Author Note: I know that it's been a while since I updated this story. I actually wrote part of this chapter when I had a lot of snow at my house and now, I am about to move. Hopefully this will help me with writing and posting more often for you. This will be the last chapter of the story for now.

Chapter 5

Steve knew that leaving for training would be hard but normally it's just a few days, but he found out that he was going to have to go to the mainland for the training and it would be until the day before Thanksgiving.

"Hey, so did you find out how long this training is going to be?" Danny asked his friend when he walked into the office.

"I did and I have to go to the mainland. It's supposed to go until Thanksgiving." Steve responded to his friend.

"Wow. Did you tell Marissa about where the training and how long it will be?" Danny asked him before closing the door.

"I am going to tell her and the kids tonight." Steve responded to him.

"Well I hate to be part of that chat with Marissa because I know that it's going to be hard for her." Danny responded to him.

"Me too but I have to do that." Steve responded to him. They finished working on the paperwork and headed home for the night. Marissa had the day off to be with the kids. Steve arrived home to find Marissa watching the kids playing in the front yard.

"Daddy!" Lexi said as she went to running towards him as he got out of the truck.

"Hey baby girl." Steve responded to her with a smile as he picked her up. "How was your day?"

"It was good. I missed you." She said to her father as her siblings came running up to him. Steve put her down and went to go greet the rest of the kids. After he was finished, he walked over to Marissa and give a small kiss. They sat down and watched the kids play.

"So I got a phone call from my seal team. They are having us go on a training op which will start in a few days and go until at least Thanksgiving." Steve revealed to her with a sad smile.

"okay." She responded to him with a smile. "Just be careful."

"Don't worry, I will." He responded to her with a smile. They headed back into the house with the kids and got them ready for bed.

"So when are you planning to tell the kids that you are leaving?" Marissa asked her husband.

"I was hoping that we can do it together. I know that it's going to be confusing for our younger ones but the older ones will be able to help out with it." Steve revealed to her with a smile.

"Maybe we should tell them tomorrow night. It will give them a few days to process it before you leave." Marissa suggested to her husband.

"That might be a good idea. I just don't want to spring it on them now that they are used to me being home." Steve responded to her with a smile.

"Let's go to bed since we know that the kids are going to wake us up early." she responded before getting ready for bed.

The next morning, Steve was the first one to wake up and just stayed in bed for a little bit longer. He hated having to leave his wife and girls. The girls finally woke up around 7:30am and came into bed with them. They were planning to tell the girls later on today.

"Daddy, what's wrong?" Lexi asked her father. She could tell that there was something going on.

"Nothing baby girl." Steve responded to his daughter.

"Are you sure?" Lexi questioned her father.

"Yes baby girl, I am sure." Steve responded to his daughter. Marissa woke up before their daughter had a chance to answer her father. "Why don't you go downstairs and see if your siblings are awake?"

"Okay, daddy." She said to her father with a smile.

He waited until she left the room before turning his attention to his wife.

"Do you think that she knows that something is up?" She asked her husband.

"Yeah, I do. We are raising a very smart little girl." Steve responded to his wife with a smile.

"That we are." She responded to her husband. "Are you ready to go tell the kids?"

"Yeah." Steve responded to her with a smile before getting out of the bed. They headed downstairs to go check on their kids. They found them playing with their toys. "Who is ready to go out for breakfast?"

"Yes!" The kids smiled at their parents. Steve and Marissa went upstairs to get the kids and themseleves ready for their breakfast out.

"Are you nervous about telling the kids about you leaving?" She asked her husband. "I also did not taking them out for breakfast out?"

"I am more nervous about telling them because of their reactions. I just figured that it might be good to have them eat first and then tell them." Steve responded to her with a smile. They headed downstairs and loaded up their kids into Steve's truck. They arrived to get their breakfast.

"So guys, I have to tell you something." Steve responded to his children.

"What is it daddy?" Lexi asked her father.

"Daddy has to go on a business trip for a couple of weeks." Steve revealed to his children. "I know that this is going to hard for you all but I need you to be good for mommy. Uncle Danny, Uncle Chin, and Aunt Kono will be here to help mommy."

"Okay daddy. Will you be home before Thanksgiving?" She asked her father.

"I should be." Steve responded to her with a smile.

They ended up spending the day together before going to bed. Steve got up early and gave everyone a small kiss on their forehead before leaving. He left the house to find Danny there waiting for him.

"Hey, I thought that it would be wonderful for me to take you to the airport but you are not driving my car." Danny said to his friend as he opened the tunk of his car. They loaded up the car and headed to the airport.

"Danny, please make sure to keep watch over my family while I am gone." Steve said to his family as Danny arrived to the airport.

"Don't worry, I will keep them safe and make sure that they are okay." Danny responded to his friend.

"Thanks Danno." Steve said to his friend.

"What did I tell you about calling me danno?" Danny asked his friend. "You know that I hate that nickname."

"I know but it's funny to see you get mad." Steve responded to him before walking away.

A few days before Thanksgiving, Steve was about to come home and surprise Marissa and the kids. Danny knew about the surprise because he was going to set it up for them.
