Enemies To Lovers

Truth be told, no one expected it.

When Tim and Jason starting working together on cases, it had resonated hope to those who wanted Jason back in the family and it be semi-normal.

When Tim and Jason started hanging out together outside of cases and night work, Bruce, Dick, and Alfred were happy. It meant Jason would start coming around more.

When Tim and Jason started dating, they decided to kept their relationship secret from everyone (though they didn't care much about what Damian thought; he'd always have some snark comment either way). Keeping a secret from Bruce and Dick was easy enough, they both had done it. But Alfred? It was not possible to keep secrets from Alfred, so when Alfred noticed, Tim and Jason acknowledged his suspicion, but asked him to not say anything as they weren't sure when to tell Bruce and Dick. That wasn't entirely a lie, however in complete honesty, Tim and Jason wanted to see where their relationship went first.

Once it was clear their relationship was definitely going somewhere, they made the decision to tell Bruce and Dick. As expected, Dick had been ecstatic, and Bruce was genuinely happy. It was nice to be open with their relationship.

Bruce invited them to stay for dinner. They accepted.

After having dinner with them, Tim and Jason had gone back home.

"Did you hear what Dickface said to me?" Jason had asked once they were home.

"Huh? No I didn't. Was too busy talking with Bruce." Tim replied, not paying too much attention.

"He said we were enemies to lovers." Jason told him.

Tim tensed. Jason noticed. Tim glanced back at him then away again. He didn't respond.

"It's true, Tim. We were enemies to lovers."

Tim still didn't respond. He was still tense. He didn't like this assessment of their relationship.

"Tim?" Jason was starting to worry about Tim's reaction.

"Are you happy with the thought of us being enemies to lovers?" Tim finally asked, whipping around to face Jason.

"I mean, Dick wasn't wrong, was he?"

"Jay…" Tim sighs.

"Tim, as much as you don't want me to, I still think about what I did to you. I still wonder why you forgave me. Hell, I still wonder WHY you forgave me. I did horrible things to you and now…now here we are. We are together. I watch you go through your daily life and your struggles. I'm there to support you through all of it. I was your biggest enemy and now, I am your lover." Jason spilled his thoughts, hurt still in his voice at his previous actions.

"Are you in love with the idea of us being enemies to lovers or the fact that someone could see you at your worst and still love you?" Tim finally asked.

Jason froze at the last half of his question.

"Tim, I was at my worst when I came out of the pit. I dealt my worst out to you shy of killing you, but just barely." Jason admitted. "You saw me at my worst, took the brunt of me at my worst and still have come around and accepted my apologies, forgiven me, and are now my world. I was my worst, and you are in love with me."

"Jason, I love you in spite of all that. I know what happened to you, the circumstances of your death and your resurrection. I know back then that wasn't really you I was facing. It was pit madness. You weren't you. You weren't Jason. Now, you are. That is who I love, who I fell in love with." Tim's voice barely above a whisper. His eyes watering.

"I really do love you, Tim." Jason grabbed Tim into a hug, bowing his head down and laying it on top of Tim's.

"Besides, Jay, you were never my biggest enemy. I was my own biggest enemy." Tim says into Jason's chest.

Jason pushed Tim back and held him at arm's length, concern on his face. "What do you mean?"

"I will explain another time. I am not ready for that conversation yet. I just don't want you thinking you were my biggest enemy." Tim gives a small, sad smile.

Jason looked at him with a questioning look. "You promise?"

"I promise." Tim crossed his heart with his finger. Jason gave him another smile and they hugged again.
