Metropolis Downfall (Pt. 2: Appealing Agreement)
"Commander, there something you might want to see." a solider stated as he entered the room, giving a salute to the tall man sitting at the desk as he filed through important paperwork.
"Don't you see I'm a bit busy here," the man stated in reply as he grouped the remaining paper onto one spot on the cluttered desk before folding his hands against each other, arms resting against the wooden furniture.
"There was a report that Metropolis is being invaded by the Sharpscales."
"Get to the point." blue and brown eyes narrowed in impatience as he looked at the soldier in front of him, his face hidden by the bullet-proof face glass of his greenish black helmet.
"Yes sir." the soldier let his arm hang by the side, but continued to stand tense and straight up as he was trained to do in front of anyone of a higher ranking then his, "It is believed that Sonic the hedgehog is back, but he is working for the enemy." The Commander raised an eyebrow at the statement, the only sign that showed that he didn't believe the news, or he was quite interested in where this was going to lead to. Most of the G.U.N. soldier knew that trying to read their boss's emotion and/or reaction to anything was nearly impossible.
"Are you sure that this is the famous hero that died saving our universe? We don't want to mistaken him for some other hedgehog again, like we did with Shadow."
"Information we gathered seems to confirm that the mobian is indeed Sonic the hedgehog. He has the all the same characteristics as the blue hedgehog, though, the cocky personality he always had is the only thing this mobian is lacking. Our researchers are believing that he developed some sort of amnesia before he returned." The Commander sighed as he looked down, eyes closed as his shoulders slightly relaxed from their tensed position.
"Great, just what we needed, another hedgehog who forgotten his memories and tries to conquer the planet for the enemy." he muttered at a volume for the soldier to hear. He then resumed his earlier position as he ordered to the soldier, "Show me the news report." The human in front of him nodded as he pulled out a holographic projector and displayed the incident. The Commander watched with a blank expression, his body stayed still like a rock as he heard the jaguar's reporting from the civilians, the Sharpscales destroying a building and their appearance, the sudden gust of air that shocked the crowd, and the blue hedgehog being identified and calling out to one of the reptilian aliens by what was possibly the creature's name.
"Are there any G.U.N. troops in the city?"
"Only the patrol squads we sent to keep down any crime, but they are no match to the heavy-scale invasion the Sharpscales are performing. Should I order for reinforcements to protect the city." soldier suggested, which was answered by the older male's head shaking his head in negation.
"Send the reinforcements, but have the city evacuated. The Sharpscales were bad enough by themselves, but now who knows what they are capable of with Sonic on their side." The Commander stood up from his chair, pushing it back into place as e walked over to the large window behind him, hands placed behind his back as he stared outside from the building's fifth floor, "What is in Metropolis that the Sharpscales might want so dearly to invade in such force?"
"A chaos emerald is located there along with a top-secret research facility that had been working on developing a machine to stop global warming for the past ten years now, and sir..." the older male turned his head just enough for one eye to clearly see the soldier,
"...we believe we know what they're after."

"Whoa, these Sharpscales mean business don't they." Knuckles stated as he looked around the ruin street. The fire crackled nearby in the roasting buildings along with the overturned cars that scattered the road. A few of the vehicles hung slightly from the large hole it created with its collision with the brick buildings. The telephone pole's electrical wires were cut and sliced at different areas, hanging down with small white sparks of the surging electricity.
"Whatever they're looking for must be very important if they have to thrash the place in their search." Rouge paused slightly as she glanced at the holographic wristwatch. Pushing a small button, a viewing of the G.U.N. Commander, a.k.a her boss, appeared.
"Agent Rouge, where is your location at the current time." he asked in a demanding tone.
"I'm on the west end of Metropolis along with Shadow, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and the Chaotix."
"That's excellent."
"Being in a city overran with reptilian-like aliens who are trying to take over the world and turn majority of the people into slaves is a good thing." She raised an eyebrow in slight disbelief.
"All the other agents will be to busy evacuating the city to do retrieve the item the Sharpscales want."
"I"m listening then, anything that messes up their plan should get us closer to kicking their scaly hide off the planet."
"Good. I'm sending you the coordinates of the top-secret research facility hidden in the city containing two important items that they could use: a chaos emerald and the research to a machine that possible could stop global warming."
"So they're after the chaos emerald." Shadow stated.
"Actually, we believe that they're mostly after the research. If they wish to return the planet when reptiles use to dominant, they'll probably change the weather condition to the same as the Jurassic Period. However, if you cannot retrieve or delete the research, attempt to retrieve the chaos emeralds due to the machine being unable to work without them."
"Couldn't you use something other than the chaos emeralds?"
"We need something with a lot of energy, and the only thing beside the emeralds is the Master Emerald, and we knew we wouldn't be able to get access to it. Reinforcements should be arriving near your location. A few will assist and retrieving the research while the rest will help to evacuate the city." The group looked up as the whirring sound of a copter was heard in the distance. Approaching the group of mobians as close as it could managed, the flying vehicle hovered over them. A rope ladder was sent dangling over its edge as three soldiers quickly traveled down it.
"We have received orders from Commander Towers to assist you in the research retrieval mission." one of the soldiers stated as they gave a salute in manner, their glass faceplate making their facial expression hard to see. The thudding sound emitted from the helicopter as it started to rise higher above them. Just as it reached over the roofs of the nearby building, a yellow light was sent hurtling toward the vehicle and collided with its side. Smoke appeared at the collision mark as the copter shook violently and began diving at another group of buildings some yards away. Its fate and its passengers as an explosive sound echoed through the silent street.
"Well, well, well," the group looked up, getting into a fighting position with the G.U.N. soldiers readying their rifles to fire as they spotted Racko and Sonic standing on top of one of the buildings. The red Sharpscales was grinning down at them with narrowed eyes while Sonic was looking in the distance at the vehicles crash site, a devious smile on his face that made everyone knew that he was the cause for its destruction, "look what we have here, the same ragtag group of wanna-be heroes. I see you brought that pathetic excuse for a Guardian with you, I was wondering if he survived or not."
"Due to your presence here I believe you saw the broadcast." the blue hedgehog stated as emerald eyes finally looked down at the group with a stern glare.
"So it is true, I never thought I see the day that you turn evil." Sonic grunted at one of the human's response, the sound nearly turning into an annoyed growl.
"Well it is of no matter now," Racko stated before the hedgehog could reply, "we are retrieving the data and the chaos emerald. We will use the device to increase this so-called global warming and allow our kind to be capable of inhabiting this planet."
"Well you won't know it's location without G.U.N.'s knowledge." Rouge stated.
"Little bat, do you believe we didn't think of that." Racko smile dropped at the comment, "Why else did we purposely get on the news and made Sonic's appearance. We were drawing G.U.N. to us. I would expect them to sending reinforcement to evacuate the city." Four other Sharpscales flew duo to the duo, hovering above as they held a tight grasp to their struggling captors, chuckling softly at the humans attempt for escape.
"It won't be hard to get the information out of them, but since you wish to be annoying pest in our plans," Racko turned around, his back to them as he glanced at the blue hedgehog, "Sonic take care of them." The mentioned mobian nodded as the Sharpscale ran off out of sight followed by the rest of the alien reptiles.
"Look, Sonic, we don't want to fight you, we just want to come to an agreement." Shadow stated as Sonic returned his gaze to them, arms crossed as a creased frown appeared on his peach muzzle.
"And exactly what do you have to say that could possibly sway me to join your side."
"The Chaotix will go to your island and retrieve the data you wanted."
"Wait, we didn't...oof!" Vector grunted in pain as the red echidna elbowed him in the side harshly.
"Just go along with it, this is the fate of the world we're talking about remember." Knuckles whispered.
"We'll even have the echidna go along with them since he already been there."
"HEY, JUST WAIT ONE...OWCH!" Knuckles bent slightly over in pain as his arms caressed his chest that was aching in pain from the crocodile elbowing him back.
"Just go along with it, this is the fate of the world we're talking about remember." Vector stated with a grin, earning a growl from the mammal as he could catch the hint of mockery in the reptile's tone.
"An interesting proposition you guys are making, but how do I know that you will actually do so."
"If you don't have that information in three days then we submit to the Sharpscales."
"Hmm, I'll think about it, but I suggest you hurry if you wish to retrieve the data. Also, until that information is retrieved I suggest we continue to be enemies, and don't get any smart ideas that we're buddies understand." Sonic right hand began to glow as he uncrossed his arms. The small air ball that formed seconds later was sent hurtling toward the space a few feet from the black hedgehog, who eyes widened at the sudden action very slightly. The collision forced a small booming sound as smoke and small debris drifted in the air, forcing those on the ground to cough as they slightly breathe in the temporarily tainted air.
"Hey, where did he go?"Charmy stated, being the first to recover as he hovered, his head moving side to side in a frantic way as if to locate something important. The others looked up to the building where the blue hedgehog was earlier ad noticed that he had disappeared.
"Well then, what are we waiting for," the Ultimate Lifeform stated as he looked back at the three soldiers, "where is that not so secret anymore research facility."

"Tell us where your research facility is." Racko stated to the four tied up soldiers as majority of the Sharpscales that had invaded the city formed a half circle around the humans, chuckling sadistically and cackling madly as they watch the torturing. The hostages were beaten, scratched, and had several bruises covering their bodies varying by size.
"We'll never talk." One of the soldiers retaliated, forcing himself to hold back the yelp as Racko struck his leg with his tail, his skin being sliced as the spikes that covered them were purposely tensed up.
"Is this really necessary?" Racko turned his head around as he noticed the blue hedgehog approaching him from an opening in the crowd of aliens.
"Hey, don't be a killjoy. It's been awhile since we got to see a good torturing." One of the Sharpscales stated. The being reminded Sonic of an alligator, the only difference was that on his back was two bat like wings, had another set of arms and hands, and his tail resembled slightly of a demon's tail, but thicker. He was a lot taller than most of the Sharpscales present, his size took up most of the width of the road, which forced him to knock down several of the buildings which he had done with pleasure.
"Quiet, Hazorok. Anyway, you're back earlier than I expected."
"You dare question my strength. Those pest were of little trouble for me." the hedgehog stated with a sly smirk.
"Of course I wouldn't question it, now let's get back to the business at hand." the red Sharpscale turned back at the humans with a wide grin, causing them to scoot back as much as they could against the brick wall of one of the buildings as the alien crowd laughed in excitement.
