Chapter 2
The loud horn of the Camaro sounded outside. Derek was definitely punctual Stiles thought looking at his phone that told him it was indeed 8 o'clock and Derek really did mean it when he said he'd see him at 8.
"So..." Stiles said after a while in the car.
Derek turned towards him "What?" he asked in a flat voice.
"Where are we going?" Stiles asked.
"Out. I've seen Scott with Alison and he's hopeless so I'm taking you somewhere because knowing you you'll do something stupid due to total boredom at some point."
"Oh. Okay... I guess"
Derek just looked awkward as usual.
"So you're not telling me where we're going then?"
"You do know what a surprise is don't you?"
Stiles hated surprises. They'd either turn out to be amazing or disappointing and he hated the anticipation, it was like someone was scratching the back of his thoughts with a blunt screwdriver. "Yes," He returned. "But I hate them."
"You'll get over it." Derek said, a hint of a smile worrying the sides of his mouth.
"Oh you look like you're gonna smile I think I'll accept the surprise!"
The rest of the drive went went by in a comfortable silence. The golden street lights lighting Derek's eyes up every so often and Stiles couldn't help but smile when he thought about how it reminded him of cat's eyes. When the car stopped Stiles pulled his eyes off of Derek and looked out of the window to see the cinema illuminated by its usual array of lights.
"My treat." Derek said.
Stiles couldn't quite comprehend it but he sure as hell wasn't going to argue with it.
