The London Eye

4:58 PM

Cammie's POV:

Zach and I had wandered around for hours, bantering and having fun along with some little comments about throwing the other into the River Thames. It felt nice to just hang out and let loose but I reminded myself I was on a mission.

I glanced over at Zach before looking at the approaching site of the London Eye. I recalled how tense he'd been before we'd left our suite. I wonder what happened during the time I was in the bathroom that had prompted him to lie about him being fine. I shook my head, dispelling the thoughts from my mind, and placed my focus on the task at hand. It was 5 minutes before 5 PM. I noticed Zach subtly glancing around for an operative. That's when I noticed her.

A woman in a white blouse and black flare pants began heading in our direction. Playing into our couple act, I leaned into him and signaled that the informant had arrived. He looked at me and smiled before looking back up. She then bumped into me (although to a civilian would see it as a mere accident) and swiftly brushed a folded note into my hand. She turned around feigning surprise and said, "Oh dear, I should've watched where I was going. I'm sorry!"

I shook my head and told her it was fine and we watched her walk away. I couldn't help but admire her skills as a pavement artist as she effortlessly merged into the crowd. A small smile formed on my face as I recalled our lesson at Gallagher regarding brush passes. I stuffed the note into my jacket pocket and let out a small breath. I walked ahead and suddenly felt a warm hand intertwine mine.

Zach shot me a playful look as if to remind me of his role as my fake boyfriend. I rolled my eyes and resumed our stroll through the city. As we headed back, we ran into an old couple who praised our cuteness, saying we reminded them of their youthful days together. It was a cute interaction. By the time we reached the hotel, we noticed we'd still been holding hands. Feeling slightly embarrassed, I pulled away and walked in front of him as we entered the hotel elevator. I heard him laugh a little behind me.

We'd been slightly carefree before all this but there lay crucial information in my pocket. The moment we learned the contents of that note was the moment this mission would really kick into action.

I'm especially curious as to why this mission had been classified as a Level 10 mission, a blackout mission. Usually, I'm aware things aren't as simple as they appear, I'm a spy after all, but this mission has the aspects of an in-and-out mission yet their name was the one piece of crucial information that was hidden. I can't help but be intrigued by this because missions are expertly encrypted to keep their information exceptionally classified, a wall placed to protect civilians and used to keep the unwanted out so nothing falls into the wrong hands. So the name, I expect, holds a lot of power in the underground world, and their ideals more than surely threaten the livelihood of civilians.

Once we reached our suite, Zach and I conducted a swift sweep for bugs and once we were assured it was safe we sat down, prepared to take in the information that had been so carefully delivered and entrusted to us. This relied on us, we were the head operatives of this operation.

I took the note out of my pocket and Zach nodded. I unfolded it and the following information read as follows:

R.O.F: Ring Of Fire

Purpose: Specialize in the taking of civilians and spies to train them to be assassins. After rigorous training their missions include but are not limited to organized crime, assassinations of important leaders or people, terrorism (domestic and international), etc.

Reason for its classification: Few people are aware of their existence, considered one of the worlds most dangerous organizations

Extra Info: I'm aware you both have experience with the Circle of Cavan; be aware that the R.O.F. operate in a similar fashion. The time when they were founded is still unclear though it's speculated they rose after the Circle was defeated. Backup is always required.

Zach read the last line aloud. "She wasn't playing around and even offered advice. Seems like she really wanted to emphasize why we have other agents on this mission with us."

I nodded as I examined the paper. "The CIA wasn't messing around. They don't want this operation to get out which can only mean one thing: they suspect some of their agents or informants have slipped into our channels."

Zach let out a breath, shaking his head. "They've made their point loud and clear. We need to keep this under wraps. Looking at our covers, we are in a position where we are posing as trusted sources to their organization so we'll need to make sure they don't get suspicious long enough that we find what it is they're planning- why are you looking at that paper like that?"

There was a slight hint of annoyance in his tone. I offered him an apologetic smile and held up the paper, "I was listening. Just making sure we can dispose of it."

"We'll just shred it," He shrugged, confused as to why that had needed my attention. I shook my head, letting out a small laugh, "No need. This is evapopaper. We'll drop it in water and it'll dissolve. We're fine."

He raised his eyebrows, amusement shining in his eyes. "That's useful. Ok but can we talk about the name? The Ring Of Fire, after the ring of volcanoes?"

I flicked his arm, amused at his little takeaway. Shaking my head, I made my way over to the bathroom where I turned the faucet and dropped the paper in, watching it quickly dissolve. My phone suddenly rang. No Caller ID. I picked up.

"Hello...yes...8 PM is fine...we'll be there shortly ...no problem thank you..." I looked up to see Zach signaling to the phone and I nodded. "Another one? Ok thank you. See you soon."

He grabbed our bags and placed them on the bed. He began gathering all his belongings and neatly placing them in his duffel. "Time for the dangerous part of our mission to begin. Our flight time is 7:30 PM?"

I also began packing. "Yea. We have another file to look over before we arrive. We're flying CIA but being picked up by their personal driver. The moment we land is the moment we'll assume our new identity."

He nodded, swinging the duffel over his shoulder, glancing up at the time. "Ok. Let's go."

Geneva, Switzerland Arrival Time: 9:15 PM

1 Mile from Claren/Montreux, Montreux, Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut District, Switzerland

10:09 PM

Zach lay his head on top of mine, an act that would help aid our cover as a married couple. Earlier, we'd been handed a file containing information regarding one Noah Harris. Apparently, the couple had taken him under their wing, training him to be their informant. He was effective and the Clarks' primary source of information. Zach and I were well aware we needed to be careful. One wrong move and we could tip Noah off to our true affiliations.

We were 5 minutes away from the home but one look at the area and it was easy to tell the Clarks enjoyed living in luxury. The car began to pull into the driveway and a beautiful mansion came into view. The car came to a stop and Zach opened the door.

He turned his gaze to mine, extended his hand out to me, and in a flawless Italian accent said, "We're home, darling."

I gave him a smile in return, accepting his hand. "I'm glad."

Part of me wished Bex could have seen how flawless my British accent had sounded. She would've been proud. We both stepped towards the mansion, hand in hand, subtly examining our surroundings. The door of the mansion opened and a tall, young man hurried towards us. One look at him and I recognized him as Noah Harris.

I raised my head, glancing at Zach, who had also noticed him. Noah smiled as he approached us, "It's good to have you back Mr and Mrs Clark."

He placed his hand out for a handshake and Zach shook it. Noah met both of our gazes and let out an apologetic sigh. "My apologies for not being here sooner. I hope you both enjoyed your getaway and that these past two weeks have treated you well."

I shot him a small smile in acknowledgment. If only he knew. "However, I do fear two weeks have been too long. So much has happened in that short amount of time," He informed us. Now that was interesting. "Agents came looking for you in your absence and have left me a message they wish to deliver to you."

Noah gestured us towards the house and we followed as he continued talking. "The organization wants some people dead, they trust you'll be able to retrieve information regarding their whereabouts so they can set their plan into motion."

He led us up to our room, opened the door and we stepped inside. Zach, now playing into his cover, said, "I see. Get us the names of these people and those who possess this information so we can begin immediately."

I noticed Noah seemed to be particularly fond of Zach's cover, Liam. "Of course, I wouldn't dare fail you."

Zach smirked a little. "Of course, you wouldn't. My wife and I have entrusted you with information that must remain hidden. It'd be a shame if you messed up and we needed to eliminate you."

Noah nodded, a smile forming across his face. "I wouldn't dare. You've provided me with the greatest honor. I'll have your information shortly."

Noah gestured toward the stairs and we nodded, making our way upstairs. As we went up, I discretely kept my eye on him. He had turned and made his way to what I could only assume was an office room.

We made it to the room and one look at each other we knew to begin searching for bugs. The reason the Clarks had been gone for 2 weeks was due to them being on 'vacation' which was actually a mission to retrieve information regarding some particular agents in Interpol. Reading more information on the plane ride here regarding the Clarks' "business" was definitely enlightening.

Once we'd finished scooping out the room, we relaxed a little. We'd found 10 bugs. I wasn't too surprised. Whether you're on the right side of this business or not, the threat of double agents always looms overhead. I couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed and amused. The Clarks connections, especially Noah, could be our downfall.

But what worries me the most is that they already had a assassination mission lined up for them the moment they returned home. Zach made himself at home, his mannerisms to that of Liam on point. We'd gotten comfortable and had hushed conversations in case Noah were to casually walk in. I sighed, tired, as I glanced at the digital clock on the nightstand that read 12 AM. We were in the clear for now.

Now we wait for backup.

Just then my phone buzzed. I looked down and smiled. It was Bex.

Bex: We're on our way. We'll be there soon.

Me: Sounds good. When will you arrive?

Bex: We just boarded. We'll arrive at around 8 AM Switzerland time.

Me: Good luck on the long flight. I'm heading to bed.

Bex: Ok. Be careful.

Me: Of course.

I hid my phone (my actual phone) and placed Emma's phone on the nightstand. Precautions never hurt anybody, especially in this world. Zach slipped under the covers and patted the side next to him. I rolled my eyes amused.

"How dotting," I mused. He scoffed but I saw the corners of his lips begin to form a smile. I walked into the bathroom and changed. I looked at my reflection and sighed. We might be here awhile.

I walked out and shimmied under the covers. Zach gestured to get closer and whispered, "You've made contact right?"

I nodded. It was reassuring knowing that backup would arrive soon. "They've just boarded. They'll be here around 8 A.M."

Zach seemed to be calculating something. "It's midnight here so it's probably 6 P.M. in D.C.," He laughed a little. "The time zone difference might mess my buddy up a little so hopefully he'll sleep through a bit of the the flight."

I raised my eyebrows amused. "That's true," I looked over at Zach and motioned for him to get to his side of the bed. He let out a dramatic sigh and rolled over. I let out a small laugh.

Before drifting off to sleep, I thought about the gentle tone he'd had when he talked about his buddy. I haven't known him long but I could see he was a good person and a good partner. After all, despite our rather weird meeting, we were able to get friendly faster than I had expected. He was definitely an interesting person.

And with that thought, I drifted into unconsciousness.
