I walked in 12 Grimmauld Place. The troll leg umbrella stand was still knocked over most likely from the last time Tonks was here. I smiled to myself as I thought of how she used to make Hermione and I laugh by changing her nose in a pig snout or a duck's bill. I miss her so much.
I heard a thump upstairs and instinctively pulled my wand out of my pocket. I tentatively walked up the stairs. Harry flew to the top, he was holding a baby who had made his hair match Harry's exactly, and it even stood up in the back. I smiled and held out my arms for the Teddy who he gladly handed over. The baby cooed and wrapped his hand in my bright red hair. His hair turned the same color almost instantly when I touched him. Teddy did that all the time, amusing all of us to no end. I smiled at him and thought of how I and Harry's kids might look vaguely like Teddy.
"Gin, can we talk?" Harry asked and led me down the stairs to the kitchen. We sat down at the table and I noticed how pale he was, how tired he looked and how his hair was more mussed than usual. I reached across the table and took his hand.
"What's wrong?"
"Ginny, I just don't- This isn't really- I can't do this anymore." I blinked at him, his words not truly sinking in.
"What?"
"I think that we need to see other people for a while."
"Harry that's absurd, I want you! Just say it three words. Eight letters. Say it and I'm yours." He looked at me with pain in his eyes.
"I am sorry." He got up and left. I heard the door slam behind him and I looked around the kitchen then down at the baby in my arms.
"That bastard, can you believe it, Teddy? He said exactly what I asked for once, three words and eight letters." I shook my head.
"Every where I go people tell me, 'Oh you and Harry are so cute together!' 'You look so good together!' 'You're the perfect couple!'." I sighed.
"We are the perfect couple. We're just not in a perfect relationship. Who am I kidding we aren't anywhere near perfect. We're possibly the most screwed up people in the world." The baby started to fuss so I stood up and walked around the house.
"I knew that when I started dating the 'Boy who Lived' things would be different from another couple. I thought I was in love but I guess not. Falling in love is supposed to be like that muggle camera Dad has in the shed. What's it called? A Polaroid, that's it. Falling in love should be like a Polaroid: instant." Teddy smiled up at me and started cooing. I couldn't help but smile at his sweet little face.
"This isn't even the first time this has happen. Every time my mind tells me to give up, but my heart won't let me. This time it's going to be different, Teddy." I grabbed his diaper bag and walked outside pass the umbrella stand that always reminded me of his mother. I thought of what Tonks would do.
"We're going home. It's time to move on."
