"XANOTES!" Someone pounced onto him.
"Im up! Im up!" It was Feemor. "What time is it?"
"4:30."
"Why are you waking me up at 4:30!"
"Because there is a surprise." His father was in the doorway.
He pushed Feemor off of him. "What surprise?"
"That would give away the surprise. Now go get packed."
"But its 4:30!"
"Get packed."
He looked over at Feemor. "Do you know what the surprise is?"
Feemer started giggling. "Yes."
"What is it!"
"Not telling!" Feemor ran out of his room.
He packed the best he could. He hadn't been on to many missions so he wasn't to sure on what to pack. But he did the best he could.
He walked out off his room and into the kitchen, his dad and Feemor were eating breakfast. He sat down at his set, Feemor looked at him and started giggling. His dad gave him a look and he quieted.
He started eating his pancakes. "Where are we going."
"You'll see, don't worry you'll like it." His father said. "Finish so we can go."
Both quickly finished their food. Xanotes and his dad grabbed their bags but Feemor didn't. He was about to asked but Feemor was already out the door.
They first went to Tahl's, who wasn't to happy to be woken up so early in the morning. Feemor went with Tahl as Xanotes and his dad went to the ships.
8 Hour Later
"How about now?" Xanotes asked less then a minute after being told to be quiet.
"You've been asking the same question for 8 hours. What do you think the answer is?" His father looked at him and smiled, he was enjoying this.
"But I wanna knooooooooooow!"
"You will, just not now."
He groaned and flopped into his chair. He still didn't know where they were going. And he had been asking for eight hours. He felt himself being pushed forward as the exited hyperspace. They were a snowy white planet in front of them.
"We're going to a snow planet?" He looked at his father.
"Think. What's the most important snow planet to the Jedi." His father flew them down.
He looked at his father in complete confusion. "Think."
"Ilum…Ilum…" The realization hit. "Am I building my lightsaber!?"
His father chuckled. "Took you long enough."
At The Cave
"Remember trust-"
He cut his father off. "Trust in the Force, use my instincts, don't do anything stupid to where you have to come get me, if I do something stupid call you."
His father sighed. "What am I going to do with you?"
Xanotes crossed his arms. "You can let me go build my lightsaber?"
His father sighed again. "Just don't do anything stupid."
Xanotes ran up to the cave, he turned around. "Hey, its me!" He ran in.
"Xanotes!"
Xanotes laughed and ran through the caves. He stopped when he when he came to two different paths. He looked at both caves.
The first had a green lightsaber with the Jedi symbol over it. He picked up the blade. It was black with silver lining. It was on the heavier side but it felt right. He ran his hand over the hilt.
The next cave was much colder then the first cave. The lightsaber was…red. He grabbed this hilt, it was freezing. This blade was heavy as well. But it was full black. He set this one down and went back to the front of both caves.
He sat down in front of both. These were clearly supposed to be his. But why was there a red? Maybe this was a trick? Yes, thats it. He got up and went to the green hilt and took it.
But it felt wrong, very wrong. He stared at the hilt. No something was wrong he couldn't take this hilt. But he wasn't falling to the dark side, no.
He set down the hilt and stormed out of the cave. He walked down a new path hoping. Hoping for what? He didn't know.
There was a new cave, this one was much bigger. There was a person on a black obsidian throne. They were in all black with a hood over their face they were holding the red lightsaber.
"Hello." The person said.
"Who are you?"
The person looked at him and smiled. "Who do you think I am?"
Xanotes took a couple steps forward. He looked at the blood red saber. The air around him went cold.
"Oh so you like this." They asked.
"No!"
The person walked up to him. "But you do."
"No I don't!" He wasn't sure why he was getting offensive.
"Don't worry… you'll have this blade soon enough."
"I don't want to." He stepped back.
"If you want expect it then I guess you'll just have to kill me." The person went to attack.
Xanotes moved as the saber went down. He fell on the floor and the person tried to stab him, but he rolled away. He got up and ran to the caves with the lightsabers.
He ran to the green lightsaber. He grabbed it turned around and ignited it. He stumbled as the person continued to attack him. They smiled.
"Oh how interesting. You pick red."
He looked over at his blade. It wasn't green, it was red. He dropped the blade and ran to the green one. No, it was red. Why were the both red?! He slammed the saber on the floor and grabbed the other one. Red again.
"KRIFF!" He threw the lightsaber at the wall.
They laughed again. "Just accept!"
"NO!"
He snatched the saber and took out the crystal. He smashed it into the ground, it shattered. He grabbed the first crystal he could find. He shoved it in. The blade flickered green then red then green again.
The blade felt wrong, so very wrong. He felt the Force felt upset. It seemed to hurt in his chest.
"It feels wrong doesn't it? You are destined for a red blade, a Sith blade."
"NO!" He jumped at the person.
They went back and forth Xanotes made the final strike. He stabbed the person in the side with his lightsaber. The blade went from green to red, bright blood red.
"There is no stopping the dark side. When the time comes you'll just give in." The person said.
"No! I will NEVER join the dark side!"
"But one day." And the person died.
Xanotes dropped the hilt when he saw the blade. He watched as the blade fell to the ground. He went over to the person and removed their hood. It was…him.
Xanotes felt this wave of the dark side crush him. He dropped to his knees as the dark side dominated the cave. It almost hurt, no it very much hurt. The cold bleed through the walls into him.
But part of the pain and the cold felt good. But that was wrong. The dark side was supposed to be evil, it was supposed to be wrong, it was supposed hurt, it wasn't supposed to feel good.
Xanotes pushed himself to his feet, he pushed against the Force. He held out his hand, the crystal came to his hand, it was red. No. That wasn't right. He rushed the Force to turn to back to green.
The Force clearly didn't like that. It screamed loudly Xanotes dropped to the floor again. This time it really hurt. Everything did.
Then is suddenly calmed. Xanotes looked up, he was at the very start of the main cave. He could see his dad pacing outside. He took a deep breath and got up.
This father ran up to him, he looked very concerned. "Are you okay? Something felt wrong in the Force?"
He didn't say anything back, he was still in shock. "Xanotes look at me what happened?"
Xanotes pulled his jacket closer into him. "I'm cold."
His father seemed to understand that something was off. "Okay lets go back to the ship."
Back At The Temple
Xanotes stood in front of his family. He played with his hilt that was behind his back. Much to his disappointment the hilt looked like the green one in the cave. And it looked to much like the red blade.
He took a deep breath as Feemor turned off the lights. He brought the hilt in front of him. He hadn't seen the blade yet. He was hoping it wasn't red. It couldn't be red. It just couldn't.
He ignited the blade. Feemor had said that he was supposed to feel a wave of the Force, but he felt nothing. There was nothing but an empty void. And empty cold void.
The blade was a much darker green blade. It casted the room with a dark green glow. Then a mixed green-yellow blade. Feemor brought out his saber.
Feemor smiled and he did his best to smile back. Feemor said it would feel right, like it was his. But it didn't. Why didn't it feel right? What was wrong with his blade?
11:42 PM
Xanotes laid on his bed his lightsaber on his desk. It felt so much colder in his room. Which was strange because his room was at the normal temperature it always was. Exhaustion slowly crept into him as he closed his eyes.
Thats when a datapad was thrown at his head. He jumped and fell out of his bed. He landed on his backpack. He yelped and he used the Force to turn the lights on.
Feemor was standing in his doorway, he had the looked that was unreadable and that only a older sibling could have. "What the kriff Fee!"
Feemor didn't say anything, he walked into his room and snatched his lightsaber from his desk. "Fee stop that mine."
He got up and ripped the saber from his hands. "What are you doing in my room?"
"I am looking at your lightsaber." Feemor tried to grab it. "Now give it."
He held the lightsaber closer to his chest. "No its mine."
Feemor managed to get a hold of the saber, he looked at it and then at his. "Why is it so cold?"
Xanotes grab the saber back. "Because its made of metal and its in a cold room."
Feemor looked at him. "Its not cold."
He walked over to his bed and sat on his bed. "Well its cold."
His brother walked over to his thermostat. "Its says you room is at 80."
"Theres no way its 80 degrees in here." He got up to check the thermostat, sure enough it said 80. "What the kriff. It feels like its 20!"
Feemor looked at him. "What happened in that cave?"
Xanotes went silent he walked back over to his bed. "Xanotes what happened?"
"Nothing-"
"What happened."
"I said nothing!"
Feemor stared him down. It was that stare that only a older sibling could give. Xanotes fidgeted under his stare. Feemor clearly wasn't going to give up anytime soon.
It took a good ten minutes before Xanotes gave in. "I met a darker version of myself and he said I was going to fall. And I don't want to fall. But every time I grabbed the green lightsaber it would turn red and I couldn't stop it. I don't want to fall. Am I going to fall? No! I don't want to. Does this mean I'll never be a Jedi? Because I killed him and the lightsaber was red. If I fall does that mean you and dad don't love me? I don't you guys to stop loving me. Does this mean I'm not good enough? I don't want to fall. But the dark side felt SO good. Why did it feel good? Its not supposed to feel good! Why did it feel good! I don't want to fall!"
Feemor was staring at him. Whatever he was expecting that clearly wasn't it. Feemor came up to him. He cupped his head and wiped the tears Xanotes didn't know were falling. Feemor pulled him into a hug.
"Its okay. Your not going to fall. Not on my watch."
Something inside of him broke. He started crying hard into his brother's arms. Feemor hugged him tighter. Which didn't help the tears stop.
"Hey hey. Its okay-"
Xanotes pulled away from him. "No its not! I'm going to fall!"
"Says who?"
"Says the Force!"
Feemor sat on his bed next to him. "Listen here. If you don't want to fall you won't fall. Its your life and you can do whatever you want with it. Understand?"
Xanotes sat there. "Okay."
"Okay now that we have that settle. Stay here." Feemor got up and set both lightsabers on the desk and left.
A moment later Feemor came back in with a blanket, pillow, and a stuffed animal. Be threw them onto the floor and bed a mini bed.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"I said you wouldn't fall under my watch didn't I?"
"Yes…"
"Good. I'm sleeping in your room tonight and there's nothing you can do about it." Feemor fall face first into his pillow and stop responding.
Xanotes laid back down on his bed. He stared at the ceiling for a good while before he checked the time. 12:07. He sigh and laid back down.
Feemor had fallen asleep a while ago. He could hear his soft snores echo in the dark room. Xanotes sat up, too impatient to fall asleep. He got up and paced the small part of his room.
His brain and body were exhausted, but his mind wasn't. He couldn't rest and it annoyed him. He sat back on his bed and looked at his sleeping brother.
He grabbed his blanket and pillow and joined him on the floor. For the first time in a while, he felt warm. He cuddle in closer and Feemor unconsciously responded to it. Xanotes felt safe in his arms and quickly fell asleep.
Maybe it was just his exhausted mind finally giving in or someone tucked him in and said goodnight to him. But either way the Force was happy.
for now…
