music and books. Lena had never ended up getting any tattoos but Ty did a few more for Jake, Belle and Kristen. He was as close with Kristen as Beth and Thomas.

"Grandma, Grandpa look what they got me!" Beth ran over to use at the island and showed us the lipsticks,

"That's great honey!" I smiled, and took her hand leading her over to the living room,

"Is that everyone's presents?" Logan asked,

"Looks like it," Jake gestured to the empty tree, and the empty stocking's we made for everyone. We got little things for everyone's stockings, we put money in the trust funds for all the grandkids including Kristen. We gave the girls some clothes and jewelry, Kristen we gave her some money to put towards whatever she needed, we got Beth a $500 giftcard to Sephora and some equipment to take pictures of her work (Belle had taught her the basics) and Thomas a year long membership to the museum of natural history due to their dinosaur exhibit and also gave him money to spend at natural history museum summer camp he was enrolled in. Jake we gave him a new leather jacket and a few research books he wanted for fun but still work related, and Ty we gave some new art supplies and a new tablet to work on. The kids gave us the things we'd appreciate, albums, sketches, and pictures over the year.

"Thanks Mom and Dad," Lena came across the room to hug us,

"You're welcome Princess," Logan kissed her temple,

"Anything for you guys," I smiled, hugging her tightly,Belle came over and kissed our cheeks and smiled.

"Its so nice to see you smile Belle." I sighed, cupping her face

"I'm doing it more," she assured me. As she went back to sit on Ty who was waiting on the couch, she had a ring on her finger but we didn't have a ceremony or even legal papers saying they were married. They knew they were committed to each other and knew that they had each other no matter what. Ty remained sober and since Belle's stint in a mental hospital she had done very well. She no longer drinks at all, due to her medication so often at our family events there was no alcohol, children and sober individuals didn't make sense to have alcohol. Our family was whole, if someone had told me the day I found out that I was pregnant with Lena that I would have this, could have this future. I wouldn't have believed them. Logan wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder as the kids started packing up, there gifts we were wrapped up in making these memories last forever. Every year we had Christmas with the family we created out of nothing and have grown even more. My mom would see with Luke and James and his girlfriend. But it was hard to convene everyone's schedules to get everyone together usually it was the girls and the kids sometimes Kristen but always Beth, Thomas, Belle and Lena. This time of year was awfully busy for Ty. Lots of people get tattoos for Christmas I guess, his piercers were also busy. Sometimes when it was busy Belle would come in and help with cash and reception. I didn't think that this was the future I was planning on for my girls, especially one who refused post secondary but went for 2 years to humor her parents, paternal grandparents and maternal great grandfather. All I knew is that my girls were happy, they were healthy, they were in love with their lives and the people in it and that's all I wanted for my girls, my grandchildren. I didn't know happiness like this without Logan.
