As the sun rose the next morning, and the light peeked in through the curtains, Caitlin was the first to wake up. The first thing to catch her eye was the snowflake ring on her finger. She smiled at the thought that she is forever going to wake up next to the man she fell in love with. Then she thought about her daughters, she smiled and got up to get her girls ready for school. Alex's room was the closest to theirs, she was going to be the first to be woken up. "Alex… Alex, sweetie, it's time to wake up…" Alex stirred in her bed groaning in frustration at being woken up at the crack of dawn.
"Can you make French toast, Mom?" Alex slurred trying to wake up. Caitlin smiled at her child-like request 'yep, exactly like Barry'. "Only if you can wake up Kara?" Alex groaned, because she discovered early on that Kara's a heavy sleeper. Caitlin giggled and walked to the kitchen to make French toast.
Alex on the other hand almost fell out of bed and deliriously made her way to Kara's room. Once she opened the door, she was greeted with the sight of her little sister clutching the little green alien Cisco and Kamilla got her, she huffed a laugh smiling then momentarily kicking herself in the head for not bringing her phone with her. Barry walked up behind her with bed hair and cooed over the sight in front of him. "Let me get a picture of this…" Barry sped to get his phone and took a couple quick pictures knowing Caitlin will want some pictures. "And my new screensaver."
Alex rolled her eyes at Barry for being such a dad. "Wait you don't have any pictures of me like that do you?" she asked furrowing her brows.
Barry nodded and pulled up a picture of Alex asleep holding her baseball bat. "Dad!" Barry's smile faded to a look of confusion. "Honestly I thought you'd be more mad with the one Cait has, she has a picture of you eating cake, that I took." Alex looked mortified, and her face turned a dark pink, in embarrassment.
"Please just promise that no one will ever see those?" Alex pleaded.
"I promise, scouts honor." Barry walked away laughing.
"Were you really a scout!"
"No!" Barry yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
"Kara!"
"Hmm?"
"Wake up, it's time for school just one more day and then the weekend."
Kara rolled over to her stomach. "I don't want to go... too tired."
"Kara, if you don't get out of this bed... I'll drag you out." Alex walked to the foot of her bed ready to grab her legs. "You can't, I'm stronger." Kara grunted and Alex took that as a challenge, she grabbed Kara by her foot and pulled as hard as she could. Kara silently giggled, because she didn't even move an inch. Kara pulled her foot from Alex's grasp and pulled her with her onto her bed.
"Dad!" Alex screamed for reinforcements. Barry sped in and lifted Kara onto his shoulders and spun her around dropping her on the bed.
Caitlin Was in the kitchen making French toast, when she heard laughing and screaming. She smiled at the images in her head. "God, we got it bad for that man." Frost said inside her head. "I'll say." Caitlin responded remembering their time in bed together.
"Say what?" Barry walked back in dressed and with his shoes in hand.
"Oh, um nothing, just Frost talking." Caitlin furrowed her brows in confusion "where are you going? I thought we had a date today?" Caitlin looked a bit sad and disappointed that maybe he forgot.
"We are, I just wanted to go to the store to get some things." Barry winked and smiled, Caitlin blushed and looked at what she was doing. "So do Frost and I need to pack anything?"
"Well, it is going to be just you, me and Frost on this trip, so.."
"Mom!? Have you seen my shoes?" Alex yelled, sliding in on her socks, Caitlin jumped in surprise for a second then thought about it. "Um, which ones?"
"My black vans."
"Did you check in the living room under the couch? For some reason potstickers likes to kick them under there." Alex thought about it for a second then ran to the couch and threw herself on it checking under it. "Found them!" Caitlin smiled and rolled her eyes.
Caitlin finished the last of the French toast for her loving family. After a while Kara and Alex came down for breakfast and Alex walked in looking a bit more dressed up than she usually did. Barry and Caitlin looked at each other wondering whether or not to ask?
"Why did you dress up? You never dress up for school." Kara said from her spot at the bar. Alex turned pink, at the realization that her parents were looking at her waiting for an answer.
"What? I can't dress up for myself?" she defended.
"Of course, you can." Frost grabbed her chin and squeezed her cheeks together mocking her daughter. Alex pulled her head out of her hand, rolling her eyes. "But even I must admit that you never do, So? Who's the lucky guy?" Alex looked a bit disgusted at the thought of sharing that information with her parents, and Barry almost fell off his chair, almost dropping his coffee.
"No offence Mama Frost but I don't feel comfortable telling you that." She whispered to her, Frost pouted and deflated.
"So, it is for someone!" Kara yelled from next to Barry.
"What did I say about using your super hearing to eavesdrop?" Caitlin Scolded.
"Not to." Kara sighed as she put in her hearing aids.
Barry finished his food, kissed his daughter's head, then his loving fiancée. "I'll be back in minute, or two."
"Alright girls, finish up your food and grab your bags. You're going to be late.
Caitlin pulled into the designated drop off area to Alex's school, it wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for a certain girl that she spent the last couple days working up the courage to talk to, getting out of the car in front of them.
Alex's eye's widened in horror, Caitlin noticed Alex trying to sink further into the seat, 'Huh kinda looks like Barry when he does that.' she thought to Frost, "Is everything ok baby?" she asked, but got no answer so she followed her line of sight and saw a cute Asian girl walking up the stairs to the entrance of the school.
At first, she thought 'Maybe she likes her', but then she thought 'what if she's getting bullied?'. "Alex, honey, is that girl bullying you?" Alex looked a bit confused, then she processed what her mother said, and her eyes widened. "Wh-what? N-no no she's just someone I've been wanting to talk to." Kara snickered in the back seat, then she started making kissing noises. Alex just sunk lower into her seat wanting to disappear from existence.
"Totally in love with her." Said Frost, Caitlin looked at herself in the rearview mirror and raised an eyebrow, as her eyes flashed. "Trust me I know these things." Caitlin rolled her eyes in acceptance. Once the girl walked into the building, Alex rushed to get out. "Ok Moms, I'll see you later tonight." Alex smiled and closed the car door, running up the stairs.
Caitlin looked in the mirror straight at Kara, narrowing her eyes. "You wouldn't happen to know what that was about, do you?" Kara looked a bit nervous. "N-Nope, not a thing. I have no idea why Alex dressed up for school, or why she was hiding from that girl." Kara rambled on. "Yeah, right." Said Caitlin, not convinced.
The drive to Kara's school was only a two-minute drive. Once Caitlin pulled up to the front steps of the school, she locked the doors to keep Kara from leaving. Kara didn't attempt to leave, not wanting to rip the car door off its hinges. "Kara remember, after school Nana Cecile is going to pick you up, so no walking off with Winn, Ok?" Kara nodded. "And remember, this card is for you only. If you waste your allowance do not… Kara, look at me sweetie…." Kara looked up to her mother. "...Do Not manipulate Alex into spending Her's for you." Kara nodded, signaling that she understood, and Caitlin handed the card over.
Caitlin unlocked the door, and Kara stepped out of the car and into school. She made her way to her locker, put in her combination and grabbed her stuff for her first period.
Once in class she took her regular seat next to Winn. The class was really boring and Kara got bored so she started drawing in her notebook, she was drawing her family crest, remembering her life on Krypton.
Kara was brought out of her thoughts when she heard her name being called, she looked over to see that it was her best friend Winn. "Oh, hey Winn, what's wrong?" He looked confused, and worried for her but chopped it up as she was tired this morning. "Not much just asking how you are this morning?" He decided not to ask, thinking that she would tell him when she was ready.
"Oh, nothing Alex decided to dress up today for Ashley Lewis Again, it was really funny because Mom's and Dad were trying to interrogate her, well more like my moms were, dad choked on his coffee and almost fell out of his chair." She started laughing, Winn on the other hand was trying to figure out why she kept saying "Mom's" "Why do you keep saying "Mom's"?" Kara stopped smiling unsure about what to say.
"Oh um, my mom is… well, I don't know the English term for it. There are two people in the same body, is the best way that I can explain it." Kara honestly forgot the word that Caitlin told her. "O-Oh split personality you mean?" 'Huh that's what it was.' Kara thought to herself. "Yes, that's it."
(End of the school day)
Alex was walking out of her last period kind of upset that she didn't get two speak to the one person that she wanted to talk to. She was clutching her English book with a notebook and a few papers, while slowly walking to her locker.
Once she pried open the metal door, she grabbed her history and biology books along with some papers. She looked down the hall eyeing the locker that belonged to Ashley Lewis, she looked into her locker and sighed slamming it shut.
Alex opened the doors to the exit, not looking where she was going, she bumped into someone and dropped her books. Alex apologizes crouching to pick up her things, once she looked up to see who it was that she ran into. She looked into dark brown eyes, "Oh, h-hey I'm sorry I-I didn't know there was anyone on the other side of the door." Alex started blushing.
"No, it's ok I'm sorry I should've been looking where I was going." Ashley stumbles to help Alex gather her things. "You're Alex right, the new girl?" Alex blushes even more at the fact that the girl she's been pining over knows her name.
Unable to trust her voice she nods, Ashley handed her the papers that she picked up. "I usually see you sitting by yourself, Is that by choice or….?" Alex looked away, kind of embarrassed that she noticed. "N-No I uh- I um, new school…don't really know anyone." Alex huffed a laugh.
"Well, a couple of my friends and I are heading to the mall later. If you want to stop by, I could introduce you." Ashley smiled, biting her lip. "Oh, uh- I would have to ask my Nana Cecile if I could go, my family is kind of overprotective." Alex blushed and looked at the ground.
Ashley pulls out a piece of paper and writes something on it. "Here, ... In case you change your mind." Alex took the paper and looked at it to see a phone number on it. Ashley looked at her and smiled then walked through the door. Alex stood there, eyes lingering at the door star struck.
"Wow, that was really hard to watch." Alex jumped at the sudden appearance of her little sister, Kara stood off to the side with cringe written all over her face. "I mean, could you be any more in love?"
Alex rolled her eyes and started to walk towards Cecile's car.
(Pairs)
Barry, Caitlin, and Frost spent the whole afternoon taking in the sights. Barry took them to do just about every cliche thing to do in Paris, Frost Finally had her dream date to the Louvre Museum. Once the sun had begun to set Barry decided to take them to the base of the Eiffel Tower.
Caitlin, and Frost stood in front of Barry looking at the most beautiful sunset they had ever seen, one eye dark brown and the other Icy blue with locks of platinum blonde hair. Barry wrapped his arms around them and rested his head on their shoulder.
Once the sun had disappeared completely, Caitlin turned around and wrapped her arms around Barry's neck, Barry brought his hand to rest on her hips and pulled her closer. Caitlin pressed her lips to his then she felt it and smiled, she felt what she always felt every time they touched or kissed… that little spark. "You know…. We still have a couple of hours until we have to get back." Caitlin started, as she chewed on her lower lip and stared lovingly into his eyes. "What did you have in mind?" Barry smiled, liking where this was going.
"Well, I was thinking that we have a nice dinner here, while we still can and then…" Caitlin started. then whispered something in his ear.
(Central City)
Kara and Alex were sitting at the dinner table doing homework. Alex was just about done but was struggling with her math homework, Kara on the other hand finished it in five minutes, right now Kara was speed reading her history book.
On their way home Alex had texted Ashley letting her know that she put her number in her phone, and that she would ask if she could go after she was done with her homework.
Alex felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, she looked at the notification to see that Ashley texted her.
Ashley: 'Are you done with your homework yet.'
Alex looked at the sheet of paper that barely had anything on it. She looked over to Cecile who was sitting on the couch typing on her laptop, she sat there to keep an eye on them to make sure that they did their homework.
Alex looked over to Kara who had light blue lightning flashing in her eyes ever so often switching between reading and writing things in her notebook. Then she had an idea. "Psst" Kara looked up from her.
Alex was whispering something, but Kara couldn't hear, so she took out her hearing aids. "Can you help me with my math homework? I'll buy you what ever you want with my allowance." Alex knew that Kara was smart, extremely smart. Kara had told her that Krypton was three centuries ahead in technology.
Kara thought about it for a second, she held out her hand and Alex handed over her homework, Kara started to lightly write the answers down.
Kara handed over the sheet of paper when she was done, as soon as Alex grabbed the paper she started to trace over Kara's writing. Alex grabbed her books, and math homework and put them in her bag, she walked over and sat next to Cecile. "Nana Cecile?" "Hmm" "...I finished my homework, would it be okay if I could go to the mall with a couple of friends?" Cecile shut her laptop, thinking about it. "I do need to get some stuff for Jenna. Kara sweetie, are you done with your homework?" "Yes" "Alright, let me go and get my things."
Cecile walked out of the room and Kara plopped herself next to Alex on the couch. "So, what is your obsession with Ashley Lewis?" Kara asked, smiling. "It's not an obsession." Alex slumped onto the couch, hoping that it would eat her whole and disappear.
"Who's Ashley?" Alex and Kara snapped their heads towards the dining room, to see Iris. They both sat up straight and shut their mouths. "We're not supposed to talk to you." Alex spoke for both of them.
"Look I get that I'm no longer wanted around by Barry and Caitlin, and that I did bad things in the past but I'm trying to atone for what I did, but all I'm trying to do is apologize to Barry."
"Iris!" They all turned their heads to the stairs, to see Cecile standing there with a look of disappointment. "Iris, can I talk to you for a second?" Cecile walked to the kitchen, Iris followed like she was a kid about to be scolded.
Once Iris entered the room, Cecile looked over Iris' shoulder to see Kara didn't have her hearing aids in. "Kara, put your hearing aids in." Kara sighed and reluctantly put them in.
"Iris, what were you doing talking to the girls?" Cecile whisper yelled. "I was just trying to get to know my nieces. It's not like it was working, they don't want to talk to me anyway." Iris deflated.
"Barry and Caitlin don't want you talking to them… Caitlin and Frost gave me specific instructions not to let you anywhere near them, and what are you doing here anyway, I thought you were staying late at work?" Iris looked hurt that they didn't want their kids anywhere near her. "I finished early, I didn't know that they told you that. I thought…" "Iris, look I get that you want to make amends for what you did, and I firmly believe that everyone deserves a second chance, but with Barry and Caitlin you destroyed that chance."
"Iris, I love you… I love you like you're my own daughter, and I'm telling you this because I want to see you happy. But you have to understand that Barry has moved on, look who are sitting on the couch…" Iris turned around to see two beautiful girls chatting with each other smiling and laughing. "...they are Barry and Caitlin's daughters, they're happy and they have warm beds and clean clothes on their backs, and least of all Alex doesn't have to worry about Starving to death anymore. They did that, Barry and Caitlin both found two wonderful girls, who had no home and no family, and they made them theirs." Iris had tears rolling down her face, realizing that Barry, the nerdy scrawny kid who was crazy in love with her, had moved on and now had a family. Iris nodded her head and gave Cecile a hug and went upstairs to her room.
"Sorry about that, what do you say we go and get something to eat before we head to the mall?" Kara's stomach growled signaling that she was starving, and they all laughed.
The three girls ended up stopping for pizza, Cecile mentally thanked Barry for sending her money when Kara told her how many calories she had left to eat today.
Cecile pulled into a parking spot in the mall's parking garage. Kara struggled to pull out the stroller without breaking it. As soon as Jenna was strapped in, they made their way into the mall, Kara was still amazed by the way humans-built things, it was a lot similar to krypton.
Alex was a bit nervous, she was excited yet scared that she'd make a fool of herself, she was really hoping that she didn't embarrass herself in front of Ashley. "Ok, we're here can I go and look for my friends?" Alex asked a bit too eager to get away from them. Cecile was a bit worried that something might happen but realized that if something were to happen Wally would be here in an instant. "Ok but remember we only have a few hours, so don't be too long. Kara and I'll be looking at some clothes for thanksgiving." Alex nodded and walked away a bit too fast.
"Wow she walked so fast that she might as well have been running." Cecile commented, looking in the direction Alex left. Kara giggled knowing why, 'Well love can make you do weird things. "So, Kara, is their anyone that has your attention, like your sister?" Kara froze hoping that she wasn't thinking out loud. "W-what do you mean?" Kara tensed. "Oh, come on I know what's going on." Cecile had put things together faster than she anticipated. "I was a teenager once, and I have a daughter. I can tell when someone is boy crazy." Cecile wiggled her eyebrows. "Wait that's not..." Kara tried to explain the situation but decided against it. "..Never mind."
They had made their way to a clothing shop to look for some clothes that they could wear for Thanksgiving dinner.
Kara was currently in the dressing room trying on some pants when a dress was thrown in her face. She grabbed it and took a good look at it. It was a black and white medium length dress, the top of the dress was all black with white buttons ending at the waist, and a black ribbon under the collar while the bottom half was white with black butterflies.
"Uhm... Nana Cecile, don't you think this a bit much?" Kara held it up, not sure if the dress would look good on her. "Don't be ridiculous, I bet you'll look great in it." Kara held it to her body and looked in the mirror.
Five minutes later Kara walked out wearing the dress. "Wow you look… beautiful." Kara hugged herself. "I just don't think this is… me."
"Are you kidding me, Kara…" Cecile grabbed her by the shoulders and walked her to the mirror. "You look absolutely beautiful, when your parents see you in this dress their going to thing the exact same thing, now lets get the dress and meet up with your sister.
A few minutes later they were waiting at the spot that they said that they were going to meet Alex. they were sitting on a bench not to far away under the skylights nearby. Kara had taken out her hearing aids to try and train her hearing, she could feel the warmth of the sun on her skin as took in deep breaths and lightly gripped onto the concrete bench.
Kara smiled to herself remembering when she and Barry would sit on the roof of Star Labs when she was done with her homework. The feeling of the cool breeze flowing through her hair as she tried to focus on her fathers heartbeat. At the moment she could feel the coolness of the air conditioning, and she could hear someone having a conversation on their phone, a mother disciplining her child, and a familiar heartbeat getting closer. Kara was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Alex call her name startling her, cracking the bench where she gripped it. Kara and Cecile's eye's widened in surprise. "Uh oh." she whispered.
They both got up quickly, grabbing their things and maid their way to Alex. Kara looked back to where she was sitting and staired at the cracks with worry in her face. 'I getting stronger, and I cant control it…'.
